What do I need to look for when researching small business health insurance plans?

I am researching health insurance plans for my company of 4 employees. However, I am not too sure what to look for. How can I make sure that I get the most beneficial plan?
--------------------
You should request information from all the major health care providers in your area. Make sure you ask for price sheets that compare all of their plans. Once you have them you can compare all the companies. The best rate will probably be an HMO, but look into others as well. Also ask your employees what they want in health care coverage, or what plans they had with other employers.

What company/organization has the best most reasonable price on pet health insurance?

I have one dog with a preexisting heartworm condition and the other is healthy. Who offers a better deal? and has anyone gone through the ASPCA for pet health insurance?
--------------------
Keep in mind, with any insurance policy, on average, the insurance company has to win. In other words, they will take in more money than they ever pay out. If it were the other way around, they would go out of business. My feeling is, that one is better off (if one can be disciplined enough) to put the money that you would have spent on the insurance premiums, and put it in a seperate account, that you don't touch, except for vet bills. On average that way, you'll win. The only time this doesn't work, is if you have some large, unexpected bill show up that you can't absorb. In these cases, you can often secure some kind of loan or financing option to pay for the deficit.

Is health insurance for a dog really worth it?

We have a new puppy, an English mastiff female. While we aren't ever going to get acupuncture for the dog or anything outlandish, we certainly plan on taking good care of her and giving her reasonable vet care. We got a flier for animal health insurance from Iams. I know there are several plans out there, is there a comparison or review website for me to use for research?
--------------------
It is not true that once you claim something you can't claim it again. So long as the incident occurs after your pet is enrolled, it will always be covered. Check out petinsurancereview.com which is a great third party site with ratings and reviews from actual customers. Pet insurance is definitely worth the peace of mind if you can't afford big vet bills. I'd personally recommend to skip out on routine coverage no matter what company you pick. This is because you usually end up paying more through the middle-man than if you were to pay the vet directly for shots and checkups. I have my dog insured with Trupanion and I really like them. They pay 90% of the bill no matter how big, and they don't have claim limits. Definitely worth checking out! Also you can get hip dysplasia coverage if you enroll before your puppy turns 1. Good luck!

Of the 50 million Americans without health insurance, how many can really not afford it?

Don't some people choose not to have health insurance so that they can buy other things? How many Americans, after they pay rent and food necessities, can not afford any type of health insurance? I imagine it is a large number, but it is in no way 50 million people. I would bet there are plenty of people driving sweet cars that do not have health insurance.
--------------------
Of the supposed 46 million without healthcare: - 10 million are illegal immigrants who have no right to US health insurance. - 9 million have incomes over $75K a year and CHOOSE NOT TO have it or who don't have it for 6 months or less. -12 million are eligible for Medicaid and State Children's Health Insurance program but didn't sign up. So at least 31 million are uninsured in ways that require no fix from the federal government. So the government wants to screw it up for the 250 million who are happy with having the best care in the world the way it is now. But American's don't go down so easily into that socialist cesspool. Myself and other colleague physicians plan to just accept paying only customers under Obamacare. See how that "free" access works out for you slackers. We can offer better care at less cost to the patient, by cutting out the middle man...insurance companies and definitely the govt. Just let the free market work people. It always has, but socialism never has.

How long after an employee is hired should they start receiving health insurance?

I was recently hired at a company full time but they said I would have to wait 6 months before I would receive health insurance. Is this reasonable? Legal? I always thought it was 3 months.
--------------------
Of course it is LEGAL!!! LOL Having health insurance is NOT mandatory by law, that is called a benefit. You "always" thought wrong. My employer has it start on the 1st of the month after you are hired. My last employer was 90 days. There is no law that FORCES employers to offer health insurance AT ALL!!! If you don't like it, work somewhere else. Or you can try to be thankful that you have a job at all, and be happy that you get health insurance. Health insurance is NOT an entitlement.

What Health Insurance can a part time student get?

So my Aetna coverage will end next week on my 22nd birthday. Since I'm not a full time student (only part time) I won't be covered till I'm 23. I'm working part time and currently looking for a full time position. But till then do I have to live without health insurance, or do you have any advice which plan is most cost efficient and beneficial to someone right out of college?
--------------------
Most insurance companies have policies that can be effective as early as the day after you sign up and will last for up to 90 days. This is good to fill a gap if you are pretty certain you will find a group policy in the mean time. Otherwise, you can sign up for an individual policy if the employer you find doesn't offer benefits or your job search is taking longer than you anticipated. Go talk to an independent agent.

Will my health insurance company notify my parents that I dropped out of school?

I went to the doctors about one week ago. We got a bill from my insurance company that requested proof of my student status before they payed the bill. However, I dropped out over a year ago and my parents do not know. If I pay the bill myself, is there a chance that my health insurance company might still find out and then notify my parents about my student status?
--------------------
You'll be dropped from your parents' insurance company, if you don't provide student information by the deadline. Your parents will eventually find out that you aren't on their insurance plan any longer. By not telling your parents that you dropped out of school, you made them a part of insurance fraud. Technically, they could get in trouble with their employer for this.' (Why in the world did you go to the doctor and use your parents insurance, if you dropped out of school a year ago??)

Can anybody suggest an affordable health insurance company for a low income, young man?

I would really like to have the ability to go to the doctor when I need. But, I can't seem to see the necessity of having health insurance. Being it so expensive, and that I so rarely need to seek medical attention. On the other hand, the clinic in town will not schedule appointments for anyone without insurance. I would like to be more concious about my physiological self with the advice of a medical practitioner. But, not at the cost of hundreds of dollars a month, which I can't afford. Its just not in the cards. HELP!
--------------------
I recommend speaking with a health insurance broker. A broker works with several companies to find the best rates and coverage. To find one in your area, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and complete the online form. You will be called. There is no cost or obligation for the consultation. Good luck!

What private health insurance company is the best for the price?? And what is coinsurance??

I rencently got married and it is $300 a month to add a family plan to my husbands health insurance. We are looking for a cheaper way to insure me. We have found a few companies, but what does coinsurance mean? and who knows a reliable, reasonable insurance company??
--------------------
~~~Every insurance is different according to your state. Costco has insurance available in 5 states and it's is excellent insurance. If you aren't one of those states I would go through www.einsurance.com They can give you quotes and use reliable companies. Co-insurance is the part of the charge that the patient has to pay. My husband has a $40.00 copay for doctor's visits and also sometimes has to pay some towards his deductible. This would all be considered co-insurance as it comes out of the patients pocket.~~~
Does the new health insurance company cover my examinations?
I've already used up the twice-per-year examinations (insurance covers) according to my dental health plan. I'm wondering if I change my health insurance company now, will the new company cover the examinations? Or they will see that I've already got it done, and won't cover it?
What are the monthly premiums for a health insurance package in India?
I am interested in a high quality, expat oriented health insurance package that would provide full coverage at the best hospitals in Delhi.
--------------------
you're probably going to have to post to the india board for that. You've posted to the USA board, and no insurance companies in the USA will be selling a policy like that valid in Delhi.
How long should I give the insurance company to respond to my claim before following up? (Health Insurance)?
I filed a claim with my health insurance carrier (the provider is out of network and does not file for me). I sent the claim USPS Certified Mail, including all necessary claim forms and an explanation of the claim. How long should I give the insurance company to respond before following up? Is 15 business days enough, or should I give them more time?
--------------------
Legally, they have at least 30 days. (Some states allow 45.) But realistically, most insurers should at least have the claim entered into the system and pending within 2 weeks. P.S. I know you didn't ask about this, but just to save you another question later on...odds are you won't get the full amount you're expecting back. Your insurance company is going to process based on a UCR (Usual and Customary Rate), not the provider's actual billed charge. For example, if you're expecting 60% back, they are going to reimburse you 60% of the reasonable and customary rate for the service. Not 60% of the amount you actually paid.
What are my options for health insurance?
Hi, after my birthday (May 12th), I will be dropped from my parent's insurance policy because I am not a full-time student (one of my professor's dropped me for a terrible reason, not that it matters). I am unemployed, and broke. I have been trying to find a job since last June to no avail. What are my options, if any, for health insurance? Is there a low-cost / "free" plan that I can get aboard when I become a full-time student again in the summer or fall?
--------------------
Here are your options: 1. Continue on your parent's plan, through COBRA, for up to 18 months at your own cost. 2. Apply for welfare health insurance - Medicaid (you have to qualify) 3. Look a lot harder for a job - lower your standards, or make your own job. Lawn mowing season is almost here, as well as summer child care while school's out. Once you're full time again, you can likely be added back onto parent's policy.
What is the best company for Maternity Health insurance?
I'm not looking to go on medicaid, I don't want to use taxpayers money if I can afford a reasonable individual health insurance plan. I am very early on in pregnancy and would like to know if anyone knows of a good plan with reasonable rates. I would appreciate it if you had details (plan names). We can afford a deductible of around $4000 or less.
Does the health care bill require individuals to have insurance?
I read a news article that says, "The $1.3 trillion-dollar bill would require individuals to buy health insurance, and would also require medium and large businesses to provide it to their employees." I haven't been following this as closely as most other people. Does this mean that people will be forced to have insurance? And if so, how would the requirement be enforced?
--------------------
Yes we all need to read the bill when it is finalized in 2 WEEKS. But, yes, the latest version DOES state that you ARE required to have insurance. Either thru your job or thru the government. And, YES, the lastest in the bill DOES state that you WILL be fined if you do not have it. BUT, NO ONE knows the actual truths underlined until it is completed in approx 2 weeks.
Would it be better to buy health insurance before or after the new health care legislation passes?
I'm a healthy young person with no pressing need for any health care right now. I want to buy health insurance, but I don't know if I should wait until after the health care legislation passes. Will premiums likely be higher or lower afterwards? Will I be able to cross state lines to buy health insurance afterwards? These are just two examples, but I'm interested in ANY factors. Thanks!
--------------------
It doesn't matter, because the insurance companies have already started raising rates in anticipation. Our group insurance went up 23% this Jan. Does anyone really think costs went up 23%? No, they're preparing for when cost-cutting measures will be law and they can't raise costs 23% in a year with 0% inflation. The real question is what would you do if you were involved in a car crash now and didn't have any health insurance? People are injured and killed on the roads every day through no fault of their own (wrong-way driver killed 2 people yesterday in Atl.) Think ahead and decide how much risk you can bear, then purchase insurance or not. If you have enough money to cover potential medical expenses, you don't need it. If not, you do need it.
How do I get out of my health insurance contract?
My health insurance is too expensive and when I signed I was not aware that it was for a year. Now they are telling me I am locked into it for a year.
--------------------
Are you saying that they won't let you cancel it for a year, or that they won't let you make changes to the policy for a year? You should be able to completely cancel your policy whenever you want. However, changes to an existing policy that you wish to keep (such as raising or lowering the deductible) sometimes can only be done during the annual renewal period. Is that the sort of "contract" that you're talking about? That you can't make changes to your policy until your next renewal period? That's the only thing I can think of that would remotely make sense in your situation - you should always be able to completely cancel a policy?
If I stopped health insurance for 3 months will my new coverage still have to cover my pre-existing condition?
I lived in California, and I am going to have my health insurance cancelled because I cannot afford anymore. But what if I find another job and get insurance within 6 months from cancelling my insurance, will my pre-existing conditions be covered or excluded and need a waiting period before they are covered?
--------------------
There will be a waiting period, if you have a lapse in coverage more than 63 days.
Is there an organization I can join to get group health insurance rates?
I am going to end my employer health insurance coverage if I can find a better one. Are there any associations or organizations one can join that provide members a way to join a group health insurance plan? I'm thinking of organizations like art organizations, or professional organizations.
--------------------
"Group" policies through associations and the like are a marketing gimmick designed to make the average consumer think they are getting a deal. The premium for these plans are either the same as a regular individual policy or the benefits are cut to allow a lower premium. Any savings I've ever seen are more than made up by the dues of the association. The plans are individually underwritten so you can be denied or the rates increased base on your health.
