Legally are people who have medi - cal allowed to also buy their own health insurance?

Will the insurance that they buy often allow this or how does this work? Is it legal? Doctors say that medi-cal is not good enough for them so they usually want you to have good health insurance. What is good health insurance and how does it differ from medi -cal ? Insurance is insurance right? How would they bill medi - cal and the other insurance together? If you have a deductible can medi-cal cover what is not met before the deductible of the health insurance you obtain additionally?

if you buy additional insurance that will be your primary one,and medi-cal the supplementary . is not that medical is not good enough for the Doctors the fact is medical takes sometimes 1 or 2 months to pay the bill so a lot of physicians do not like accepting it because of it. medical will not cover your deductible. and if you have money to buy you own Insurance then your medical can be discontinue or you can have an other co-pay on top of your insurance

No one has free insurance coverage here. You can contact a health insurance company and purchase a policy for a few months. When I was between jobs, I purchased a 60 day policy for about 200. It did not pay much, but helped out in the event of a major injury. Depending on where you go to school - many colleges and universities have a student health services where you can get free and low cost care. It does not handle major injuries etc. But if you need to see a dr because you are sick, that is an option.

You and your mom have separate coverage, she is the subscriber and you are the dependant. This is two separate coverages, you are not both sharing one. It depends on what type of insurance you have, if she signed up for a fixed number of visits per year then you will have to start paying once you pass that number of visits versus paying a higher deductible or higher co-pay for limitless number of visits.

Essentially the Corruption that is associated with government programs generally adds at least 30 to 50% to the cost of the government program when compared with similar private programs that are not subject to all of the graft, bribery, dishonesty and corruption that you find in the government programs.

Unless it's being irritated by something, or is sore otherwise, I'd leave it alone. If it's changed in size or appearance, however, I'd go have a doctor look at it as it might be serious. If it were sticking up it might be a different story. However, if it really bothers you have a couple of doctors give their opinion. You're talking about surgery here and that might mean a hospital stay at least overnight. I would think about it a little before I went ahead with having a mole removed if I could live with it otherwise.

Under the new health care reform, i hear we now have to have health insurance by law. When will this law come into play? And how do we go about getting this "government payed/low cost" health insurance? Is there going to be a website or office we can go to like the Medicaid/food stamp offices? Thank you . Working people will pay higher taxes for 4 years before the "health care reform" will be in effect. At that point taxes will probably increase even more to pay for it. There is no "government paid/low cost" health care insurance. Working people pay for it. With fewer doctors taking Medicaid because of the plans to pay them less, there could be longer and longer waits for service. If you don't buy some kind of health insurance, you will be fined. This will be enforced by the 16,000 new IRS agents provided for in the new law.

I'm applying for health insurance at my job for the very first time and some of this terminology is new and confusing to me. Could someone please explain to me (as if i were a 5 year old) what an optional rider is? Should i want this? What should i be looking for in an optional rider?

Why is it health insurance can't pay 100 percent when 80 percent usually leaves most with a huge bill?

One big problem healthcare in my family (married couple, 2 children) is that even when our insurance does pay, it only pays 80 percent, and we are stuck with a huge bill or bills especially after a hospital visit or stay from multiple facilities. I have so many health problems even though I am only 29 that we cannot pay every medical bill that we owe, it is impossible. We pay what we can, but still end up having some go on our credit. Now people with Medicaid, which I do think is wonderful for those who need it, end up not having any left over bills and us people who make 45,000 to 50,000 a year end up with huge bills we cannot ever pay due to our other obligations like house payment and car payments and things for our children, which are much more important than a left 500-600 dollar hospital bill plus multiple others, especially when we basically live paycheck to paycheck anyway. What can be done about this?

this sounds crazy but you already admit you can not pay all med bills .So if you look up your credit report you are already listed as a risk This is what you do Quit paying any med bill after insurance. When my son in law had emergency surgery his tab came to 32,000 dollars. I met with my daughter His wife at the Hospitals accounting office before they checked out.They had no insurance or means to pay the bill so I settled the account for them.I told the lady that I would give them 4000 cash if they would mark the bill paid in full.I gave her 3 minutes to accept or likly never get a cent as the kids had no way of paying. They tried to argue but I told her you have one minute left after that I walk. As I have no responsibility to even offer a settlement take it or get nothing. THEY TOOK IT>>>> You can do the same walk in make a offer show the cash they accept or walk never more to return.or feel obligated to pay. at 15 cents on the dollar they still are making a profit. $20 for a .05 cent asprin proves they are way out of line. Every one has a right to make a profit but not that much or at the risk of your well being ,peace of mind and severe stress it causes your family.

There AREN'T any plans where "preexisting conditions are not an issue", unless you've had continuous insurance, and the new plan is through your employer. That's the only way you'll get preexisting conditions covered. If you try to get a private plan with preexisting conditions, they'll either deny you, or the conditions will be excluded.

The people that are complaining don't pay there taxes now. That has always been the problem. If you went in and really studied the tax system, you will find that these people are always working a scam. Tax abatement's, tax shelters, or don't pay their taxes period. They would rather get lawyer to fight the IRS then just pay their fair share, and there are millions of these people. So when somebody says to you I don't want to pay for you, they aren't paying their share in the first place, and that's not American.

They don't stack, they coordinate. Your plan is primary for you, your wife's plan is primary for her. Whatever the LOWER copay is, is the one you'll end up paying. When both plans have an 80/20 provision, you don't apply the 80% to the out of pocket amount of the first one - you still apply it to the total bill. So, the first plan pays 80%, the second pays NOTHING, because the total amount payable - 80% - was already paid by the first insurance.
