Is it possible to get mental health insurance alone?

I am a student, and can't afford my school's plan (which doesn't cover mental health anyways). I have bipolar disorder, though, and I want to keep it in check.

so you just want meds and doctor visits? ya know any plan you get you're gonna have to put that condition down on the application

How can Congress justify mandating you to purchase private health insurance?

I know they claim that it affects intrastate commerce, but does that cover the inactivity of not purchasing something? I don't think so.
--------------------
they can't. it is unconstitutional.

How are the democrats planning on paying for socialized health insurance?

If the government is in huge debt already, and their other federal programs are going bankrupt, likesocial security and medicare. How can we have socialized medicine, and substain it for many generations. Please dont say more taxes. I work four months out of the year to pay for a war i dont believe in. I pay for social security that I will never see. I pay for medicare that I hope I will never need.

Health care and insurance in United States?

I don't quite understand the whole deal. Why is there both health care and private health insurance? Americans pay taxes for health care, but what does health care do? What is the purpose of Health insurance if they have health care? I'm confused.
--------------------
Health care and insurance are two different things. The insurance industry is there to make money. It just happens to provide healthcare as well. Look at the facts. In the US, more money is spent on healthcare per person than any other country in the world. And people live longer if they are born in Western Europe instead. Also, babies die in the USA that would have a better chance of life if born in western Europe. Should Americans be proud that the insurance system they have costs more and does not give babies the same chance of life if born abroad?

Democrats, are you willing to pay for other people's health insurance?

Yes, that's right. Your "free public" health insurance isn't because we'll all be paying for it.
--------------------
since a large portion of democrats don't pay any taxes at all they are fine with it.

If you have a long-term health problem while on short-term health insurance, what happens when it expires?

For example, let's say you purchase a short-term health insurance plan with a duration of 6 months. Then, 3 months from now, something goes wrong that will require treatment for many months or years (cancer, liver problems, a bad accident, etc). Will the short-term health insurance plan only pay for your treatments for the remaining 3 months until the policy is set to expire? Or, since the health problem occurred while the plan was in effect, are treatments covered indefinitely (up until the lifetime maximum dollar amount is met)?

You have to contact the insurance provider. It varies from policy to policy but you can bet they won't want to spend a penny more than they must. The Muse

Would most health insurance pay to have an abscessed tooth pulled if the patient is already in the hospital?

My brother has a brain abscess that has been tied to an abscessed tooth. He needs to have the tooth pulled, but couldn't it be done while he's in the hospital and cheaper?
--------------------
It's a gray area. You would think they should but that doesn't mean they will. Best to call the insurance company and find out from them. Sorry to hear about his troubles.

How much do you pay per month for family health insurance?

We are paying $333 per month and it still has a high deductible and pays nothing. How about the rest of you? I don't need the name of the company, just curious as to how much hard earned money you are forking out.

I have Medicare & Medicaid. I pay nothing & have no copayments!

What are the laws for an employer to provide health insurance in the State of California?

For example how many hours must one work? Is the employer required to provide some sort of plan, is not a contract employee or not an independent contractor?
--------------------
In CA, employers are not required by any law, State or Federal to provide health insurance for their employees. They can require that the employees be full-time (usually 35-40 hrs per week). Or whatever eligibility they want. BUT if they set up eligibility requirements, they must offer health insurance to all employees that meet those requirements. And, in CA, the employer is required to pay at least 50% of the monthly premium or $100-whichever is less.

Why are liberals in denial about how Obamacare is already causing health insurance rates to sky rocket?

Do they not read the news? Or do they just "feel" like its not happening?
--------------------
What is your explanation for the skyrocketing health insurance rates over the last decade? I don't believe that "Obamacare" had anything to do with that. Do you? While I agree that more cost controls should have been included in the health care legislation, especially a public option, I don't think it is rational to blame the legislation and completely ignore recent history.

My incle has just undergone angioplasty and had a stent implant. Is he eligible for health insurance policy?

If so, pls advise a good insurer in India.
--------------------
Private health insurance will be out of the question. No insurance company is going to insure someone with a known health condition. The theory of any insurance is to insure against uncertainty. If you think about it, how long do you think an insurance company would remain solvent if it offered health insurance to individuals who already are ill?

Will they take my Health insurance deductible out of my paycheck?

I didn't realize how much my blood tests cost until I recieved a benefits of service sheet in the mail, but it says at the bottom that it is not a bill. It does say that I have to pay a certian amount. Can they legally just take this out of my paycheck (so then my boss knows some of my medical information) or will they just send me an official bill? Does it have to be paid all at once do you know. It is Blue Cross PPO40
--------------------
No unless you have authorized a payroll deduction to the provider (which is highly unusual) - they cannot take any payments from your paycheck. Most likely you will get a bill for anything that is not covered due to deductible ---make regular payments or call to set up a payment plan and you will keep it from going to collections. Under the H.I.P.P.A. Law - the provider nor Blue Cross can disclose any information in your medical record without your written permission for any reason.

How do doctors get health insurance?

The ones with an independant practice... Do they get some kind of a discount because they're in the field or is there some way for them to join a group plan even though they are self employed?
--------------------
The vast majority are "employees" of their own corporation. I've never ever seen a doctor's office, where the entire business was run under the doctor's personal name. It doesn't make any sense, as they could be absolutely wiped out financially with one really bad malpractice case. They get a group policy, which covers them, and their employees. Employees include both the receptionist and nurse, that you see, and usually at least one billing/collections person, and sometimes an accountant/office manager. They do NOT get a discount - they pay the same group rates as everyone else with a group of that size.

Does anyone else think it's wrong for the government to force employers to provide health insurance?

What's next? Housing, food, car insurance?
--------------------
Yes. If something were to happen to the person at work, family would be able to deal with the insurances. Plus they don't make you fill all that out until you are stable enough.

Do you ever fear of losing your job and not having health insurance to get your medicine?

This worries me a lot. I bet the withdrawals would be terrible. I feel so weird when I don't take my medicine. I am sure there are more important medicines than ones for depression, etc. However, I often fear that if I lose my job I would lose the ablility to see my doctors and counselors. What would a person do in this situation, especially if they could not find work easily? I don't have much money, but I do have a farm. I probably would not qualify for assistance and would lose it all.
--------------------
There might be regional or county programs you could go through. It depends on where you live. If you live in the US the have county programs depending on state. They are a hassle to work with though, lots of hoops to jump through. I am unsure about other countries, many have national health care systems.

What would the premiums cost for government health insurance?

How much will people have to pay to be covered by Obama care? Are there estimates? Do many people believe it will be free? It's good to know the price of things before you buy them.
--------------------
That is a good question. A whole lot of people are going to be disappointed when they find out they they will be forced to buy health insurance otherwise facing a fine. I don't really see how that is reform. People can choose to go out and buy insurance now, so what is the advantage? And how will costs be controlled? In some states, like California where I live, auto insurance is mandatory. Instead of decreasing costs, providers charge more, as anyone who has taken their car in for collision damage sees when comparing payed for by insurance vs. out of pocket for the same work (my truck, for example, was quoted as costing $1300 to $1500 to take out a dent while out of pocket it would only be $600). If anything, Obama and Congress are legislating a massive "gimmie" to the insurance companies. In the end, I think they are really going to mess up the system so badly that people will be begging for a single payer system in a few years. That is horrible, as the 80% of us that are happy with our health care will be screwed over being forced into an inferior system.

Is Obamacare causing a 30% increase in health insurance premiums the change Obama was talking about?

Or was the change the huge increases in co-pays that are coming along side it?

why do libs say, creating a government monopoly on health insurance will create competition?

but wont let health insurance company's compete across state lines. Hypocrites.
--------------------
They think some how a government option that can't go bankrupt, doesn't need profit, doesn't need cash flow, doesn't need to generate revenue and can make negative income, is competitive vs a company. Don't ask why. They just don't have a brain. If anyone starts a company of course they desire profit. Why manage something to break even. How do you live off an income that isn't generated. Their theory doesn't make sense.

life and health Insurance test in Kansas or in geneal?

Does anyone know what types of questions are on the life and health insurance test, how hard is it, I have to take it Monday and I like to know a little about what im getting into before I get there. Thanks, Majah
--------------------
Question. How did you prepare. Did you have the manual? Did you take a class? Did you take the short session review to prep yourself for this exam. I have taken it in several states along with the C&L and the Series 6 and 7 for interest bearing and investment related insurance products. If you are taking this test cold, you are wasting your time and money or your employers money if an employer is backing you.

Why do the lower income workers want a flat tax rate or self funded health insurance?

To me, it appears that the lower income workers are not looking after themselves. Do you think the ultra rich will be looking after the interests of lower income earners (or rather are looking after the interest of the lower income earners)? Do these people not realize that if they do not look after themselves no one else will?
--------------------
Because people hear what they want to hear and they see what they want to see. They want to see and hear that corporations and rich people don't pay hardly any taxes to the government because rich people and rich corporations get all the loop holes. They don't want to believe that when rich people's income gets to about $120,000 that deductions and credits start to melt off of the tax return. They don't want to hear that 85% of all personal income tax is paid by the top 15% of filers.
