Anyone know anything about buying health insurance thru Christian Healthcare Ministries?

Single mom. Make little money and cannot afford to pay for health insurance thru my small biz employer.
--------------------
It's not insurance. It looks somewhat similar to Medi-Share. It combines a discount, with "sharing of cost". Preexisting conditions are not covered. If you cannot afford real health insurance, it's better than nothing - but not much better than nothing.

Health Insurance Open Enrollment is In December I'm 23/m Just lost H.Ins off parents plan due to age do I qual?

I'm 23/m part-time student. I just lost my health insurance a month ago due to my age. My jobs open enrollment is only in December and I need health care now. Does this qualify as an exception to let me enroll now (loss of coverage)?
--------------------
you need a "qualifying event" to join your company's insurance program, at a time different than the open enrollment. There are mulitple life events INCLUDING loss of dependent status of another plan This is you: you are no longer eligible on your parents policy because of your age, so your dependent status has changed. Others are death, change in marital status, birth, adoption, etc. Your company has a "plan document" that will specify specifically what changes are allowed. Have them show you were it says that you aren't eligible. Also, I hope that you have been nagging the company for awhile about this, because you only have 30 days from the date of occurance to select the new benefits. If you asked them before the 30 days was up, you probably have a case for them to retroactivately enroll you. If you can't get enrolled, your parents insurance is also required to offer you COBRA when you lose enrollment. You have 60 days to elect this coverage. Although, they will back charge you from the start of the 60 days. It may make sense to elect this coverage and then switch to your companies benefits starting Jan 1, 2010 (chose it in December open enrollment)

Are you tired of paying hidden taxes on health insurance premiums?

My health insurance is too high partially due to the hidden taxes on it. It would be better to self pay if the system was set up fairly like many years ago. If I self pay the hospitals jack up my rate sometimes ten fold. What a scam.
--------------------
That's whats wrong with health care now. The government forces providers to provide for those who don't pay. So that cost is passed on to those who do pay. On top of that the government fixes payments for medicare etc. in many cases below cost. Here again the cost of this is passed on to those who do pay. If the government really wants us all to have health insurance why don't they let us deduct premiums from our income tax for individual policies instead of forcing us into empolyer provided programs. Why do States have coverage requirements that force insurance companies to provide prenatal coverage to 90 year old grandmothers. Its a mess due to government meddling and they fix the mess by meddling more and making it a bigger one.

A better way acquire an affordable health insurance to cover my family?

if I work for, say Pizza Hut as a part-time while I earn $65K/yr full-time job? I dont want to spend too much monthly payments on health insurance?
--------------------
I think you already know that purchasing health insurance is important. You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process so that you understand what you are purchasing. First and foremost, you need to determine how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care. This will determine the cost of your health insurance. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage, low deductibles and low copays your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand if you and your family are young and healthy and rarely use the health care system you can choose a plan that covers the major health catastrophe your premiums will be relatively low. With your annual income you may be financially able to cover some expenses out of pocket as they arise. Check with the agent that writes your home, auto or business insurance he/she can provide you valuable advice that takes into account your budget and your family's health situation. Your agent can show you different plans that fit your health situation and your budget. Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but there is so much more to the decision than price. If you want to use the Internet use it to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage. Try this site http://best-health-insurances-usa-quote.blogspot.com/ Here you can get quotes from different health insurance companies in your area, its the best way to find an affordable health insurance with a reliable company.

Will you cheer when the supreme court kills the mandate to buy health insurance part of the health care bill?

you know the one that says that if you work and make money above the poverty line that you are required to buy health insurance whether you want to or not from an insurance company that pays its executives enormous amounts of money like $20 million dollar a year salaries and offers plans like for family coverage for a family of 3 that costs over $18,000 a year to an employer and employee combined.....and for very crappy coverage??

yes. unfortunately we will be stuck with the rest of that God-awful law. REPEAL IT!

Why were people booing Obama when he said no health insurance for illegal aliens?

First, who was booing him? cus it seemed like the republicans were.... Second, why the HELL would we give health insurance to people who don't even belong in this country in the first place? that is just going to be another incentive to stay in this country illegally...
--------------------
The boos weren't for Obama. They were for a boorish Republican in the audience who called Obama a liar when he said the plan wouldn't cover illegal immigrants.

Why do liberals hate the health insurance industry so much?

At least they could be fair, you know, and have a little balance. Maybe we could force some of the industries they love so much to compete against the government. Let's force FedEx and UPS to compete against the postal service and watch them fail. Or maybe we could have the private schools face off against public schools, they wouldn't stand a chance. Take that, liberals.
--------------------
Finally an admission that the right is in bed with business interests and has their interests at heart and not that of the public. Did you get it. Do you like it , do you love it.

Why should freedom-loving Americans be forced to have health insurance?

Liberals like to make alot of noise over the fact that 40 million Americans (45 by some estimates) have no health insurance. ...to which I always respond, "so what -and- big deal" If Americans choose to not participate in a health insurance program, who are we to judge? Is that not their right? Some people might feel that they are young and healthy enough to risk doing without such insurance, and I'm am sure that the Founding Fathers would agree they are guarenteed such liberty under the US Constitution. Some eschew modern medical techniques for religious reasons. Some people don't feel motivated enough to earn enough income to cover such a plan. Others opt for homeopathic remedys. Still others like to gamble that they will not need insurance coverage, especially in their youth. WHATEVER their reasonings, this should be respected and NOT overruled by the plotters and schemers trying to cram mandatory Socialist Medicine coverage down our collective throat.
--------------------
They shouldn't. The government should run government and the individual should take responsibility for themselves. The limpy liberals want the taxes to skyrocket so the government can take care of everything, whats next government toilet paper? Why don't we have the government tell us what to do throughout our whole life, what to eat where to shop where to work, hell Castro can give us some ideas. What needs to be done is pressure on the insurance companies to make health care more affordable. Stop the malpractice suits from the filthy lawyers and the welfare rabble would keep costs down also.

Is it fair to shove health insurance down the throats of low-income workers and fine them if they cannot pay?

That's what Hillary plans to do. Not even a mention of how these people will be aided if they cannot afford it.
--------------------
Thank you, at least you listened. It is just like the Romney plan in MA which fines people $700 if they don't get insurance which makes no sense at all. She had to admit it when Obama called her on it and he highlighted that his plan does not mandate it and thus making his plan $50 billion and $65 billion Contrast that to HIllary's which will cost $110 Billion. His plan is cheaper

How to get antidepressants without health insurance?

Is it possible, without going broke paying for a doctor appointment and prescription? I'm desperate.
--------------------
You have to pay for the doctor because you have to get a prescription but there are a number of anti depressants that aren't expensive. My son take the generic for Celexa and only pay's $4 a month at Target....... if you can't even afford a doctor then find a local free clinic... the lines are long and the service can be poor but they have a lot of people to help and not much money to do it with.....

What's the difference between an HMO and a regular Preffered Access Health Insurance?

What are their benefits? How do I know which is the best for me? The information my job provides is not helping
--------------------
If you elect the HMO, you will agree to use the network of doctors, or receive no benefits - you will have to pay 100% of any bill. If you use a "Preferred Access" plan, your out-of-pocket responsibility is lower if you use the insurane company's network physicians and facilities. However, if you don't you will be reimbursed, usually after meeting a deductible, and then, only a percentage will be paid. This is until you reach the "out-of-network" maximum "out-of-pocket". Insurance companies are always giving you financial incentives to go to where they get the best deal on care. If the information from your employer is inadequate for you to make a decision, ask to speak with the broker/agent that handles the case.

What is a current European health insurance card and how do i get one?

Going on a trip and need one of these but dunno what it is lol
--------------------
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is a replacement for the old E111 document. It is used to allow you to receive free or cheaper healthcare when you visit certain European countries. They are free, so it's definitely work getting. Even if you have health/travel insurance, some of the policies only cover you for medical things that are not covered by the EHIC. You still need the separate travel insurance though, as the EHIC only covers you for certain emergency procedures, and not for the cost of getting you to the hospital. You would get a massive bill if that happened and you had no insurance. If you click on the following link it describes the EHIC in detail, and also allows you to apply for one: http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Healthcare/Healt…

Why are Republicans against making health insurance affordable for more Americans, as if it is a terrible idea?

Who's side are you Republicans on?
--------------------
It will only be more affordable to the 15% who didn't have insurance to begin with. It will be much more expensive for the rest of the 85% who did. Also your state taxes will go through the roof due to the huge expansion in Medicaid which is partially funded by states. There is no limit to liability and no limit to what the insurance companies can charge so the result will be most of us will end up spending so much on insurance, we won't be able to afford the copay to go see a doctor, or should I say physicians assistant because there won't be enough doctors to go around. 40% are going to stop practicing medicine due to this "wonderful" bill. It is a terrible idea and I'm on the side of what is best for all people in our country. EDIT: Some of them are now paying $1250 per month because some of the insurance companies just raised their rates as much as 25% due to this bill. They specifically stated they raised their rates due to this bill.

13days to delivery and want to upgrade health insurance?

I just found out that my plan sucks. It only covers $5,000 for vaginal delivery or C section. And to think I just renewed Jan 7, I could easily have bought the better one. So I requested tonight to change upgrade my plan to the better one which covers everything. Is this possible? They said they will get back to me in 1-3days....my fingers are crossed. My health insurance is PSI under Multiplan Inc.
--------------------
You're not going to be eligible to change your plan again, if it just renewed as of January 7th.

How do you deal with depression and anxiety when you no longer have health insurance and cannot afford to pay?

full price for prescriptions? I don't have health insurance as of the new year. My problem is that I am taking three different prescriptions for depression and anxiety, (Wellbutrin XL, Effexor XR, and Ativan) and I can simply not afford to pay full price for them (around $250.00 per prescription). Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to help myself? I am already mentally prepared for withdraw, I just don't want to end up feeling hopeless and worthless. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
--------------------
I have been trying to treat mine without prescripts: start by watching what you eat (healthy eating makes you feel better...) and try to work out more often. Contact the local county mental health department and find a therapist who offers services on a "sliding scale" so weekly/biweekly sessions are more within your means. Professional help is essential to helping you solve this problem. In addition, keep a journal: this is key to helping your therapy work best ~you can review it and see what your consistent issues are.. and try to figure out what some of the causes are.. I have also been taking vitamins, fish oil and consistently doing yoga/stretching to try to keep my "stress" levels down.. Also, family/friend support is helpful too: let them know you are having a tough time and want their help and support to get through it. If you are religious, this may be a time to reach out to that community also or if you are not (like me), it may be time to find a group which fits your beliefs. Also, find new hobbies. It is good if they are social, but even if they are solitary and you enjoy them: hobbies give you something to look forward to and distract you (ps: tv doesn't count!!) I've had friends come down off prescrips and it isn't fun.. just remember you are in charge of your health: mentally and physically!

Can an Expecting Father get health insurance?

I applied for health insurance with Cigna and they called me today to say that my rate would increase by 25% because 2 months ago, my doctor prescirbed a very limited quantity of xanax for occasional stress. I told the underwriter that I was just stressed because my fiancee was pregnant. She called me back 10 minutes later and told me they were denying coverage because my fiancee is pregnant. How is this legal? Does anyone have a similar story? Can someone recommend health insurance that will accept me if my fiancee is pregnant?

Is it fair for the Obama administration to blame the high cost of health care on the insurance companies?

When in fact they demand lower costs from health care providers. Nobody says you have to have health insurance. You can pay cash for your care then you will see for yourself where all of your money is going.
--------------------
NO.. but it is convenient. There not the problem.. but. They are this week.. a few weeks ago it was greedy doctors. I wonder if he will get around to saying it's greedy personal injury attorneys... Uh.. I think not.. that would hit home just a bit too much.

Help! I need money to help with the cost of health insurance for my son with periventricular leukomalacia.?

I have a 2 and a half year old son who requires intensive therapy. We have to keep him covered by 2 health insurances, or we would be spending even more on co-pays, as he goes to 5-10 therapy sessions a week. The cost of the health insurance is about 500 a month. We are trying to get money put into savings, but can't do that until we get this health insurance thing under control.
--------------------
That is a rare disorder, so it might be difficult to find a foundation or organization that specializes in that alone. I agree with an earlier answerer that you might see if there is a religious organization that will take you under its wing. The only two sources that I've found that might be able to help are: Needy Meds (link below): It contains links to health care resources. You can search programs by state or by the condition (I searched for PVL but did not find anything or on brain injury either). However, it might be worth searching for programs in your state. Also, Needy Meds has discount drug programs if your son needs medications. National Organization of Rare Disorders (link below): They have a resource page and program listings, although again I didn't see anything specifically about PVL. However, I found them through a government PVL site. The NORD site has a networking feature that allows you to get in touch with other people with PVL or who care for someone with PVL. Good luck. do i need to take an exam when applying for health insurance?

I lost my job and group health and have to apply for individual health insurance for myself (age 37 good health) and 2 kids ages 10 and 9. Are there exams that my kids and i have to complete or do they order physician records??
--------------------
~~To my knowledge no, there is no exam for health insurance (unless it is required through a state law). You will fill out an application, which you will need to answer thoroughly and completely. Then if they need further documentation, they will request medical records.~~
