Can your company see what you use your health insurance for?

Can your company see what you use your health insurance for? I want to go to a weight loss physician, but I don't want my company to know that I went to that kind of doctor if I use my insurance. My company is very small (about 20 people) so everyone knows everybody. Will my company see that I used the insurance to see a weight loss physician?

What shows up on your health insurance bill?

If you were to get a procedure done that you didn't want your parents/husband/wife to find out about, would it show up on their health insurance bill, if you have a joint plan?
--------------------
Health plans usually submit an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to the enrollee upon adjudication (payment or denial) of a claim submitted on their policy. There is no standard EOB format, so your plan might list "service rendered", or "surgery", or "appendectomy". Some might even include diagnosis codes in addition to the procedure. You can call the plan and ask them what information they print on EOBs. If you are asking whether these services will appear on the bill for the premium payment, probably not. Call the plan to be sure.

Moving from Saitama to Tokyo, Will the health insurance I paid for this week be valid?

I am moving from Saitama to Tokyo in about 2 weeks. I have 4 months of health insurance bills I want to pay off (for Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec, but in the midst of the move I might lose them SOMETIME if I wait). If I pay while I'm still a resident of Saitama, will they still be valid when I become a resident of Tokyo? Will it cause any problems for me if I pay now? Does health insurance cost different depending on the prefecture?
--------------------
Please tell me what kind of insurance that is. Are you talking about National Health Insurance? If so, the premium you paid is valid no matter where you move. But you need to go to shiyakusho and change the address of your insurance. >Does health insurance cost different depending on the prefecture? There is only SLIGHT difference.

Where can I purchase reasonably priced health insurance in the Kansas City area?

I have been unemployed for over a year and without ANY health insurance. Now I find out that the job I may take DOES NOT offer health insurance! Where can I find some reasonably priced? I am so frightened to continue to be without!
--------------------
There is no such animal. However there are companies that are "cheaper" The thing you need to remember is cheaper in NOT nessisarily better. My advice to you is go to your local blue cross blushield agent and see what kind of deal they can work you.

Can I stay on my parents health insurance if I move out?

I am 23 years old and I go to school full time in California. I have a job at a restaurant that does not offer health insurance and my parents would not be contributing financially. If I move out to an apartment, can I stay on my parents health insurance?
--------------------
All you have to do is ask your parents to call their insurance company and see if you are required to live at home. Why is that a problem? How are you covered anyway by their policy if you are over age 19, regardless of your student status?

How does a health insurance work?

I got a mail from my health insurance that shows that i claimed $600 but it also shows that the same amount is ineligible? What does it mean? Does it mean that i have to pay it?SERIOUS ANSWERS Only pls
--------------------
The paper from your insurance company (the Explanation of Benefits or EOB) should have codes on the line item to explain why the charge is ineligible. It could be something as simple as the provider sent in a duplicate claim in error, didn't provide the correct coding information on the claim, or that medical record review is required. You would not have to pay for anything. But, it could be that the services is not a covered benefit under your policy, your deductible is not met, or your policy was terminated. Check the EOB for more info or call the 800 number listed and a rep can explain. Usually there is also a part of the EOB that says "what you owe". That will help you know whether you are responsible too.

Do you chose not to have health insurance and why?

I mean the people who could pay for health insurance but chose not to. Do you have a reason or a backup plan? Im seriously considering not paying for it, I pay $180/month for employer provided health insurance. That's more than $2000 a year less in my pocket if I don't visit the doctor once.
--------------------
At least in America right now you have the right to choose the amount of risk you want to take. That being said taking all the risk yourself is pretty ridiculous unless you're on Welfare as one of the previous answerers is. And, yes you'll spend $2,000 a year if you don't visit the doctor once, but what if you visit the hospital once and it's $250,000. That's 125 years worth of premiums. If you want to take added risk then just get a higher deductible. I have clients that have $40/month premiums because they're willing to take more risk. Also, most importantly consider getting coverage on your own as you hopefully know that employer provided coverage costs twice the price of individual plans. And, if your employer isn't picking up at least half the cost then it probably doesn't make sense to get....unless you're not healthy and have no choice.

How does providing health insurance pose a burden on employers?

And would they be better off, more competitive if this burden was lifted from them and health insurance came from somewhere else
--------------------
It's a burden in the sense that it is a cost that the employer must pay, even when the employees pay part of the cost, the employer is still footing at least part of the bill. Under our current system, company rates (larger pool) are much less expensive than an individual getting insurance for themselves. The issue that really angers me is when a company does not provide health insurance for employees or makes the rates so high that the employees cannot afford to buy it. In these instances of 'corporate welfare', the company is basically foisting their responsibility onto the community taxpayers. For example: *** WAL-MART Costs Taxpayers $1,557,000,000 to Support its Employees... Wal-mart keeps it's wage cost so low and benefits cost so high that state-funded (taxpayer $s) assistance programs end up footing the bill. This "principled" corporation does provide information to employees about public assistance programs in their local areas. Watch the documentary, "Wal-mart: The High Cost of Low Price", this link cites stats and sources: http://www.walmartmovie.com/facts.php

Is it possible to keep a prescription after losing your health insurance?

I am 18 and turning 19 in April (4 monthes). When I turn 19 I will no longer be on my parents insurance. If I already have been seeing a doctor and getting a prescription is it possible to keep renewing the prescription without seeing the doctor so I don't have to pay for the visit, or even with seeing the doctor, then just paying for the prescription myself without insurance?
--------------------
It depends on a few things. What the prescription is for and how flexible your doctor is willing to be. If it is a controlled substance that must be monitored closely, your doctor may be unwilling or unable to let you go more than a few months without a follow up visit. If it is something like allergy medication, then more than likely they will let more time go between visits. Just be honest and ask your doctor about it, they will let you know what options you have.

How good is a life/health insurance agent career, would it be a good choice?

Hi, I was a mortgage broker for 5 years and at one point I making almost a 6-figure income. Right now things are not that great and my income took a major decrease this year. I am thinking about getting my insurance license but then again I'm not sure if I would make very good money at it like the mortgage industry. This would be something new for me and I am not sure if it is worth it although many agents claim that it's so great and they're incomes are through the roof, not sure if that's true or just HYPE?
--------------------
It's true. You can make a ton in this industry. Of course everyone is going to tell you they make great money--who ever says "My income is down the crapper with this business!" The reason most people wash out of this business is the same reason mortgage salespeople wash out--bad prospecting and no one to see. If you were successful in another sort of financial sales, selling complex intangible products to people, you'll do fine in the insurance business. I think you'll find a little more trust from your clients off the bat. After being in the mortgage industry for a year I went into insurance, where I've been for 4 years, and I felt a little more prestigious. Maybe it was all in my mind. Oh, by the way, find one or two lines you enjoy and make it your niche. I focus on health insurance and also annuities. I do cross sell life, disability and long-term care, but if you do too much you'll spread yourself too thin. Products and regulations change so fast is hard to become an expert on all of those products, especially for me as I represent 6 carriers. I would definitely start at a place like Northwestern Mutual, MetLife, New York Life, or New England Financial before going independent. They have great training and support programs for you as you learn the business. Plus you'll have the advantage of learning from top producers doing joint appointments. Good luck to you.

What do you think about health insurance policies that do not pay for necessary treatments like Elecare?

Some kids are prescribed "food supplements" by their doctors, as the children will die or fail to thrive or have lots of learning disorders and other issues if they do not have a correct nutrition that they cannot have from foods. What do you think about this? I just saw this on a news story about a working couple whose daughter needs Elecare, but it costs $1200 a month, and the insurance will not cover it.
--------------------
Of course, it is a shame. Sadly it is a free marketplace for insurance. Instead of universal coverage, we pick and chose policies based on cost. Their policy may have been a good deal when no one was sick - aren't they all? - but now they are suffering from a lack of coverage which may have been stated in the benefits pamphlet somewhere in the fine print. So, should the drug companies be privatized? I don't think that is the answer but some sort of price controls should be allowed if they are being given grant money for research from the government to find new drugs.

What's a good health insurance company for lower middle class Americans?

Since my parents dread paying for insurance, I guess I'll have to pay for it myself. I earn an average of $150 per pay check since I don't work much because of school. What's a good company for my situation? People have recommended Blue Cross Blue Shield but I like more options.
--------------------
It depends on where you live. Not all companies offer individual insurance in every state, and each company offers a variety of different plans. Some have higher deductibles and co-payments than others. You can check http://www.ehealthinsurance.com to see what plans are available where you live, and how much they cost. Be aware that any health insurance you buy will probably eat up a large chunk of your $150 paycheck. You also said you're in school. If by "school" you mean college, you should first check to see whether any student health insurance is available through your school. If so, that might be a more economical choice for you.

health insurance for preventative care only?

I know there is catastrophic care ( in case a person gets hit by a bus, insurance may cover afew days of medical needs) , but is there health care coverage for someone who only wants preventative care? Like dental cleanings, eye exams, breast exams, you know...the yearly stuff? I am very healthy, good weight, etc. Does that exist?
--------------------
Yes, and good for you for being in good health. There are some of us out here who have just the preventative care coverage and wish that we had more to help us. It really is no use to me or for my children.
