Can we get finally affordable health insurance now?

Me and my fiance pay $650/month on health insurance and it really sucks. My fiance was denied by every health insurance b/c of a heart condition which is common in his family and I am pregnant and everybody denied me of course too. So we got coverage with Cover Colorado. With the new health reform, can we apply now at different insurances? How is that with the premium? If they need to take you, can they give you a very high premium?
--------------------
I do not know much about pricing, but I do know that now with this bill, it is illegal for any health insurance company to deny you just for having a preexisting conditions

if a person requests a court order for reimbursement of Health insurance premiums?

If a person requests a court order for reimbursement of health insurance premiums, and tells the courts that the cost is $450 per month when the actual cost is $350 per month, would this make the court order invalid? Also, if this person prosecuted for failing to pay this amount in full would this be malicious prosecution? Balto., Maryland
--------------------
A court order can only be invalidated (or lifted) by the courts. Even if it seems incorrect. So the legal answer to your question is no the order is not invalid. If the person presented false documentation to the court in order to get the order, than that person can be charged with perjury (lying to the court). To the second part, enforcing a court order is never considered malicious prosecution, period. (Good Faith Exception).

I'm going to be a full time student at age 26. Is there cheap student health insurance out there at my age?

I am working part time for a company that I've been with for 3 years and I've always been full time prior. My health insurance is going way up from moving into a part time position. Pre tax at 20 hours a week, I'll have 270 bucks of which about $100 per pay is going to come out (bi-weekly). Is there anything cheaper for a student? I'm young and don't have alot of health problems, so I don't need alot of coverage.
--------------------
If you are attending a larger institution you may be able to get coverage offered by the school. Study the coverage proposal carefully because the plans are usually limited in their benefits and network. If coverage through the school is not available or too limited I would suggest a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is much more to health insurance than a cheap price. Some might even suggest a discount plan which is not insurance at all. Ultimately, you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care with your insurance company. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles and low copays your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand because you are young, healthy and presumably use the health care system rarely you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe which will result in a relatively low monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit and still come out ahead. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation. They can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and copays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

Why do Liberals blame the high cost of health care on insurance companies and usually don't even mention the?

prices that providers are charging? The high costs originate with the health care providers. Insurance companies actually fight with providers to keep costs down as much as possible. Why would the insurance companies want health care costs to be more expensive? Do Liberals know the difference between health care providers and health insurance companies? If so why do you never hear them complain about what providers are charging in the first place?

Why should we feel inclined to save the health insurance companies?

There have been a lot of Chamber of Commerce ads that seem to be trying to appeal to common people to prevent a public health insurance option from being realized because it will put private health insurance companies out of business. Besides the "because I work for them" argument, why should we care about private health insurance companies being put out of business? What good do they ultimately serve besides the need to make a profit for shareholders? What are some arguments for saving these companies that profit from refusing to provide care to some of the customers who actually paid their premiums? For the record, I'm from Canada and used their healthcare system just fine, and I am now currently under CIGNA and working as a CPA in the US and it's been okay so far with them as well.
--------------------
We owe the insurance companies NOTHING - The insurance industry has been ripping this country off for decades now. They probably feel as if this is their duty by this time. Republicans have safeguarded the insurance company profits every step of the way - why? - payola, Insurance companies have bought everybody in the House and Senate at one time or another. And republicans have always been their most obedient servants. MoneyTalks - Citizen Concerns can take a walk.

Do You Agree With Obama Administration To Take Away Health Insurance From Fat People?

Yes thats right, now they are working on a plan/ bill to take health insurance away from people who are overweight. They think this will make people lose weight. Does this sound like socialism? communism? or is it just me? Why don't they just say what they really mean- if your fat go ahead and die cause we don't want you to get help ? That is how I read this stupid bill! They have NO RIGHT- taking away anyones health insurance! Agree?

I can't imagine this is true, his wife is a bit on the large side, would this count for her.

Does anyone know of a health insurance company that will issue a policy on a person with a bad health history?

My father lives in North Carolina. He was forced to take early retirement and isn't old enough for medicare yet. He is in decent health currently, but has a long list of cardiac problems in the past. He has not been able to find health insurance he can afford. Any ideas??
--------------------
There are a few policies he could get on; possibly he could get one through your state if available or a guaranteed issue policy through a private company. There are some of these policies out there but they're not available in every state. Go visit a local independent agent. This person knows what is available in your area and should be able to recommend something.

Does any body know what is going on with Obama and the whole health insurance thing?

Okay so I live in California. I am young and can't afford health insurance rite now. Does any one know if Obama is going to follow through with this whole health insurance thing. If so when is it supposed to kick in? And how will it work exactly? Will every body have free health insurance? Some one please explain this becuase I am realy confused.
--------------------
The plan was never to give free insurance it is to require everyone to buy it. There will be subsidies available to lower income people to help them pay for it. There is already a program for low income people though. It's called Medicaid. It has been all over the tv, newspapers and internet forever now. You must not pay much attention to what's going on around you. Obama has been flying all over the country trying to get support to get the bill passed even though more than 50% of Americans don't support it. Congress is still arguing over the bill and doesn't seem to be heading towards a compromise that will pass anytime soon. With the estimated price tag of the bill (the government always seems to underestimate) there is no way to pay for it.

Mandating people to buy extremely high priced health insurance has got to be unconstitutional, right?

I mean.....its how you go about doing it. Its one thing for the govt to tax citizens and then take the money and provide or subsidize health care such as they do in most other major countries, but to not tax them and to say we are just going to force you to buy an insurance policy that costs $8,000 a year for your family of 4 is really absurd.
--------------------
There is NOTHING "unConstitutional" about requiring Americans to pay for something, silly goose.....if there WERE then taxpayer-funded Interstates would be "illegal".... Many Republicans are fairly intelligent (but misguided) individuals, but then you have the ones who are utter morons.....(Attorneys General of Florida, South Carolina, Michigan, Alabama, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Louisiana, Idaho, Colorado, and Washington) What is "absurd" is people who have allegedly STUDIED the US Constitution but yet not actually NOTICED what it says!

It is mandatory for me to get health insurance?

I am living in British Columbia, Canada. I just found out that I am required by law to get the health insurance that the government provides. What happens if I don't want to get it? Will they send me to jail? Will they give me a fine?
--------------------
Why would anybody in their right mind not want health insurance? While the provincial healthcare system would still provide you with emergency care in he case of an accident or catastrophic illness, you'd not only continue to be billed for unpaid premiums (like the other answer said+interest on the unpaid balance and they will collect via either garnishment of your wages/seizure of any tax refunds or seizure of real property) but you'd also be on the hook for the expesne of whatever care you received as a result of the accident. Without MSP you can't even get in to see a Dr. for a routine appointment. Don't be stupid. Pay your premiums.

Is it okay for my identical twin to use my health insurance if she gets hurt?

We're twins, but work at different jobs. I have health insurance, she doesn't. We have identical DNA. If she gets hurt or an accident happens, can she use my health insurance and claim to be me? Would anyone really have evidence that she used it and that it was not me? Just a thought...

This is tough, for it end up on YOUR medical records, as they will wonder if she had her appendix out, why YOU need your appendix out.

I already have health insurance, what does universal health care do for me?

I currently pay $121 per month out of my pocket for health insurance every month, and they barely cover anything! I had surgery that was $291 a couple of weeks ago and I had to pay $245 of it. With this universal health care, does that mean I don't need to pay $121 per month anymore to receive health care?
--------------------
It's hard to answer your question without knowing the specifics of your insurance plan. But first you should understand that the health insurance reform about to passed is NOT universal health care. It only requires most people to buy private insurance if they don't already have it. If you're currently in a group health plan through your employer, your situation may not change much at all, except you might have to pay more when the insurance company raises its rates -- which will happen with or without reform. Also, if you ever lose your job or decide to start your own business, the reforms will make it easier and (hopefully) more affordable to obtain health insurance.

How much is health/dental/car insurance for a married couple (no kids) age 21 and 20?

Planning ahead... Would health insurance through our universities be cheaper? We will both still be attending college (different universities, close to each other). What would the estimated rates be per year for heath, dental, and car insurances? Thank you for any info!

When will my check arrive in the mail to help me pay for health insurance?

If you think health insurance is such a rip off?

Why don't you just go without it and pay cash for your health care? Then maybe you would see why health insurance is so expensive. Because HEALTH CARE is so EXPENSIVE even without the insurance companies.
--------------------
I cancelled my insurance policy and started saving the money I would normally pay an insurance company to cover me, and guess what? I have more money in my savings account because I cancelled my policy. It's pretty damn ridiculous that companies like that will gauge up prices to make an even BIGGER profit and take advantage of people and their health. It's disgusting. Yeah, companies are entitled to profit, but taking advantage of people to make an even bigger profit is sick. Edit: I am fortunate enough to not have had any serious issues happen, and yes, insurance probably WOULD help if I ever had something like that happen (knock on wood I never go through anything horrible). But it's still the point. Healthcare is expensive, yes, but insurance companies make more than enough to cover healthcare expenses of people PLUS make a nice profit. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to gauge the prices up on people for them to make an even bigger profit.

How would you reform the US health insurance system?

I am very leery of government control - I think the bureaucracy would waste dollars, and I'm extremely troubled by the idea of the government having so much control. I'd rather have my HMO cheat me than the government - at least there is one more than one HMO to belong to. But people who advocate government-run health care have a right to ask what the alternative is. I have a few ideas. 1) Make employer-supplied health insurance taxable income to the recipient, BUT offset the extra income with a credit for insurance. This would put people in charge of their own health care and keep them more in touch with what it costs. And the self-employed have to pay for insurance with after-tax dollars, which is unfair. Maybe employers would get out of this business somewhat. 2) Allow insurance companies more latitude to compete in a number of states. Increased competition should help some. Also encourage associations of private individuals to band together to buy insurance.

What US states have best access to health insurance/health care?

My mother is trying to figure out somewhere she can move where she will be guaranteed access to health insurance regardless of her health problems. She lives on a very small budget and cannot afford outrageous premiums. I have heard that some states guarantee access to health insurance regardless of medical conditions, and I am hoping someone can tell me if this is true, and which states do this. Or if someone could point me in the direction of a website that has this information that would also be helpful.
--------------------
Hi Gumbo.. I may can help. There exists plans for any citizen at 1970 rates in all 50 states that include pre-existing conditions and hospital advocacy all for as low as $29.95 monthly without restrictions or deductibles. All ages included. I've owned mine since 2003 and will never part with it. I am a cancer survivor and have more benefits then I could ever use.

How many people live due to not having health insurance?

I keep hearing the awful stories about people dying due to lack of health insurance. Most likely they would die if they had health inurance. Let's take a glass half full approach and guess how many people live even though they don't pay those evil insurance companies a friggin' dime.

What does your health insurance cost you?

I'm a single guy in good health and i pay about $380.00 a month for my health insurance. how much do you pay?

$95.40 per month and I never see a bill, I pick my own doctor, I am never refused any procedure my doctor wants to run and there are no limits on costs. You see, I have government run health care called Medicare.
