I have my own health insurance. How will these proposed Healthcare reform measures affect me?

Am I going to have to pay more now?
--------------------
There is no reason whatsoever to believe your premiums would increase. If anything more competition from the public sector will force existing insurers to be more competetive. You existing insurer will also have to cover pre-existing conditions.

I lost my job. How do I pay child suppot and health insurance for my kid/?

I have been paying child support for the past 6 years, never missed a payment. I do not have any income now that I lost my job. I also have a home mortgage and 2 car payments to make. I bought my house last year and with the market being so rough, I cannot sell the house without a huge loss.
--------------------
Maybe you could sell one of the cars for extra money. Or apply for health insurance through your state.

What is a "contracted plan" when it comes to health insurance? The doctor said that the procedure would be

fully covered only if it was a contracted plan-what is that?
--------------------
It probably means your plan uses a Preferred Provider Network and your doctor(provider of service) must be contracted with that plan. For example, if your plan uses the Blue Cross PPO, your doctor must be contracted with the Blue Cross PPO for the service to be covered at 100%

My employed mom, has to pay for health insurance out of pocket, at around 5,000 a year, is there a better way?

She is 58, for the most part is healthy, "cancer survivor," her employer has/offers something that is merely a rouse by calling itself insurance (low premium, cap what it pays in the low thousands, and frankly should not be allowed to be called insurance). To the point... she sought out a major health insurance provider and pays premiums of approximately $5,000 annually and it has a deductible as well and does not include prescription drug coverage. Now consider my mother has an income of $20,000, regularly taking medications and is a responsible person and has all of the routine check-ups a person should have and follows through with all recommended procedures from her doctor. Factor in all associated health care costs and living expenses (food, heat, electricity...) and her expenses exceed her take home income, and I cover the difference, to be free of debt. Is there a better way? Is there something available to her where she can at least break even? I am at a loss on this matter.

My dad says yes. I say no. Who's right?

You. Ask your dad if he likes the his insurance premiums taxed? That is McCain's plan.

Affordable health insurance for pregnancy in Washington DC or Maryland?

Do anyone know of a good affordable health insurance that cover pregnancy I mean everything from appointments and labor and delivery besides medicare?
--------------------
I am guessing your employer does not offer insurance... If not I would consider obtaining a job that offers those benefits, otherwise you will be paying a huge premium for self coverage. You can try UHC and Anthem, but they are all going to be high.

How do I get health insurance for a child that provides coverage in both california and washington?

We share custody and so she lives in two states and we need her protected in both, but are unable to purchase seperate insurance because they won't insure her if she already holds insurance in another state....
--------------------
You can have more than one policy. Both parents should have an insurance policy for their child. The primary custodial parent ( the parent the child lives with most of the time), is the primary card holder, the secondary is the other parent.

Can my husband quit his job and I keep the health insurance?

My husband wants to switch jobs, but I am pregnant and for complex reasons need to stay with my insurance (through his work). Can I stay with the same insurance indefinitely if he quits and not have my plan/benefits change at all?
--------------------
No more than likely not. His employer is giving him the benefits, so if he is no longer with the company then he doesn't get insurance from them. Unless they were super friendly and oddly helpful.

Why does my parent's health insurance require me to work in college?

I was just taken off my parent's insurance company because I recently quit my job because it was getting in the way of my academics. I don't understand why I need to work when I am already a full-time college student taking 17.5 credits. Can anybody tell me why this is, or if they know of any other insurance companies that I can turn to that doesn't require this?
--------------------
I think your information is incorrect. The insurer would be concerned about your age and student status - not employment status. Who is telling you this?

Should we have more freedom or less freedom in the purchase of health insurance?

More freedom: The right to decide whether to buy health insurance or to self-insure; greater choices among policies offered by private insurers; the right to carry a policy across state lines; the right to choose for ourselves what will and won't be insured. Less freedom: A government requirement to purchase health insurance with fines or jail for those who do not buy policies; a single government-mandated policy rather than choices among policies; mandated coverage of abortion; government panels to decide whether we will be treated or denied treatment.
--------------------
More freedom, essentially by opening up the current market to more competition across state lines will essentially flush out those companies that are charging too much. As we have already seen the government can not find their way out of a paper bag with the lights on, why in the world would we want them to destroy our great health care system too. It would be just like the post office and Amtrak over budget and mismanaged with poor results in the end. Rationed health care would be an awful thing.
