Anyone want to guess at how many small businesses out there can pay health Insurance and already depend on gov?

If the truth be told ( which we know no one would ever do that) (or they think they all have a valid excuse), anyone want to guess how many businesses out there, large or small can afford Health Insurance , either for their families, themselves or their workers/employees, and depend on the Government Health Insurance to service their needs....Another words.....The general public....aka: you and I , are picking up the tab....
--------------------
I don't think you know what you are talking about. There is nothing called "government health insurance" that works with businesses. The only government health insurance programs currently in the US is medicare, medicaid, and similiar state programs.

Need health insurance, or free health insurance for migraines?

I suffer from migraines, which are known for cluster headaches. I don't have any medical insurance. I've applied for medical but I'm not eligible because I am over 21 years of age and don't have any children.I have many years with this condition and it's getting worst everyday. This headache for the past 4weeks has being interfering with my lifestyle day and night. I think its time for to see a Neurologist. I need help, is there any plan or health insurance that's not expensive. Thanks
--------------------
Unfortunately, you cannot take out insurance so you can go to the doctor tomorrow. There is a 3-month probationary period with any insurance policy where they are monitoring your behavior closely. If you don't disclose your condition, yet obtain treatment for your condition within that 3-month period, your policy will be terminated. But if you DO disclose your condition to a potential insurer, you will likely not obtain coverage; or if you do, your rates will be more than you can afford. Individual insurance carriers are looking for perfectly healthy individuals to cover. We all need to remember that insurance companies are businesses. They aren't in the business of covering medical expenditures, they are in business to MAKE MONEY. If a potential carrier believes they will dole out more money than they will make on you, you will not obtain a policy. Find a medical school clinic in your area that offers free or community clinics. You may then be able to obtain a referral to a neurologist, if the practitioner thinks it is warranted. You may also want to contact a county hospital.

Does having health insurance preclude you from being able to receive medicaid?

I ask because I am below the income guideline and would love to be on medicaid because my private insurance deductible is $4000 dollars a year. :-/ thanks if you know.
--------------------
You can have private insurance and Medicaid as long as you qualify. Your private insurance will be primary and Medicaid will be secondary.

Why do those who want government run health care & government health insurance?

refuse to look at how badly our government has run the Social security insurance program? This is a perfect model to look at on how our government will run health care! There is no indication anything will change
--------------------
They'll say that Social Security is perfect ( while ignoring the many many changes to it since it's first inception) They won't consider Fannie and Freddie They will say that they truly believe that any Government run health care system will be the ONLY government run program that is immune from politics. HA Health Care + Politics = A really scary movie

Does my Lifestyle has effect on my Health insurance cost?

My Health insurance cost is high compare to some of my friends, am wondering if its as a result of my lifestyle
--------------------
Health Care and Health Insurance Costs Can Be Controlled Through Lifestyle Choices As you probably know all to well, the cost of healthcare and health insurance premiums continue to increase at levels substantially above the general inflation rate. The reasons given for these extraordinary cost increases are numerous and include: technological advancements in the medical field, increased demand for medical services and prescription drugs, the aging of the population, cost shifting caused by the uninsured and governmental reimbursement rates, state and federal mandates, and costs associated with medical related lawsuits. How does health insurance work?

so lately i've been going to the doctors a lot. My mom is the subscriber but I feel like I'm wasting all the omoney on the insurance card. Is this how it works? Is there a limitless amount of money. Will they start charging us now? I have an injury from football!
--------------------
Nope, there's no "money" on the insurance card. Usually, the limit is $1,000,000 lifetime.

Would you support starting a new federal health insurance plan that individuals could purchase if they can’t..?

Would you support starting a new federal health insurance plan that individuals could purchase if they can't afford private plans offered to them?

I think private plans should go away. There should be NO profit in the illness of American citizens. Get Wallstreet out of healthcare!

When a health insurance says the deductible is 2,000, what exactly does that mean?

I just turned 18 and dont really understand this insurance thing. . I just want to be able to go to the doctor without paying an arm and a leg. When they talk about this deductible, does that mean like if I go to the hospital, I pay the first two thousand and they pay the rest? What does this mean for regular doctor bills? Am i going to have to pay for everything unless its more than two thousand? Please help me to understand this. Thank you so much in advance.
--------------------
As noted, a deductible is what you pay before the insurance pays for anything. However, the deductible might be for all charges or it might only apply to a hospital admission. Doctors visits might be covered for a modest copay on your part or they might not be covered until you have paid your deductible. Based on what you are asking you need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. Understanding what you are buying is as important as the price. An agent can give you the knowledge you need so that you can decide what the right balance is between affordability and policy benefits. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles, low co-pays and optional vision and dental benefits your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand because you are young, presumably healthy and probably don't often use the health care system you might consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe. In this type of plan the insurance company does not pay benefits until you first reach a significant out of pocket cost (this is a deductible). Ask the agent if an HSA might be right for you. If you'd rather have more comprehensive individual health insurance coverage, such as preventive care coverage, consider a PPO or HMO plan with a lower deductible. Consider higher co-pays for doctor's office visits and perhaps not cover prescription drugs. Either of these approaches will result in a lower monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit or prescription and still come out ahead. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health status. They can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and co-pays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. (Networks in PPO and HMO plans are very important considerations). Some are going to suggest you go to their web site so that they earn a few pennies on a "click through". Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably know there is much more to choosing the right health insurance than price. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

What would you rather do without for a year? Health insurance or a decent full-time job?

With that in mind, would you rather have had Congress spent all their energies on the economy or are you glad they spent it on their health care bills?

Why is getting kids health insurance a higher priority than getting adults covered?

I don't understand this. It seems that getting kids health insurance in this country is more important than getting it for adults, when don't adults need to go to the doctor more often? If adults can't afford it, and therefore probably aren't getting the health care that they need, how are they supposed to take care of their kids?? I guess it's cheaper to get kids covered because adults generally are at a higher risk of having health problems, getting into serious accidents, etc. Why do kids really even need it? As an adult, I've have to go to the doctor more than when I was a kid. I recently had 3 wisdom teeth out, have a 4th one coming in, and I have to pay it all out of pocket because my small insurance policy won't cover dental. I think it's more important that adults get covered first.
--------------------
I feel exactly the way you do. I don't understand why there are so many programs out there for kids, but little to nothing for adults. I'm still trying to pay off my hospital bills from last year and I was only hospitalized twice. I'm 25 now and I'd hate to see how much I'm going to have to start paying once I'm older and have more issues.

What health insurance would you recommend for a LLC business owner?

Our last insurance ended 12/14/05. Both owners do not take a paycheck. Wife is not listed as an owner & would like to have more children. Wife is currently not pregnant. All employees work under 25 hours/ week. Don't have a lot of money for insurance so would like to keep it as cheap as possible as long as it has prescription coverage for a child. NEED ADVICE ASAP! Thanks!
--------------------
You need to find a good agent to recommend the best carrier but in order of least expensive to most expensive HMO, POS, Direct Access, PPO You may be able to get by with the HMO with a hospital copay rider and prescription card. It wont be the absolute cheapest but good coverage with low risk exposure. I'm not sure where you are from so its hard to say what company is best in your area.

does this sound like a reasonable deal on health insurance?

I am 24, so I am too old to be on my mom's health insurance plan, but I am also a graduate student, so I don't have a full-time job, so I can't get insurance through my job. I recently found a plan for about $180 a month and a $500 deductible, $20 copay for doctor visits, etc. Does this sound like a reasonable deal? It seems expensive to me, but I know that individual health insurance is through the roof these days.
--------------------
What you pay for health insurance is based on age, for someone your age the individual situation doesn't make too much difference. $180 sounds about right to me, I'm 43 and have a 17 year old son, I pay $632 per month for about the same deal you've got.

With the 1099 for the value of health insurance, what happens to people on Social Security?

Will that value of the insurance be added to their income? How about people still working? What if we don't have the money to pay the new Obama Tax? I have no idea the value of my insurance provided by my employer. All I know is that should grind the economy to a complete halt.
--------------------
Amazing how much Free Health Care is going to cost, isn't it? And guess what...people still aren't going to be able to afford it, but now they will have to buy it anyway. If it were such a good idea, the government wouldn't have had to make participation mandatory. Be careful what you demand a 'Right' to, because there are no 'rights' without 'obligations'.

Can the Government force someone to buy Health Insurance?

This would be the first government required purchase I Know of. Auto insurance is not required unless you own a vehicle. You are not required to buy food, clothing or shelter. All of which are more basic requirements. Plus, what prison and for how long would they send offenders who did not buy insurance, or pay the fine. Seems unenforceable to me.
--------------------
Apparently the liberals are going to try. I hear that many people, particularly young people, will just choose to pay the fine because it is cheaper than purchasing health insurance. Then, if they get sick, they will go on the government run plan. This will drive up the cost of the government option, which in turn, will drive up taxes.

Why is it that employers are saddled with providing health insurance to their employees?

If a company pays a worker a wage and that worker going out and blows it on beer and candy instead of health care it's not the companies fault. If that same person spends all his/her paycheck on junk but fails to pay the rent/mortgage , is the employer responsible for providing living quarters?
--------------------
Have you ever priced an independent health care policy? The are extremely expensive. If a company can bargain with the health care company for a group rate it is a benefit for all. First of all, less of the employee's paycheck has to go to paying for a policy. As for the company, they get a healthier work force (because they are more likely to go to the doctor when necessary), with less absenteeism. The company also will find it easier to attract employees, because all things being equal, a prospective employee with chose the company with a health care plan.

Should I sell Health Insurance with scrapbook supplies?

I want to start selling health insurance along with scrapbook supplies. Will that work? Has someone else done that? Should I move to Utah? How do you get earwax out of carpets? Thanks! Nick Young, President, CEO, Marketeer GreenPond Scrapbook/Health Insurance
--------------------
I doubt sincerely that people would take an insurance company that also sells scapbooking supplies very seriously. As for the move to Utah, go for it! What do you have to lose? And, how would one go about getting earwax on carpet in the first place?

Health insurance for NON US resident senior?

My father is 66 and in excellent health, non-smoker, looks 55, etc etc. I want to get him some health insurance, he just doesnt WANT to get it. I know its hard to get insurance at 66 but his health is great, how/where can I get him health insurance?
--------------------
Since Medicare kicks in at 65 in the US, you're not going to find any US Health companies that offer individual coverage to a 66 year old except medicare supplement. Not much market for non resident seniors. Perhaps some coverage from a Mexican company?

Home, Car, Health insurance? How to Get?

How can I get car, health, home, insurance. What documents do I need to present, do I need car insurance to drive in every state? does any company provides the three services? What is the best way to acquire them? what steps should I follow?
--------------------
Call any insurance agent or broker in the phone book where you live and they can assist you. Most states, you do need a minimum of 15,000 per person/30,000 per accident/ 5,000 property damage to license your vehicle. You need to show proof of a license, and in most cases, proof that the car is street legal. (a physical inspection by the agent is usually sufficient). If you have any moving violations, you must disclose them. If you have good grades, or are married, or have teenagers who will soon be driving, all that must be discussed as that effects your premium. Home insurance is almost as easy. Take a look at what the mortgage company requires for the replacement cost of the building. Then determine what your liabilty limits are, and how much you think you have for personal possessions. The agent usually calculates that for you. If you go with the same company for your home and auto, you usually get a multiple line discount. Get several quotes showing the same coverage for each so you can compare the quotes side by side.

With the health insurance change until you're 26, does my dad have to wait until open enrollment or can he?

I'm 24, my dad had to take me off his insurance when i was 23 because the law. I now understand the law changed until 26 effective 9/23/2010. Can my dad call and add me on currently since the law was changed or will he still have to wait until open enrollment? I know normally you have to wait but since this was a law being changed I thought it might work differently.

Most carriers are allowing enrollment for effected children outside of open enrollment but they aren't required to. He needs to call.

Do you consider mandatory private health insurance to be socialism?

If so, how is that any different than mandatory car insurance? Everyone who has a car must have it but no one ever complains about that being socialism.
--------------------
I would consider government funded socialized medicine a step towards socialism. Socialism is where the burdens are placed upon the more productive. For socialized medicine to happen socialism needs to take place to fund such a program. You can be for or against socialism but what I said is true. Added: and for the uninformed poster below me, western European countries are socialists countries I would also like to add that universal health care alone isn't enough , most europeans have private health insurance plans as well becasue they can't visit a doctor in a timely mannor.

Is Obama going to fine illegal aliens for not having health insurance? If they don't pay the fines?

Will Obama put them in jail or will he give them free health care? Most experts believe that yes the whole idea behind Obamacare is to offer illegal aliens free health care.
--------------------
There is always a democrat angle around that. Heck, the democrats did slime their way around 0bamaCare. The Washington elected AND the unions are exempt from it. That favoritism stinks. So, the democrats will find a way to protect the illegals (new voting bloc) from the fines. .
