if my health insurance deductible says it is 750 annually do i have to pay 750 first?

i am getting insurance and it says my annual deductible is 750..im not sure what that really means. Everything says i have to pay that before any of my health benefits will work ??? but it says my office copay is 30??
--------------------
It will depend on the plan but with most plans if you have an office visit co-pay it is not subject to the deductible. Neither are prescription co-pays. Some plans will have lab work and X-rays covered under the co-pay and others will not, they are subject to the deductible. Also, co-pays are not usually applied to the deductible. After you've paid the deductible most likely you will still have to pay co-insurance (a percentage) until you've paid up to the out-of-pocket maximum (if there is one), after which the plan will pay 100% of medical charges other than the co-pay.

Health Insurance Question for College Student?

I am only 20 years old, but I am a full time college student. I am under my parents health insurance policy. We have blue cross. I am wondering, if I do decide to go to school PART time, will my insurance get cut off?
--------------------
Depends. The Health Care amendment Pres. Obama signed into law hasn't yet gone into effect. However, once it does so (and some companies are starting it now) you should be on your parent's policy until age 26 So... check with your parent's insurance person before dropping full-time status.

In California under what circumstances can a private health insurance company cancel an policyhoders coverage?

Can a private health insurance company cancel a policyholder's coverage at any time for any reason? If not then under what circumstances can an insurance company cancel a policyholder's coverage? Are there Federal Laws that govern this? What about state laws specifically in California?
--------------------
I hate to tell you this, but insurance companies can do what ever they want...I hope you read your summary of benefits and the contract you signed. I suggest you get the book "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz at your local BArnes and Noble...it will help guide you through the process and help you find cheaper ways to pay for your healthcare that you may not even realize is at your fingertips!!!!! It also gives websites that are very helpful and may be able to help you with your situation....one website mentioned in the book is www.naic.org that may be helpful when it comes to this......I this helps.

If you lose your job, do you keep your health insurance?

I don't mean the COBRA plan, I mean the same health insurance you had when you were working. Someone told me that Obama passed a bill for people who lose their job to keep their health insurance for 3 months. Is this true? Is so, any explaination and links will help.

Can a health insurance provider (that you don't want) demand personal data?

I recently joint a new company and waved health insurance coverage, because my spouse's plan is better. Now the health insurance provider for the company DEMANDS! SSN and DOB "because they need it for their files and it is a requirement". I have no intention of doing any business with them and I am shocked that they are so agressive about asking that personal information. Do they have a right to do so?
--------------------
not if you dont do business with them.

is my health insurance in UK valid after i left UK ?

I have european health insurance card issued in uk when i was living and working there, i am traveling around the world as i have enough money not to work now for a couple of years. 1) is this card still valid and will remain valid as long as the expiry date on it? 2) if i have an accident and go to a hospital somewhere in EU (not UK) do i need to worry that i will need to cover medical expenses as i am not living nor working in UK at the moment?
--------------------
I am not sure what you are referring to. If you mean the Blue EU health card. This is not valid outside the EU but will remain valid within the EU until it expires. If you are in the EU and fall sick then the you are entitled to the same health care that people resident in that country get. This may very well mean you have to pay and it varies widely from country to country. You will need to check for each and may consider additional private health insurance to make up any gaps, including costs of returning you to your normal country of residence, when you die or are seriously ill/injured If you refer to a private scheme it will only be valid until it expires and will only cover you for what is detailed in the policy. Hope this helps

Question for people who pay their health insurance?

Does the person who pays the health insurance for the family see on the statement exactly where you go to the doctor, and if you get a prescription filled, exactly what medicine you got? My dad has it taken out of his paycheck through his work monthly...if this makes a difference. I'm asking because I'm 18, and I'm going to go to a doctor and get medicine that my dad doesnt agree with. I'm on his insurance though and I don't want him to find out.
--------------------
If an insurance claim is filed, then an "Explanation of Benefits" or EOB will be sent to your father. The EOB will provide the following information: - Date of medical service - Description of medical service - Name of physician - Name of patient - Dollar amount of claim - Dollar amount covered by the health insurance plan - Dollar amount required to be paid by patient, parent or legal guardian

Can Aetna raise my health insurance premium?

Just got a notification in the mail about my insurance premium going up by 26 dollars a month (25%). I started paying for my own health insurance when I switched employers about 8 months ago. My health hasn't changed since then, my age hasn't changed, but it went up 25%? I thought that when you are first quoted a rate it was locked in for a certain period of time. Is there anything I can do to stop or at least slow this down? They gave me 2 months notice before the rate increase. Help!
--------------------
Some insurance companies have rate-guarantee policies that will lock in your original rate for a certain period of time, but many don't. Unfortunately, it is not terribly uncommon to be hit with a rate increase like this. You can be sure it wasn't anything personal – they probably raised rates across the board in your area. Since it sounds like you are paying for your own coverage (rather than getting it through an employer) you can take this as an opportunity to make sure you've still got the right health insurance plan and are getting the most for your health insurance dollars. Talk to a licensed agent or visit an online agency like eHealthInsurance.com (where I work) to review quotes from leading companies and see if there's another plan that might better match your needs and budget. If you want to talk with one of our licensed agents for personal advice, give us a call at 1-800-977-8860. Best, - Amir M, licensed agent

Using Clomid and losing health insurance benefits?

I was googling clomid and saw a warning that if you use clomid in the US that you could be denied health insurance if you became self-employed or switched insurance companies. Is that true??? Why would using clomid make an insurance company deny you coverage?

how come 60 million Americans Lack Health Insurance?

but car insurance is mandatory. Isn't that ironic? Americans must have car insurance but not health insurance.
--------------------
Interesting. If you don't have car insurance, you don't drive. If you don't have health insurance, you can get messed up. If you believe that it is the responsibility of the state to look after the welfare of the citizens (what else is the purpose of the state anyway!), it is the failure of the state not to provide health care for all citizens.

How much of 45 million that don't have Health Insurance are?

Illegal Immigrants and People who rather buy other items and that think they are young with out health care. So I will pay out of my pocket for people who shouldn't be here another entitlement for them. Then we have people who are to lazy to get there own and they don't now it yet. What percent is that of 45 million the new number for democrats?
--------------------
I think I've heard about 9 million of that number. But the numbers change, depending on who is spouting them.

Are the republicans excited about their health insurance costs doubling or tripling soon?

I would be very excited also. I love those 20% yearly increases from blue cross.
--------------------
They will blame it on the Democrats when that happens for not following the 'reforms' the GOP is suggesting. I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts? FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3]. Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4] Maybe that is because in the USA, insurance companies push up costs, buy politicians and refuse to pay claims that people pay for [5]. (Look up Wendell Potter on YouTube to hear more if the link below is too long.) Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8]. Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare? If you think my arguments are wrong, e-mail me with proof. But if you can not, let Obama try to help America. If he fails, vote him out in 2012.

in massachusetts how does somebody get health insurance if one a visitors visa?

what kind of cost is it and is it required? what options exist?
--------------------
You needed to take care of that before entering the US. When my mother came for a visit, she bought a travel health insurance plan at the same place she bought her plane ticket at. It only covered hospital/doctor's visits for accidents and sudden illnesses (like the flu) and excluded paying for any treatments for any preexisting conditions, even if there was a sudden flare-up of the illness requiring treatment.

How much does it cost to get your 'license' to sell health insurance?

I was just on an interview & the guy told me before i got the job i would need to get my license. He also told me it would be a couple of hundred to get it. How much are we talking here? Is it hard to get your license?
--------------------
It depends on your state and what the requirements are. My agent paid for me to get my life and health license, but I already had my property and casualty license. Make sure you take a course to review the information you need to know for the exam and don't necessarily go with the cheapest course...if you have to take the test a second time it will cost more money both in $ and in time. Hope this Helps!

i have no health insurance and cannot stay on my anxiety medication?

i take ativan .5 once a day.i ran out 2 weeks ago i have quartered what pills were left that ran out now i am having withdrawals.my coordination is off,i am hot all the time,i am having horrible nightmares.i didn't think such a small amount would cause this ,since i was not taking it consistently the past 3 months.does anyone know a natural way to withdrawal and how long does it take.it is a horrible feeling.i have no medical insurance so a doctors visit is out.help please!
--------------------
Yeah you are suppose to ween yourself off of anxiety and depression medication for this reason. You may want to contact your doctor and ask if they can call you in more meds so that you can ween yourself off of them rather than just stopping them all of a sudden. Explain to them that you currently do not have medical insurance and all the side effects you are having now that you are off them meds completely. Good luck to you and God bless.

How can any American citizen support a bill that forces you to buy health insurance?

I can understand wanting universal healthcare (even though I don't agree with it) but how can anyone, especially an American citizen, support this?

How much does Permethrin 5% typically cost w/o Health Insurance?

I am definitely sure I have scabies. So I need to get a prescription for Permethrin. However, I do not have health insurance. I am sure the doctor visit will cost some, but how much does Permethrin 5% (Such as Elimite, Acticin) typically cost?

The cost of rx depends on dosage and where you are buying. Mail order is the least expensive. If you get the eHealthPlus membership, you could save to 70%.

health insurance rejected me but won't give me the results? how can i obtain it?

I was originally going to buy health insurance because my family noticed that my health wasn't so good. And without health insurance, check-ups and tests could costs so much! After running pea tests etc. on me, the health insurance company rejected me and I asked why (for the test results) and they said they cannot give me it unless my doctor requests it. But if I don't have health insurance, why would I have a doctor? What can I do to get my results back?
--------------------
They are required to give you, and only you, the reason for the denial but they are not required to give you the test results. For example, they would tell you if they denied you because of a heart problem but they don't have to tell you the exact problem nor the readings from the test.

How much would health insurance be for me?

I'm 19, a non-smoker, with a body mass index of 19.9. I am in pretty good health, I did have spinal surgery when I was younger and corrective jaw surgery last summer but other than that no pre-existing conditions. I just got dropped from my parents coverage and the job I'm working doesn't offer me enough hours to be full time and get coverage so I have to buy my own, and I'm wondering how much that will cost. http://handyproxy.cn/health-insurance.html
