Pregnancy - group health insurance switch to another insurance company?

I've now 5 month pregnant and I'm covered by my husband's company's health insurance, Cigna, for pregnancy. Now his company want to switch to another group health insurance company next month and I want to know if my pregnance still covered by the new insurance company? Or can I request to extend insurance coverage from Cigna until my baby is born to guarantee my pregnancy is covered?

You will be covered. There are federal regulations (HIPAA) which require a insurance co. to impose no pre exisitng condition limitations when a firm changes to a different company.

is it a legal requirement in Texas to have health insurance?

after i graduate high school and when i turn 18 and move out i will not be a full time student there for not covered under my parents insurances in any way... so is it a legal requirement in Texas for me to have health insurance like it is for car insurance? thanks in advance
--------------------
The only state that currently requires individuals to have health insurance is Massachusetts. The new health reform law will extend that requirement to most other Americans beginning in 2014. Starting in September 2010, however, health reform will allow you to stay on your parents' health insurance plan until age 26, unless your employer also offers you coverage. Either way, try not to go without coverage. Health insurance does a lot more than get you access to doctors and hospitals. It also protects your financial future from serious medical expenses that could result from an unexpected illness or injury. If you're unable to stay on your parents' plan, you may find that individual health insurance is relatively affordable for people who are young and relatively healthy. Work with a licensed agent, online or off, to find out what your options are when the time comes.

Where can you get health insurance with a low monthly payment in Wisconsin.?

I just lost my health insurance and am wondering where I can get health insurnace in wisconsin? I am 22 and healthy. I cannot pay alot per month so that is my main worry.
--------------------
Sounds like you should just get a job so you stop worrying about the money. In the mean time look into a short term insurance through ehealthinsurance (info below) or mysimplecard. None of them will break the bank if you choose right.

Do you think some of the people here are just goons from the health insurance companies?

Considering that they all copy & paste the same propaganda, and that they all act like stupid sheep, I wouldn't be surprised if those scum health insurance companies are sending their goons here too.
--------------------
You are a true liberal anybody that don't agree with you all is either unamerican or goons sent by insurance companies. Democracy seems not to exist within your agenda you want us all to follow this man like kool aid. He spent money on stimulus that did not work not because people have some sense not to believe in his capabilities to make any rational decision you think we are sent here. believe me in the next couple of years when you see America go down the toilet with health care that they cannot fund then you'll wish you were on answer voicing your anger by then it will be too late.

What happens if my OHIP (Ontario health insurance) expires?

My OHIP (Canadian Health Insurance) expires Wednesday, I will not be able to renew it until Thursday afternoon. What are the consequences? Will I have a problem renewing it even though I am late?
--------------------
Normally you are okay. Unless your photo health card renewal notice came back to OHIP as being returned mail, the card will still be billable. (officially) If you have a photo health card and any mail to the mailing address on file is returned it voids the card. A doctor's office can refuse it though, since they want to make sure they get paid. Also, if you show it to an insurance company, they may also refuse it. (eg you have to show you have valid OHIP coverage to get extra insurance) There are always exceptions...but that it is generally okay for one day. This is also assuming it is your normal renewal time. If you mean expiring as in you need to reply to a letter for more info on your card, then your card will not be able any good potentially. (and that is more detail than able to be provided here) Lucky you...most OHIP office have the new cameras for you to get a better picture than the old ones. :)

I am 22 and getting kicked off my parents health insurance policy soon, what's a good option?

My work has health insurance it would be $250 a month, and have a 2,500 deductible...25 co-pay for dr visits... I only make $1200 at that job, so it would really limit my pay check! I heard about Healthy Blue, but would like everyone's advice on what they did, or suggest!

rider gets hurt on owners horse and has no health insurance. Who is Responsible?

A girl at my barn has agreed to help train and sell my horse. She gets paid per ride and has been doing it for a month. THe other day my horse spooked and she fell off. Although she was not hurt, she did have some medical bills but she does not have health insurance. I have offered to pay for half but she is demanding that I pay the full bill. What sort of responsibility do I have for this?
--------------------
It may be different depending on where you live. Sometimes the owner of the property is responsible, sometimes the owner of the horse, and sometimes it's both. She is not responsible in this case. Unless you want to fight it out in court, just pay the full bill.

New Health Reform and Insurance Benefits as Income?

I have heard that starting January 1, 2011 if I, for example, have some kind of surgery and my health insurance that I carry through my employer pays out say $20K for the surgery - I will be seeing that $20K as income on my W2 for the year 2011. Has anyone heard this? Is this true?
--------------------
No. The benefits of the insurance would never count as income. I had heard rumors that the policy premium might be considered income, at present time it is not, however from my understanding it didn't pass in the health care bill. I can't answer with 100% certainty because I haven't read the 2800 page bill.

i have screws in my pelvis hip and leg the pain is uncontrolable and i have no health insurance what can i do?

Ive had the metal in my body for the past 6 years and its never been nearly as bad! Ive taken motrin, ibprofin and pain killers and nothing seems to work. I have no clue what doctors I could go that works with this case or that takes patients with no health insurance which i have tried to get but denyed 3 times from my previous condition! I need serious help!
--------------------
I was going to suggest Ibuprofin, when my hips or knees start hurting bad that's what I take, but I take large quantities. Prescription dosage is usually 600mg, so I'll take 6 of the 200mg over the counter ones. Wish I had a better suggestion. Have you looked into Accupuncture?

Is credit used in determining health insurance rates?

I am licensed in GA for property & casualty insurance, so I know credit is used to help determine rates for auto & homeowners insurance, but it is considered in health insurance?
--------------------
The first 10 years of my "insurance life" were doing only commercial property and casualty. I started selling life and health in 1994. I currently do both, and have no companies that require a credit check on the L&H side. I believe that is because there can be no financial gain on the L&H side (except for death in life insurance, and you don't gain because you are dead!). Even though insurance is designed to make you whole and put you where you were before the loss, you can lose your home to a fire, and be better off than you were before the loss occured. This is because everything that you own now is new, and what you lost in the fire could be stuff that has depreciated down to practically no value. Of course, you would need replacement cost coverage for this to happen.

How is Health Insurance gonna change?

I heard that they're most likely getting Health Insurance reform done by the end of the year so what's gonna be different? Will it be cheaper?
--------------------
The 6th link goes into it. If the reforms go ahead, then insurance costs will be cheaper for all and insurance companies will not be able to deny treatment, nor refuse (or charge more) for preexisting conditions. I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts? FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3]. Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4] Maybe that is because in the USA, insurance companies push up costs, buy politicians and refuse to pay claims that people pay for [5]. (Look up Wendell Potter on YouTube to hear more if the link below is too long.) Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8]. Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare? If you think my arguments are wrong, e-mail me with proof. But if you can not, let Obama try to help America. If he fails, vote him out in 2012.

Can an Expecting Father get health insurance?

I applied for health insurance with Cigna and they called me today to say that my rate would increase by 25% because 2 months ago, my doctor prescirbed a very limited quantity of xanax for occasional stress. I told the underwriter that I was just stressed because my fiancee was pregnant. She called me back 10 minutes later and told me they were denying coverage because my fiancee is pregnant. How is this legal? Does anyone have a similar story? Can someone recommend health insurance that will accept me if my fiancee is pregnant?
--------------------
My husband and I have found ourselves in a similar situation. After we had moved to Chicago and one of us was able to get a job that offered health insurance, we weighed all the options and decided to go for private health insurance for my husband, since adding him to my work insurance was going to cost WAY too much. Well, we were very surprised when we found out that my husband could not get health insurance because I was pregnant. I have looked around to see if anyone could provide my husband with health insurance but have had NO luck. We are stuck in this situation now in which my husband will be left with no health insurance for months until the baby is born and covered under my health insurance plan. I could add my husband to my work insurance but enrollment period won't happen again until 3 months after our baby is born. During one of my conversations with one of the health care providers I was told that expectant fathers cannot be approved for health insurance and that it is something that is valid nation wide. I have not found a reliable source to back the statement but I also have not found an insurance company that will cover my husband. Sorry to bring you bad news.

Do you think that companies will be rushing to hire people once they are required to offer health insurance be?

I know liberals think that businesses are bottomless pits of money and can afford higher taxes and expensive health insurance but I can assure they're not. If you don't think that this will result in the loss of jobs, or making full timers into part timers, you're crazy.

Health insurance rates keep rising, should I get a new plan now or wait?

I received another statement saying my health insurance is increasing my rate... again. Seems like they do this twice a year. Its gone up $100 since last year. I'm in great health - I don't even use the insurance. I have it just in case anything happens. But its a big dent in my buget. I want to get a new plan, but should I wait until congress passes this new health bill?
--------------------
If and when the new bill passes the only thing that will change in the near future are the taxes, which will go up almost immediately. The proposed health plan will not be available until 2014.

How can I get Health Care without Insurance??

My boyfriend and I are responsible, working people who have enough money to pay for a doctor's visit and medication but who cannot afford health insurance payments every month. As far as I know, there are NO doctors who see you without health insurance. I know about Urgent Care places, have waited in lines with underprivileged children and it's not the place for us. Does anyone have any advice that would lead us to a - doctor's - care?
--------------------
If you can pay for it in full at the time of the visit, they will see you. Almost all of them take cash, checks, debit and credit cards. A lot of them even offer discounts to cash payers now, since they have to wait so long for the person's insurance to cut them a check. You can see any doctor you want if you can pay for it. We don't have insurance either, my hubby and I both work for small businesses. I was worried about not having it at first, because I had always had it until about 3 years ago, but we are spending less now just paying when we go than we would be paying premiums. We are looking into hospitalization and catastrophic illness policies, but I'll never throw my money away again on premiums just for office visits and drugs. It only makes sense if you have a chronic condition.

If we get government health insurance, what happens to the money my employer pays for my health insurance?

my employer pays for my health insurance as part of my salary, if we get government health insurance will I get the money my employer dose not have to pay in the form of a raise?
--------------------
Some companies will pay you the amount that they would have had to pay in premiums if you opt out of their insurance plans. Other companies don't have the choice and you are just covered by both plans. If the government plan doesn't pay 100% the balance of the bill is then submitted to the second insurance company so they pay it.

will thyroid problem be considered preexisting if i get health insurance now?

I was diagnosed and treated for hyperthyroidism last August 2007 in my home country. Early this year, I migrated to the US and now I'm getting health insurance from work.
--------------------
It depends on your employers group size, what state you are in, and what the carrier will accept as prior coverage. In NJ a person who has had a lapse in coverage is subject to pre ex if they are going on a small group policy. To many variables to pinpoint an answer for you.
