Any suggestions on a dental plan or individual health insurance pIan?

I live in Texas, I'm 26, homemaker. I need to see the dentist desperately and after calling around, I realize it's going to get pretty expensive. I would also like to see an orthodontist & any other "general" benefits that I could get, I would definitely use. Any suggestions? I'm in pain!
--------------------
A good dental plan will provide you with more benefits than dental insurance and usually covers more procedures. I found my dental plan at Dentalplans.com and I'm very happy with it. All you have to do is type in your zip code to find a participating dentist in your area. Plans start at about $79.95 but you can save hundreds of dollars a year (or more depending on how much work you need done). There's a review at http://www.dentalplansreview.com

Does health insurance and other alternatives elminate reason for having Universal Healthcare?

I need statistics and graphs. And some answers.
--------------------
Of course not. Today's insurance costs way more than most families can afford. Medicaid is for the poor, so unless you are very poor or very wealthy, you cannot get insurance.

Why do some young people refuse to buy health insurance?

Some claim they can't afford it. However they don't seem to have a problem buying expensive clothes, phones, and video games.
--------------------
Really? How do you know this? Have you done some sort of survey of the young uninsured? Show us some sources or it didn't happen. I think you're full of stuffing from last years Christmas turkey.

Are employers required to provide some degree of health insurance?

Say if I recently have had an injury that occurred in the workplace, due to a fellow employee's actions, and I had to go to the hospital; so is my employer legally required to cover the costs of the hospital visit?
--------------------
That's covered not by regular insurance but by the workers' compensation program.

What health insurance company are the taxpayers providing coverage for members of government?

Can they be dropped from coverage or denied a doctor ordered procedure? Should we discontinue their coverage until the figure out a way to cover every American citizen?
--------------------
It is not the governments job to provide insurance for every American. Members of the government are employees and one of their benefits is health insurance, I'm not sure what company they go through........

Have the supporters of "Health Insurance Reform" stepped to the ultimate low ?

They have just used the grandson of Ted Kennedy, standing in the pulpit of the Catholic Church as a pawn in their zeal to force their agenda on the american people. This question is not about Kennedy or health care but the bad taste of members of the executive and legislative branches of government and the democratic party.
--------------------
It is a funeral and the child is not a politician. Ted Kennedy supported health care reform. There was nothing wrong about the child saying so. How dare you critique what his grandson said.

Can the subscriber to my health insurance policy contact the clinic I am seen at to talk about financials?

i am seen at a psych clinic and my mom is the subscriber of my insurance. I really do not want her calling and talking with them but someone told me that because she is the subscriber of the policy she has access to my financials at the psych clinic, is this true?
--------------------
True. As the subscriber, it's HER insurance that's paying the bills. Anything regarding the cost or finances of your visits, she has access to. She CANNOT get access to the doctor's notes, though. It's only MONEY rights that she has.

affordable health insurance in Florida for someone who is 22 with no kids.?

I am 22 years old and I live in Florida. I have no health insurance but I really need it because I have asthma and alot of other health issues that seem to come up alot. Does anyone know of any type of affordable health insurance or anything that could help me?
--------------------
Most health insurance is expensive; it depends on what you mean by "affordable." Also, if you don't have a job that offers a group plan, it might be difficult to get insurance to cover your pre-existing health issues. Here is a plan that might help: http://www.basichealthinsurance.net/ And here is a link that gives information and more links about about health insurance: http://www.medsave.com/health-insurance-…

What Health Insurance Options are available to Self-Employeed in Texas? I have high blood pressure.?

I have been told that I will have to pay more because of high blood pressure and high cholestrol. Is that true?
--------------------
There are many options for self-employed in Texas. I work for Insurance Advisors. We specialize in hard to insure clients. We can insure just about anyone in Texas. Sometimes if an applicant has certain health conditions they will be required to pay a rated premium that is higher than standard but the policy will then cover pr-existing conditions if an insured is paying a rated premium. We have Texas Health Insurance Companies and Las Vegas Health Insurance Companies that will underwrite just about any risk. The days of not being able to get great insurance just because you are self-employed are over. You can go to http://www.lvhealthins.com or Call us direct at 409-283-3393 We will be happy to help you if you reside anywhere in the state of Texas or Nevada.

Can health insurance companies drop a person if they get a major illness?

(Or raise their premiums so high that they cannot pay, which is basically the same thing.)
--------------------
The answer to that is an "Absolute" YES. For most health insurance companies and many HMO's this is a common practice. Some will even deny care due to a violation of their policy rules (ie. they will claim that you had a pre-existing condition that was not declared - even acne) and retroactively make you pay back what they for on a claim. The most common practice though is to increase the premiums to the point that you can no longer afford it or go bankrupt.

Is it state law in Oregon that you must carry health insurance.?

I work in NC for a company that is based out of Portland, Oregon and I was told that I was required to carry there outrageous health insurance plan due to state law. Does anyone know if this is true and if so does it apply if you reside and work in NC?
--------------------
OK, if you live and work in NC, you're subject to NC laws, not Oregon laws. The ONLY state that requires health insurance is Massachusetts. Your employer cannot require you to be on their group health insurance, unless they are picking up the full cost.

How exactly is a government mandate to purchase PRIVATE health insurance a government takeover of healthcare?

Do facts seem to escape Republicans because of irrational fear or is it simply a matter of political tactics to lure the "not so bright" to their side? Does "govenment takeover" not imply that there is no involvement from private companies?
--------------------
Maybe you can't read the constitution or refuse to, but since you have access to the internet one would think you could use a search engine and find out what it says pretty quickly. Apperently you aren't that curious. Nowhere in the constitution does it say that the federal government can force me to buy anything. The powers of the federal government are specific.

Can I get free health insurance?

I'm a poor college kid making less than $10,000 a year and was wondering if I could get free health insurance? I need a procedure done that will cost $800 and I can't even afford it. Please help?
--------------------
there's no such thing as a free lunch... Maybe your parents have health insurance you can get in on. Or you college may offer health insurance for a fee but the good news is getting school loans is easy and they're the best type of loan to pay back. My job gives me free health insurance but it's not really free as I have to go into work every day. If it's serious get it treated waiting will just make things worse.

What Will Be The Penalty Imposed By the IRS For Not Having Health "Insurance"?

Now that health care is a mandated utility, in 2014, I'll be able to wait until after I get sick to buy health "insurance". Why bother buying car insurance, when I could buy car insurance after I wreck? Which brings me to the fine. I'm far from rich. so I just want to know exactly what the penalty will be for willful failure to purchase Federally mandated health "utility"?
--------------------
It's not a penalty. It's a "tax".

How long after you leave a job does your health insurance is supposed to expire?

My mother says by law, it should cut off 3 months from when you left the job. Does any know the legal side of this?
--------------------
It may depend on how the company has set up the plan, but every place I've ever worked, you're covered through the last day of the month you leave. So if your last working day were today, for example, you'd have coverage through May 31. After that, you can pay the premium yourself, the same rate the company pays, (called COBRA or State Continuation), for up to 18 months.

It is the same for both. Health coverage starts the day you leave for BCT.

Would most health insurance pay to have an abscessed tooth pulled if the patient is already in the hospital?

My brother has a brain abscess that has been tied to an abscessed tooth. He needs to have the tooth pulled, but couldn't it be done while he's in the hospital and cheaper?
--------------------
Well, the hospital is the most expensive place to have everything done. But no, most health insurance policies won't cover it. It's a dental issue. Neglecting dental issues CAN lead to health issues, but it doesn't make it NOT a dental issue. And heck, it costs around $100 to $150, depending on the tooth, to have it pulled. So it's not exactly breaking the bank, anyway.
