What rights does a cancer patient if they have no health insurance?

The hospital that diagnosed my brothers cancer discharged him and told him to seek treatment at the county hospital due to no heath/medical insurance.
--------------------
He should have talked to a Social Worker at the hospital, mine did everything in her power to help me. We don't have a county hospital out here, but I didn't have any insurance and no money to pay, since I lost my job due to my cancer. She helped me get medicaid, and sent me to the places that could help me not lost my apartment as well. I think your brother should contact the social worker and see if there is any help available. I wish him the best. Hope it all works out for him. Just getting through cancer is hard enough without having problems like that arise.

what to do about a urinary tract infection and no health insurance?

I have a UTI and no health coverage. What do i do?
--------------------
Alicia - If you are correct, and you probably are, then you first need to be sure that what you have is a urinary tract infection (UTI). With burning on urination and frequent urination, you need to get to a doctor's office, or health clinic to get a rapid Urine Dipstick paper strip test done on a couple of drops of urine to detect bacteria and pus cells in the urine. If it is positive, then you need to start treatment with an appropriate antibiotic. With no health insurance, you should phone your local county health clinic, or urgent care center or county medical society office or hospital outpatient clinic and ask about free care. It is available in most places. If untreated a UT can lead to kidney damage and worse. Do not delay. Good luck!

How can Republicans be against health care reform when children have died because they didn't have insurance?

An estimated 17,000 children in the United States might have died unnecessarily over nearly two decades because they didn't have health insurance, according to a report from researchers at Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore. http://www.usnews.com/health/managing-yo…
--------------------
Simple, they refuse to accept those figures. They listen to lies and half truths rather than listen to the simple facts on this. I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it? Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2]. Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected to do this [3]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4]. FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [5]. FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [6]. That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage. If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

Well, if you're low income, you can always try to sign her up through your state Children's Health Insurance Plan. It's welfare insurance, so it's lower cost than anything else out there.

How do I get my dads health insurance to drop me so I can be accepted for another?

I am 17 and I am pregnant. I am trying to go through my doctors apointments on medicade but can't because I am already on my dads insurance. (bluecross/bluesheild) I need blue cross to drop me, but they won't because I'm under age. Is there a way around it? because I really can't afford the fee and deductable for blue cross.
--------------------
If you get married, you automatically get dropped off his policy. Besides that, you - and he - have to wait for open enrollment to come around, before you can be dropped. You should probably try to see if there's a Gabriel Project near you - www.gabrielproject.org . . . at 17, being pregnant . .. the fee and deductible is the LEAST of your problems.

Health Insurance Question - What should I do?

I have no health insurance. I never go to the doctor but occasionally have sleep problems (and once in awhile, take Ambien CR). I'm *very* poor and I only care about medical insurance enough to cover the enormous cost of this medication. What sort of insurance should I apply for? How should I go about this? I'm only 20 and don't know anything about this stuff.
--------------------
You can apply for medical assistance though your State or County.

What is your knowledge & understanding on health insurance?

I am studying this in med. assistant class. So to those who work in this field, what is medical insurance in a nutshell?
--------------------
Health insurance provides health care coverage for individuals ......there is a huge monthly premium that insurers must pay for health benefits.....such as hospital coverage for an illness or accident, regular doctors visits, and for pharmaceutical drugs. The overall costs are astronomical in the United States.......... so many people cannot afford the monthly fees to help them live a normal life.....as many people need the insurance to help them pay for maintenance drugs they need to survive. Such as illnesses as simple as Asthma and arthritis.......... people need to have daily medicine....called preventative medicine which is very costly.

How do you set up a medical transportation service to be paid by health insurance company?

i would like to transport patients to and fro' medical appts and get paid thru medical insurance companies.
--------------------
Sorry, but insurance doesn't pay for transportation in most cases except for emergency ambulance rides or transporting a patient from one hospital to another if the first hospital is unable to treat the patient.

Is it true that employer provided health insurance will be taxed as income?

I'm told section 9102 of the HC Law requires cost of employer provided insurance be reflected on employee's W2 form beginning in 2011. Logic suggests that is taxable income. What say you!
--------------------
No it is NOT true, contrary to what mis-informed GOP trolls on here would like you to believe. Check out the facts: http://www.snopes.com/politics/taxes/hr3…

Can health insurance (no dental) cover braces in some cases?

For example, central and lateral incisors are crowded. Both have moved a significant amount, causing a change in the bite (can basically not use the front teeth to bite). In something so extreme, can health insurance cover the braces needed to repair?

Medical Discount Plan ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services. Individual & Family Health Plans This is a major health insurance plan for individuals and families. If you are looking for comprehensive long term health insurance coverage for yourself and/or your family members who are 62 years old or younger - this is the plan to choose. Short Term Medical Plans This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months. YOu are not the only one who met this problem,I have met this type of problem before.I have good experience here    www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info    to solve my similiar problem.

Why do people who oppose the health insurance reform bill think it's socialistic?

It uses privatization, not socialistic principles. The reason why the rest of the world pays half per capita for health care (and get better outcomes) is because EVERYBODY IS COVERED. Don't people understand that for the price to go down, everyone has to be included and contribute. That's why there's the mandate. People are more emotional than logical.
--------------------
Because they've been parroting everything they "know" for so long that they can't stop themselves.

Would it be morally correct for politicians to give up their taxpayer paid health insurance?

They have the money to pay for their own AND they get re-election money from the insurance industry.
--------------------
Well, their paycheck comes from tax dollars anyway, so this hardly changes anything. On the other hand, House Resolution 615 would make a substantial difference: "That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that Members who vote in favor of the establishment of a public, Federal Government run health insurance option are urged to forgo their right to participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree to enroll under that public option." No Congressman who has gone on record supporting any form of the public option has agreed to sign onto this bill. Apparently, any such plan is good enough for taxpayers, but they think they deserve a higher standard of care. But who ever expected that there would ever be a politician who wasn't a hypocrite?

Do I have to pay my health insurance premiums while off work due to work related injury(workmans comp)Nebraska

I'm on TDD( temp disability) thru workmans comp. my employer just called telling me i have to pay my medical insurance thats due.
--------------------
If you have medical insurance through your employer, you may need to pay for it to keep it current. What you receive for workman's compensation is not paid out of your health insurance. These are separate entities and, after a certain time on disability, your employer is no longer responsible for paying your health insurance.

What can you do if your health insurance denies a claim after you've had an operation?

and initially you were told that they would cover you almost in full. (i got a bill for 17 thousand dollars) for an operation I had that my doctor's secretary told me would be covered 90% by insurance.
--------------------
Take it up with the doctor's secretary. Nice of her to speak for the insurance company. What the secretary says doesn't bind the insurer to anything. In the meantime, appeal the claim. Can't get any worse.

Do medical office assistants in Michigan make much money and do they get health insurance?

I am thinking about getting a certificate in medical office assistant, but don't know if it's worth it. College really isn't for me, but I need a job that offers insurance and doesn't require a lot of training/schooling. Are there other jobs in the medical field that don't take a lot of training? I've been searching around online but not getting too far.
--------------------
In arizona i believe they pay anywhere from $10-18 an hour. I'll be starting the MA program here in september, its going to cost me about $5300 and i should be finished in 10-12 months. I would hope they get good health benefits. Hope this helps!

Voluntary health insurance: you voluntarily choose to have other people pay your bills?

Why do those who are pro-insurance seem to forget that other people are paying off their medical bills through their premiums? What happened to conservatives paying their own way in life? Hey republicans and conservatives: how about you pay your medical bills and I'll pay mine, and we do away with insurance.
--------------------
It might indeed have been better if things had remained that way. Health insurance was, after all, quite unusual before World War II. Two of the effects of the expanding insurance industry have been (1) costs have outstripped the rate of inflation by a good margin and (2) philanthropy, with the wealthy donating entire hospitals at times, has essentially disappeared from the scene. I don't quite see how the clock could be turned back, though.

Is it constitutional for the Federal Government to mandate that all individuals purchase health insurance?

This provision of the health care bill seems unsupportable to me. I don't know what constitutional authority such a requirement would be enacted under.
--------------------
no, and neither is providing healthcare to the american people. but since precedent has been set, there may not even be recourse in the SCOTUS now to stop this.

Do you really believe republican leaders are opposed to forcing Americans to buy health insurance?

After engineering the health care industry, this is their dream come true. And when people complain, they can blame it on Democrats. Are you fooled by their phony "opposition"?
--------------------
HUH? You obviously have not read the bill. Hell yes they are opposed...to the bill... Yes they are opposed to forcing folks to pay for your insurance...had nothing to do with them buying insurance it is paying for YOU to have free insurance..and making them pay for others to get the same insurance but not pay the same..it is SOCIALISM.. It is all the Government agencies created..the bloated convoluted system that will force out private insurance.. You do not know anything... You have not read the bill... It is about giving UNIONS a pass on healthcare (for votes) and letting the taxpayer foot the bill. You really don't know about the bill it is about allowing Muslims to not have to buy health insurance... yea you sure did not know that now did you?
