Will fines for not having health insurance be tax deductible?

Now that Obamacare has passed, its financially smart to not have health insurance and just pay the fines. When you get sick, just call an insurance provider and sign up -- they can't turn you away for pre-existing conditions! Once you are healthy again, just drop the healthcare plan. So my question is, will these fines be tax deductible?
--------------------
No. No fines or penalties are tax-deductible.

I know that birth control costs around $5-$10 with health insurance, but does that make health insurance for women higher?

How will we know who is an american citizen and who is not, when it comes to the health insurance mandate ?

. Since the health insurance mandate, only effects american citizens. Just how will the federal government know who is a citizen and who is not a citizen, to determine who must purchase health insurance or not ? Evidently they are not allowed to ask for proof of citizenship anymore.
--------------------
Ding! Ding! Ding! I think we have a winner. Not only are we not allowed to ask for proof of citizenship which will, in essence, provide illegal immigrants with health care at tax payer expense which was always the plan, or to quote Joe Wilson, "You lie!", which he obviously did, but illegals will get a bonus because they will not be subject to that mandate because we won't know who they are and so cannot impose this mandate on them. So, they sort of get the gravy on both sides of their potatoes. Isn't socialism great?

How Many Deaths are Due to No Health Insurance?

Liberals often mention the high death count due to uninsured patients being refused treatment by doctors and hospitals. How many deaths have occurred because the patient didn't have health insurance? Also, how many patients are refused treatment by doctors and hospitals and later die as a result?
--------------------
No one has any exact figures. While the US system will not deny emergency care, it does little to prevent emergencies for those without insurance. But the facts on the reforms are simple. FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [1] FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [2] FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [3] FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [4] FACT - Obama was elected to bring in change [5] FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies from screwing America [6] FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and Switzerland [7] Let me know if my facts are wrong, but please provide proof.

Which is best health insurance policy for Income Tax saving in India?

I am 29 years old . I want to take health insurance policy for my self & for my husband & child. The age of my husband is 30 & my Child is 3 years old. I want to buy Health Insurance policy which assist me to save my Income Tax. Is there any policy avilable which matches with my requirement?
--------------------
I think there is two aspects in your question. Now there is two types of health related insurance policies are available in India. one offered by general insurance companies and the other offered by life insurance companies. about the general insurance company policies i suggest the reliance heathwise gold policy is more feature rich and competitively priced. the price is what you pay for it and also what you can deduct under medical insurance policy premium. so u have to decide to pay more as premium expenses and to save a percentage of the same as income tax savings. now we can look the life insurance companies. recently LIC and reliance have come up with new health insurance products which are unit linked insurance policies. here the charges for the health insurance cover can be treated as deduction under medical insurance premium and the balance amount as usual investment premium which can be counted along with other eligible investments. if you have any Ayurveda treatment plan in future then only iffco tokio provides for this in their medical policy. so the option is this if you want a real health policy study what is best and buy and if u want the tax savings and no health policy it is better to pay the tax.

What is gold plated Cadillac health insurance?

I've heard John McCain talk about his proposed $5,000 tax credit not covering those with the "gold plated Cadillac health insurance." He mentioned it most recently during the third presidential debate. What exactly is this? My employer offers three types of insurance (the highest costing one allows me to pay less out of pocket and lowers my deductible and vice-versa). Is this the "gold plated" one, or what exactly is McCain talking about?
--------------------
A gold plated policy would have a higher premium, low deductible, low co-pays, little or no co-insurance, with few or no limitations on services such as mental health care. Don http://mtnhealthinsurane.com

when will college age students not to have to take 12 credits to maintain health insurance?

Right now dependent college age children have to maintain 12 college credits to keep health insurance. Obama supposedly is changing that. Does anyone know when that will take effect?
--------------------
Wont matter since that is private health insurance from a preferred plan; it's their rules you play by. Once you're 18, you will be legally obligated to get your own health insurance.

How can I get free health insurance?

I'm 20 years old (almost 21) but I cannot afford more than $25 a month for health insurance. I work in a small town, full time at a family owned business that cannot offer me medical insurance. HELP!
--------------------
It is usually pretty easy to find a very cheap individual health insurance plan if you are young and fairly healthy. If you do not make a whole lot of money then you may also be eligible for free or low cost health insurance through the state. Here is some more information on finding free or low cost health insurance:

Does all health insurance not work when I'm out of state?

I go to medical school in PA and receive health insurance through them, but I'm in CT for the summer. I just went to a planned parenthood to get STD tested and the bastards wouldn't accept my insurance, so it ended up costing me $80!! Is this normal?
--------------------
~~Yes completely normal. You can not get routine medical care across state lines as each state has it's own set of laws and Insurance companies must be approved by the state to sell insurance there. If it were a life or death situation, or an emergency (broken arm, stitches, etc) then it would pay the coverage with proper documentation of it being an extreme health situation.~~

Is a person allowed to have 2 health insurance plans at the same time?

I have cheap health insurance that has a $4,000 deductible. I want to see a doctor. Can I open a new policy with a different company that has a low deductible, go to the doctor, and then cancel the new policy? I will save a lot of money if I do this.
--------------------
You can have a primary and a secondary insurance. If you are interested in canceling the first policy then you will have to show them that you are currently being covered by another policy. Good luck.

Is the govt guarenteeing health care or simply health insurance?

They never seem to say that the 47 million will actually get health care but merely have health insurance so what gives?
--------------------
Health insurance, and regulation of the (un)insurance companies so that they can no longer use death panels to deny treatments to those they cover. It surprises me that so many Americans seem not to be aware about Obama's healthcare plans [a]. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims and was elected to bring in changes [b]. First of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwan [c] and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there. FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [d]. FACT – insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should [e]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [f]. That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it. And the sad thing is, that the insurance companies have spent loads of money to fight these reforms [g] and loads of politicians are taking the thirty pieces of silver from them to fight the reforms, rather than fight for the health of the American people. Remember, I back my facts up with evidence. Those who say they are wrong tend not to. If they are wrong, e-mail me with proof and let me know.

How much do US citizens pay on health insurance?

I earn £24000 ($36000) a year in the UK and pay 20% tax. For this type of wage how much tax and then how much health insurance would a US citizen pay?
--------------------
At $36000, your Federal tax rate would be 15%. There is also a state income tax in most states. Health insurance costs vary widely. Some employers pay 100% of the cost, others only part, and some none at all. If you have to buy insurance on your own, the cost depends on your age, health history and how much coverage you want. If you have any significant pre-existing conditions, most insurance companies will simply refuse to insure you, in which case you're out of luck.

Do most colleges offer good health insurance to students?

For example, I attend to 4 year university which has health insurance packages for students, but they are very expensive and I can't afford. The coverage is up to 100, 000 and deductible $300 and after that 80% coverage. I found out that private individual plans in area near my college for the cost nearly the same offer greater coverage like $1 million and $250 deductible and 100% coverage. I thought that health insurace offered by colleges are cheaper but aren't always.
--------------------
That sounds about like what most schools offer, if they offer anything at all (not all do). Generally, they offer coverage with high deductibles and less than 100% coverage because that makes the premiums cheaper. Most students can't afford better coverage, or else they don't think they need it (when you're young you tend to think you're immortal), so they can't or won't pay for better coverage. If you've found a better plan that you can actually get, and it's comparable in price, then go for it. You lucked out--not everybody can qualify for an individual plan, or afford it.

Many employers offer health insurance now but deduct the full or partial amount from employees checks?

Will that change now that Obama is requiring employers to provide health insurance? Do employers just have to provide access to insurance or pay for insurance? What about deductibles, who pays those and will there be a cap on them?
--------------------
The change is that you used to pay for yourself and your family, and now you will also pay for inner city dwellers.

Is there a way to get cheaper health insurance that's not through your employeer?

$180 a month IS cheap. Shop around, you'll find out.

Have you seen a TV add about Health Insurance where Pre-existing conditions are okay?

I saw the commercial 2 or 3 time in Los Angeles. I don't remember the channel or the name of the company. It said call for health insurance, low premiums and pre-existing conditions are okay. Anyone see the add and know the name of the company?
--------------------
Yes; however, you need to read the fine print that says this is not insurance, a discount plan only. Don't waste your $ on these type of misleading plans.

How much does it cost to have a new born into your world without health insurance?

How much would it cost to pay for all the bills when having a new born without health insurance?

It's super expensive---at least $15,000 for a normal pregnancy and birth. You have to remember that difficulties in pregnancy happen and it can cause this number to dramatically increase also. Get insurance, medicaide, something!

Why would we have to pay a penalty if we refuse to purchase affordable health insurance?

I thought America was the land of the free? Why then, does the government have the right to tell me that I HAVE to purchase health insurance? Just wondering.
--------------------
You know something! These ****asses have already penalized some of us for not taking their Prescription D program! It's just another ploy to make us bend to their wishes!!! They keep talking about this healthcare, but they still haven't told us HOW MUCH is it going to cost us!?? How much for each person, and does the price go up or down according what you earn!????? What about the people who are laid off!? How much do they pay? What about these illegals!? They shouldn't be allowed ANY medical help at all!! Hospitals, doctors, nurses etc! And if any one of them does! THEY are the ones who should be penalized!!! I am sick and tired of someone telling me to HAVE to do this, and I CAN'T do that!!! This is America folks! Why are we letting this happen!?

Can I claim my disabled live in parent on my health insurance as a dependent?

My mother recently moved in with me and I take care of her room/board and all other expenses. She was working but was laid off and now her COBRA is running out. As she is 63 and suffers from a debilitating disease, can she be claimed on my health insurance as my dependent? Thanks.
--------------------
This is a question that we get a lot. The insurance company bases enrollment eligibility on how the year end tax form would read. If your mom is claimed as a dependent on your Taxes then they should allow her to join on your family coverage through COBRA. Now every insurance company is different, and if that fails then many times there is medicaid available or health insurance risk pools available for people that have a hard time getting individual insurance. The biggest fact that you have to figure out is if you can file her as a dependent on a tax document and if so you have a pretty good case. Good luck and if that doesnt work you can email me at j.marvin@integrityriskmgt.com to see where I might recommend looking at alternatives.
