Why do so many people blame health insurance companies for the high cost of health care?

Aren't health care providers the ones charging so much in the first place? But you don't hear too many people complaining about that. Health insurance companies negotiate lower prices with providers. What would be in it for the insurance companies to have higher prices they would have to pay? Shouldn't the providers get at least as much if not more criticism?

The real problem is greed. 36 other countries have medical systems that deliver better results than ours does, at about half the price per capita. True, doctors, lawyers, and insurance executives make far less in those countries than they do here, but for the citizens who never get a doctor bill and need never face the prospect of bankruptcy over a single illness or injury, it is clearly better. I guess the difference can be summed up like this: The rest of the world is trying to make a living--Americans would rather try to make a killing... And it is definitely costing us.
