How much would it cost me to provide Health insurance to the employees in my small business?

We have a small trading (business to business) company located Manhattan, NY. There are a total of 5 employees, how much would it cost for me to provide health insurance? How does that usually get paid? Is it split between the employers and employees or is it paid for solely by the company? Thanks in advance!
--------------------
If you choose to form a group health plan, then you'll have to pay at least 50% of the premium, and you'll have to have at least 75% participation (yourself included). You'll need to work with an insurance agent that specializes in group plans to see how much it would cost. Alternatively, you could offer to subsidize employees' health care costs, by increasing compensation by a set amount each month.

What is the name of the health insurance co. that members of congress have?

I want to know soo that I can call them to enroll myself & my whole family. I will tell them that the president of the United States promised that I could have the same insurance as members of congress at a reasonable rate, so I would like to sign up now. In fact we should all start callin for our health insurance!
--------------------
Members of Congress and the President get their health insurance through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB). The benefits are a significant piece of their compensation package, and offer a richer menu of coverage than what is typically covered by Medicare. Members of Congress also have given themselves a generous tax break, which lowers their taxable income on the portion of the premium that they pay. the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the FEHB program offers working Members of Congress, retirees, and their survivors the widest selection of health plans in the country. In addition to health insurance benefits, Members of Congress may also receive dental, vision, as well as long-term care benefits. Generally the federal government (funded by the taxpayer) pays up to 75% of the health insurance premiums, and Members of Congress cover the other 25% out of their (taxpayer-funded) salaries.

Will health insurance cover my heart condition?

I am looking to buy my own insurance but am wondering if my heart condition that i was born with will be covered or if it will be considered a pre-existing condition. My heart condition is not life threatening, but it is expensive to go to the cardiologist. I am looking for some type of health coverage. I haven't had health insurance in almost a year. I am only covered when my mom has a full time job, which she does not right now. Sorry if it doesnt make sense but any useful information will be greatly appreciated.
--------------------
Hi Rachel, I've been in the insurance industry for a while and this question comes up very often. My advice to you is to get an inexpensive high deductible policy with an exemption for your condition. This means that whatever expenses you incur from your condition won't be paid by the company but your premium will be much lower. After you've gotten your policy, I recommend you open a health savings account. You can deposit as much money as you want up to the amount of your policy deductible yearly. This money accumulates very quickly and is tax favored but can only be used for health purposes. (Otherwise Uncle Sam will hit you with a very hefty penalty) After a while depending on how much you're depositing, you'll have a nice cushion to help you out with your doctor visits and such. This way you can be insured for any health problems you have other than your heart condition and sort of self insure yourself when it comes to your preexisting condition. i hope this helps. If you have any more questions you can let me know or read my blog for some reference. allyinsurance.wordpress.com

What is the best type of health insurance for a poor college student with a thyroid plroblem?

Hello- I just started college a year ago and last year had problems with my expences, everything went to school and food basically ---I kept a strict budget and saved A LOT, and because of that this year i THINK i can afford health insurance and i really need it for i have been going without my thyroid prescription because it is kinda pricy and i have to PAY a doctor to get the persription renewed and all the tests that go with it. So- does anyone know of any good health care plans , kinda on the cheap side that would help me out with my doctor visits and prescriptions?
--------------------
Most colleges and universities have a health plan available on campus. This will be your cheapest option. Depending upon your state and your exact thyroid problem, individual plans will either not cover your thyroid for a certain period of time as a pre-existing condition or they will decline your application altogether. Visit a local independent agent that works with all the major plans in your area. The agent can find out if a plan will accept you or not or will not cover your thyroid. The plans and premiums are exactly the same whether you use an agent or not.

Where does government forcing its citizens to buy health insurance fit into a free society?

After all, we are free, right? Free to choose? In a free society, wouldn't the decision whether to have health insurance be left to a free individual and not on mommy government as Comrade Obama wants it to be?
--------------------
It doesnt. A free society by definition would have very little government intrusion into our lives. When democrats are in power, they supplant individual freedoms with government management, they suppress the private economic sector and promote government programs and controls (regulations). It is all about power. By making more and more people dependent on federal government, democrats make themselves careers in govt bureaucracy. Democrats give themselves lifetime careers in government at taxpayer expense or help friends in the private sector with large taxpayer paid contracts.

Can you turn down health insurance at your job to get paid more money?

My wife has great health insurance through her job. I was just wondering if this is possible before I bring it up at work. Can I turn down my health insurance and ask to be paid more money each month?
--------------------
Health insurance is optional as far as I know. The only difference in your paycheck will be that your employer won't be taking out any money for your portion of the health insurance payments. So I guess you could say that you would end up with more money in your net pay.

Where can i get a good health insurance coverage plan for my dog?

my dog is growing old and has arthritis, bad stomach, and various health problems. He is 12 year old and now needs lot of vet treatment. But vet bills will be big and i need to find dog health insurance quotes. Where do i find it from?
--------------------
Obama's dog, Bo, is rumored to be working on "Bo Care". It's a $900 billion piece of legislation and all you have to do to see what's in it is pass it. BTW, according to one source "If the entire world eliminated dogs, the total output of greenhouse gases would be reduced by 1.8%." Keep an eye out for environmental extremists...

Can expats returning to America get health insurance coverage for preexisting conditions?

In my case I have type 1 diabetes. If I live abroad(Sweden for example) and later return to America, will I have to wait 1 year before I can qualify for coverage diabetes related health care expenses. Assuming I have a job that offers good to health insurance benefits.
--------------------
You need to maintain "creditable coverage" while you are abroad. See link below for more information. Unless you are former military or federal employee, I see two options: 1) Cobra 2) A state run, high risk insurance pool. The problem with both options, other than the cost, is that only emergency services will be covered outside of the US. So you may need an international travel medical policy also. See the second link. The travel policy will not cover preexisting conditions, or meet the definition of creditable coverage (my opinion). What I don't know is, how will you obtain your meds while overseas? Pay for them out of pocket, or can you have them mailed to you? Happy travels. Don http://mtnhealthinsurance.com

When was the last time your health insurance agent performed surgery?

Why do so many see health insurance as a necessity? I see it as a legal bookie service and nothing more, just add to the cost of our health care.
--------------------
Health insurance is the result of government meddling in the market during World War II. Wage and price controls were implemented so companies offered "benefit packages" to attract workers since wages were capped. The entire system, which democrats demand be fixed, is entirely the fault of democrat administration meddling in the market in the first place. Would you like to take a wager that a democrat administration will make the situation any better by more meddling in the marketplace?

Can I reimburse myself health insurance costs from my company?

We used to have individual health insurance, and I would pay for it out of my own company (an S Corp). When we got insurance through my husband's employer, I stopped reimbursing myself. He is paid for by the company, and then it costs extra to add myself and our child. I was just going to deduct health insurance premiums on our Sch A, but we don't have enough other medical expenses to meet the limit. Is it ligit to go ahead and reimburse myself the amount that it cost for the health insurance? Then it would be a business expense. Thanks.

Would health insurance costs be lower if it was really for Emergency use and not checkups?

It seems like health insurance is a high cost item because people go in for every little sniffle, instead of when they are seriously injured or sick. Should Health Insurance companies pay for regular checkups and physicals, and pass the cost to customers, or should people just pay those out of pocket?
--------------------
Actually, healthcare cost a lot because companies HAVE to pay for people who do not have insurance, at the Emergency Room. (I have two EM docs in my family) Emergency docs get paid about twice what family practice docs do, and the overhead at an ER in the hospital is much more than a private practice. Our insurance could be much less if we'd just give everybody the freedom to have yearly checkups at their family practice doc instead of waiting until things get out of hand and expensive and they show up at the ER with a tumor or go there for a cold.

How do I apply for free health insurance when I have a terminal illness but am still able to work?

I have a terminal illness but I am still able to work, however, I am on COBRA because my last job wrongly fired me. I am not poor but I simply cannot keep paying for COBRA. I cannot go for Medicaid because my good doctor does not accept Medicaid and I do not want to owe lots of money and have to worry about paying it off. I heard there is a program with either Social Security or Medicare where all you need to do is fill out a few forms and get a letter from your doctor stating that you have a terminal illness. Then you will receive health insurance for little or no cost and your doctor has to accept the insurance. Does anyone have any info on this? I am not disabled to the point where I cannot work, but my bills are a lot of money even with the COBRA coverage.
--------------------
Here is information about Social Security Disability Insurance: http://www.ssa.gov/disability/ and http://www.ssa.gov/dibplan/index.htm and Since you are still able to work, I do not think you'll be able to qualify. If your doctor is unable to accept Medicaid, then you may want to find a new doctor if you can qualify for Medicaid. You want COBRA, rather than your own individual policy, because it still is a "group" policy which cannot be terminated (except for non-payment of benefits) whereas an individual policy can be terminated at any time. Medicare - you have to be a certain age - and it still isn't free. Information about Medicare can be found here: http://www.medicare.gov/ and http://www.medicare.gov/MedicareEligibil… Are you currently working at another job? See if you can get put on a group health insurance policy.

Can my health insurance ask for reimbursement from car insurance?

Had a car accident and was in the hospital for close to a week. Health insurance covered everything except copays and deductible. The car insurance is waiting to see if my health insurance is going to ask for reimbursement before they pay out anything. Seeing that I pay my health insurance premiums for situations like this, can they ask for reimbusement?
--------------------
They can, and they will, and they're entitled to it. Otherwise, if BOTH policies are paying out, that's "double dipping", and your health carrier can ask YOU for reimbursement. Even if the other guy was at fault, the health carrier will likely put a lien against any judgement you get against them - so the attorney gets paid first, the health carrier gets paid second, and you get whatever is left over.

How does it work when both spouses have health insurance?

Is it worth it to have two people w/health insurance? What are the benefits? How does it work when you go to the doctor, who covers it? Thx for any info.
--------------------
Usually (in most states) the law reads the person who is BORN first in the year (as in MONTH/DAY) covers the family. you can keep the policies seperate if you want but when you have kids, it will follow whoever was born first So if one of you is Jan and one is Feb (Jan covers the kids at least...should you decide to keep yours). Now - if you dont like the Jan policy - cancle it - that way the person with Feb can cover the whole family. Some policies allow you to have a primary and a secondairy policy.. but SOME will not - so before you assume - be sure they will allow it this way. If they do - you can run the charges through one, then the co-pays, out of pockets etc throught the second. Hope this helps!!!! If you have any more questions - feel free to contact me!

How much can I purchase catastrophic health insurance for?

I am going to be overseas for one year or so, still maintaining a residence in the US. I am looking to buy catastrophic health insurance with $1000 deductible just in case. I am male, 43, in great shape, no health problems, nonsmoker. Thanks.

What is the cost of baby health insurance?

I am doing a project for health class, called baby's first year. I have every thing that i would cost to have a baby except Doctor, Hospital cost and health Insurance. If you know how much it is, I would love it because I have googled it and you need all this detailed information.
--------------------
Depends on the policy. With my previous employer the health insurance premium was $216 a month for my son, with my current employer, it is much cheaper and I only pay $20 a month for one child. The total cost will also depend on what benefits are available for the child under the plan. Babies go the the doctor a lot during the first year for regular check-ups. Usually seven times (at two weeks, one month, two months, four months, six months, nine months and 12 months) more if they are sick. With my old plan, I had to pay 20% for all visits which was about $60-$80 each time, but with my new plan it is a flat $20 co-pay for each visit.

How is an online health insurance plan different from a normal plan?

I am looking for a health insurance plan, and I came across this term while surfing the net… please let me know if there is any difference in the price or the way you use an online plan and a regular plan. Is there any difference in the benefits in the plans or any other difference? Since I am working I don't have time to meet agents and that's why I wanted to know the difference between them... please let me know asap.
--------------------
There is no difference. You can buy the same plan online that you buy offline though not all companies have the ability for people to apply online but most do.
