Paper for Understanding Health Insurance?

I have a paper due for my Understanding Health Insurance college class. I have to find 2 articles that are related to health insurance billing/coding that are not technical and were written in the last 6 months and summarize them and then write a paper explaining why it is important to stay up to date on such issues. However, I can't seem to locate any free articles online that meet that criteria. Do you happen to know of a good place for me to start? Thanks!

you are supposed to collect as much as resource as you can by searching the relevant keyword in search engine,if you have good luck there, then your problem solved.however,if you could not find the fitful answer by doing that, here http://www.HealthInsuranceFreeTips.info/free-health-insurance.htm is the resource i prefered.

What exactly is socialized health insurance?

I have heard much, but I still am not fond of what it generally is. Please explain. Thank you!
--------------------
Alice, a socialized health care system in America would be most beneficial to the millions who cannot get any medical coverage. Medical and pharmaceutical costs would be reduced to an affordable level. An American socialized health insurance plan run via the US Government would provide free health care to Americans that would be revenued through higher taxes and not cover elective treatments. This would ensure that all Americans received the healthcare treatment they needed to stay healthy. Right now the average American has to do without health insurance in many cases. When there has to be a choice between feeding your family and having medical coverage most choose to eat. The American that falls through the income crack has fewer options than any other group of American. Hopefully someday all Americans will be able to get their medical needs met no matter what income bracket they come from. Hope I answered your question.

What are some good health insurance plans for college students?

that is, college students who don't have any money... Please provide links if possible!
--------------------
Most students get their health insurance through a parent's plan or through their college's or university's health plan. These are especially valuable options for people with pre-existing medical conditions, since most of these plans cannot turn you down for coverage based on your medical history. You *can* get turned down for coverage (in most states) when you go out and purchase a health insurance plan on your own. However, if you're fairly young and healthy, you may be able to find some affordable individual coverage options. It's hard to make a specific recommendation, however, since each state has its own health insurance market, and you didn't mention where you're living. Here's what I suggest: Visit an online health insurance agency like eHealthInsurance.com (where I work), or talk with a licensed agent. Online, you can get free quotes from a broad range of health insurance companies and compare rates and benefits to find one that works for your needs and budget. You can even apply for coverage online. If you want to talk with one of our licensed agents, give us a call at 1-800-977-8860. In many states, there are a whole host of health insurance options to choose from, and even some plans specifically designed for students. Good luck! Amir M, licensed agent

What is the best way a low income student can get health insurance?

Again, low income and can't rely on parents and how could I get retro coverage for an emergency bill a month ago. Currently uninsured, only insurrance is car insurrance.
--------------------
Check out health plans available through your college and see what students like you are doing about health insurance. If that doesn't work, several major insurance companies have developed plans aimed at the so-called "young invincible" market – people in the 20's. That's a good thing since about a third of all recent college graduates don't have health insurance. Two of the most prominent plans are from Blue Cross Blue Shield and UniCare. The BCBS plan is called the "Tonik Health Plan" and was originally developed in California, but is expected to expand rapidly. It features low premiums ($70-$135) and high deductibles ($1,500-$5,000). Another plan for men and women in your age group is from UniCare. Again, it started in Texas but is supposed to branch out to other parts of the country. It's called "Sound" and has features similar to the BCBS plan. Health plans differ in three basic ways: •monthly price/annual deductible •access to health care (the degree to which you can visit whom you like and undergo medical treatment a specialist thinks you need) •financial strength of the insurance company Also, the price of a plan is not simply the premium you pay each month. You also have to consider the annual deductible, as well as any coinsurance amounts or copayments. Additionally, the savings you can achieve through an HMO, PPO, or other managed care plan can be erased if you have to go outside the network for expensive medical care. I've included links to two articles that do a good job of walking you through making the best possible choice in health insurance you can afford that still provides the coverage you need. You might also want to look into short-term medical insurance. It doesn't offer the same range of benefits as longer-term insurance, but many people get these kinds of plans when they're in-between jobs. Typically, they last from a month to six months, although you can find short-term policies that last for a year. Short-term plans usually help pay for: •Hospital room and board •Ambulatory services •Intensive Care •Lab Exams •X-rays •Prescription medications The Web has many different Web sites where you can compare and contrast local health plan prices and features. MostChoice.com is one such site, and you can also get in touch with local area agents without any obligation. Tell them what you want and what you want to pay and have them do the legwork for you. You can visit MostChoice here: http://www.mostchoice.com/health-insuran… Hope this helps, Barnes@MostChoice

people who cant afford health insurance are quacks?

i see the merits of having universal health care, kind of, but it seems to me that the problem is a lot of middle class citizens who just decide nto to purchase health insurance on the premise that "they cannot afford it", and instead opt to buy material goods that are solely for luxury. you cant go out and buy nice cars and houses and bypass health insurance and then cry it off that the government should give free care to everryone.......i definitely agree it should be cheaper for the poor etc. bottom line: ppl need to realize health is the most important thing in there life, and satisfy that need, before thinking about personal possesions (nice cars etc)
--------------------
I agree my children get help with health care because we cant afford the 300 a month extra to pay for insurance. It is getting harder and harder though to get certain things for them because they keep tightening the budget. I think there are a lot of people who abuse the system which is sad. I wish they made affordable health care I could pay for and not feel like a leach.

I have a rash but no health insurance. What to do?

I want to see a doctor about this rash. I'm sure it's either poison ivy or ringworm from this dog I was petting at a local book store a few days back. I've been looking at health care plans but a lot say they want an annual deductible of $2,500 to $8,000. I was told that I would need to pay that amount before my insurance kicks in. What should I do?

Health Insurance When you know your Pregnant?

My father passed away last week very unexpectedly and he maintained health insurance on me. I am 11 weeks pregnant and my health insurance was terminated yesterday. I live in GA, is there anything I can do to get insurance even though I am pregnant already? It is not like I cancelled it for not paying. Please help. I am so afraid of having to pay so much money to have this baby!
--------------------
Go to the DHS or the WIC place and apply for Medicade. It will take care of everything. I used it when I lived in Georgia and was very pleased with my healthcare.

Where can I workpart time and have GOOD health insurance?

I am going from full time to part time but I need a job that offers good insurance for me and my family.

Most companies do not provide health benefits to part time employees. In order to have health benefits - you will need to be employed full time.

Will I be able to get on my Mom's health insurance?

So I am 22 y/o and I live in Florida and the new health care law says I can get on my parents health insurance until I am 26 y/o. Well my mom lives in New York and is on my stepdad's insurance through the City of New York. Can I get on their insurance or not? I am curious and I have tried finding out online, but can't find ANY information on this! Thanks!
--------------------
Yes, you can get on her policy. However, the policy may not have providers in FL and/or you may not be able to use a NY policy in FL except for emergencies.

Now that Al Franken is Senator,Should I bother to renew my health insurance?

What is supplemental health insurance?

And how is it different from regular health insurance?
--------------------
Major medical pays for doctors and hospitals. A supplemental policy pays you cash benefits if you are sick or hurt. The policy pays a predetermined benefit amount. The idea is to help you pay for additional daily expenses you might incur (baby sitters or gas money) or for deductibles and co-pays that you might be responsible for. The cash benefit is paid to you. You choose what you want to do with the money. It gets more complicated quickly because there are numerous type of policies and benefit plans available to choose from.

What happens when you don't have health insurance?

I am single and don't have any health insurance. What will happen if i get very sick, break a bone or get cancer or something like that? Will anyone treat me? are you able to get insurance after you get sick? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
--------------------
Unless Obama manages to get laws written that prohibit it, most companies will not cover you if you are already sick, or if they do, they'll refuse to cover anything related to the illness you have, and will charge you a lot more. You can get treatment if you don't have health insurance, but they will bill you for all of it, and given that a simple 15-minute doctor visit costs $100.00 you can imagine what would happen if you needed to go to the hospital. Get health insurance NOW. Go to an agent in your area who can recommend good companies. If you are young and healthy the premiums aren't that bad.

Under Dems, a thinner person pays less for life insurance than an obese person. For health insurance, should?

... 0bama and Pelosi have the same rule ---- that you pay less than an obese person for health insurance?
--------------------
That's not necessary true. If you are underweight for your height, you pay the same rate as someone who is overweight. There's a small variations of weight that must match with your height in order to get a preferred rate. Then there's medical factors involved. But an obese person tend to have higher health issues that may deny him or her to get life insurance.

Should we have the right to choose whether or not we want health insurance?

Do you think it is unfair to force insurance on someone? *what happens to someones credit when they have these atrocious emergency room bills that they cannot pay due to being uninsured? Do they report things like that to the credit bureaus?
--------------------
I haven't ever heard why someone wouldn't want insurance, to tell you the truth. When I look at my doctor's bills there is a whole column just for showing the discount they give to people with my insurance. My daughter's father, who has no insurance, will be billed more than me for the exact same thing at the exact same practice. It seems the system is set up to benefit those of us who are insured. Yes, those bills absolutely are reported to credit bureaus and destroy people's credit. But nobody cares about those people anyway, right?

the health care bill passed yesterday, where do i sign up for free insurance?

where do i sign up? I'm self-employed, have no W2 income, pay plenty of taxes, and would like my free health insurance.
--------------------
LOL that's funny. Medicaid is the only free insurance. Obama's bill doesn't offer FREE insurance, anyway. You have to BUY it, but it's surely not free!!

Should legal immigrants be allowed to receive free health insurance?

Should legal immigrants to the USA receive free health insurance for the pregnant mom and kids? this is assuming that the immigrant is working a low-paying job, and we taxpayers help support the new immigrant to this country. Or should immigrants be abel to support themselves? SCHIP also includes free health care to the children of migrant workers, which allows food giants to exploit this group to make higher profits (and benefits are paid by US taxpayers). http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles…
--------------------
If a person is here legally they should be entitled to services like anyone else here legally. Things have changed in my lifetime. When I was young, everyone except the disabled was expected to support themselves.

How can the US continue to allow people to go without food & health insurance? how to fix?

How can one of the most powerful countries in the world "fix" everyone else's problems yet allow their own to suffer from poverty, no reasonably priced health care, Yet our senators & reps don't pay into Soc Security and get soooo much ?? Why do we as citizens continue to elect these jack***& let them continue to make these decisions with no repercussions for their behavior??
--------------------
Because it would be thoroughly unfair to force people to pay for things they can't afford. Get real. "Allow" connotes freedom, which is all a government should give you. And that same "allow" is what permits anyone to make whatever they want out of themselves, purchase whatever they want. You'd have a gripe if you could phrase the question "How can the US FORBID people from buying food or health insurance," but you can't.
Source

Do you think it is okay for health insurance companies to deny someone health care because of medical history?

For example, many insurance companies do not cover people with a family history of certain cancers.
--------------------
Absolutely not, nor should they deny coverage of pre-existing conditions. The idea they're sending is that people who have health issues don't deserve to have children, and anybody born with risks should have known better than getting born.
Source

Is it fair for the Obama administration to blame the high cost of health care on the insurance companies?

When in fact they demand lower costs from health care providers. Nobody says you have to have health insurance. You can pay cash for your care then you will see for yourself where all of your money is going.
--------------------
NO.. but it is convenient. There not the problem.. but. They are this week.. a few weeks ago it was greedy doctors. I wonder if he will get around to saying it's greedy personal injury attorneys... Uh.. I think not.. that would hit home just a bit too much.

Can an Expecting Father get health insurance?

I applied for health insurance with Cigna and they called me today to say that my rate would increase by 25% because 2 months ago, my doctor prescirbed a very limited quantity of xanax for occasional stress. I told the underwriter that I was just stressed because my fiancee was pregnant. She called me back 10 minutes later and told me they were denying coverage because my fiancee is pregnant. How is this legal? Does anyone have a similar story? Can someone recommend health insurance that will accept me if my fiancee is pregnant?
