health insurance???

okay i am 17 and pregnant and my passport just said i was not able to have it anymore because my mom makes too much but she dont make nothing is there any other way i can get free healthcare for the obgyn??
--------------------
Medicaid is one way. Most hospitals also offer something called MSI. Look into both. If all else fails you could go to your local Planned Parenthood. They will do free OB and prenatal checkups. Good luck.

Are health insurance premiums that I pay and are deducted from my paycheck paid with after-tax dollars?

My health insurance is through my employer but I have to pay part of the premium and it is deducted from my paycheck each pay period. I am filing my taxes and am being asked if the premiums are paid for with after-tax dollars. Any answers?
--------------------
Premiums are tax deductable as a part of your medical expenses if you are filing long form. You add up every co-pay you made to doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions and the total cost you paid for these premiums and then you get a percent of that total back on your taxes. Anything that you paid for any type of health care is deductable as long as you have a receipt (or in the case of health premiums you pay) they are on the W2. Health insurance?

Its expensive! If you don't have it you can lose your shirt first time you have a major problem. If you do have it, the premiums are ridiculous. Are the public hospitals required to admit regardless of insurance of not? I still can't get over the fact I was in Honduras last september and had to go to the emergency room after having breathing problems from congestion due to a cold. My bill was $55. Saw a doctor, nurse and got a thorough look at. Was even put on a respirator. And no, insurance or filling out papers was never done. I was never asked to show an insurance card or even if I had insurance. My friend that lives there asked me what I paid. I said $55 dollars. She said, oh they charge you double because you a tourist. I was fully expecting to have to pay several hundred dollars or more. I was more than happy paying the $55 dollars. Same treatment in U.S. would have run me well over several thousands dollars without insurance.
--------------------
Public hospitals will admit even when a patient doesn't have insurance, and a lot of the time they'll work with the patient on a payment plan after they're discharged. A lot of patient care is even written off as "charity cases" because the patients have no feasible way of paying the bill. Hospitals lose thousands of dollars each year to this and most of them work it into their yearly budgets. I work in a hospital and if we didn't take patients who don't have insurance then we'd lose half our patient load some days. However, it's still worth it to have insurance if at all possible. Not all premiums are over the top (mine aren't), and it will save you a lot of money and hassle over the long run. American healthcare has grown so expensive lately because everyone has to pay so much more in malpractice insurance than they used to because of exorbitant lawsuits, and the extra money has to come from somewhere.

Health Insurance?

I am a US citizen, my wife is from Mexico and she is pregnant. I already applied for her green card. But no Insurance company wants to cover her because she does not have a Social Security number, what can I do?
--------------------
Go to the Social Security Office and apply for a number for your wife. They are not in any way attached to Immigration, and by law can not inform law enforcement of the number, address, or any information they have on a person, unless that person is committing fraud against social security dept itself, such as receiving SSI under false pretenses.

health insurance?

Dear friends, I was an international student in the past spring semester and my health insurance is still valid until the end of this summer. Thankfully I have not used my insurance at all and I was wondering if you my friends could give me any smart ideas on how I may be able to get the most out of my health insurance before it expires? I assume there would be no refund to me from the insurance company even if I have not had a single claim on it. I paid almost 500$ for it and that kinda hurts to see it is going to expire soon and you have not benefited from it at all! Hope you understand and thank you very much in advance for your smart ideas and any advice or information you could give, warm regards, Rojin
--------------------
Health insurance isn't like a car rental - it's a BET. And, this is October, so . . what do you mean you have it until the end of this summer? It's mid fall now. If you only paid $500 for it, my advice, if you're determined to "use" it, is to break an arm or a leg. Likely, you'll have a hefty deductible, also, so expect to be out of pocket even more than the $500, but at least you make those darned insurance companies pay you something, even if it costs you more, and hurts a lot.

health insurance?

i'm a self employed 28 y/o male, where in the hell can i get health insurance that isn't like 800 bucks a month?
--------------------
You need to do your research. Call around to the big names (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, etc.) as well some smaller or local insurers. Make sure to compare benefits across the boards. Get quotes from many different sources and then use these to bargain with different insurance companies. You could try a site such as http://www.insurance.com which may be able to get you many different rates and may save you from doing some leg work.

Health Insurance?

I've recently changed jobs. The job that I have right now doesn't offer insurance at the moment. While looking for affordable health insurance I got injured playing soccer (I was diagnosed with torn ACL). Any idea what shoud I do now? According to the doctor the surgery can wait few months. Should I hide my injury from the insurance company and get the insurance, then after some time fix my knee etc? Please help.
--------------------
Do not listen to the other Bozos answering your question. You really only have one or two real options due to your diagnosis and pre-existing condition. You will not be able to hide your injury from any insurance company now that you have had a diagnosis by a doctor while previously covered by insurance....they all report to the MIB (Medical Information Bureau) and you will be discovered sooner or later and your claim will be denied. If they did pay any claims you will be required by law to pay them back in full. Option # 1) Get a new job with "Group" coverage. Group is guaranteed issue and if you have had no break in coverage for more than 31 days (in most states) the one year pre-existing clause is eliminated and you should be covered immediately. Option # 2) Have your current employer (if they do not offer coverage) pay you as a 1099 self employed individual. In most states an individual that is self employed may apply for a "Group of 1" guaranteed issue health plan. If you have gone past your 31 days you may be accepted for the insurance but given a 1 year waiting period for pre-ex. conditions. Did your other job offer you COBRA? If you don't know, ask your old employer. If they did offer it, you have 63 days to accept it and assume the coverage....in which case your injury (if incurred in the 63 day window) would be covered.

Is theTax on Health Insurance the back door in for Euthanizing Older retired Workers?

So an older retired worker can afford really good health Ins., so what , he payed or is paying for it, now you raise his taxes so every thing becomes too expensive and he chinces on health insurance and care and goes to a gov't. assisted health care facility with limits as to care and he dies. Aren't You politicians wonderful?
--------------------
Only people that believe all the Republican lies think this is true. The Cons are misleading the American people in an attempt to salvage their party and regain control of the government. It's all about politics and is far from the truth.

Which are the best health insurance companies in Australia for dental claims?

Is it worth joining a health insurance scheme for dental work and is there a company that will allow dental coverage only without paying for hospital or medical benefits?
--------------------
According to my receptionist who handles the HICAPS, the best dental plans are R & T (transport union), or Teachers' Federation. For either of these you need to have a family member who is in that industry. Next best is NRMA for anyone to join. Worst at present is NIB. Whether it's worth joining is a tricky question - it depends on what your current needs are, and what might happen in the future. If you have good teeth with no holes, then you would only need cover for perhaps braces and wisdom teeth. Might be better just saving up the money after you consider the amount you would have to pay in (12 months qualifying period), and the amount of rebate you would get back. Or take out a loan if either of these treatments are necessary. If you've had lots of cavities, then you'll probably benefit from cover because you'll always have something that needs maintenance/repair. Similarly if you're a parent with kids and they might need treatment. The health funds only bundle dental with hospital because they make most of their profits from the hospital cover. The dental/chiropractic/sports/ ... cover is an add-on. Consider going to a dentist for a check-up and standard diagnostic Xrays (bitewings) plus an OPG Xray for wisdom teeth before you make a decision. Ask him/her their opinion.

When travelling to the US from the UK what is the diffeence between travel and health insurance?

Im unsure on whether travel insurance would cover any possible medical treatment i might need, or is that under health insurance. I cant find any basic information on which type of insurance covers me. Does travel insurance mean im only covered for travel and belongings or does it cover any emergency medical treatment i might need?
--------------------
Travel insurance will cover emergency medical treatment - illnesses or injuries that occur whilst you are in the USA. Health insurance is to pay the cost of non-urgent treatment that you decide to have.

Where can I find basic and cheap health insurance?

I am a 25 year old part time college student looking for very basic and cheap health insurance. I had prior insurance under my father's plan but was dropped when I turned 25. Legally I can elect COBRA continuation coverage but the monthly cost is above what I can afford. I am looking for cheap insurance that would cover doctor visits and prescriptions. I am not very knowledgeable about any of this; any advice would be greatly appreciated.
--------------------
sorry buddy, I do not believe there is such an animal. I think "cheap health insurance" is about as extinct as dinosaurs. Right now I am paying almost $1000 per month for a family of 5 (actually 4 because my employer supposedly pays mine). The worst part is that the stupid plan isn't worth crap. it just doesn't pay for stuff like I should. I mean d@mnit if I pay 12000/year, I would expect to be able to get something out of that plan, but there are so many loopholes and stuff that I end up paying that and a bunch on top of it. I could almost buy a car for that much money every year... Insurance companies are the biggest fraud ever passed unto the naive americans. Insurance companies are the DEVIL. We should get rid of all forms of insurance and promote personal responsibility. Yeah, like it used to be you know. You go to the doctor and pay for the services period. If doctors will have to deal directly with real people, they won't be able to charge the insane amounts they charge, because they'll have to look you in the eye. Only a couple of months ago I hurt myself with an axe. It really wasn't much. They had to do an xray and 6 stitches. and that cost me almost $800. HELLO? 6 freegin stitches and an xray should not cost that much.

Where can my boyfriend go to get an STD check if he has no health insurance?

I won't have sex with him until he does and he said he will, he just doesn't know where to go. On similar questions people have mentioned planned parenthood, well the closest one to where we live is an hour away. He doesn't have health insurance. And Is there any place he can get it done for free?
--------------------
You can go to www.hivtest.org and put in your zipcode. The will give you come locations that provide free HIV testing. When you call them ask about free STD testing. Your local health department should also do free testing. Good Luck and Koodos for you!!!

I dropped a class and only have 9 units now, will I still have health insurance?

I'm on my parents health insurance plan which is Anthem Blue Cross. I dropped the class September 16th thinking that I would be covered till 26 without being enrolled in full time units. But I read that the being covered till 26 just kicked in september 23rd. So will I still be covered by health insurance?
--------------------
Unless the insurance company finds out you dropped that class, you'll stay covered. You should have waited until Sept 24th to drop.

Is a Health Savings Account considered health insurance?

My job just implemented a Health Savings Account and I don't understand if this replaces my health insurance. I feel like I'm getting ripped off but I may be misunderstanding this.
--------------------
Health Savings Accounts have to be "matched" with HSA-compatible health insurance plans to function correctly. So the HSA isn't replacing your health insurance, your entire setup is being changed. I would ask for a thorough explanation of your new HSA and answers as to how it differs from what you had before.

Can I take freelance or contract jobs without losing my COBRA health insurance?

I got laid off my full time job but kept my group insurance plan through COBRA for the next 18 months. If I take a freelance or contract job, can I still remain on my COBRA health insurance plan or would I need to get a new personal plan if I did freelance work? I am getting surgery in a month and want to make absolutely sure I don't lose my insurance if I take this freelance job I got offered.
--------------------
You can keep the cobra as long as the place you're working doesn't have an insurance plan of their own. I worked contract jobs through Manpower, they offered insurance as a choice to their temps.

When do we get our new health insurance cards? This week or next?

Okay now that the health care bill has passed, when can we start to use it?Ill be able to get things checked now that I couldn't before. Will the goverment start mailing our new health insurance cards out this week?Aren't you happy?I sure am.This is the best Congress ever!
--------------------
The final health care bill hasn't been passed yet. What happened last night is that the Senate passed their bill. We now have two bills that need to be merged into one bill, one from the House and one from the Senate. This is the closest we've ever come to overhauling our health care system and providing health care insurance coverage to most of Americans. Kudos to President Obama.

Federal tax exemption for health insurance?

What does it mean when there is "federal tax exemption for health insurance".. in simple words so i can understand clearly.. thank you.
--------------------
Health insurance premiums are not taxed at all under the following situations: 1. The taxpayer is employed and pays his health insurance premiums out of his pay before he pays taxes on his pay. This is "pre-tax". 2. The taxpayer is self-employed and pays health insurance out of his net profits. But there is no general exemption from federal tax for health insurance premiums.
