Why are republicans afraid of everyone having health insurance?

I see too many arguments that state that not everyone is good enough to have health insurance. All of those arguments are made by republicans. So why?
--------------------
I do not know about Republicans, but conservatives think that everyone is entitled to what ever they work for, and that it belongs to them if gotten by legal means. What they are afraid of is having to pay even more for everyone else's health care than they do already. No Conservative wants you to die because you are "inferior". They just want you to make providing for yourself and your family the #1 priority like it is for them. Conservatives have plenty of time, money and compassion for those who despite their BEST efforts, cannot provide for themselves. They are just plain worn out from being forced to provide for those who continue to make poor and selfish life choices and demand that others pick up the tab.

How many hours do you have to work in California to be eligible for health insurance?

I work 35 hours a week, and have no health insurance. Am I eligible? Should I question this?

Does court ordered health insurance include vision in a child support case?

I am court ordered to pay child support and provide health insurance. It states I am responsible for one half of uncovered medical expenses. I have vision coverage but my ex took my daughter to get contacts and the provider was not covered under the insurance. Now she wants me to pay the bill for her contacts event though they would have been covered if she would have used and in-network provider. I have the insurance but she won't use it properlyAm I responsible for these bills? Am I required to pay for vision expenses if my court order does not specifically list vision and dental?
--------------------
The bigger question would be if you feel you are responsible for your child having these corrective lens. Not everything is about a court order....

what is a really good health insurance and dental insurance?

I have been shopping for insurance for a few weeks now and would like some second opinions. What health and dental insuranc edo you have and do you like it?
--------------------
It all depends on your age and if a portion of your premium is being covered by your employer. If you have to pay it all, then Kaiser is the cheapest, but is only available in some states. Then the rest are pretty much the same, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Western Health, Pacific Care, etc... The other difference is if you want a PPO or an HMO. A PPO tends to be more expensive and you would pay a percentage of each visit this is called co-insurance (usually 20%) along with an annual deductible. However, with the PPO you don't have to go to your "home" doctor to get a referral for a specialist like on OBGYN. The HMO is generally cheaper, no deductible and you make co-payments, not co-insurance. I have and EPO through Aetna witch is an HMO and I like it alot. Hope this helps!

What do you recommend for a family of 4 who is looking for reasonable health insurance?

Reasonable pricing, but still a plan that will meet our needs. No pre-existing conditions here, no smokers, we don't drink alcohol and we are all in over all good health. What insurance company/plan do you recommend?
--------------------
Hmos are cheaper than ppos, higher co pays and deductibles will also make the monthly bills cheaper. Be wary of low premiums and high copays, you might be able to get somethin better or the same cost

How exactly does mandating every American or person living in America have Health Insurance "reform" it?

Part 2: How does cutting Medicare improve health care for the elderly the very people the Dems claim will not be put out of the misery and counseled at the end of their lives? Will Illegals be forced to buy health insurance or face deportation?
--------------------
It doesn't reform it, that's the problem. It just penalizes the same people who didn't have health insurance before by either forcing them to buy it, or fining and incarcerating them. Cutting Medicare won't improve the health care for the elderly. Illegals should be deported anyway.

Health insurance for visitors coming in from a country that is not their home country?

How do you purchase health insurance for visitors who are flying in to the US from a country that is not their home country? - The home country will not sell insurance because the person has already left the country - The current country of residence will not sell insurance because the person has joined a job recently there, and has been present for less than 6 months - The insurance companies in the US also request on their forms the dates of travel to-and-fro from the home country, and do not have the option of flying in from a different nation.
--------------------
There is a plan that has no time limit for establishing residency. With this plan, the home country is defined as wherever a person is living at the time. So for example, a Brazillian is living in Germany and wants to go the USA, this plan would be able to accomodate them anyplace they were to travel besides Germany. Check out www.WorldWideMedical.com and look at the Liaison plan. It is guranteed issue, and you can apply online and print out your id cards instantly. Or call 800.647.4589 and an agent will be able to explain this much better than I am sure I can!

Can I switch to my wifes Health Insurance if my company changes plans?

My company is switiching our health insurance to Aetna and raising are rates. Can my wife and I switch on to her companies plan? Is my company switiching health insurance considered a qualifying event?
--------------------
You can be added to her insurance plan, during her company's open enrollment - and you can cancel your coverage during YOUR company's open enrollment. Your employer changing plans is NOT a qualifying event.

How do I qualify for goverment health insurance if I am 24yrs full time student and worker?

I need health insurance but i can't afford it, does anybody know if I qualify ? or where I could find information for goverment health insurance or something that is low of cost???
--------------------
Unless you are disabled the only government health insurance you might qualify for would be Medicaid. Qualification is based on income and, in some states, medical needs. Google "Medicaid your state" to find the website. Most states have qualification information on their website and some will even allow you to apply on-line. Other than that since you are a student many colleges and universities have a health plan. You could also contact a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area to see what is available. There is no extra charge using an agent.

Government penalties for being unable to afford health insurance?

I will be married in a courthouse on October 10th because we've been trying for two years to get married and simply cannot afford a wedding. Now I hear that this Health Insurance plan requires us to buy insurance we cannot afford or be penalized by the government. How do they keep track? How do they know if we have insurance or not? How much is the fine for a married couple who does not have insurance? I qualify for Medicaid, because I am disabled. My fiance does not, unless they are loosening up the requirements for working adults.
--------------------
You ahve to get all the facts and you cant do that from hearsay. You must check out the summaries of the health care bill and those provisions that pertain to you. In 2014 there will be an insurance exchange which will offer from basic to elaborate policies. There will be a subsidy for these policies, the amount depending on your income. There is a hardship exemption from buying insurance which you would have since you have Medicaid, so none of this applies to you anyway. Your fiance would buy insurance unless his job offers health benefits. If one is required to buy insurance and did not, instead of a tax credit when you file your return, there would be a tax liability or a penalty. The tax credit is an inducement to buy health insurance instead of wasting money on the fine, I think. But you have Medicaid so you dont have to worry about it.

How much does a government employee typically pay for family health insurance?

I recently accepted a job for the federal government. I know that family health insurance will vary from state to state, but does anyone know the cost for a federal employee in Tennessee?

If you will go to www.geha.com it will lead you through a bunch of steps to get to the 2010 rates. Look for the purple line "GEHA's 2010 rates and benefits" on that first page. My mom had GEHA and it was very good. Excellent service.

We need family health insurance but we have a very tight budget?

I need to be able to satisfy my tax obligations and sign up for family health insurance. Which is the cheapest option? I have a wife and two kids.
--------------------
You should visit a local agent that works with all the major health insurance companies in your area. The agent can find the best plan for your situation and budget. There is no extra charge using an agent. Of course, just like buying a new car the cheapest won't be the best. Be very wary of medical discount cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of "save up to 80%" be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn't find any doctors in the whole state that actually took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well. Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won't give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they're still taking the card (many don't even know that they're listed as a provider) and that they're accepting new patients.

Can you put health insurance costs on a profit and loss?

I am working on a profit and loss for my real estate business and I was wondering if I can include health insurance premiums?
--------------------
If you have net income from Self-Employment, then you can deduct the health insurance costs for yourself, your spouse, and your dependents, if you paid for the insurance premiums. The deduction is above-the-line deduction. You have to deduct 50% of your SE tax and contributions to retirement accounts before you deduct the insurance costs. But if you're eligible to join your spouse company's family health insurance plan but you chose not to, then you cannot deduct your insurance costs for your sole prop business. The deduction is put directly on your 1040.

Has the laws changed on how long you can cover your children on your health insurance?

I've been told you can now keep your kids on your health insurance until they turn 22 even if they are not in school, unless they have a full time job and their own insurance. I'm not sure if this is only for certain insurance companies or if it is across the board. I'm going to contact my husband's insurance but before I do I was wondering if anyone here knew the answer... Thanks!

Laws vary by state, however most that allow young adults to be added to their parents policy are for un-married dependent children,

What to do when you don't have a health insurance and need to see a gynecologist?

How can universities LEGALLY require you to have health insurance?

I received a health insurance card in the mail with the group name of my university. I've read why they are making students have insurance (the reasoning of which is completely asinine) but I don't understand how they can enroll you in a plan without your knowledge, let alone permission. Doesn't that break some kind of HIPAA rules?!
--------------------
Read the fine print: Nothing is free. Obtain a breakdown of your fees and likely you will find that you paid for this. Most schools have opt-out plans where they will refund that money if you can prove you have comparable coverage. However, there are deadlines to meet. Remember that, to a certain extent, the university is responsible for you. This may be part of their liability coverage. Of course, this is the natural order for most schools. You may wish to talk to your student union. In most cases, the student union are the ones responsible for interactions with group plans and pick the company and/or coverage that is purchased for all students. Lastly, students are notorious for not reading all of the information that they are expected to know. When was the last time you read every policy or every page of your academic calendar? It's a lot of information but it is available to you. Like the law, the school will not usually accept ignorance as an excuse.

Does using parents health insurance make me dependent?

I am 23, and using my moms health insurance for school. I have paid all of my own taxes federal and state, but I am not getting an economic stimulus check because I am considered dependent. I am also over 19 so my parents didnt receive the money either. Why doesnt myself or my parents get my money, and why did i have to file taxes on my own if i am still dependent. I am sorry if this is simple, but I am confused and broke, trying to pay for school...
--------------------
Being a dependent on your parent's health insurance plan is only allowed because you are a dependent of your parent's according to their tax return (not the other way around). Of course some insurance companies make exceptions and there are small differences from company to company but generally speaking this is the case. Most plans will force you to purchase your own health insurance plan at age 24 or 25 even if you are a full time student so you should make sure that you keep your health insurance coverage up to date. Here is some more information on finding a student health insurance plan:

Is it wise to have a Hospital accident Insurance Plan if I don't have a regular health insurance plan?

I can afford health insurance for my family. Everyone in my family is very active in hiking and other low risk activities. Should we still have an accident plan to cover accidents. For $30 a day, I can get up to $800 a day in hospital benefits. Is this a good thing or a scam?
--------------------
This does not sound like a good deal. $30 per day is $915 per month, on average. If you can afford that for something that just covers accidents, you can afford real health insurance, which is not much more and also covers illness.
