will a new health insurance policy pay for a breast reduction?

my husband has a very small business and we do not have any health insurance, we have a general physician that we rarely need. I was wondering if there is any time limit on how long you need to have coverage should you opt for a breast reduction. I am a size 36DD, my breast are really huge and they hurt like helll. I don't like them touched and my back it beginning to hunch over little by little. my shoulders have indentions in them because of the weight and I can't go jogging without being tied up with something. I can't sleep on my stomach at night because its like I am sleeping on two canteloupes. I really need a breast reduction. If anyone knows anything helpful please enlighten me as this will improve the quality of my life.
--------------------
The moment your health insurance comes into affect is the very moment you can go to a PS and have them send in the information to your insurance company for approval. I was with United Healthcare for a short time before I went to see a few PS's for a breast reduction and I was approved in no time. I did not need any documentation from my family doctor or any type of weight loss or chiropractic appointment, but EVERY insurance company and plan is different. You may get word back from the insurance company that you need to lose weight (which is hard and did not work for me), or you need other medical documentation. You will never know if you need this unless you get word back from the insurance company. With your back pain and sore breasts, make sure you complain about that. This site helped me out a LOT with my research and before/after surgery: http://www.breasthealthonline.com It has a FAQ section as well as a support board and picture board (which I highly recommend applying for it is TOTALLY worth it!).

Do you want McCain to tax working people's health insurance?

John McCain wants to add a new tax on working people by taxing people who get health insurance. This is part of what he calls his "health care reform" plan. To me, it's a horrible money-grab from a guy who's only pretending to be fiscally conservative and only pretending to fix health care. What do you think of it?
--------------------
Thank you for posting about a real issue. No I do not want that. It would lead what small businesses that carry insurance for their employees to drop the coverage pronto. As for the source you need to watch the McCain/Obama debate again. And those who have no jobs? 8% unemployment here now-a tax break is not an option when you have NO INCOME. Believe or not some of those 8% unemployed have worked their entire lives until their jobs were out sourced overseas. Some have lost their homes and were forced to seek welfare to feed their families. Some had the misfortune to have gotten ill. What about them? Many are single parent females forced to raise their children at below poverty levels. I have known some people who used to look down at "public assistance" receivers as lazy dead beats-until they themselves were forced to seek help. The Republicans tend to give, give, give to the rich. The Democrats tend to give, give give? Then why were we paying down the National Debt when Clinton was the President? Why was was unemployment at 3%?

Why public opt for health insurance and not public opt for health auto insurance?

Just a random question. Auto insurance is required in most (if not all) states. Health insurance is not yet. They both cost about the same out of pocket. Just curious as to why people who support public option are not also complaining about the cost of mandatory liability.
--------------------
Financial responsibility is required, not insurance... Also, the insurance is for damage YOU do to ANOTHER vehicle... coverage for YOUR car is OPTIONAL.

Can I purchase my own health insurance instead of using what is provided by my husband's employer?

I ask this because what if I found another insurance company that I like better than the one provided?
--------------------
Absolutely, you can. Just be sure you know what you're getting, coverage wise, and exactly what the costs are. Rarely do you get a "better deal" on an individual policy.

As an employer about how much would I spend a month for health insurance on a single employee?

How about workers comp insurance for 1 employee? If you just give a rough estimate or a good source to find this info. would be appreciated.
--------------------
Workman's comp insurance varies state to state and by the type of business, so you need to contact an agent locally for that quote. Health insurance - if you're paying for the whole boat - figure a premium of $350-$400 for one employee for decent coverage. Again, it'll vary slightly by your area and the type of coverage. Your best bet to get the best deal is to work with a local agent and try to get both policies from that one agent - they'll be more committed to getting you the best deals out there.

Is this why health insurance is so expensive?

Does this not piss you off? If the health insurance companies would quit lobbying and quit giving money to Congress, they could save us some money. In turn there wouldn't be an outcry from the left about a government option. http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2009/06/… Notice how much contributions have increased in recent years, then go look at how much premiums have gone up recently. To those saying the government is there to fix our problems, they're PART OF THE PROBLEM.
--------------------
That's money well spent to protect the hundreds of billions in profits those companies make ripping the public off. Yes, the government is part of the problem, but not government administration, but rather the law-makers. This is what happens when you have idiocy rulings from the Supreme Court like "corporations are actual people" and "money is speech." Make all elections 100% publicly funded, and don't allow corporations to meddle in the politics of human beings, and you'd see government, once again, by the people and for the people.

Can't we make a compromise between all out socialized healthcare and private health insurance?

Can't we do something like give insurance companies tax breaks for covering x amount of people who earn low wages at a sharply reduced price? Or have a smaller government program only for those who cannot afford insurance?
--------------------
I think it's very possible to have a hybrid or versatile system. The gov. is not planning to take away people's options for private insurance and make everyone use the "socialized healthcare" providers. Those are scare tactics from those who don't want health care to be affordable and available to all. We could be smart and find ways to let the gov. negotiate for lower prices to help the uninsured, but guess who doesn't want lower prices for medicine? We could also say, hey if you get free care, you can't file lawsuits for everythng, but guess who's against that?

If I think I may have a disease and want to get health insurance?

If i get insurance and then go in right away will they be able to void the policy? If so how long would i have to wait?
--------------------
All insurance companies will view this as a pre-existing condition. They consider pre-existing conditions as a condition that you've received medical treatment, consultation, or advice, or that a "prudent person" would seek medical treatment, consultation, or advice. The fact that you're asking this question means you are a prudent person and so the policy would be rescinded. Many pre-existing conditions can be covered after 6 - 12 months if you disclose the condition, depending on your state. However, many questions they ask on the application go back 5 to 10 years. You may get answers here concerning discount cards. Be very wary of medical discount cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed nor insured. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of "save up to 80%" be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn't find any doctors in the whole state that actually took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well. Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won't give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they're still taking the card (many don't even know that they're listed as a provider) and that they're accepting new patients.

Isn't employer provided health insurance a form of income? Why is it not taxed as income?

Your employer provided heath insurance is compensation for you working there. Why isn't it taxed like regular income? Just because you don't get it in the form of a paycheck it doesn't mean its not compensation.
--------------------
Because tax law is not always about generating revenue for the government. In many cases (such as this one) it is intended to encourage something that is seen as beneficial to society. Since our society - in general - regards a person's having health insurance as a 'good thing' we provid a tax benefit to encourage people to have it. In effect - by keeping health insurance tax free, more people will have it.

Intend to immigrate to USA as parents of a US citizen. Are we entitled to health insurance on entry?

We are past 60 years of age & have no intention of working there. Cannot we get insured under "Health Care" on entry to the USA?
--------------------
No. As a part of your immigration visa packet somebody filled out an affidavit of support. That's the person who will be responsible for your care. After you've been in the the United States for 5 years, if you are past the age of 65, you will be eligible for Medicare. However, your premiums will be MUCH higher than an American citizen pays because you did not work and pay into the system for 10 years. Expect to pay about $700 a month, each.

How did airplane bomber get medical treatment without Health Insurance?

I thought people without insurance are dying on the streets in America every minute like the liberals say. Not only did the airplane Detroit bomber get medical treatment at a Michigan hospital asap but treatment at the best burn center in America. The doc wants to continue giving him skin graphs. Hum? We really need to change our healthcare system hah?
--------------------
But people are dying due to lack of preventative healthcare. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/interact… I hope you find the above article of use. And yes, the airplane bomber did get treatment as emergency treatment is offered to all in the USA. FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [a] FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [b] FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [c] FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [d] FACT - Obama was elected by the American people to bring in change [e] FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies screwing the American people [f] FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and in Switzerland [g] If anyone can prove the facts above are wrong, e-mail me and let me know.

Anyone want to guess at how many small businesses out there can pay health Insurance and already depend on gov?

If the truth be told ( which we know no one would ever do that) (or they think they all have a valid excuse), anyone want to guess how many businesses out there, large or small can afford Health Insurance , either for their families, themselves or their workers/employees, and depend on the Government Health Insurance to service their needs....Another words.....The general public....aka: you and I , are picking up the tab....
--------------------
I don't think you know what you are talking about. There is nothing called "government health insurance" that works with businesses. The only government health insurance programs currently in the US is medicare, medicaid, and similiar state programs.

How many self-employed individuals will cancel their health insurance if Obamacare passes?

I know I will. If they can't deny me coverage when I get sick, it would be stupid to keep paying the insurance until I need it.
--------------------
Our small firm will have to, I wont be able to afford it and will probably have to lay a few people off which in turn will wipe us out. I wonder if Obama will stand with his arm around ME during a photo-op when that happens. Probably not. Edit to Cheesecake: I'm a 46 year old architect with seven employees. Explain to me in detail how I will be able to afford the current healthcare bill that was just released yesterday. I'll wait... Edit to BillyBlaze: Same challenge, explain it, in detail. Cheesecake, Billy - We're all waiting...

I Already Have Health Insurance. Can I Be Exempt From the Health Care Law, Like the Lawmakers?

I want to be exempt from the health care law, just like the lawmakers are. The good people on YA tell me lawmakers are exempt from the law because the already have insurance. Well, I do too. How do I exempt myself from the health care law, because I already have insurance?
--------------------
You want to be exempt from what exactly? Getting dropped from your health insurance when you really need it because they find something that they suddenly declare to be a preexisting condition? The individual mandate doesn't apply to you because you are already in compliance with it, so don't worry. If you qualify for a subsidy, you don't have to take it. You're exempt. You will have to pay any applicable taxes, but that depends on your income and your current plan. But for that, you'll be making sure that your plan will actually keep covering you, even if you get sick. Sounds like a good deal to me.

what is considered as pre existing conditions for health insurance?

will an insurance company just turn you down automatically if you have pre existing conditions, or will you find out later on when you try to file a claim that your coverage is limited? i get bcbs through my job, and im single.
--------------------
Ok. For starters, if you're getting Insurance through you job, you are part of a Group Health Plan and cannot actually be turned down. That's one of the advantages for Group Health coverage. Also, you don't really have an agent to talk too because the Sales Agent sold the policy to the company, not to you. Instead, talk to your Human Resources department. If you were to go to the doctor with one of the preexisting conditions that your policy excludes, you would be informed when the claim was denied. While I was working for an insurance company, occasionally I'd see claims denied incorrectly because the system had thought the person was seen for something that would have been preexisting. It happens. Always question claims. In general, Preexisting conditions are chronic conditions that existed before you had insurance. These are the kinds that would get people to go out and get insurance. Because insurance doesn't work if people only have a policy when they are sick and drop it when they aren't. Now, each state has it's own laws, so it's hard to be specific. Indeed, in each state BCBS has slightly different rules to accommodate the vast changes in law. So ask you HR. Also, call BCBS and ask for a Plan Certificate, Plan Booklet, ect. It's the coverage of your plan laid out in boring detail. It will have a list of exclusions.

What is the biggest problem to day in the health Insurance world in the doctor-insurer-customer relationship?

I'm looking for some sources, have insurance companies been in court with doctors or clients about the lack of communication between all 3 parties?thanks
--------------------
The problem as I see it is that the insurance industry is dictating what the doctor can and cannot do for a patient regardless of the health outcome for the patient. The insurance company is looking at the bottom line. The doctor is looking at the patient. I've known a lot of people who were denied needed medical tests or surgeries simply because the insurance company refused to pay for them.
