U.S resident living in Canada.. what do I do if I want to have a baby here but no health insurance?

I'm living abroad in Canada. Not yet a permanent resident, so I don't have a social security number here, nor do I have any health insurance. What kind of prenatal care can I get in canada if I'm uninsured? Any advice?

go to the us embassy there and talk to someone about it. If you don't want to do that, go to a local hospital and ask the financial department what they recommend.

Under Obamacare, is it true that the poor get free health insurance?

Do the people who little to no income get 100% of their health care covered by government subsidies?
--------------------
Most of them already do. So you should be able to say yes in most states. Obamacare doesn't cover everyone, just almost everyone.

Can a health insurance company make a reimbursement check out to your under age child?

Aetna sent me a reimbursement check made out in the name of my six-year-old child. Is that a Federal law? How can they make a check out to an under aged child that is on my policy?
--------------------
doesnt matter, they are your minor child, you can sign their name and deposit it.

What can I do to get a PCP w/o having health insurance?

I am experiencing some terrible depression and would like to see a dr. but I have no insurance, and can't afford to pay so much money. Can any1 help me w/ this? Thanks in advance for ur help!
--------------------
You might want to see if there are any research clinics there that might be doing a investigational research on depression. If there is, they typically pay for the doctor, medications, etc. That is what I did when I was suffering from depression and had no insurance. You get counseling, medications, and more. Worth a shot.

When will I be forced to get health insurance if Obama and friends ram through the unread bill?

When would it take effect? How do they plan to execute this fraud? Do you know the dates and details?
--------------------
There is no firm program nor date when any health insurance reforms may be passed. That being said, it is time that you get on board with healthcare reform. Apparently you do not now carry health insurance. Your type is the first to scream bloody murder whan an unexpected and catastrophic illness strikes. Of course, your bills are not paid, and the REST of us have to swallow the costs.

In a business to supply employees with health insurance must you pay a monthly fee?

I wanted to know because I was planning on starting a business and wanted to know if doing that for an employee requires that type of payment.
--------------------
Not necessarily - but the employer has to subtract the cost of the health insurance from the paychecks, and forward it to the insurance company. Most employers contribute HALF the cost of the insurance, for the employee. That's how you actually convince employees to sign up for the insurance.

Should people with unhealthy life choices pay more in health insurance?

Things like Obesity, smoking, drinking - Should having that kind of life style require you to pay higher health insurance rates?
--------------------
I think there should be a date say 5 years in the future that if everyone who smokes, drinks heavily, or is obese you have to pay an increased insurance rate. That's far enough in advance for everyone to get "clean". I say this even though I'm about 40 pounds overweight....but fair is fair.

Ugh! Why do people always put car insurance and health insurance together?

This health care bill is forcing FEDERALLY mandated health insurance. CAR INSURANCED goes STATE by STATE. Why do people compare the two? A STATE is going to know what is going to be more financially benefically to them than the federal government is. So why do liberal always use car insurance as an excuse to make the mandatory FEDERAL health insuranced acceptable?
--------------------
I don;'t know, but i do know that you do not have to buy car insurnace if you don't drive a car, you have to buy health insurnace just for taking a breath. that sounds unconstitutional to me.

Uninsuranced, looking for maternity health insurance where I can plan when to start a family?

I live in IN, and looking for a maternity heatlh insurance that will let me start a family ASAP or whenever I want without waiting. Anything that we can look into...or are we what seems to be hopeless!?!?
--------------------
Most private individual health plans have a window where they won't fully cover your pregnancy. If you become part of a group health plan – like through you or your husband's work – pregnancy cannot be considered a pre-existing condition. It's different with individual plans, though. It varies, so the best way to find out is to talk with a local health insurance agent or the insurance company itself. The first thing I'd do is write down a list of everything you want your health insurance to cover. Do some research online and talk with your doctor about the list to make sure you have everything listed. If you don't have a doctor, try calling your local county health department. Ask for a family planning appointment when you call. Here are some things to look for in a health plan for pregnancy and maternity: ·Does it cover prenatal care? ·What prenatal tests are covered? ·What kind of delivery do you want to have and which types are covered? ·Is anesthesia covered? ·Does it cover nursery costs? ·Are sick and well-baby visits covered? ·How much are co-payments, if there are any? ·How much is the deductible? ·Ask to determine how much your bill would be if you used the insurance. If you still have questions, try MostChoice.com. You can look at plans online and get in touch with locally licensed agents. There's no cost or obligation to buy insurance. Just fill out a short form and wait for agents to call you. Tell them what you want, what your budget is, and let them do the legwork for you. Chances are, they've helped people in your situation before. One idea is find out which doctors and hospitals have the best track records with delivery and baby care and then find out what kind of insurance they take. Tell the agents and let them figure out the least expensive way to get the most coverage you can get. How can I get health insurance?

I'm a student in college and I need cheap but thorough dental insurance. Any suggestions?
--------------------
I've never seen private dental insurance that pays out more than it costs - it's set up that way, because lots of people think, oh, I'll buy it for a couple months, get thousands of dollars of work done, then drop it. And dental and health are two seperate coverages. Two policies. So . . .you're on your own for that dental work!

Why should employers be forced to give health insurance to their workers?

I hire people to do a specific thing for me and in return pay them the agreed upon amount. Why is healthcare being thrown into the mix?
--------------------
Because we are not the same freedom loving people our grandfathers were and have lost our libertarian spirit that once fueled free enterprize they now force their will on many in an air of silliness and stupidity

If the health insurance business won't be able to deny insurance because of pre-existing condtions?

Shouldn't the car insurance industry be made to offer car insurance for drivers that have had accidents at the same price as those without accidents. Hmmm if they did that I wonder what would happen to everyones car insurance. Wouldn't it go up?

At a very minimum, my health insurance payments will triple.

Why would a company make health insurance mandatory?

I am one of the rare people. I am young, healthy, and pay for my own Dr. visits. I am pissed off by the line "You must select one coverage plan or show proof of other insurance." Why must I show proof of another plan? I am a responsible person. Yes, I know emergencies do occur, but this question is not about that. I feel that I am paying other's people's bills by even contributing to such a plan. I clearly don't use my share.
--------------------
You are, in fact, helping to offset the unhealthy, older employees costs by getting on the group. If they let you get your own policy, that is probably a less expensive option. A high deductible plan would save you money over a "bells-and-whistles" PPO or HMO and still let you mitigate those larger risks.

Good luck. There is no help in American with Republicans in control. As for me I'm disabled and pre diabetic. If I get it bad I will refuse insulin. I'd rather go to sleep, life has been hard for me.

Why is it so hard for Democrats to understand that we Republicans love our health insurance companies dearly?

I find it insulting that Democrats are so against the insurance companies that keep us healthy and safe. I speak for all Republicans when I say, Democrats leave or insurance companies alone. They are good people and they deserve respect, fact.
--------------------
No one's doing anything to the insurance companies. However, too many people pay too much for health insurance, and only get partial coverage.

Health insurance for poor people in the USA?

Is there any health insurance available for people who cannot afford to spend at least $300/month?
--------------------
Yes, there is, but it depends upon your age, height & weight, your current health, if you smoke, what type of plan and deductible you have, and many other factors. If you visit a local independent agent you'll be able to compare many different plans in one place. The agent can find the best plan for your situation and budget. Do not try to do this over the internet. It'll take you several days to intelligently compare all the plans available. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy or cause you to be declined or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process. You may get answers here concerning medical discount cards. Be very wary of these cards. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of "save up to 80%" be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn't find any doctors in the whole state that actually took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well. Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won't give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they're still taking the card (many don't even know that they're listed as a provider) and that they're accepting new patients.

Are there any groups I can join to get group health insurance?

I'm in GA and am not offered group insurance coverage, so am looking for a group that can be joined for the benefit of obtaining group insurance coverage. Anything out there for the masses?
--------------------
Some companies have special association plans. Check with the Chamber of Commerce, and any trade associations you can. Also, since Blue Cross is not an insurance company (they are a non-profit organization - most people do not know this) they can do things other companies cannot do because of insurance regulations. Check with them.

Health Insurance? I am on Medicaid and I will be up tell i'm 21 but when once i turn 21 what will happen?

I live in Iowa....I have some health problems and once I turn 21 my Insurance wont cover me anymore...What would be my options. To where i would be covered and still beable to see my doctors. I still live at home with my mother. What are my options?
--------------------
At the moment....your options are getting full time job that provides health benefits. Hopefully the health care legislation being debated in congress will provide answers for the future. But as it is.....working and getting health insurance through your employer is pretty much it. With health problems, you'll have a hard time finding a private insurer willing to cover you....and if you do...you won't be able to afford it.

If I work for a company in Massachusetts and I live in Oregon, can they provide health insurance?

I may be taking a work from home job from a company in Massachusetts. Unfortunately they say they are unable to provide health benefits to an employee that lives in Oregon. Is this true?
--------------------
That sounds really strange. You should be able to use their insurance even if you are stuck using out of network providers in Oregon. It's even stranger as Mass has a state law requiring everyone to have medical insurance. Ask them for a pay increase to help off set you buying your own insurance. In any case the saving you have by living in Oregon vs Mass should cover your insurance any way if all else fails. Plus you get to stay in Oregon, Ma kind of sucks. I'm in Bend, Or. my self

Wouldn't it be great of health insurance companies paid republicans to protest?

Then we could all have jobs everyday and get meals at home. Lol, the idea that American citizens are being paid by insurance companies is a ridiculous claim from any other American. Don't you think? Especially when people are loosing jobs.. I wouldn't surprised to see democrats take up this offer so they can feed their family as well.

Most Republicans have some sort of work and will work, which is more then I can say for 95% of the people who voted for the African!

Will health insurance cover a serious pre-existing condition?

I believe I may have a serious medical condition. I know I should go to the doctor ASAP but I have a concern about my health insurance. My coverage is ok but not the greatest. I may or may not be changing jobs and the new job has much better insurance. Also, I am currently on my wife's health insurance policy and she may be changing jobs in March. How do I know if my possible medical condition would be covered by any new insurance policy? If it turns out to be serious, I may not be able to afford to pay my medical bills if my new insurance carrier chooses not to cover it. What are my options?
--------------------
(This answer assumes you are a U.S. resident.) There is good news for you: the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) will provide you with protection in this situation. There is not enough information to conclusively tell you whether the plan through your or your wife's new insurer will completely extinguish your pre-existing condition exclusionary period, but if you've been covered at least 18 months under a group plan, it definately will. Go here to read more: http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/faqs/faq_consume… If your or your wife's new plan has a "waiting period," all you have to do is elect COBRA during that period of time. Even if you choose not to elect COBRA, the waiting period cannot be counted as a period of lapse; therefore, it isn't counted against the 63-day period you'll read about in the link above. p.s. -- I have expert knowledge regarding HIPAA provisions and there's alot of misinformation here about this issue. If you have any questions, please send me a message through Yahoo Answers.
