Where can I search for health insurance that's right for me?

I'm looking for affordable health insurance. Is there a website where I can compare rates and benefits of different health insurance providers side by side?
--------------------
What do you consider affordable? I have clients who think their $1000 per month policy is affordable and others who complain about paying $100 per month. Do not try to do this over the internet. It'll take you several days to intelligently compare all the plans available. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy, cause you to be declined, or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process. You should visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can help you find the best plan for your situation and budget, usually in just a few minutes. There is no extra charge using an agent. Be aware that with health insurance you get what you pay for. How smart is it to save $30 per month if you have a hospital charge of $100,000 sometime in the future.

Has your health insurance costs recently gone up?

My health insurance just went up while they are cutting benefits. Or is it just because I am a conservative, they went up. Wait a minute I have a Union job, Obama was to save me, right?
--------------------
Yes everyone's went up. Obamacare did not make them go down, Now the dems are saying that at least they did not go up as much as they would have... just more spin

Exactly when will I be covered for health insurance?

I just recently bought health insurance and I am soon to be covered end of this month (december). So, I made an appointment next month (january) for my pap smear. I'm just a little confused about the deductible and coverage rules. Even though I just got my insurance should I be covered for my appt. or will I be covered after I pay the deductible. PLEASE enlighten me. Thanks
--------------------
You need to ask your insurance company. It depends on their policies.

Question on health insurance premium deductibility?

Would health insurance premiums still be deductible as a medical expense if they are paid with pre-tax dollars under a section 125 plan?
--------------------
Of course not! You already got a deduction through the Sec 125 plan. Double-dipping is NOT allowed!

Free national health insurance: Can doctors still be in private practice, outside the government system?

In England, Canada, etc., what happens if a doctor refuses to see government patients? Does he lose his license? Or are doctors forced to work for the national health system, as government employees? If a patient could afford to pay the fees of a private doctor, I'm wondering if there would be any in private practice and therefore whether the patient would have that choice. I would love to hear how these matters are handled in any country with nationalized medicine, and hear from patients, whether satisfied or dissatisfied. Also I'd like to know if a patient can still buy his own health insurance--that is, whether it's available. Or does nationalized medicine wipe out that part of the insurance industry? Thanks.
--------------------
I don't know about England or etc. but in Canada it is mandatory that all doctors work for the state. In fact it is a crime to have private health insurance or see a doctor outside the system. Currently the single largest group of criminals is the health care professionals. They know the true condition of a system that has an average wait of 16 to 18 weeks to see a specialist and maybe years of waiting for surgery. People in Canada with money routinely come to the US for heath care. That is anything beyond 2 aspirins. A friend in Seattle tells me you can't hope to see a doctor on Monday mornings unless you are willing to get in line behind a large group of Canadians. When I look at my family (extended) I believe that every one of them over 60 would be dead if we lived in Canada. My Mother-in-Law received open heart surgery in the US in less than 36 hours after seeing her primary physician. Mom would have died waiting to see a specialist in Canada. When she saw her primary her life expectancy was literally being measured in hours. I'm not yet 60 myself, just getting close, but I was diagnosed with diabetes a number of years ago. Under socialized medicine I would probably be dead too as I have developed a couple of infections that were potentially lethal and a wait to see a specialist would have probably seen the specialist coming to the funeral to check me out. I'm not a supporter of Socialized Medicine but I will bet the farm we are going to get it and if you are anywhere near 60 or if you have a serious illness I suggest you get your estate in order because the system will kill millions of older people. BTW, those are the same people who have worked their with the plan of taking care of themselsves. Now that idea is null and void and they will be expected to take care of 12 million illegals and those who won't care for themselves. EDIT: Did you know that Cuba has this system and when Castro got sick they brought in a Doctor from Spain. That should tell everyone something.

I have a question about Cigna Health Insurance.?

I recently changed my job and my new employer provides Cigna health insurance. I've always had Aetna and could find doctors easily. However, it doesn't seem as though my dermatologist takes Cigna which is weird because she takes every other kind of health coverage. Is Cigna a bad health insurance company with limited choices of doctors who are in their network?
--------------------
Cigna is no better or no worse than Aetna or any other company but it can depend upon the plan your employer has and your location. In many places Cigna has their own network. In other places the doctors have an option to accept the Cigna network, or any other network. Ask your dermatologist if they'd consider accepting Cigna. If not find one that does or pay the charges out of pocket.

Can I have personal health insurance policies?

I am working in a privet company. Do group health insurance plans provide for covering costs of personal health insurance? What is the discount of health insurance plan for self employed?
--------------------
As long as you keep asking these vague questions, you'll never get intelligent responses.

If you are a college student on your parents health insurance is it possible if you are living at a friends to?

loose the health insurance if you are not living at home?
--------------------
Your unhappy parent can take you off the insurance, regardless of where you live. The insurance company will not remove you merely because you are not living at home. You will be removed if you exceed a certain age, cease to be a full time student, cease to be a dependent of your parent.

how will health insurance brokers be affected by healthcare reform?

will health insurance brokers still have a job?
--------------------
Yes. I'd expect they won't be affected much, except they'll see slightly more activity. 85% of the people here in the USA already HAVE insurance, and most of the people that don't have it, either can't afford it, or aren't here legally and can't buy it anyway.

From what I understand Obama is trying to force us to carry health insurance?

The way we currently have to carry liability insurance on our vehicles. So if I don't carry insurance are they going to fine me and if I can't afford to pay the fine are they going to throw me in jail? That's sort of funny: "hey what are you in for?" "I don't have health insurance"
--------------------
He wants to destroy the middle class.

Seriously, why arent the Dems open to the idea of opening up health insurance across state lines?

Its been proven to work with auto insurance (huge difference) Why not do this for health care??
--------------------
They're not. Did you miss the part about removing insurance companies anti-trust exemption?

If taxes pay for your health insurance, do voters get to decide a person's lifestyle?

If the US, or any nation, had universal healthcare would the persons on this insurance get to do whatever activities they wished? Would taxpayers allow a person with universal healthcare to smoke? They would be creating costs... Would taxpayers allow a person to eat fatty foods? Again, creating costs... The list of unhealthy activities goes on and on. If people cannot afford health coverage would their life be decided by the voters who are paying for their healthcare?
--------------------
It's simple. Institute universal healthcare and invest in preventative medicine and education. Then tax severly unhealthy things like alcohol, tobacco sugar and saturated fats. It adds up.

When will my health insurance run out?

The last day of my current job is Jan 22nd. I am getting married at the beginning of March and want to be sure I have coverage until I can be added to my husband's insurance. So, my question is: Will my Aetna health insurance last for 30 days from the last day I work? Or does it terminate at some other time?
--------------------
No, it won't last 30 days. How exactly long it lasts, depends on how your employer originally set it up. Normally, it's either goin to be until Jan 23rd, or Jan 31st. What you CAN do, is take COBRA coverage if it's offered. Or, the sneakier way - don't REJECT the COBRA coverage - but hang onto the paperwork. You have 60 days to accept or decline. Then, if something goes wrong, you accept it, and send in your money, and get your retroactive coverage. And if something doesn't go wrong, you don't pay for the insurance, and just get added to hubby's.

Does Obama have Blue Cross health insurance for himself?

Does anyone know what kind of health insurance President Obama have for himself and his family? Is it Federal Blue Cross?
--------------------
Of course not! The president, members of Congress and the Senate, and all their families, have a "Cadillac Plan" where everything is covered, no copays, no deductibles, all at the taxpayers expense.

how much might health insurance cost per year for a healthy 22-year-old?

Need to start buying my own health insurance, because I have some health concerns that i need taken care of ASAP. But overall, I am a healthy person.
--------------------
Depends on where you live, and what coverages you want! For a good, low/no deductible health insurance plan, NO maternity coverage, in a state like Pennsylvania, with you in perfect health and not over or underweight, you can expect to pay about $250 a month. Keep in mind, the "health concerns" could be preexisting conditions, even if they haven't been diagnosed, and might not be covered. And UNDIAGNOSED symptoms are usually a reason for automatically rejecting your application.

Where can I find cheap health insurance?

My wife is epileptic and health insurance is difficult to find for her due to her "pre-existing condition" anyone know what I can find.?
--------------------
Don't waste your time. Cheap insurance means lower benefits. You should get a job where you have employer coverage.

Wanted to know about the Health Insurance for Aged people.?

Hi could you please guide me for the best health insurance (mediclaim) for my parents aged 58 and 48 in India. Please suugest the service provider with pros and cons.
--------------------
As a health insurance broker, I recommend calling an independent agency in your parents local area. For your parent aged 58, AARP can guide you to some reputable suggestions. Don't buy anything online and always have a real person that is local to help you out. At age 65, of course, there are medicare supplements available (unless your parents on disability then they have are eligible for Medicare now). Any plan that is purchased on an individual basis is quite $$$$ perhaps a plan that only pays for major medical (hospitalization) would be the answer. This way, your parents can pay out of pocket for doctors visits etc but not have to worry in the event of something major. Ask your local insurance broker about a plan thru "Golden Rule". They are a great company for individual major medical. good luck!

I am 14 weeks pregnant and just moved to California and found out that my Aetna health insurance doesn't cover?

My insurance doesn't cover pregnancy for individual plans. I have too much money to be covered by medi-cal and Aim requires at least 6 months of residency to be covered. I can afford health care but no one will cover me now. Do I have any other options?
--------------------
Most OB's and hospitals have discounted rates for prenatal care and delivery. Call your OB and the hospital you will be delivering at and ask. Best to check early since some may require that the fees be paid prior to or at delivery. You will also need to ask about the cost of the well baby check (and if a male baby, circumcision) done by the pediatrician in the hospital and the cost of an epidural. Your other option is to get a job with group coverage. Pregnancy cannot be considered preexisting with a group coverage.

My girlfriend doesnt have health insurance and she needs to get on birth control. how can i get it?

Where can i go to get birth control tomorrow to get her started on it so that in a month i can get her on health insurance. and what health insurance will cover birth control. thank you!
--------------------
Local health departments and Planned Parenthood's provide birth control for little to nothing for people who are uninsured. Just call and set up an appointment it usually takes around a month or so somtimes depending on how busy they are. Other then that get ya some condoms!

How can these people not afford health insurance?!?!?

I meet a lot of families in my new job and many will go on and on about how the gov't needs to offer health insurance for people like them because it's too expensive. And the kids are on medicaid. Then they will admit that the dad smokes two packs of cigarettes a day and the mom smokes 1 pack. Aren't cigarettes like $4-5 a pack? So that's like up to $450 a month! I know insurance can be more than that for a family, but HOLY COW!!!!
--------------------
Just goes to show that people are lazy and they want the govt to take care of them. Govt take over is an inventive to not work!

Where should I look for personal health insurance?

I recently lost my job due to cutbacks, so my benefits at work have ended. I am single so it is just me, and no major health problems, but I don't want to be without any insurance. Especially at age 47. COBRA seems awfully expensive, I was just wondering where a good place is to look for insurance until I find a new job. I am in Indiana BTW
--------------------
You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is much more to health insurance than price. Some might even suggest a discount plan which is not insurance at all. Ultimately, you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care with your insurance company. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles and low copays your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand if you are reasonably healthy and use the health care system infrequently you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe which will result in a relatively low monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit and still come out ahead. You might also consider a temporary health insurance policy if you anticipate getting another job with benefits. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation. They can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and copays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

I'm interviewing for a job with low hrly wage. Can I ask for higher wage by declining their health insurance?

My partner has good health insurance that covers both of us - so I don't need theirs. The hourly wage for the position I am interviewing for is $11 per hour. My interview is tomorrow and I appreciate any insight!
--------------------
Some companies will give you some extra money per paycheck if you decline their insurance. It's usually not that much though. My employer used to give an extra $20 a paycheck if you didn't have their insurance. But, this year they changed it so that they will apply the $20 to any other out-of-pocket benefit (like dental or vision) and anything that's left over gets put into a flexible spending account for medical expenses- which can ONLY be spent on medical stuff. So we no longer get to keep the cash. That's just my company, other companies may be different. And in this economic climate, $11 an hour ain't bad!
