Is it mandatory at Univerisites that you have to have health insurance to go to the school or have a dorm?

Is this true or not ? what if the student has state health insurance rather than private insurance like kaiser ?
--------------------
Most schools do require that you have health insurance, but if you are not covered by private insurance or state health insurance, you can typically sign up for health insurance through the school's plan.

I don't have health insurance and i wanted to know what kind of plan is the best for me.?

I have a pre-existing conditions namely, palpitation, not yet diagnosed General Anxiety Disorder and Hypothyroidism. High BP, Heart problems and Diabetes runs in my family. I really need health insurance, but i just don't know which one to find, what kind or anything. PLEASE HELP ME! I looked through einsurance.com, but i need some more help.
--------------------
Depending on what state you live in you may not be accepted because of all of your health problems. If you are accepted you will likely pay very high premiums or all or some of your pre-existing conditions will be excluded. The general rule with individual health insurance is that the you must get a clean bill of health for each pre-existing and be treatment free for one year before the coverage will apply to said condition. If you get a job that offers health insurance than they must offer it to you. There still may be a waiting period for treatment, but it would not require you to get a clean bill of health first. Feel free to contact me for a list of the states that require health insurance be made available to all residents.

What if health insurance companies were allowed to sell across state lines?

My friend who is an MBA said that if this were implemented, all the insurance companies would just move to South Dakota, because they have the weakest laws, and then they would be able to sell insurance to everyone and ignore all the other states' laws. Is that true?
--------------------
No, they would still be subject to state laws. But it would not stop them excluding preexisting conditions nor the use of death panels to deny cover to those they are meant to cover. FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [1] FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [2] FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [3] FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [4] FACT - Obama was elected by the American people to bring in change [5] FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies from screwing America [6] FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and Switzerland [7] Let me know if my facts are wrong, but please provide proof.

Cosmetic treatments covered by health insurance?

I am looking for health insurance but I want to know if health insurance covers cosmetic surgeries.
--------------------
The only time cosmetic surgery is covered, is if it's restorative - example - you have breast cancer, and one breast is removed, it will pay for an implant.

Can somebody tell me the name of the health insurance?

where I can get a decent health insurance (no more than $10 copay please, no huge deductible, dental plan with at least 70% coverage) for $2500 a year? Can I call McCain's campaign to find out?
--------------------
I believe it is the insurance plan that Senators have. The one Obama wants to open to all Americans.

Can you give me some names of reliable health insurance companies?

I need a health insurance policy for my child.
--------------------
Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Blue Cross. None of which, thanks to the health reform act, are writing "child only" health insurance policies. You'll have to buy a family policy, to get your child covered.

Affordable and good quality health insurance in CA? Any thoughts?

Anyhow, I just lost my job and the Cobra option is way too expensive (over 500 dollars/month). I'm currently unemployed and so is my wife, and I'm looking for affordable, yet quality health insurance. Anyone have some suggestions? Thanks for your help.
--------------------
Most insurance companies will not write an individual policy on you if you're unemployed. The reason for this is because they assume you will be searching for employment and could soon get a job that has health benefits. It takes the insurance company 5 or 6 months to recoup the money they spend writing a policy if you don't use the insurance, longer if you do. You can get a short term medical policy for a reasonable premium. This type of policy doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a permanent policy but will cover you in case something catastrophic happens. Visit a local independent agent to see what is available in your area. The agent will have access to all the major plans and can explain the coverage of the policy.

I need to get my tonsils removed but I have not health insurance?

My tonsils are killing me. It hurts to do pretty much everything. I want to get them removed but there is only one problem. I have no health insurance and neither do my parents. Can anyone offer some advice on how to go about getting them removed. I looked up the average price of a surgery and it runs about $3000. I don't have that kinda of money just lying around. Please help!!!
--------------------
Check into public hospitals. This happened to my cousin, with no insurance, and he got his out with no fee whatsoever. He did have to wait a few months, but it worked. Public hospitals here have health plans for people with no insurance. Once you qualify, you don't pay anything, except for prescriptions, nothing for procedures or office visits. Also find out if the county where you live has some kind of assistance. Sometimes teaching hospitals will help also. Care Credit is a credit card company for health needs.

How has your experience been with Blue Cross Blue Sheild Individual Health Insurance?

My current employer does not offer Health Insurance so I'm looking at different companies
--------------------
I have BCBS individual coverage. Like any health insurance contract you need to understand what is and is not covered. Once you understand that you can balance the two sides of the equation, Cost vs. Policy Benefits. The BCBS policy does not include the "bells and whistles" which makes it more affordable.

I was in an auto accident and now have medical bills. My health insurance paid them but doesn't the auto pay?

I have copies of explanation of benefits where my health insurance paid my medical bills from an auto accident. I live in the state of Missouri. Doesn't the auto insurance company still suppose to pay you the full amount of the bills?
--------------------
The health insurance company can "go after" your auto insurance company for reimbursement of any bills that they paid, if you purchased PIP or Medical payments coverage, up to your auto policy limit. YOU can't collect under both policies. Collecting under your HEALTH insurance automatically assigns them the right of "subrogation" - going after the other policy (either yours or the guy that caused the accident) for reimbursement.

People talk about immigrants getting free health insurance, how can I a low income citizen get some info?

I am a low income citizen and I have always payed cash to go to the doctor. I am making as much as a person can in my field without going to college, but my job does not offer health insurance. How can I get information on free health visits. The last time I called the local health department they said they only help out with parenthood stuff. Besides needing some good pain killers for cramps that I cant afford because my tubes are tied. Especially what my doctor prescribed to me, how can I get more info. on all this free stuff. I live in Columbia SC.
--------------------
You aren't going to get free painkillers, that's for sure. It's based on your income. If you make too much money to qualify for your county's department of social services free clinic, then you have to pay out of pocket like a lot of people do. You have to contact them and find out.

(2 pts) A random sample of 2000 workers in a particular city found 1000 workers who had full health insurance?

(2 pts) A random sample of 2000 workers in a particular city found 1000 workers who had full health insurance coverage. Find a 95% confidence interval for the true percent of workers in this city who have full health insurance coverage.
--------------------
ANSWER: 95% Resulting Confidence Interval for 'true mean': = [0.478, 0.522] Why??? POPULATION PROPORTION, CONFIDENCE INTERVAL, NORMAL DISTRIBUTION n = Number of samples 2000 Number of Successes 1000 p = POPULATION PROPORTION 0.5 significant digits 3 Confidence Level 95 "Look-up" Table 'z-critical value' 1.960 from Excel function: NORMSINV(probability) Returns the inverse of the standard normal cumulative distribution. The distribution has a mean of zero, a standard deviation of one and is symmetrical. 95% Resulting Confidence Interval for 'true mean': p +/- (z critical value) * SQRT[p * (1 - p)/n] = 0.5 +/- 1.96 * SQRT[0.5 * (1 - 0.5)/2000] = [0.478, 0.522]

can you suggest a good, affordable health insurance plan?

I am an adjunct instructor at two colleges in Michigan. Neither institution offers health insurance for adjunct instructors. For the last three years I have been getting health Insurance through a postdoctoral fellowship. Now this fellowship has come to an end, and I am in desperate straits. I have heart problems and I need specials medicationss for depression and attention deficit disorder. What do I do?
--------------------
No one can suggest a good, affordable health insurnace plan for someone with heart problems, depression, ADD, and two jobs. There are government-funded programs that are free or affordable, but you make too much to qualify. There are affordable programs that insurance companies sell voluntarily, but they will refuse to sell you one because you have heart problems, depression, ADD, and two jobs. Therefore, you will have to get unaffordable guaranteed-issue coverage, such as a HIPAA plan or insurance from a managed risk pool.

If you don't want to buy health insurance and you pay the Gov. fine does that make you insured?

Obama states that it will be mandatory that everyone buys health insurance. This would be approx. $350 a month/$4200 a year. From what I've read, and I could be mistaken, the penalty for not buying the insurance would be $750. So if you pay the penalty does that mean that you are now insured?
--------------------
And liberals say we aren't being forced into this... LOL!

You will pay for Sex offender's health insurance if passed, did you know that?

Majority of sex offenders who raped children couldn't find job and they don't have health insurance. If the bill passed, they will be covered. Do you want their health get better to rape children again? Better think about who they are covering. Their are so many sex offenders in this country and they are in that number uninsured.
--------------------
Along with all those others who can not get insurance. Like type one diabetics, those with juvenile onset arthritis and the like. I guess in order to stop paedophiles getting healthcare, we should accept that loads of others will get screwed as well. I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it? Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2]. Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4,5]. FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [6]. FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [7]. That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage. If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

Do I have to make a national health insurance card if I am living in the UK and travelling to Belgium in a school trip?

Yes, you should take one. It gives you access to their health system as the UK has a reciprocal agreement with them. It doesn't cover everything (so you should still have travel insurance) but it will give you emergency treatment. You can get one here - https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/home.do
