How can I effectively appeal a denied health insurance claim?

I have a series of claims ...for chiropractic treatment that has been denied....how can I get these appealed successfully?
--------------------
The state where I live mandates that chiropractors are a covered provider. Lot's of states don't have that mandate. Before you go through lots of trouble appealing the denial of claims, make sure that your policy covers such treatment. The first step is with the insurance company. Step two is with your states insurance commissioners office. Good luck Don http://mtnhealthinsurance.com

Becoming a life and health insurance agent?

I am thinking about getting into insurance selling business. I live in the state of michigan I also have alot of questions such as: after I get my license and start working what can I expect? Is it competitive like the Real estate business? Is it strictly commision based? I am 21 female with a very friendly, easy going personality. Will that be a good or bad contribution to the job? Does the money usually make all your effors worth it? The company I contacted told me to call kaplan financial to get licensed. Kaplan said that I would need to pay around 200 something to take the classes. I am a little apprehensive, because I see alot of places that are capitalizing on the desperate need of people to find jobs. I cant think of anything more at the moment but if there is anything that a working professional can tell me more about this field I would really appreciate it. I also plan on getting my notary and real estate as well as loan agent license after this.

Check out other answers on this topic from the past. It's a great business if you make it, but very few make it. Good luck

What is the constitutional authority by whichthe federal government would offer health insurance . . . ?

to its citizens. I know it insures employees, but that's when the government acts as an employer. Where is the constitutional authority for providing health coverage? And yes, the question could apply to Medicare also. Is this a state function, if a government function at all?
--------------------
it doesnt! Your own life, liberty and happiness is what YOU can make of it!

Can you really be dropped from your health insurance even if you pay your premiums?

If so, what are the reasons?
--------------------
No. You cannot be canceled, and you cannot be singled out for a rate increase based on claims experience. Laws vary some state to state, but the only reasons your policy can be canceled or rescinded are: non payment of premium, moving out of the coverage area, and fraud. See link below to a typical state regulation. Don http://mtnhealthinsurance.com

Does anyone have any experiences using Bupa International Health Insurance?

Is it truly international and do hospitals in the U.S. recognize it? Also, wondering if there is any other international health plans out there to replace my Blue Cross Blue Shield.
--------------------
Afraid previous answers may be well intentioned, but they are incorrect/misleading The British United Provident Association (BUPA) International scheme is NOT a reimbursement scheme it is direct settlement (i.e. they pay the hospital etc NOT you). Checking with your local commissioner probably won't tell you very much either since it works on the basis of reciprocal direct settlement arrangements with Healthcare providers and insurers throughout the world, so it probably won't appear on any 'state list'. In the UK you'd have access not only to BUPA hospitals (which are excellent), but also other independent 'private' hospitals on a direct settlement insurance basis. For healthcare outside of the UK, BUPA either have a network of local hospitals with which they have direct billing arrangements (e.g. Australia) or they have an arrangement with a local company. For the US this is United Healthcare (UHC) so it is THAT name which will appear on any commissioners list , NOT BUPA. If you need treatment in the US, you get it the same way as if your cover was with UHC… i.e. on a direct settlement basis. I have no idea how good UHC are, as I was fortunate enough not to need medical attention while I was working in the US and in fact to be honest I've not had that much call to use it anywhere, but I've never had any problems with the BUPA International scheme when I did. My BUPA cover is employment related so I don't get much choice in which company gets used, but I wouldn't change if I did. Oh and it covers 180 countries so yes it is fairly international ! Details of healthcare providers in the UHC network can be found at; www.myuhc.com

How much should a healthy twenty-year old female pay for health insurance?

How about we throw the Republicans in jail for not getting Health Insurance?

Sounds like a good idea to me.
--------------------
We have health insurance and if you bleeding heart liberals want to cover those who do not have health insurance or cannot afford it, why not help those people out without messing up the health insurance of the majority who are satisfied with. Obama would spend less by doing so and take the rest of the money and prosecute those who abuse Medicare with fraud. Go after health insurances who only want to satisfy their stock holders and reward their CEOs with millions and millions of bonuses.

Does anyone know if washington allows partners or fiances to be on their significant others health insurance?

Or is it a state that requires you to be married?
--------------------
OK, the state ALLOWS it, but doesn't REQUIRE it. So you have to ask your employer if they will allow it. 99% of the time, the employer will NOT allow it, and 100% of the time a private policy will not allow it. If you want marital rights, like being on health insurance, then you need to take on the marital responsibilities. Go get married.

can i still use my parents health insurance if i'm married and under 18 years old?

I'm17 and I want to stay on my parent's health insurance after i get married
--------------------
Getting married means you consider yourself an adult who's able to stand on their own feet and be in charge of their own life. So no more sponging off your parents. If you want to be a kid a while longer (and I strongly suggest that you do), forget about getting married until you're much older and more mature.

Should members of Congress have the same crappy health insurance / wages / lifestyles that most Americans do?

Since they are representatvives, shouldn't they truly represent their constitutents in all aspects including wages, insurance, and lifestyle that the average person in their particular district have to cope with?

That, should be their one and only job benefit.

Here is what I dont understand about this health insurance fine. Can any liberals clear this up for me?

Why does the fine for those who are uninsured have to be $3800? I mean the fine for driving without car insurance is only 100-500 dollars. So what is with this 3800 dollar fine? Do you democrats really think everyone in the country is made of money? What kind of money tree are you growing?
--------------------
Am completely mystified - what are you talking about? They haven't even figured the whole thing out yet and you are getting upset. What does the cost of a driving ticket have to do with the other either - no correlation at all that I can see. I am sure that their will be a pay plan based on income if you are low income and worried. Good luck.

Will they take my Health insurance deductible out of my paycheck?

I didn't realize how much my blood tests cost until I recieved a benefits of service sheet in the mail, but it says at the bottom that it is not a bill. It does say that I have to pay a certian amount. Can they legally take this out of my paycheck (so then my boss knows some of my medical information) or will they just send me an official bill? Does it have to be paid all at once do you know. It is Blue Cross PPO40
--------------------
Nope, you have to write a check for it. The only time they'll take it out of your paycheck is if you don't write the check, they sue you in court, and garnish your wages. THEN all your boss finds out, is you got sued for unpaid bills and lost.

How to get a free rate quote for apartment, car and health insurance?

I'm doing a school project for economics. Where is a place to get a free rate quote without giving out personal information such as your telephone? Or is this possible? What do you think? Thanks 10 pts.
--------------------
Go to your parent's insurance agent, and just ask them for a ballpark. You can't get a real quote without personal info, as credit score is part of the rating criteria - so you need a ballpark. If you drive an old beater, and you're not in a major city, figure the car will cost you $1,000 a year for minimum coverage, the renters will cost you $150 a year, and the health insurance will cost you $200 a month.

What will happen if someone suddenly goes off lamictal because they no longer have health insurance?

My son was fine before he started taking the lamictal. He just had one severe manic episode in September of last year. If he stops taking it, like he says he will, what will happen? Let me thank you in advance for your answers and any help you can possibly give me.
--------------------
He needs to talk with his doctor; it would be much easier if he were weaned off. There might be a cheaper med he can take. Did he think he was fine OR did you think that? That's 2 different issues. Much luck.

Is it unusual to have 90/10 health insurance that the company provides free of charge?

We have a $600 total family deductible and everyone in our area accepts the insurance. We are not charged monthly for this insurance. I was just wondering if any other companies offer similar plans or if it's specific to my husband's occupation. He's a coal miner and most coal companies offer insurance packages like this. Thanks so much!

That's really good for no monthly payment. I have only seen a comparable plan in the teachers unions. Tell your husband to be safe down there.

Is it lawful for Obama to tax health insurance benefits unless employees are union?

Seem to me that Obama is paying back the Unions for GM
--------------------
Unions' Health Benefits May Avoid Tax Under Obama Proposal http://bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601070&sid=aDvu77pZr7k4 There's a reason the Obama health care plan is being rushed through Congress this summer -- because the American people would likely never support it if given time to absorb and understand such fine print," as the unions being exempt from any tax increase on any health care benefits provided by their boss. "If the union carve-out isn't sufficient to excite public anger, wait till you hear about the version of the Obama plan prepared by Senator Edward Kennedy, which would specifically exempt Members of Congress from many of its provisions. As the US Office of Personnel Management notes, Members of Congress 'enjoy the widest selection of health plans in the country.' According to page 114 of the Kennedy bill, a similar array of choices would not be available to other Americans in the future. Instead, they would be shunted into health insurance plans under the straightjacket of whatever the government decides is a 'basic' plan." Union workers would be exempt from the Democrat health care tax. So guess what that says to people? Hey, buddy, if you join our union, your health care won't be taxed like everybody else's. "Critics of the Baucus proposal to exempt unions from a health care benefits tax said the exclusion could be used to lure into unions employees who are anxious to avoid the benefits tax." Yes, exactly right. So you continue to throw a bone to the unions of the workers' paradise. Obama is right out of Das Kapital? Obama looks at profit as just surplus revenue that he can grab. The private sector is just an endless pile of money. He can go get it, use it for whatever he wants. I have also said that if you want to understand Obama's economic policy, understand just one thing, and that is he considers his mission to be to return the nation's wealth to its, quote, unquote, rightful owners. Now, if you're familiar with Marx and Das Kapital, the rightful owners of the nation's wealth are the poor and workers, the middle class who are exploited and used and taken advantage of and on whose backs other people get rich. Profit is considered evil. Profit is considered something that's unequal. It's unfair to have a profit and to make one. Look where Unions got G.M. Labor unions are disastrous for American car companies. Labor unions, along with the government regulations, will destroy this country's free capitalism, or what is left of free capitalism. When you restrict what a company can do, and couple that with labor unions demanding outrageous amounts of money for little to no work, you get a bankrupt business. When you bite the hand that feeds you enough, you stop getting fed!

What is the difference between the different health insurance plans, such as Indemnity, PPO, Personal Comp?

I'm trying to figure out the best plan for my 14 year old and there are so many to choose from that it's becoming overwhelming. What are major differences between Indemnity, PPO, Personal Comp and HMO. Also, there are HSA accounts, but it looks like you have to be 18 to take advantage of this??
--------------------
Your questions are good, and more than one quick post can answer. The link below will help, but in a nutshell, what you typically are going to find with the plans you mention is that the lower the monthly premium, the less choice you have and who you see and what services you have done. Not a bad thing necessarily, but just now that. Doesn't your 14-year-old qualify for a parent's health plan, or (if incomes are low) for Medicaid or SCHIP?
