Does anyone recomend a short-term health insurance plan company?

I'm looking for a monthly premium of about $300 for a healthy family of four with a reasonable deductible.
--------------------
I have links to six different companies on my site. I DON'T recommend short term when there is no 'regular' coverage forthcoming. Short-term should only fill a gap. So, use it when you get a new job and coverage doesn't start for ~90 days or when you're applying for a regular plan and just waiting for it to go through. Also, DON'T get a short term plan after you lose your job 'anticipating' you're going to find a job and one with coverage. A common mistake that people make anyway is putting the whole family on a group plan when the employer is only covering the employee. In that case you'd buy coverage for the rest of the family on your own since it'd be cheaper.

After the Health Care Reform conference yesterday, I have to ask: Do You Have Health Insurance?

Some of the posts I read yesterday, really tugged at my heart.
--------------------
no i don't. would like some. guess i'm too lazy like the Republicans say. even though i work and pay taxes. i just don't have the $60 a week to pay for it because i needed a car and a cellphone to work. I'm sure they will tell me my comcast and A/C is living above my means. or is it the dinner that I'm supposed to skip. it's tough when rent is 600 a month plus bills. insurance is $200 because of one ticket i got two years ago. no insurance companies aren't evil they are just greedy.

Is there a way to get health insurance quotes?

without being grilled for lots of PRIVATE information??
--------------------
I have a quoting tool that I use that doesn't require personal information. I'd provide you a direct link, but Yahoo Answers is not fond of that. Most of the ones requiring tons of info are just selling the info.

Health Insurance for Recent College Grad?

I just graduated from college, and my school health insurance has expired. I'm not working, and back to live with my parents. My mom refuses to add me to her insurance plan (Aetna). She is saying that I'm over 21, that's why she can't add me, but my dad who's 65, and also working, and is eligible for Medicare, is on her plan, along with my 13 year old brother. What can I do to make her add me? I really need health insurance.
--------------------
First you need to understand it's not your mom that is refusing, it's the health insurance plan. Every health insurance plan has rules as to what family members qualify. Spouse and children 18 and younger can be covered, but once you turn 18 you have to be in college FT for it to cover you and in most cases if your in college FT it will only cover you to the age of 21. So since you are 21 and out of school the insurance will not cover you, even if you are living at home and have no insurance, this is just how it is otherwise everyone could be covered under a family plan forever, which would make health insurance through an employer too expensive for people to carry. Since you are an adult, and finished w/college you need to look for a job that offers benefits, in the mean time you can check out your state medicaid coverage and see if you qualify. Your not alone in this everyone who grows up and turns 18 has to find their own health insurance coverage, or if they go to college FT they can have it until they are 21, then your own. Don't mean to sound harsh but your an adult and your parents can't provide everything for you forever, even if they wanted to this is the rules of health insurance plans. So find a job w/health insurance, in the meantime see if you can enroll for medicaid (state health insurance coverage). It's tough, but this is life. Best of luck! HR Manager

Does Teacher's health insurance pay for giving birth?

My sister is thinking about becoming a teacher. I asked her some of the reasons why she wants to do it. One of her biggies were the supposed great benefits and one of them being awesome health coverage. That made me think of what is a major hospital bill she will end up paying and I thought of pregnancy bill. Is this teacher's health insurance that awesome that it will pay for those types of bills? Thanks.
--------------------
No one here can possibly know. It depends on the specific group plan she's covered under.

What should I do about this Braces issue? My mother can't afford braces + health insurance doesn't cover it.

I live in a single parent household and money is a major issue. The reason I seek braces is because my teeth have major gaps and a smile is half your looks, and I limit my smiling because it looks monstrous...
--------------------
When my husband was a kid his family couldn't afford braces so he got a paper route to pay for it himself. (15 years later he is about to graduate from his orthodontic residency and be an orthodontist himself.) Maybe since these are so important to you, you could get a part time job to at least help pay for them or pay for all of it, maybe your mom can pay half. I'm assuming you're not that young based on your post. Also, if you live close to a dental school with an ortho residency you can get it done for less money there.

If this is about Health Care why did Health Insurance and Drug stocks go crazy?

After the Dems said they had the votes? Don't believe me check the stocks...
--------------------
Not only that ; but the liberals claim that this bill must pass because 45,000 people die each year because of lack of health insurance ! If that is true , then why will the liberals let another 45,000 die each year for 4 years before this bogus bill even takes effect in its` coverage in 2014 ? That`s another 180,000 deaths even after the hoax passes before the liberals start saving anyone !! Of course the 45,000 figure is "donkey dung" anyway , because there are no facts to back this claim up !

why is this stupid government trying to mandate me into buying Health Insurance?

What if I dont want it or dont need it!!! Why is this crap government telling me what to do!!! I m getting sick of it!!!
--------------------
Why does the government force your kids to go to school? Shouldn't that be your choice since you are responsible for them? After all, there are killings and assault in school. Why does the government force you to pay taxes period, shouldn't that be your choice?

How to look for health insurance?

I have a new job but they don't offer any benefits, medicial, vision, dental... how should I go about looking for an insurance company / ploicy to pay for myself? I am a single 24 year old woman with no children. I do have glasses. Thanks
--------------------
You can search online, but the best option is to find a local, independent insurance agent who has access to many carriers in your area. There are many options that suit a variety of people. A local agent will help you determine which is best to fit your needs.

Will illegal immigrants be required to buy health insurance under Hillary's plan?

Or will I still be forced to pay for their care through increased costs used to cover their unpaid emergency room bills?
--------------------
I'm sure you'll still be burdened with paying for them seperately, since they are still illegals. Maybe she'll set up a seperate fund just to buy them healthcare with our tax dollars.

Can you donate blood without health insurance?

I have donated blood for the last two years that I have been eligible to do it whenever the whole 'circus' came to my college campus. I am now at serious risk of losing my insurance, at the point of it almost being a sure thing - now, I know they probably won't need it to draw the blood, but if, for some crazy reason, something goes wrong, will I potentially die because I was donating blood? Sorry if it sounds crazy, just a little paranoid...
--------------------
In all reality, you would only die from donating blood if they took way too much, or if the needles weren't sterilized and you got a disease. And if by some odd chance something happened that you would be in dire need of medical care, the donation center, red cross or whatever would probably pay for the medical care if the blood draw had anything to do with it. That and there are usually doctors at hand in case something more than someone just passing out goes wrong.

Is Health Insurance really worth it, if you can't afford the deductible?

I have BCBS TX and it is $200 a month with a $10,000 deductible. It pays for everything else though, like if I go to the Dr. it is a $25 copay and they also pay for any lab and ex rays and any kind of preventative care like my yearly pap and immunizations. I am 26 and go to the Dr. maybe 3 times a year. What do you all think? Should I save the $200 a month, or keep it?

Best health insurance for bariatric surgery?

I live in Florida and am trying to have bariatric surgery. What company's will pay for the surgery in Florida?
--------------------
Approvals for bariatric surgery are usually on an as-needed basis. I dont think anyone can provide you a list of guaranteed approval companies. I personally had mine covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Also, try www.obesityhelp.net for a great forum with lots of guidance for all aspects of the surgery. Insurance, health, etc.

If you had to choose between losing your health insurance or losing your house, which would you pick?

And why?
--------------------
Insurance! But that's an unfair question as I lost my insurance about four years ago, due to losing my job because of a condition which prevented my working at the time! I've not had a position since that had a health care plan! So, as long as I have a roof over my head, I'll figure out the health thing as needed!

Where do I look for health insurance after Heart Surgery? Dropped by current provider..?

After having a valve replaced last fall my insurance opted not to renew my policy. I am 63 and currently have a "short term" policy that only can be renewed once and then I am out of luck. Where can I look for coverage? I'd take something even if it excluded my prior condition even though I am now much healtier than I was before the surgery.
--------------------
Your state should have a program for such things. In california it is called Major Risk Medical Insurance Program. The purpose of this is to cover people that insurance companies consider too high risck to cover. You cannot be denied coverage based on a pre-existing condition. I do not kow what state you are in, but you should look into this. You do have to provide a letter proving that you have been denied or dropped by your insurance company.

How To select Health Insurance?

What are the criteria to select the best health insurance for a family at a best price (we live in Florida) and work independently
--------------------
You need to understand the following: Total annual out-of-pocket. The higher the deductable the lower the monthly premiums. Ask about the inside limits on benefits. Finally the life time maximum of the policy. (at least $2mm but don't pay for any higher because it is unlikely that anyone would live beyond that amount.) Remember that health insurance is about financial protection. You need to understand how much self insurance you can stand. Call an agent and look into an HSA product.

Whatever the statute for the state or county for insurance fraud, which that is. Straight up. The insurance companies will take over, to recover their own money, if they find out.

You can still get Medicare hospital insurance (Part A) by paying a monthly premium if you are a citizen or a lawfully admitted alien who has lived in the U.S. for at least five years. Also, anyone who is age 65 and a citizen or a lawfully admitted alien with five years of residency in the United States can sign up for Medicare Part B medical insurance and pay a monthly premium. http://questions.medicare.gov/cgi-bin/me…

Will our new government issued health insurance card be the Real I.D.?

I have this weird feeling that they'll use this health insurance mandate as a way to forcing all of us to have an insurance card that will work exactly like the Real I.D. card they tried to pass... It could possibly even be an RFID card. What do you guys think?

Go to your county's Public Health Dept. They have programs for women who are pregnant. They are either low cost or no cost programs. Do get to a Dr. soon. Take prenatals and another supplementr called DHA by Lipil. Wal Mart brand prenatals are fine. Congrats!

What's wrong with being your Brother's Keeper,as the Bible advises? That means health insurance that covers the?

poorest of us. Paying an insurance company is the same as paying taxes, except that with the latter, you can be sure your brother will be covered and won't be treated like a charity case. Are you your Brother's Keeper, or a hypocritical Christian or other
--------------------
Government putting a gun to my head, taking my money and winnowing it through a behemoth bureaucracy to provide a piss-poor service at exponentially more than is needed is not my idea of being my "brother's keeper". I contribute to my Catholic Charities, thank you.
