If you have no health insurance and you need an operation?

can a hospital deny you care? Can they put a lien on your home if you can't pay the hospital bill?
--------------------
In US jurisdictions hospitals are not allowed to deny basic emergency care to sexual assault victims, pregnant women in labor, and those for whom denial of care would likely result in death or serious injury. (Hospitals without emergency departments --- such as most psychiatric facilities -- are exempt,of course.) As to extent of the emergency care, it is generally held to mean at least "stabilize and transfer". Beyond that, they most certainly CAN deny treatment, and can do whatever is necessary and lawful to secure payment for services. So -- the answer to both of your questions is YES.

I wonder what would happen if I just decline to buy health insurance if the bill passes?

So fine me. So what. I won't pay the fine. Charge me with contempt and lock me up. Then we can go to the supreme court and challenge the mandate.

Why does president Bush want to veto a bill to make sure all children have health insurance?

and why is he paying blackwater international while they are not running missions in iraq?
--------------------
I may be wrong, and not trying to provoke any bad statements. However I beleive the increase of funds was not intended to put children of well to do families say $82,000 and up on government insurance but is to cover more eligible children, and families that currently they are not able to take care of. Those families that are working good paying jobs, most already have good employer, and employee paid insurance already. So to me this idea that they will join government paid insurance does not add up. Our usa has paid at least close to $600 billion dollars and more to come !!!! on the Iraq invasion. With little or no talk what soever of what is being cut in our deserving u.s. citizens tax paid benefits to divert these huge funds to a needless occupation. Well folks, the bills are coming due !!! The money being alloted almost $200 billion every three months for bombs and bullets does not grow on trees. I think the idea of taxing cigarettes was a poor choice of finding funds... Who on earth would tax a system of death and addiction as cigarettes to promote funds for life giving insurance? While the bill does have some good and bad sides. It was a poor choice to choose cigarrettes. Surely they could find some other way to find funds. Hmmmm $35 billion for needed child insurance for the future of our country, or $ 200 billion for bombs and continued war and death. ?????? Which will it be ????

Will the government-funded health insurance company drive private insurers out of business?

Just like the US postal service drove UPS and FedEx out of business?

When will we be required to have health insurance?

When will government make us buy insurance?
--------------------
In the current form, the 2014 target date will never see the light of day. 13 states have filed breifs with SCOTOS already. Some states back east have already passed state initiatives banning its implementation on unconsitutional grounds. This thing is going to get real nasty soon.

I am in College does my dad have to claim me to remain onhis Health Insurance Plan.?

I am 21 and currently in college full time, if i claim myself on this years taxes will my dad's insurance company drop me.
--------------------
No, the insurance company doesn't care about taxes. As long as you are in college full time you can stay on your dad's plan. However, most plans have a maximum age.

Do cons understand the difference between free insurance and affordable health care?

Do you understand that we dont want free insurance, we want affordable health care? Future health care reforms must make health care more affordable. The remaining challenge is to define a truly "level playing field" and make health care affordable for all Americans.

Is Clomid covered by most health insurance providers?

Does anyone know the estimated cost for someone with health insurance?
--------------------
I found one article (link below) that cited a survey showing that 44 percent of private insurers and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans cover clomid and 67 percent of HMOs cover clomid. However, I could not locate the original survey and it is from 1993, so the data is probably obsolete. I would think that it's gotten easier to receive infertility treatment under your insurance plan since 1993, though. The International Council on Infertility Information Dissemination has a page (link below) on possible insurers that will cover infertility treatments (through employers). I've also included a link to a page from the American Fertility Association that lists recommendations about what to look for in an insurance plan that covers infertility treatment. Walgreens has Clomid 50mg tablets: 10 EA $134.9930 EA $392.89 Walgreens has generic equivalent Comiphene Citrate 50mg tablets: 10 EA $44.9930 EA $113.69 Check out MostChoice.com. You can compare various local health plans and speak to state-licensed insurance agents who can answer all of your questions. What do you do if you don't have health insurance?

I need to have some dental surgeries done and I don't have the money to pay for them. My wisdom teeth are growing in and pushing my other teeth out of the way. It is very painful and ruining my teeth. How do you pay for something like this if you are a 21 year old college student with no money and no parents?
--------------------
Health Insurance CAN pay for wisdom teeth to come out, but it depends on the circumstances. I just had a client with Aetna pay to get them out. However, you don't have health insurance so it's too late for you. You need to pay out of pocket. You can also contact a dental school to see if you can get it on the cheap. When it's done go get some health insurance. It's not expensive and it's not nearly as expensive as needing it and not having it.

Will my health insurance go up if I buy a motorcycle?

Lets say I have health insurance through a parent, and I purchase a motorcycle. Will there be any consequence for the health insurance deductions or benefits that we receive through the health insurance company? Also, how could a health insurance company find out about the motorcycle in the first place?
--------------------
No. It is against the law for them to base your rates on activities unless you turn in repeated claims for related injuries. Turn in claims on your motorcycle policy, NOT your health Insurance.

Licensed Health Insurance Assistant to Broker looking for a job in Arizona.?

We are thinking of moving to Arizona, I am a Assistant to a Health Insurance broker, looking for the same in Arizona, most likely moving to Chandler, Glendale area. Where can I look or any brokers will need any assistants
--------------------
Have you ever considered going into business for yourself? At this point I would suspect you have quite a bit of knowledge that you could put to use to build your own book of business and residual income. The reality is that 7 out of 10 people in America are uninsured. Many are uninsurable, don't qualify for (pre-existing conditions) or can't afford traditional insurance plans. Have you considered offering Fee for Service Discount plans? It sounds like this would be a great fit for you and Chandler is a wonderful area for it. For more information please feel free to contact me directly or visit my website for more details. http://www.iboplus.com/sgullen I love being an independent benefits counselor with Ameriplan. They have an incredible amount of programs to offer that meet a wide variety of needs. You'd be able to set your own hours and make full commission not an hourly rate that a broker is deciding you're worth. It's a great time to be in this business and I'd love to chat with you more about it! :)

How does health insurance work in Medical School?

Can anyone explain ?
--------------------
Most school sponsored policies are limited benefit ($50,000 or so) and your primary care provider is the campus clinic. The cost is in addition to tuition, and if you are like most of us, added on to your student loan.

Do you have a rotten health insurance plan like me?

They refuse to pay for my operation and now they are threatening to cancel my policy after I have paid them on time for years. Its those damed Republicans.
--------------------
Damn republicans? You nuts or just crazy? If you have health insurance that covers specific things, then there is no problem. On the other hand if you have insurance that did not cover you, then shame on you for not acquiring it. Do not blame your problems on a political faction. You probably think the government should pay for your health care. I have medical insurance I pay for and why should I be taxed to pay for yours. This makes no sense. Especially if Obama gets his Soviet Style health care approved. This will give free medical care to about twenty thousand illegal immigrants. The argument is that we pay for these criminals now. If Obama gets his way, the normal doctors office will look like the emergency room in Los Angeles

Can I buy my own health insurance when I retire at age 53 with 30 years of service?

I am a public employee. I will get a pension from the Ohio School Employees Retirement System and my monthly premium will be $260 per month. Can I do any better than that if I were to buy my own?

I don't think so about 300 is the best I've seen

Do you hope the rotten health insurance companies go out of business forever?

What a nest of vipers hooked up with their puppet politicians.
--------------------
I hope that the health insurance companies in our country can find new leadership that is not corrupt and actually care about the people who they cover. There is too much power in the hands of these large insurance companies, and too much is at state for them to continue on as they have been. Our citizens have such poor health compared to other nation in our similar economic situation, it is embarrassing and tragic. Hopefully more people will support health care reform and we can get out people healthy once again.

What should we do with the 47 million Americans who don't have Health Insurance?

As of 2005, there were 47 million Americans without Health Insurance, 80% of whom were citizens. And in the two year period between 2002 and 2003, 82 Million were without Health Insurance for some period of time. What should we do? Ref: http://www.nchc.org/facts/coverage.shtml

I have MS. I am only 25 years old. My work requires that you work 30hrs a week to get insearance. Most of the time I am good to go, I love working and I am there when I need to be. But then as is common with MS there are times when just trying to get through a four hour shift is imposiable. So I lost my insearance, since I went under my 30. But I still would have to pay for it. So I don't have insearance. But I also cant go on disablitlity since it is only sometimes that I have a problem. Its hard. Yeah I think that we need a universal health care system, do I think its possiable, not really. Yeah one would have to wait, but I would rather wait 18 months then know that there isn't a think I can do.

Ladies--Does your health insurance cover maternity? If so which company are you with?

My husband and I are about to start trying for a baby so I am researching our options as far as health insurance. The health insurance we have currently does not cover maternity. We would like to pay for it on our own instead of applying for Medicaid. Thanks.
--------------------
I have Blue Cross HMO and they have been great. I actually ended up miscarrying (sorry, I usually wouldn't mention it but it is kind of necessary to the explanation) but when I went to have labor induced they put me in one of the nicest hospitals and I stayed for 3 days. They covered my entire stay including all my meals. I did not have to pay anything even though the total came to over $6000. The care I received during my pregnancy was wonderful and all I ever had to pay for was the co-pay ($10 a visit, not bad). I would for sure recommend Blue Cross.

Can you get Lasik without health/vision insurance?

I don't have health or vision insurance, but would like to get Lasik, and would be willing to pay the full amount. Do these places offer some form of insurance to cover potential problems with the operation, since I'm uninsured?
--------------------
Many Lasik providers will allow you to make payments should you choose to use their services. You will need to discuss any follow up care with them before you decide to use them. Follow up care should be included in the initial cost of the procedure. At times you may need a minor adjustment to obtain the best results. When shopping around, make a list of questions, read on line about the procedure both benefits and problems with lasik. This way you make an informed decision. Use your judgment and their responses to gage if you want to use them or not. Do not go with the first one, shop around ask people who have used their services. Your vision is way too important to take chances with. There are people who have had it done and it has changed their lives. Some have had many problems. Should you have it done, DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD TO DO ON YOUR PART! It can make the difference between success and a huge mistake. Good luck!

Will There Be A Way to opt Out Of A Health Insurance Mandate If They Pass This Bill?

The Amish are exempt. Why can't I be as well? I want NO PART of this legislation. You people do what you want. Just leave me out.
--------------------
Its a government take over... They say it isn't but it is. The government want to take us over so they may have more power and control over our choices. They think that we are stupid and we need help. To the person above me that said Repubs hate Americans for not voting for it... You are ignorant. Work harder, get a better job, and pay for your daughters bills. I do not want to pay for her "condition" and neither does anyone else. I am 21 years old and pay for my own health care. I pay just about $200 a month. I have a prosthetic leg I received 6 years ago. I bought my insurance 2 years ago. I told them I had the leg and it would require more surgeries. They said ok and were more than willing to help me. Everyone needs to shut the hell up about not getting health care and do something about it. Go buy it. Stop depending on your government to solve your problems.

In need of supplemntal health insurance?

my mom currenlty has health insurance through her job, but of course, the health insurance company does not pay for everything of which some of the things her doctors really thinks she needs. Are there any companies that offer resonable supplemental health insurance to help pay for copays, shots, medications, etc., that her current health provider wont pay for? Also, are there any that will accept pre exisiting conditions, or do you have to be perfectly healthy to be eligible. Please help............
--------------------
There are no supplemental policies to pay what you want paid. The policies available are for major procedures and hospitalization. The only way to get the copays, etc. paid is to get on Medicaid.

should the US have a nationwide health insurance program to cover all people?

i say yes, im writing a possion paper and i need websites and other sources
--------------------
The problem with nationalized health care is that the overall quality declines. It really is true that one gets what one pays for. It could mean mediocre care for mediocre illnesses, substandard care for rare illnesses unless you can afford to pay for private health care. It would be nice if all people could be insured somehow, but having us all on the same plan that is paid for by the government is not the answer.

Can US citizens obtain the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), and if so, where?

I will be traveling to 6 different contries in September, from the US, and would like to obtain the EHIC if available.
--------------------
You are only entitled to the EHIC if you are a resident in the EU and pay taxes. If you don't live in the EU, you can't have an insurance card. Good luck.
