Waiting Period To Use New Health Insurance?

I realize the first doctor visit and maybe whatever tests he might run are going to be paid by me up to the max of the deductible. But what about a waiting period. If you need to see a doctor and the doctor runs tests say two weeks after you get the insurance, are those expenses going to be questioned or subject to rejection, or will the insurer just run them against the deductible, co-pay and full pay as stated in the policy? Any help appreciated.

Pre-existing pregnancy and swithcing health insurance carrieres?

My wife is pregnant, and I've recently changed jobs. I have family medical coverage with Aetna which lapses as of 1/1/089, as of that point I can enroll in Cobra which is outrageously expensive. Do I have to use Cobra insurance or can I choose my own provider?
--------------------
Does your new employer provide health insurance? Ask them is there are any pre-existing condition exceptions. Probably not, I think those went away during the Clinton administration. So your new insurance should cover you.

Would you drop your expensive health insurance when Obama finds a less expensive way to insure us all?

Or will you insist a good deal is socialist as you always do before you fact check?
--------------------
you're dreaming or deluded. Medicare is underfunded by $48 TRILLION. Add more for 0bama's dream. Looks like Grandma is going to have to suffer and not live as long. I'm going to go tell my Grandma the good 0bama news.

Is individual health insurance deductible?

Hi... couple of facts.... 1. My husband's company does not offer health insurance, so we buy his own individual policy. 2. I have a preexisting condition that his individual policy won't cover, so I have a state sponsored insurance policy. I also have a small policy that my work requires me to have. We pay $209/ mo for him and $477 for me out of our own pockets. Would we be able to deduct all of this or is there a limit on how much we can deduct?

Is it illegal in Washington DC to be covered by 2 different health insurance plans.?

I am covered by United Healthcare thru my job and Medicaid, is that illegal.
--------------------
How is it you have a job and medicaid, too? Isn't that illegal? Usually, people covered by a group healthcare plan cannot be eligible for medicaid. You should notify your social worker and have it stopped, as it is fraud.

How come the S-CHIP bill won't give ME "free" health insurance?

It's for CHILDREN. And I am someone's child. The bill would not allow "free" health insurance to any "child" over 26. I may be an adult of 54 (just like legal adults of 26) but this bill prevents me from stealing your tax dollars to pay MY bills. It's so unfairrrrrrrrrrr. .
--------------------
I want free stuff too! Would Hillary's proposal to give $5,000 to every child born in the US be retroactive? I like free stuff, I hope Hillary gets elected so the government gives me more reasons not to work anymore. People also need transportation, homes and entertainment (for stress relief, which has been proven to be good for your health), so let's get those democrats elected, cause I think my transmission is starting to fail, and they are too expensive for me to be paying for.

How can I find inexpensive health insurance with maternity coverage?

Low premiums, Low out of pocket costs, Low deductibles
--------------------
The ONLY way to get this is to get hired on for a job with great benefits, and even then the exclusionary period may say you have no pregnancy coverage until nine months after you sign up. Other than that, nothing is priced low.

I recommend speaking with an insurance broker. A broker works with several companies, and can find the best policy and terms for you. To find a broker in your area, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote.

Poll: How much do you pay a month for health insurance?

We just had open enrollment at work thru our union and i pay $68 for Blue Cross, i was just curious what other people pay.
--------------------
I pay $70 per month toward my health & dental insurance. I also have a deductible (not huge) and a co-pay. My employer pays $1,700 per month for my health ins. and dental plan premiums (family plan--husband and I, no kids). While I personally am not paying that $1,700 my co-workers and I have taken pay cuts on salary, pay freezes, etc. in order to maintain health insurance. Also, as I'm sure most people understand, my employer offers up a "pot of money" each year for our package increase--salary and benefits. So all the money that gets sucked up into health insurance premiums takes away from what could go toward salaries.

Do you think that condoms should be covered by health insurance?

I think they should at least pay a portion of the cost because they have been proven to prevent STD's and pregnancy. (For the most part anyway) They cover other birth control methods, so why not?
--------------------
It's an interesting question, but technically speaking, it's an over-the-counter device. Insurance companies tend to only cover those items that are prescribed. Prescriptions for condoms went the way of the Edsel a long time ago, which I think is a good thing. Pay to play, that's what I say.

Which would be more expensive - Universal Health Insurance or going to war with IRAN?

I don't think people really understand the magnitude of this election... If McCain, Huckabee or Romney is elected, we will be going into another war in the middle east while leaving the first 3 undone and unpaid for. If Hillary Clinton is elected, we can finally tell HMO's and powerful Insurance companies to take a hike and manage our own healthcare. Which do you think is potentially more costly?
--------------------
With as much money as we are wasting on warring with nations that are no threat to us directly...? We could've used it to pay for a lot of things easily--including universal healthcare. But you know, the military industrial complex NEEDS its trillions of dollars in bloated defense spending; especially since most of its F-15's are grounded. (heh) So the little people can't HAVE a good education, a good infrastructure, more jobs, better healthcare, pensions, and etc, etc, etc... The rich have to survive and the poor have to die. Isn't that the new GOP motto?

What impact will the new government health care insurance have on jobs in the health care field?

I am planning on going into nursing, but I'm afraid that this will greatly reduce job opportunities and cut the pay of health care workers.
--------------------
if nursing is what you want to do then do it. It will always be in demand. With this d@mn health care crap in play, they might cut pay. Sure more people, but it's basically medicaid for all. Medicare pays like sh!t. Therefore hospitals make less. They can't pay too little though or the hospitals will lose nurses. But keep in mind try to work for a private hospital. They can accept or decline any insurance they want. So besides in the er where you have to stabilize any and all patients, regardless of pay, the private hospitals and md offices will possibly/probably refuse or limit the number of patients with this government insurance. Don't change what you want to do or become because of what might happen. Who knows, obama may be voted out next election and the new president might veto this health care plan. And things will be back to normal. If you want to be a nurse, then do it. If you change to do something else because of this you might not be as happy. Good luck!

Employer is located in NY, Injury occured while at work doing normal daily job, have been out of work since end of August, awaiting workers comp approval for surgery

If health insurance copay for generic drug is more than the price of drug what do you pay?

I am looking at medicare supplement plans. Most plans say they cover generic drugs. The copay for one plan for a 30 day supply of a generic drug is $10. Suppose the generic drug is one that Wal-mart charges $4 for a 30 day supply. What do you pay; $4 or $10?
--------------------
The way my plan works is you pay the copay or the cost of the drug, whichever is less. For example, I have a $10 copay for generic drugs. I recently filled a prescription that only cost $8, so I only paid $8. I'm pretty sure this is the way it works with most plans, but it's always a good idea to double check. Contact the customer service line for the plans you are interested in. Good luck.

I dont know what to do about our health insurance can someone help please?

Its open enrollment for my husband's employer and we are struggling with a tough choice.. whether or not to keep or drop our health insurance, we are barely surviving as is but as of next year our insurance is going up again, and we cant meet the deductibles, copays. over the past year we havent even really used it because we couldn't afford to. I have done the math, and it would be cheaper for our situation to just pay cash for visits, except what happens if something serious arises. Can anyone offer some advice Thank you

My family and I are travelling to the UK for 2 weeks. Should we get travel health insurance?

My husband is a British citizen and would be covered over there but, what about his family?
--------------------
Yes, you should always take out travel insurance...in any case why should the hard pressed British tax payer pay medical costs for your family just because your husband is British....and as another answerer said, if he isn't resident then he is not covered either...

Do the healty young people who voted in Obama realize that they will have to buy health insurance?

Whether they need it or not?
--------------------
Not to mention pay more than they will use to subsidize older Americans who use and benefit from it. Young people only need inexpensive catastrophic health insurance to cover big cost unexpected problems. Prior to 1984 we had a phone monopoly, MA BELL. You had to lease a phone, had little or no choice of service. Long distance was unaffordable, you were at the mercy of Ma Bell and government regulations. Less than half the population could afford phone service 25 years after the break up, and a TRUE free market was created, service today is no comparison to the poor service during the monopoly when there was no competitor to turn to. You can own your own equipment, and again, far superior to phones you were forced to lease back then. And all at much, much lower prices. Today, everyone can afford phones and services. Breaking up the monopoly and creating a truly free market made that possible I only hope government run care can come even close to creating a system where health care service improves tenfold, while prices and affordability also make it dramatically more available to everyone, like the creation of a real free market proved it could accomplish

when do most small IT consulting companies begin health insurance for new employees?

is it 30 days, 60 days 90 day or 6 months after hire date. I'm looking for research material.
--------------------
Many never do. For small companies, health insurance is difficult to afford. The best thing to do is for the organization to join some sort of Professional Employees Organization (PEO) so they can get more affordable group rates. If they do offer health insurance, the start date depends upon the company. Some offer it the day your start work. But, 30 days and 90 days are the most common for small companies.
