What could prevent the President from legally signing the health insurance bill?

even if it passes the House & Senate and is delivered to his desk?
--------------------
It all depends if it will legally get to his desk.

Can anyone recommend any good pet health insurance plans?

Can you share some experiences with your pets and how pet insurance helped with your pets? Serious Answers Only!!!
--------------------
I have VPI and I have been very pleased with them. It costs me $240 a year for both of my dogs. However, the have a very set procedure that you need to follow. Pet insurance does not work like people insurance, you still have to pay the full amount of the service at the vet and then you fax in a claim form to VPI and they directly reimburse you within a couple of weeks, So, you still need a credit card or some way to pay your vet. It is false that some vets don't accept, because the vet is never the person who processes the insurance. They will not cover any heriditary diseases (hip displacia, wobblers, etc) or preexisting conditions. So, to really get your $$ worth you need to start your coverage when your dog is a puppy and renew every year. Some breeds are much more expensive than others and they may not insure you if they choose. They have a couple different levels of coverage. I pay for only catastrophic injury or illness ($50 deductable), but my dogs are still pretty young and don't go to the vet a lot. If your dog does, they have a plan that is more per month, but covers regular visits, shots and such. You are required to get a yearly physical for your dog to be covered. I have only had one smallish claim ($250), but they were very prompt in sending me my check and I have no complaints with them.

What health insurance should I use?

I'm currently on my Dad's insurance plan but once I turn 18 and begin my hairdressing career (which I am currently attending school for) my insurance with him will be cut off. Any suggestions?

healthplans.my-age.net - my family have this health insurance. It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.

My boss pays 50% of my health insurance and 100% of my coworker's. Is there a labor law against this?

I just feel it is very unfair. 1st of all, the man he pays 100% for is new and 2nd, he gets paid 3x as much as I do. My boss also pays for 50% of everyone else's insurance in the company. They supposedly had an agreement prior to hiring the new guy. I just feel its not right
--------------------
They can do whatever they want so long as it is not discriminatory. Or as long as it doesn't violate union contracts. The other guy may have more experience, different work requirements, was a better negotiator. You don't know what the reason is. Just because he is newer than you doesn't mean he should be paid the same as you.

I'm 20 years old, really need some health insurance?

I graduated high school and haven't had insurance since (i was on my moms plan) I have PCOS which needs to be maintained regularly, and i'm IR. Is there any health insurance plans that are less than 100 bucks a month?
--------------------
PCOS alone will result in a decline with almost every insurance company in my state. The rest may accept you depending on your actual condition but they'll place a rider on the PCOS (a rider means they'll accept you but not cover anything related to the PCOS). Contact a local agent that works with all of the major companies in your area to find out if there are any companies that will accept you and on what terms. There is no extra charge using an agent. The health care bill will allow adult children to stay on their parents policy until age 26. If your mom's policy is a group plan have her contact the plan to see when you could get back on.

Will I be able to get on my Mom's health insurance?

So I am 22 y/o and I live in Florida and the new health care law says I can get on my parents health insurance until I am 26 y/o. Well my mom lives in New York and is on my stepdad's insurance through the City of New York. Can I get on their insurance or not? I am curious and I have tried finding out online, but can't find ANY information on this! Thanks!
--------------------
Yes, you can get on her policy. However, the policy may not have providers in FL and/or you may not be able to use a NY policy in FL except for emergencies.

Under Dems, a thinner person pays less for life insurance than an obese person. For health insurance, should?

... 0bama and Pelosi have the same rule ---- that you pay less than an obese person for health insurance?
--------------------
That's not necessary true. If you are underweight for your height, you pay the same rate as someone who is overweight. There's a small variations of weight that must match with your height in order to get a preferred rate. Then there's medical factors involved. But an obese person tend to have higher health issues that may deny him or her to get life insurance.

What happens when you don't have health insurance?

I am single and don't have any health insurance. What will happen if i get very sick, break a bone or get cancer or something like that? Will anyone treat me? are you able to get insurance after you get sick? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
--------------------
Unless Obama manages to get laws written that prohibit it, most companies will not cover you if you are already sick, or if they do, they'll refuse to cover anything related to the illness you have, and will charge you a lot more. You can get treatment if you don't have health insurance, but they will bill you for all of it, and given that a simple 15-minute doctor visit costs $100.00 you can imagine what would happen if you needed to go to the hospital. Get health insurance NOW. Go to an agent in your area who can recommend good companies. If you are young and healthy the premiums aren't that bad.

Should we have the right to choose whether or not we want health insurance?

Do you think it is unfair to force insurance on someone? *what happens to someones credit when they have these atrocious emergency room bills that they cannot pay due to being uninsured? Do they report things like that to the credit bureaus?
--------------------
I haven't ever heard why someone wouldn't want insurance, to tell you the truth. When I look at my doctor's bills there is a whole column just for showing the discount they give to people with my insurance. My daughter's father, who has no insurance, will be billed more than me for the exact same thing at the exact same practice. It seems the system is set up to benefit those of us who are insured. Yes, those bills absolutely are reported to credit bureaus and destroy people's credit. But nobody cares about those people anyway, right?

the health care bill passed yesterday, where do i sign up for free insurance?

where do i sign up? I'm self-employed, have no W2 income, pay plenty of taxes, and would like my free health insurance.
--------------------
LOL that's funny. Medicaid is the only free insurance. Obama's bill doesn't offer FREE insurance, anyway. You have to BUY it, but it's surely not free!!

How can the US continue to allow people to go without food & health insurance? how to fix?

How can one of the most powerful countries in the world "fix" everyone else's problems yet allow their own to suffer from poverty, no reasonably priced health care, Yet our senators & reps don't pay into Soc Security and get soooo much ?? Why do we as citizens continue to elect these jack***& let them continue to make these decisions with no repercussions for their behavior??
--------------------
Because it would be thoroughly unfair to force people to pay for things they can't afford. Get real. "Allow" connotes freedom, which is all a government should give you. And that same "allow" is what permits anyone to make whatever they want out of themselves, purchase whatever they want. You'd have a gripe if you could phrase the question "How can the US FORBID people from buying food or health insurance," but you can't.

Should legal immigrants be allowed to receive free health insurance?

Should legal immigrants to the USA receive free health insurance for the pregnant mom and kids? this is assuming that the immigrant is working a low-paying job, and we taxpayers help support the new immigrant to this country. Or should immigrants be abel to support themselves? SCHIP also includes free health care to the children of migrant workers, which allows food giants to exploit this group to make higher profits (and benefits are paid by US taxpayers). http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles…
--------------------
If a person is here legally they should be entitled to services like anyone else here legally. Things have changed in my lifetime. When I was young, everyone except the disabled was expected to support themselves.

Question for people who think health insurance companies should be forced to cover pre-existing conditions?

Is it fair that I can't get auto insurance from GEICO and expect the friendly Australian reptile to pay for an auto accident I already have had?
--------------------
You are more of a risk .You understand why don't you
Source

Do you think it is okay for health insurance companies to deny someone health care because of medical history?

For example, many insurance companies do not cover people with a family history of certain cancers.
--------------------
Absolutely not, nor should they deny coverage of pre-existing conditions. The idea they're sending is that people who have health issues don't deserve to have children, and anybody born with risks should have known better than getting born.

Just found out I am pregnant and I have no health insurance. HELP?

I'm 4 weeks pregnant and I do not have health insurance. What's the best route for me to take?

I do not have health insurance. Can I apply for government assisted health care?

I'm 18 and I go to high school. I'm uninsured and I have a medical crisis that requires a doctor. I need medical attention ASAP. If I'm eligible for government health care, please tell me how I would apply for it. And please do not mention that stupid health care debate. As of now, I could really care less.
--------------------
Go to the ER, they all have programs for people with no or low incomes and no insurance just tell them when they come to you for your information do not forget, all hospitals have this program. They will either cover all cost or make you pay 10%. They will also give you all the health care assistance programs in your area and point you in the direction for later assistance.

Can an employee raise your health insurance deductable?

and not inform the employee.. last year the deductable was $1,000 -- I just noticed this year on a benefit statemet it was $7,500.. I found out second hand that we are also playing ALL our insurance, but didn't know aobut the deductable raise... is that ever legal to know let employee know?
--------------------
Sure, the company can change the deductible, but the employees should be notified. I'm not aware of any law in NY that says employees must be notified, but I've never seen an employer who did not tell their employees of a change. They wouldn't want the revolt it would cause. good luck

does anyone know how long health insurance is active for after being laid off?

I was just laid off...and my insurance premium was still deducted from my last pay check..does that mean I have an additional 30 days of coverage?
--------------------
Usually the last day of the month during which you were laid off. (Which is typically how far you are paid up). By law, they will offer you coverage through COBRA. It will allow you to continue your health insurance for up to 2 years, but it is expensive, since you are paying for all of yourself. http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/faqs/faq_consume…
