I don't have health insurance, but work wants a doctor's note, how do I find a doctor?

Specifically one that won't charge me an arm and a leg. I earn minimum wage. I live in Providence, RI.
--------------------
Go to an urgent care clinic. No appointments necessary, and it is pretty cheap for Doctor's care.

Can anyone explain how health insurance equates car insurance, watched obama's explanation -it makes no sense?

Not everyone drives or owns a car in America, will we be now forced to have a drivers license,to own a car -will it have to be made by GM ?Its just a ridiculous assimilation devoid of commonality, other than we do give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants-just like obama care will.
--------------------
It doesn't make sense and is just another lame explanation. What really is lame is Obama's explanation about how this isn't a tax increase. "Asked how that could not be considered a hike, Stephanopoulos inquired, "Under this mandate, the government is forcing people to spend money, fining you if you don't. How is that not a tax?" President Obama responded " No, but -- but, George, you -- you can't just make up that language and decide that that's called a tax increase." Stephanopoulos then gave the dictionary definition – "I don't think I'm making it up. Merriam- Webster's dictionary: Tax, "a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes." Mr. Obama rejected the notion it was a tax increase and said pulling the dictionary out meant the host was "stretching" a little. He said, "No. That -- that's not true, George. The -- for us to say that you've got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase." http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2009… It's a tax increase and His Majesty is "stretching" it a little.

WILL SHORT TERM HEALTH INSURANCE PAY?

Has anyone had any experience with short term health insurance? I wanted to know if this insurance will pay for a breast reduction? It is medically needed. The insurance period is 6 months and the plan states out-patient surgery is covered and that is what the surgery will be. Any advice is really appreciated. Thanks
--------------------
The second answer is correct - there's no way breast reduction will be covered by short term insurance. It was a 'pre-existing condition' (assuming there is a medical need) and so will be specifically excluded. Also, a breast reduction really isn't an outpatient procedure, or at least it shouldn't be! It's serious invasive surgery, not something that can (or should) be rushed through in an afternoon. If you really, really need one you'll need to get saving I'm afraid... though hopefully you can find an alternative less drastic way of learning to get along with your girls! Best of luck! :)

I think I have diabetes but have no health insurance - what should I do?

I am fatigued, I am abnormally thirsty, I am jittery sometimes, I either eat, or don't eat, and it runs im my family.
--------------------
You can go to the fire dept and they will test you. Diabetes has many signs and you will know when they hit you. If you are not diabetic (where your pancreas produces little to no insulin) you could be just the opposite, hyperglycemic (your pancreas produces more insulin than the body needs). I would get checked asap for your health AND peace of mind!

Health insurance premium deduction?

I paid out of pocket health insurance premium in 2007 and claimed it as a deduction on my taxes. Now I have received a notice from the State saying that premiums paid with pre-tax dollars are not allowed as a tax deduction, even though my W2 does not show it. What can I show them as proof.

If Health insurance providers were on the verge of bankruptcy would the govt give billion $ bailouts?

and give everyone $4500.00 towards a policy ?Is this just reserved for unions and other mismanaged companies?
--------------------
LMAO! I don't think simple solutions are what the government is all about, if it isn't right then they won't fix it. I feel that the only way the government will get involved is if they can screw it up and say it's for our own good. Obama wants to destroy the private insurance companies and take away our right to chose, why would he want you to have a life saving procedure done in time? it just goes against his eugenics beliefs. This entire thing is so simple and easy to fix, first the government gave the power to insurance companies to be selective and charge as they see fit. The government can force the private insurance companies to base your premiums on your income level, and refund them for any losses thru taxes. Why go thru the billions of tax payer dollars to establish a system that's already in place? Think about how many Americans have their own health insurance, is it really fair to make those who are productive citizens to loose what they have worked for? I know this sounds crappy but we were not all created equal, we born to be different. Obama wants this nation to be equal and thats not the way God intended it, if we are all equal then who will do the jobs that you won't? who will be the Doctor or Nurse? who will build your houses? who will purchase your goods? Does this new health care reform cover in home care? does it take care of our parents the way they took care of us? I think the elderly have earned their right to be taken care of no matter the expense. Obama doesn't give a crap about the elderly, look at how he talked about his own grandmother, and where was he when she was dying? He showed his true colors when he chose to campaign over being with his grandmother when she passed away, the woman who cared for him the most.

I have United Health Care Insurance, How much will it cost me to have a baby?

From birth at the hospital to the babies check ups, any comments will be greatly appreciated!
--------------------
We have united health care insurance through my husband's job with the railroad (I do not know if that makes a difference?) It cost us $15. That included the delivery, epidural, hospital stay, the pediatrician to look at baby, all the newborn tests, everything. For my prenatal care was $15 also. So $30 total from first prenatal to bring baby home. What a blessing this insurance is!

what kind of health insurance plan do you have?

is it for a single person or family plan and I'm not trying to get personal but how much do you pay a month also whats your co-pay per visit and how much is it per ER visit Thank you so much, I have been looking for health insurance for a while now and my military coverage for a college student is about to end. Thanks again
--------------------
I'm covered through work which offers a Health Savings Account with a $2500 deductible and $2000 maximum out-of-pocket through UnitedHealthcare. I have to pay the full amount for doctors visits and prescriptions instead of a co-pay. The money I put into the HSA is pre-tax dollars, and I earn a whopping 3% interest on that money. It's still cheaper than anything I could get on my own outside work. ehealthinsurance.com offers a comparison search feature. Have you checked with your university or are you a member of a professional organization? They usually have relationships with private insurance companies that might help getting a better rate or coverage. One last thing: UnitedHealthcare is the WORST insurance company I've ever dealt with. I would not recommend using them. Good luck!

Are health insurance deductibles based on PLAN year or CALENDAR year? What if a new plan starts Dec. 1?

If based on CALENDAR year, do I get screwed every year on all expenses incurred during December? We always have a new plan on Dec. 1...so any out-of-pocket costs during December won't add up to the calendar year deductible. Then, does the meter reset to zero on January 1, and nothing I spent in December counts? Please tell me this ain't so!
--------------------
Bad news about that: Calendar Year Deductible for about 99.999% of the plans out there. Say you started in Dec 2007. You got a little hosed on your medical expenses counting to your deductible last year. This year your expenses in December will count on your 2008 deductible. So, the money you've spent on your health care throughout the year still applies in December... it doesn't get zeroed out Dec 1 AND Jan 1. Well, no plans do that to my knowledge, but I don't know what you have, or what State you are in. You should be able to call your carrier (the number will be on your insurance card) and ask for clarification on anything.

Health insurance question regarding pre-existing condition?

My wisdom teeth are coming through and I didn't realize I might need oral surgery which is really expensive. It isn't an urgent matter that they are coming through but my application for health insurance is basically void because it is a "pre-existing condition" only because I have experienced some pain of them coming through but they haven't given me any pain in months and they don't need to be removed straight away. Is that right?
--------------------
it is probably very rare that you will actually need oral surgery. even the professional journals (which I read for years while I was in the medical field) admit/publish that at least 9 out of 10 surgeries are unnecessary. in the meantime, get to know workers at a health food store in your area. the nutritional knowledge that used to be common can and will save you a lot of money and from a lot of wrong medical procedures today.

what is "your Liability" mean on health insurance?

I got an exlanation of benifits in the mail and it says its not a bill, so in the list of charges at the bottom it says YOUR LIABILITY 954.39 So if this is what I owe, then why is it not a bill? will I be getting a bill for this later? Not sure what this is, I hate insurance letters they are so confusing!!! Please help if you know what i am talking about.
--------------------
The insurance company is showing you what your responsibility is on your EOB (explanation of benefits). SO, if you get a bill from the provider that's any different than $954.39 then something isn't correct. You ALWAYS want to match that statement with your bill. Your liability is what the bill from the doctor should be.

I am a soon to be mom without health insurance.?

I have not had health insurance for 3 yrs now. Till now it's not really been that big of a deal because I'm a very healthy person and was able to pay for all of ck ups @ the doc. but now I'm expecting & I'm not going to be able to pay in full for prental care,& birth delivery of a baby. I have not gone to the doc because I would like to get on health insurance first & I'm scared if I go to the doc first insurance will say it was a preexisting condidtion & not insure me. The baby's father says I should get on Medicaid but he makes $6000 a month, & we live together, so I'm scared that he makes too much money for me to get on Meicaid & we can't afford for me to have any kind of insurance that is expensive. What is the best thing for me to do?
--------------------
individual companies will not accept you. the drs office will work out a payment plan (if not, try other dr) & each month you'll pay certain amt ($200-300) the amount is based on your areas average cost for normal delivery- you'll need to work out plan w/hospital too. don't put off your care- it's not that uncommon to be w/out insurance

Why do we pay for others health insurance when we barely get by??!!?

I work 2 jobs, only have 3 days off a month, pay like heck for health ins. Why are people with no jobs have better health ins than I ? How can they stand back and let us hard workers pay for them ? it sucks. I watch ladies with 3 kids no job go to the doctor or hospital when they barely have a cough yet it cost me $200 to go. I see the food stamp card buying pizza, cereal, pop tarts, junk food..... they sell the card to a drug dealer for half its price so they can buy their crack or whatever. Wheres the justice??
--------------------
i understand what your'e saying, i got health insurance, yet i still can't afford to go to doctor. we got major problems in this country as far as health insurance goes, but HILLARY CLINTON'S answer is NOT the way to fix it. its really gonna be a mess if she gets her way.

Is Blue Cross Blue Shield of N.C. health insurance still valid if the policy holder moves out of state?

I know a self-employed person who is insured by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, but who left N.C. a year ago to work somewhere else temporarily. He hasn't had to file a claim so far but I'm wondering if his insurance coverage is still valid even though he's paying the premium every month. He has not given them a change of address notification.
--------------------
Jim, Health insurance can be very tricky. Since I'm from Indiana I'm not familiar with the North Carolina laws and regulations, so I suggest you call a local insurance agent. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Healt… They should be able to help you.

COBRA only covers what your insurance covered prior to your qualifying event. For Medicaid, it depends on your state as Medicaid programs are funded and have coverage on a state-by-state basis.

Where can a woman go for free health care. I am poor, although I work. No health insurance.?

42 yr old woman who constantly has her period and feels tired all the time. I want to go to a Doctor, but I have no health insurance. I work, but after bills have very little money left over. I'm afraid there is something seriously wrong with me and I don't want to die, but on the other hand I am worried about where to go? where do I turn to? I pay taxes like every one else and do not qualify for medicare. Any suggestions?
--------------------
Call your local health department and ask them about low income/free clinics to provide you with health care. You probably need some iron from losing alot of blood but you definitely need a doctor. If they don't provide you with any help call a local hospital and ask for their social services department and talk to them about free/low income clinics/doctors. Good luck.

part-time permanent employee at mervyns was wondering if they offer health insurance?

I am afraid to ask since i work part time the manager is always different and when im there get the uptight manager thank you for your answers
--------------------
You should have been given this info when you were hired. Call the corporate office if you feel uncomfortable asking a manager. But usually, part-time help is not offered health insurance. (especially in retail) You would usually have to work at least 35 hours a week for benefits.
