I lost my health insurance and am almost out of my Paxil. What is the best way to get a refill?

I graduated college a few months ago and my health insurance just ended. I won't have it again until I find a job which offers it or Obama gives it to me LOL. Where can I go for cheap and get a prescription for a refill? Are there public clinics for this kind of thing? Thanks!

I have one RX that isn't covered on my insurance and I was able to purchase it from a pharmacy in Canada for about 2/3 the cost. I would suggest that you do a search for Canadian pharmacies and then spend a little time reading about each of them to make sure that it's a reputable pharmacy. I have been getting this RX filled at the same pharmacy for almost a year now and haven't had any problems.

Where can I find recommendations for medical providers in my health insurance network?

I recently changed jobs, and moved to a new city. With new health insurance, and so many in-network providers, I'd like to know if there's a website or something where I can see personal reviews on doctors?

You can get free reports on doctors here. http://www.ucomparehealthcare.com/physic…

Expatriates - What Kind of International Health Insurance do You Have?

I've been living abroad for 20 years now, and have depended on local national insurance. But now I'm looking for more comprehensive health and life insurance (got married, finally, a couple of years ago). I do a lot of travelling, and I soon I will relocate to another country. One medical Insurance plan I'm considering is called "International Health Insurance danmark" (IHI), part of an organization called "British United Provident Association" (BUPA). Has anyone heard of this? Or can you recommend any other companies? Thanks a million!

Why does Obama only want to talk about health insurance instead of talking about the prices providers charge?

The prices health care providers charge are ridiculously high. Why isn't that a major topic? Obama stokes up all of this hatred towards the insurance companies when the fact is they are helping to keep prices down by demanding & getting discounts from the providers. Why doesn't Obama want to reform the whole health care industry instead of just picking on one facet of it?

What is the logical reasoning behind employers providing health insurance instead of the free market?

Why can't I just go online and quote the lowest health care insurance like I do auto insurance
--------------------
Because the (un)insurance companies are less likely to reject claims made by an employment covered scheme than a private one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOT3XDLKX… And it ensures that the worker is covered, which means they get back to work sooner. I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts? FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3]. Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4] Maybe that is because in the USA, insurance companies push up costs, buy politicians and refuse to pay claims that people pay for [5]. (Look up Wendell Potter on YouTube to hear more if the link below is too long.) Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8]. Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare? If you think my arguments are wrong, e-mail me with proof. But if you can not, let Obama try to help America. If he fails, vote him out in 2012.

If I change health insurance from my work's group plan, how does that affect my before-tax premium payments?

Also, is it typical to have to wait for Open Enrollment to DROP health insurance coverage?
--------------------
If you drop your company's health plan, you won't be able to pay your health insurance premium with pre-tax dollars. You can drop coverage at any time, it's getting it back that has to wait for OE.

Is it possible to get individual health insurance in Arkansas if you have sleep apnea?

I have sleep apnea which is well controlled through the use of a CPAP machine, but I was turned down for health insurance by Blue Cross Blue Shield because of it. I recently left a job through which I had health insurance and am now self employed and need to find an individual policy for myself.
--------------------
Talk to a local, independent agent about finding coverage that excludes the whole apnea situation.

Why is it that all republican plans for health care reform prevent sick people from getting health insurance?

I've read all of their plans. They would create competition, but also destroy all safe havens in health insurance for people with pre-existing conditions as well as remove state laws that protect the consumer from misleading practices.
--------------------
That's absurd. Do you realize that only 11% of Americans lack any form of health care? (Check the census bureau website.) Most of those are 18-34. Why institute a sweeping comprehensive government-mismanaged system to cover 11% of the population?

How can a person not in college get health insurance?

I am not going to be in college anytime soon but I'm not going to have any insurance for my health at all. That means I'll have to pay a lot of money for my pills, psychiatrist and psychologist. How can I get insurance if I'm not going to be a student?
--------------------
Get a job and you wont need a shrink. If you have any parents under the new law you can be included on their policy and you don't have to be a student after September this year, or when your insurance company plans to do it. Otherwise, you can buy your own insurance policy if you have no parents. If you are under 21 and low income you can apply for Medicaid at your county office. Other than that, when you need a prescription or get sick, you go to a local community clinic in your town. Look in the phone book or call hospitals and ask if they have a low income clinic. This has nothing to do with being a student or not.

how much does health insurance cost to a small buisness owner with only 2 employees?

a friend owns a business and has asked me to join her operation. she doesn't currently have health insurance or offer it either. i want to propose it as terms of my employment, but would like to have information as to costs she will bear in relation to my salary. any suggestions would be helpful. thanks!
--------------------
It can vary quite a bit depending on the collective helath history of the group. It might be good to start by going to http://www.myinsurancequotes.net and filling out the quote form there. A local agent will contact you and discuss both of your medical histories and help give you different options. They should be able to give you a price range of where the final prices will fall (the group has to be medically underwritten most likely). I hope that helps. Jared Balis http://www.utahinsurance.org

Can someone please help me understand coinsurance on health insurance plans?

I am trying to get a better deal on health care insurance but don't understand the point of 80% coinsurance. If it is only a few bucks higher with the same deductible, isn't it better to go for the 100% coverage? Does it mean that the insurance co will pay only 80% of the bill once the deductible is met? I don't understand. Please help!
--------------------
Someone's offering you a plan with 100% coverage, for hospitalizations, for only a couple bucks more? Sure, it makes more sence to pay a couple bucks. Yes, that deductible means, they pay NOTHING until after you've paid the full deductible amount, in medical claims. AFTER the deductible, then you STILL pay 20%, if you've got an 80/20 plan.

Could I get health insurance even if i was diagnosed with hepatitis B?

I was recently tested positive for Hepatitis B and I wanna know if I could still purchase a health insurance?
--------------------
Yes. In California, once you apply for any health insurance policy and are denied because of a preexisting condition (including hepatitis), you can then purchase health insurance from the California managed risk medical insurance board. You meet most of the requirements, such as living in California and not being able to get insurance at work, so applying for (and being denied) insurance is the last step before you qualify.

What is the best way to keep health insurance when changing jobs.?

I have been fighting cancer for 7 years now and i am also in the middle of changing jobs. My current employer has given me health insurance but when i change jobs the 60 day probation period will put a gap in my insurance coverage. Since i have pre-existing condition for the new employer's insurance a gap of coverage means they can deny me or charge me a lot of money for coverage and not to mention the treatment will not be able to continue without insurance. What are my options about this problem, I live in louisiana. Thanks
--------------------
You can either COBRA your insurance from your previous employer(a very expensive proposition. They can charge up to 125% of cost) or check with insurance companies, such as State Farm, etc..

Why is it an employers responsibility to provide health insurance to workers according to Obama?

Why shouldn't ones health care be an individuals responsibility instead of forcing someone else to shoulder that burden by law? Are employers going to be forced by law to also buy health insurance for workers families?
--------------------
Any expense a business incurs is simply passed onto the consumer so in the end it is all of you that pay for health care anyway.

I need help in choosing a health insurance provider. Can someone help me sift through all the possible privat?

I need to purchase health insurance on my own. How do I choose? What (besides prices) do I look for? Can anyone make any recommendations for health insurance companies....and tell me why they feel that company is a good one?
--------------------
You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is much more to health insurance than price. Some might even suggest a discount plan which is not insurance at all. Ultimately, you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care with your insurance company. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles and low copays your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand if you are young, healthy and use the health care system rarely you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe which will result in a relatively low monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit and still come out ahead. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation. They can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and copays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

Will businesses have to provide health insurance for their worker?

I know that a lot of employers, with more than 50 employees avoid paying into health insurance for their workers by deliberately having their worker work part time. One such example is Walmart. Many Walmart workers get no helath insurance, and a paltry pay on top of that. Will the new health care bill force these large companies to provide or pay into employee health insurance?
--------------------
Depends how much is cut in the senate, as of now though yes, or they pay a fine and the government decides what treatment you get.

Can a car insurance company ask you if you have health insurance when you make a claim?

I was in an accident recently and the other insurance company asked me if I had health insurance. I was not at fault. Can they do that?
--------------------
They're probably just curious if your health insurance company may or may not come back to subrogate on the claim. If you get in an accident, get hurt, go to the doc, your health insurance picks up some of the cost, the car insurance pays for the balance right? Well in subrogation the health insurance may have the right to go back to the car insurer and get back what they paid out on the doctor visits caused by the accident. But it's between the insurance companies, not you. You shouldn't be affected by it in anyway. And usually the car insurer will only subrogate if it's a large enough claim which in most cases, it's not.

I have great health insurance (80% coverage) can I buy another policy on my own to cover the rest of the costs?

In other words will having 2 health insurance policies defray out of pocket costs?
--------------------
Yes you can. However, you need to be aware of how they will work together. Each insurer needs to know that you have the other insurance. In addition, you need to know if the second policy will actually pick up the other expenses or not! It depends upon what type of coverage each is. Personal experience: When he first started at his current job, my husband's employer paid 100% of the cost of health insurance for our entire family. (That was one of the "perks" of being "senior staff" at that company.) I got my own plan through my employer so that if something happened to him, I would already have my own coverage through my employer and could add the kids and not have to wait for the next open enrollment period at work. As it worked, the way his plan was written, they would not pick up any of the costs left over after my insurer paid. Then my hubby's employer went to another insurer for health coverage. That plan picked up some of the costs left after my plan paid, but not all. In the meantime, my hubby's employer could no longer afford to pay all of the cost of health insurance for "senior staff," so he had to start paying some his portion of the premium for his plan. Now, his employer is using the same insurer as mine. If I use my plan as primary coverage and his as secondary, then his plan will pick up my left over what is left over (after annual out-of-pocket expenses have been met.) However, if I used his plan as primary and mine as secondary, then my plan would pay nothing since it is a different plan that has different guidelines. (We still keep both plans on me since we save more each year by having two plans and having the second plan pick up the left over expenses. My husband only has one plan since he doesn't get sick very often and never has to have surgery.) Yes, it can work. Be careful when picking your plans because they may not work together. And consider if you are actually saving money by having the second plan as opposed to having just one plan.

I currently have Kaiser, but am offered a health insurance through United Health PPO. What would you pick?

I currently have Kaiser Personal advantage and can get United Health Care PPO through my company. I don't know whether I should stop my Kaiser insurance and sign up for the United Health Care PPO, or just stay with Kaiser and not sign up for the company's health insurance. I don't even know if it is good to have both, I'm not sure if this works or not. What do you think? Any advice is appreciated, thanks for your help.

How do you find out what your health insurance does and doesn't cover?

I want to go to a dermatologist but I don't know if it is covered by my health insurance and I don't know whether I should be asking the doctor or the health ins. company. Who would I ask (in any case, not just the dermatologist, for example if I wanted to go to a regular doctor)? Is having health insurance difficult to deal with? I've never used it before, always just paid cash. Thanks in advance!
