Can a parent have their married daughter on their health/auto insurance?

I know that a child who is older than 18 can be on their parents insurance as long as they're a student. Is this still the case if the said person is married? Is it the same for both health and auto insurance?
--------------------
Not with health insurance. Once a child is married they are considered a responsible adult and therefor must get on their own policy. With auto insurance if she is still in the household she can be on the policy with many companies but the husband also needs to be on the same policy. You'll need to ask your auto agent to be sure.

If health insurance is 'employer sponsored' does it mean the employer pays part of the premium?

I'm try to clarify if this is the case. I pay 100 percent of my premiums, but I buy my insurance through my company. Is this employer sponsored?
--------------------
Yes. It's a group policy, and your employer pays the bill - with money collected from YOUR paycheck. They don't HAVE to be contributing towards the premium.

how can the cost of health insurance decrease a company's income?

so, a company helps pay off people's premiums by paying off a certain percentage. but the insurance cost is rising, so the amount the company pays off for employees is also rising. well, other than the fact that insurance rates exceeding income rates affect a company's income (because of premiums etc), what other evidence can support the fact that health insurance decreases a companys income?
--------------------
It's an expense. Aside from the fact that ANY expense rises, there is no other reason an expense decreases income. Income is ONLY decreased when expenses rise.

What is the difference between "Limited Benefits" Health Coverage and Health "Insurance"? ?

My health coverage plan adamantly states that it is not "insurance", it is a "limited health benefits" plan. Is there a legal reason why they choose these words instead of insurance, or is there an actual difference? More importantly, if I have "limited health benefits" instead of "insurance", am i getting royally screwed?
--------------------
Yes, you're getting royally screwed. To be insurance the company must be on the hook to pay out money, sometimes more than it receives in premium. It is a federal regulation that if the plan is not insurance it cannot use the term "insurance". Your plan just takes in money and doesn't offer you anything more than a list of doctors which may or may not really accept the plan and, if they do, may or may not give you a discount. Good luck trying to get off the plan. A good percentage of complaints against these plans are people trying to disenroll and cancel the credit card or bank withdrawl payment. Also, the application fee is not refundable.

What is the Best Health Insurance for Me?

My husband informed me that after he retires his company will no longer insure me. I have coronary artery disease, have had 2 angioplasties, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and have had arthroscopic surgery on my knee. I feel better than ever since I have retired but I am still on a lot on medications. With all things being considered, what would be a good insurance for me, if they will take me? Also would I bwe better off with a PPO or an HMO or something else. I am so confused and thought this would never happen.

If I sue my health insurance company, can I make part of the settlement that they have to guarantee coverage?

I am 19, and I have a 3 year old daughter. She talks with a lisp, and she can't walk correctly. She is going to need expensive leg braces to correct the way she walks, and the insurance company won't pay. I checked the fine print, and there is nothing that would allow them to do this. I am going to sue them to force them to pay, but I know they will surely drop us if we win. Can I prevent them from dropping us, and prevent them from raising my rate?
--------------------
Have you actually spoken to the insurance company and asked about the basis of their denial? Perhaps have them put the reason for denial in writing. Have you actually looked at the master policy (not just the summary booklet that health insurance gives you). There is a chance there is something in the policy that is being missed. Also - how did the dr code the treatment? This can result in a denial of coverage because the bill was not coded properly. Before you go getting all cranked up about filing a law suit-- check into it further. Lawsuits are not fast and they are very expensive. Depending on where you are, it could easily be 4 years before your case ever sees the inside of a court room. And, your health insurance provider has the money to fight the legal fight. Once you have gotten more information - and still think the expense should be covered -try contacting your states Department of Insurance. The DOI is the regulatory body for all insurance in your state. That includes Health insurance. If you end up later contacting an attorney and pursuing the matter - the more information you have gathered ahead of time the better.

How do I buy health insurance online. There are sites but they give me over 100 plans to choose from?

How am I supposed to know which plan to buy? Which company is better? I have no idea what to do here. I also don't want some lame insurance guy in my house. Anybody have an idea?
--------------------
It all starts with your zip code. Different companies dont write with some zip codes. Then you have to figure out what kind of plan you want. You get what you pay for. There is a website I am putting in my source box that went over all of this in video format. The guy seems straight up and even showed me how to fill out an application online. I didnt buy from him because I got a job about 2 days after I found him and got group insurance. I think he is only in Florida though. I know this though, your health and weight have alot to do with how expensive your insurance can be. Dont cancel your current policy before you get your new one. My mom did that and she is screwed. Hope this helps out.

Do you really have health insurance in the military?

From my understanding, if you get seriously ill, I don't mean an injury or a conflict caused event, but if you just happen to develop a life threatening illness, the military discharges you and you lose your benefits. So how can they say you really have insurance?
--------------------
We have full insurance while on active duty. Everything is covered 100%. Now if you are medically discharged for something that was not a result of your military service it is a bit different. You go to the VA for medical if you choose. The VA charges on a sliding scale dependent on income. Kinda like civilian life, but better. See if you loose a civilian job, you also loose health benefits. But they don't offer you a no to low cost alternative just for having been employed by them now do they..

Does anyone know of a health insurance that does not have a waiting period for Wisdom teeth extraction?

I currently do not have dental insurance, and one of my wisdom tooth is growing. Unfortunately, it has an infection and needs to be removed. Right now my dentist suggest that I maintain it until I can find dental insurance. I need to find one that does not have a waiting period to do so and has a reasonable monthly fee. Thanks for your help.
--------------------
I would encourage you to visit this great website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago when I was in college and they have saved me thousands of dollars on all of my dental needs. From extractions, xrays, fillings, root canals...etc. Even my braces had coverage. They even had my very affordable benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use them the very same day. Good luck and Hope this helps you

Can health insurance be trasfered from one state to another?

I have "Keystone Mercy Insurance" which can be used within the state of PA only. I need to have a heart surgery and I want to have it at Clevland Clinic in Ohio. Is there any way my insurance can be trasfered or are there any other options?
--------------------
Contact your insurance company and ask them whether they will cover it. sometimes they will give authorization. You may have to get your doctor to fill out forms. The best way to know is to call and ask. The worse they can do is say no.

If you change health insurance during pregnancy will the new insurance cover the visits and delivery?

My husband and I are doing invitro fertilization and we will find out 11/15/2008 if we are successful but husband is wanting to change jobs. This means that the insurance we have now will be canceled and his new jobs insurance will go into effect. I know we may have to use Cobra for a fews months, but once he is eligble for the new jobs insurance willit even cover my pregnancy or will it be considered pre existing?
--------------------
Pregnancy cannot be considered pre-existing on group coverage. Just make sure that you take the COBRA to cover anything that may happen until you and your husband are covered on the new plan. Here is a link that explains it-see "Pre-existing Condition Exclusion" http://www.dol.gov/elaws/ebsa/health/4.a…

How long after getting approved for health insurance is it safe to go to the doctor?

I'm 90% sure I have cancer but am afraid if I go to the doctor and diagnose it they'll tell me it was a pre-existing condition and cancel my insurance. I've already waited a month and can tell my condition is getting worse. What's a safe bet?
--------------------
Once you are approved, you are covered. I would wait till you had your insurance card so you don't have to pay upfront and be reimbursed. If they are going to cancel you, they will do it no matter how long you wait. I think you are good to go in and get checked out. For what its worth, I hope your wrong about having cancer.

I have to go to the doctor, but I don't have money or health insurance. Any ideas?

I need to go to a family practitioner, but I don't have any money and I don't have health insurance.
--------------------
Go to the hospital. You will get immediate attention and they will bill you. Then you can make as little as $10 a month payments. If you go to a family practioner or any other doctor they will expect you to pay that day.

What is the debate on purchasing health insurance across state lines?

Currently the healthcare reform act does not allow purchasing insurance from out of state carriers (or across state lines). Why are the republicans for this and the dems against is it overall? It seems like it would be a good thing? What are the arguments for and against it?
--------------------
Currently, health insurance is regulated on a state by state basis. A policy you buy in PA, doeson't comply with NY laws. Because of that, PA insurance is much, much cheaper - NY health insurance costs about DOUBLE, due to the regulations in that state. SO. There are two bottom lines: 1. You'd need to start another bureauocracy - a national insurance regulation bureauocracy. Mongo budget bucks. and 2. it's not going to work the way people THINK it will work. If you are in NY, and want to cut your health insurance in half by buying a PA policy, well, if the PA policy has to comply with NY coverage, they'll have to INCREASE THE PRICE. In other words, EVERYONE'S insurance cost will go up, maybe a lot. In NY, you can't refuse to issue a health insurance policy - so there's some inherent "adverse selection" issues there. That, also, will increase overall costs. Not all companies sell health insurance in all states. There's a reason for that - some states are very insurance un-friendly. If you're required to pay for someone's infertility treatments, it's going to raise EVERYONE'S prices. So. Back into it. WHY EXACTLY is being able to buy health insurance across state lines, a good thing? COST isn't a valid factor - because once you can, prices will rise. And I can't think of any other good reasons, justified by billions of dollars for another bureauocracy.
