I dropped a class and only have 9 units now, will I still have health insurance?

I'm on my parents health insurance plan which is Anthem Blue Cross. I dropped the class September 16th thinking that I would be covered till 26 without being enrolled in full time units. But I read that the being covered till 26 just kicked in september 23rd. So will I still be covered by health insurance?
--------------------
Unless the insurance company finds out you dropped that class, you'll stay covered. You should have waited until Sept 24th to drop.

What do you know about Assurant health Insurance?

We are looking for family health insurance for two adults and two children. I was told about this company but I have not personally heard of it. I wondering what are the good and bad things about this company? I don't know how I feel about not having a copay at the doctor.
--------------------
I just started with them. I'm single. The cost of my medications are SO much higher with this co.--from less than $50 a mo. to over $200! That's all I've experienced so far. Sorry

Do I need health insurance for 3 days?

I am a recent college grad. My health insurance coverage under my parents plan will end on May 31st. I have a job (!!!!) with immediate health insurance coverage that will begin on June 4th. Should I get a one month short-term plan or are there provisions within the health insurance industry should something happen during this three day period? Or should I just lock myself in my apartment for the three days and take no risks?!!!
--------------------
Only if something happens during the 3 days. If it were me, I'd follow the "lock myself in the apartment" plan. Although that's not an official insurance answer, LOL.

when i get into life and health insurance can you switch other policies to you?

even your own policies you have with somebody else?
--------------------
Your question is not very clear. But this may help. If someone owns a life insurance policy on you (your dad for example) when you turn 18 he can switch ownership of the policy to you. Is that what you were looking for?

I have pink eye but no health insurance, what should i do?

I want to see a doctor but I don't have any disposable income. I barely get by as it is. My eye is pink and my vision is blurring off and on though. I don't know what I should do ? Should I be worried, will it heal itself or do I need antibiotics?
--------------------
Hard to say, I think it is possible that it could heal itself. I don't know about blurring vision either. Is the eye kind of sore? Does it drain a lot? Do you wake up with it stuck shut because of the dried drainage? I know it sounds gross but these are characteristics of pink eye. I have had a light case that went away by itself but I've had bad cases the did require antibiotic drops. I don't remember having blurred vision but with excess drainage I'm sure that could be likely. I don't think you'll go blind from it but I'm not a doctor either. I would say just watch it and if it seems to get worse and not better over the next day or two then you should go in. If you have a doctor that you've seen before they may be willing to call you in a prescription for some eye drops if you explain that you just can't make it in. Even without insurance I don't think the drops are too pricey; I'd say $20 or less.

How do you get covered for health insurance in italy?

I want to know, Im an american
--------------------
We don't have insurance in Italy. There is the Azienda Sanitaria Nazionale (ASN), which pays everthing for us. If you need urgent assistance, you go to "pronto soccorso" in hospital and they must cure you, without asking you nothing. For everything else, everybody has a "medico di base": he's a family doctor, which examine you when you need, for free. Doctors are then paied by ASN (and we pay it with general taxes). There's a private sector, too. But you don't need insurance: you go and pay directly.

Do Republicans ACTUALLY think that the health insurance industry doesn't need any reform?

And if you aren't under such a delusion what GOOD reason do you have to oppose reform ?
--------------------
Republicans have been proposing reforms to health insurance, Medicare and health care for years and the Democrats have blocked most of them. The Democrats were deathly afraid they might work and they couldn't have that because GOVERNMENT CONTROL of health care has been a Democrat dream for 70 years.

My employer rolledback the date when health insurance coverage ended?

I resigned from my job on January 4th. So that my employer did not have to pay the premium for January he claimed that I resigned on December 31st. This creates an inconsistancy in my medical continuation who can I report this to as I am no nonger a speaking terms with him. I think that this is fradulant

Do you have a pay stub showing you worked until jan. 4th? Show that to the Attorney General's office. Call the insurance office he does business with and send a copy of your pay stub

I've recently found myself without health insurance and I need to find a cheap way to continue my birth control routine. So I'm open to anything. Any ideas on the cheapest kinds, or the cheapest ways. I already go to Planned Parenthood, and I'm on the Patch, but they say that now I'm 18 I'll have to pay full price, and I can't afford it.

Anyone know of cheap health insurance for NYS?

I am looking for cheap health insurance for New York State into the 12953 area.
--------------------
New York doesn't let insurance companies charge lower rates to younger people and higher rates to older people. So if you're young, it's overpriced; if you're old, it's underpriced. Since younger people don't want to pay higher than they need, they often go without, which drives the cost up even further. Social policy at its finest. Fewer people insured and higher rates.

Non-dependants in college -can I still put them on my health insurance plan?

I have two daughters who file their own taxes, which means i do not claim them as dependents. One lives at home (age 18 full time college and part time work) and the other has been away in another state for two years (age 21full time college and full time work) My question is on the new insurance plan - it states "dependents up to age 25 covered" Is there an advantage to making them dependent? What would I need to do to get them insurance coverage?
--------------------
From Blue Cross Blue Shield: My child will be going to college. Can I keep his or her coverage active? Yes, provided your group health plan has our "family continuation" (FC) or "dependent continuation" (DC) rider. Be sure to check your benefit guide or ask at work to see if your group health plan includes one of these riders. If your organization offers one of the riders, you must apply for continuation coverage before December 31st of the year your dependent turns 19. Let us know your dependent is attending college, and we will send a letter annually to verify that his or her enrollment continues. Between the ages of 19 and 25, dependents can remain covered if they are: Unmarried Related to you by blood, marriage or legal adoption Full-time students for at least five months of the year or have a gross income of less than four times the personal exemption amounts as defined by the Internal Revenue Service's current code So it looks like your 18 year old can be covered but your 21 year old cannot. The family continuation rider is pretty common but you need to check with your own health insurance carrier to determine if their rules differ from those above.

I don't have health insurance but would like opinions on what helps Your Depression?

I have found increasing exercise & sometimes drinking Coke helps me but would like input from others.
--------------------
I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me. If you don't have insurance for the medications, do a Google search on "prescription assistance", there are a lot of programs out there that can help with the medications.

Why is car insurance mandatory but health insurance isn't & why does the gov think there's a prob w healthcare?

The gov already provides healthcare to those who can't afford it and those who can it only costs a few hundred/month which is less than a car payment which everyone has so what exactly is the problem with healthcare?
--------------------
Sixty percent of the bankruptcies in the US are due to medical expenses. Almost all of those are middle-class, educated, home owners, 75% of which HAD health insurance. And the bankruptcy filings have increased 50% in just the last seven years. (1) Seventy percent of people with no health insurance are employed full time, but health insurance premiums have increased at more than twice the rate of wages, and much more than over-all inflation. (2) The US government does not provide health care. It provides Medicaid to those over 65, but only the most completely destitute avoid paying the premiums, co-pays, and deductibles. Some states provide subsidized health insurance to low income families, but the same limitations apply. If you're under 65 and much above the poverty level, you're own your own. Most health insurance in the US is tied to employment. Since you're only entitled to twelve weeks of medical leave, if you have a major illness or accident, you will loose your job, and with it, your insurance. My employer offers health insurance. The current premium for an individual is nearly $50 more than my salary. The family premium is nearly twice what I'm paid. Yeah, pretty sure that's a problem ... ;)

Why do health insurance drop people?

My sister had health insurance for about a year and she went in about 7 months ago to have a colonosopy( they removed 2 small polyps) and she also took a medication for osteoporosis. A few weeks ago she got a letter from her insurnace company saying they were dropping her because of the polyps removal and of the medication used to prevent osteoporosis. Do insurance companies normally do this?
--------------------
It's illegal. Unless your sister lied in the application. But if not, the insurnace company cannot drop her. What company did she insure with?

My husband is switching careers...we need short term health insurance for the in between period?

We'd need it for 30 days and it needs to cover pre-existing conditions. Can anyone recommend which insurance provider to look into? Thanks for your help.
--------------------
Short term health policies do not cover any pre-existing conditions. COBRA will be available if your current plan has more than 20 employees. That will be your only option to keep the conditions covered.

Will the US proposed mandatory health insurance consider setting up a Conscientious Objector program?
