Is theTax on Health Insurance the back door in for Euthanizing Older retired Workers?

So an older retired worker can afford really good health Ins., so what , he payed or is paying for it, now you raise his taxes so every thing becomes too expensive and he chinces on health insurance and care and goes to a gov't. assisted health care facility with limits as to care and he dies. Aren't You politicians wonderful?
--------------------
Only people that believe all the Republican lies think this is true. The Cons are misleading the American people in an attempt to salvage their party and regain control of the government. It's all about politics and is far from the truth.

If you get disability do you lose your health insurance?

I live in Tennessee and I have PHP health insurance. I am thinking about trying to see if I could get disability because of my many health problems. I am wondering since the government pays for my health insurance and I get approved would I lose my PHP?
--------------------
I think you can keep your insurance. Disability is intended to cover your cost of living, not pay for medical care. They are two different entities. But, it never hurts to ask them!

How can you get prescribed to Adderall for cheap without having health insurance? I'm soo ADD.?

I start school in June and I've been off of my medication (adderall) ever since I graduated High School. I want to be back on it for when I start college in June. Does anyone know how to get prescribed to it for cheap without having health insurance?
--------------------
You go to the Multicare. There has to be one in your area. It's a flat rate $50 to see the doctor. You tell them your situation and then it's 50/50 if they'll write you an Rx. Psychiatrists generally are the ones who more commonly write those Rxs. Explain your situation to the doctor and if you have proof that you've had the Rx in the past you should be Ok. Go to the pharmacy where you got it filled and ask them for a history. They will print it up for you and you can take it to the doc.

Which are the best health insurance companies in Australia for dental claims?

Is it worth joining a health insurance scheme for dental work and is there a company that will allow dental coverage only without paying for hospital or medical benefits?
--------------------
According to my receptionist who handles the HICAPS, the best dental plans are R & T (transport union), or Teachers' Federation. For either of these you need to have a family member who is in that industry. Next best is NRMA for anyone to join. Worst at present is NIB. Whether it's worth joining is a tricky question - it depends on what your current needs are, and what might happen in the future. If you have good teeth with no holes, then you would only need cover for perhaps braces and wisdom teeth. Might be better just saving up the money after you consider the amount you would have to pay in (12 months qualifying period), and the amount of rebate you would get back. Or take out a loan if either of these treatments are necessary. If you've had lots of cavities, then you'll probably benefit from cover because you'll always have something that needs maintenance/repair. Similarly if you're a parent with kids and they might need treatment. The health funds only bundle dental with hospital because they make most of their profits from the hospital cover. The dental/chiropractic/sports/ ... cover is an add-on. Consider going to a dentist for a check-up and standard diagnostic Xrays (bitewings) plus an OPG Xray for wisdom teeth before you make a decision. Ask him/her their opinion.

Where can I find basic and cheap health insurance?

I am a 25 year old part time college student looking for very basic and cheap health insurance. I had prior insurance under my father's plan but was dropped when I turned 25. Legally I can elect COBRA continuation coverage but the monthly cost is above what I can afford. I am looking for cheap insurance that would cover doctor visits and prescriptions. I am not very knowledgeable about any of this; any advice would be greatly appreciated.
--------------------
sorry buddy, I do not believe there is such an animal. I think "cheap health insurance" is about as extinct as dinosaurs. Right now I am paying almost $1000 per month for a family of 5 (actually 4 because my employer supposedly pays mine). The worst part is that the stupid plan isn't worth crap. it just doesn't pay for stuff like I should. I mean d@mnit if I pay 12000/year, I would expect to be able to get something out of that plan, but there are so many loopholes and stuff that I end up paying that and a bunch on top of it. I could almost buy a car for that much money every year... Insurance companies are the biggest fraud ever passed unto the naive americans. Insurance companies are the DEVIL. We should get rid of all forms of insurance and promote personal responsibility. Yeah, like it used to be you know. You go to the doctor and pay for the services period. If doctors will have to deal directly with real people, they won't be able to charge the insane amounts they charge, because they'll have to look you in the eye. Only a couple of months ago I hurt myself with an axe. It really wasn't much. They had to do an xray and 6 stitches. and that cost me almost $800. HELLO? 6 freegin stitches and an xray should not cost that much.

When travelling to the US from the UK what is the diffeence between travel and health insurance?

Im unsure on whether travel insurance would cover any possible medical treatment i might need, or is that under health insurance. I cant find any basic information on which type of insurance covers me. Does travel insurance mean im only covered for travel and belongings or does it cover any emergency medical treatment i might need?
--------------------
Travel insurance will cover emergency medical treatment - illnesses or injuries that occur whilst you are in the USA. Health insurance is to pay the cost of non-urgent treatment that you decide to have.

Where can my boyfriend go to get an STD check if he has no health insurance?

I won't have sex with him until he does and he said he will, he just doesn't know where to go. On similar questions people have mentioned planned parenthood, well the closest one to where we live is an hour away. He doesn't have health insurance. And Is there any place he can get it done for free?
--------------------
You can go to www.hivtest.org and put in your zipcode. The will give you come locations that provide free HIV testing. When you call them ask about free STD testing. Your local health department should also do free testing. Good Luck and Koodos for you!!!

I dropped a class and only have 9 units now, will I still have health insurance?

I'm on my parents health insurance plan which is Anthem Blue Cross. I dropped the class September 16th thinking that I would be covered till 26 without being enrolled in full time units. But I read that the being covered till 26 just kicked in september 23rd. So will I still be covered by health insurance?
--------------------
Unless the insurance company finds out you dropped that class, you'll stay covered. You should have waited until Sept 24th to drop.

how do I get health insurance comproble to what my employer now provides without paying too much?

i will be on disability soon and will need health insurance for myself and my husband we are 61 and 62 years old. We will need good health coverage but prices and plans vary so much we would like to know how we can get decent coverage without paying 8 to 900.00 a month
--------------------
In most states, someone who is over 60 and going on disability cannot get health insurance without paying more than that. The only way that you could get insurance at the same prices as someone who is 23 and is not disabled would be to move to a state where everyone from age 19 to age 64 must be charged the same prices, by law, such as New York.

Do you think that people should be allowed to NOT buy health insurance?

I don't, becuase then we are forced to pay their emergency room visits (as we do not) via higher premiums for ourselves. So if we do allow them to not buy health insurance, then can we allow ER's to refuse them service if they can't pay? Sure, I think that's barbaric, but that's why i support forcing people to buy insurance.
--------------------
No, I believe ER's should be allowed to refuse service. As it is now, ER's receive patients with flu symptoms, rashes, possible STD's, medication refills, possible pregnancies and a whole host of other non-emergent conditions simply because the KNOW they ER is legally required to see them, and yes, WE have to foot that bill. Even if a $25 co-pay were implemented, it would put a dent in the frivolous use of ER's. Having forced insurance, which the taxpayers will end up paying for, will not solve that problem, it will exacerbate it. Those same people will feel even MORE entitled to pop into their local ER for a toothache.

How to get psychiatric services without health insurance?

I just recently lost my health insurance and have moved to a new city, Austin, TX. I only have two months of medication left and cannot go without it. Last time I tried I ended up in a psych ward. Are there slidding scale psych clinics in Austin that could be of help until I find new group coverage? Any helpful information at all would be great.
--------------------
In most major communities there are clinics that take people with or without health insurance. Often the best route to get psychiatric services is to go to the Emergency Room, or if your community has it, a Psychiatric Emergency Room. Most often your local medical society has this information or the information desk at your largest local hospital. Also of help would be a local crisis intervention phone line, most larger metro communities have one of those as well.

Could health care costs be kept down if people formed mutual health insurance companies?

A lot of insurance companies used to be mutual companies before their executives pushed to dumutualize. Blue Cross companies used to be "non-profit" before that was changed. I found someone's old hospital bills from the 1970's and was astounded at how low those bills were. Could the changes in health insurance companies have played a major role in the run up of health care costs?
--------------------
Yes, the changes in health insurance companies have played a major role in the run up of health care costs. Hospitals used to have clinics for those who didn't have insurance and people paid on a sliding scale according to income. As group insurance became available with some employers the clinics were forced out because the insurance would not cover clinic fees. That is a fact. Some people used the clinics even when they had insurance. It was cheaper and the quality was there!

How would tax deductions for health insurance help start up small businesses?

New business starting out are usually not making much of a profit, if any, in the beginning. If the Obama wants to give them a subsidy for health insurance for the entrepreneur/s and the employees, wouldn't that subsidy have to take a more direct form? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091003/ap_o…
--------------------
There are two ways in which health insurance reform would help small businesses. First, many people are unwilling to try to start a small business because that would mean giving up the only insurance they can get, which is through their job. If there were a public option they could buy into, it would be much more likely that they would try to start one in the first place. This option would also be available to their employees, relieving them of the burden of trying to provide it for them. If no public option is included in the reform, then things become much more difficult for the employers/employees. Even with a cooperative, the cost of providing insurance for all employees will probably be prohibitive for the first five years of a new company. So some kind of subsidy would be required. And just like with those who imply that a tax credit would enable individuals to buy insurance, it won't work for small businesses either. There would need to be a direct subsidy. This is how small businesspeople feel about health care reform. http://www.allbusiness.com/health-care/h…

Health insurance in Massachusetts seems to be very expensive...which is the cheapest insurance in ma?

I am planning to get pregnant..Actually i have health insurance covered by my husband's work but it will not cover pregnancy..
--------------------
You will be hard pressed to find "cheap health" insurance when you already have health insurance, but you can try CHP, Child health Care Plus, it is available for people based on their income and need. Also, if you are going by the handbook your husband got from insurance company don't. Call them and ask. You may also be able to find a place that will give you a discount based on your ability to pay. Call the county office where you live and ask them what you options have (after you confirm with current insurance company).

Who will my health insurance company call?

Can I explain to the insurance people that i'll be back as a full time student next semester? I feel terrible and Im not sure what to do about this.

Are any of the health insurance companies on-line good?

I am 26 Years old and I don't have health insurance. I was looking online and saw that there a alot of health insurance plans you can buy online. I was thinking about doing this but I wasn't sure how safe and legitamet it was. So if there is anyone who has had experiences good or bad please help me out.
--------------------
Depending on where you reside there are several options that are very good. And some of these you can purchase on line. mbrcatz17 is being a little over cautous in this case. We have several carriers that are on our website that you can purchase on line - and they are legit. A good rule of thumb is to stay with the bigger named carriers like: Blue Cross, Wellpoint, United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana etc. Dont fall for the no-name company's. Most of the above carriers offer the ability for you to purchase on line, directly through the carrier website - or through the agent/brokers website. When people purchase insurance through our website with out contacting us it really bothers me. The reason is there are so many options availble and so many differences between the plans that it always helps to use a local agent/broker that has knowledge and understanding of the plans that are in your area. Hope this helps!

No health insurance & looking to see a psychiatrist?

I have tried looking it up on my own to no avail. I do not have health insurance but feel like I need to get a little help stabilizing my moods. Websites would help. I live in the Houston, TX area.
--------------------
I agree it is very difficult to find free counseling on the web for your area. Besides trying churches in your area, I have one additional recommendation that you could try. NAMI is the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. They have the best resources, support and information available anywhere in the US. If you go to the links I have provided and click on Resources, you will be able to review what sources available in your area. The first link is to NAMI in metropolitan Houston. The second link is to NAMI in West Houston. The third link is a direct link to the Mental Health Association of Greater Houston. They should have the information about all the providers in the area and whether or not any of them are free. NAMI might be able to advocate to get you some free counseling or send you in the right direction if you are unable to get some so don't rule them out if you really need help. Good Luck!
