Do you believe that the poor without health insurance should be allowed to simply suffer and die?

I personally believe in healthcare for all, but I am interested in hearing from those who believe that those without health insurance should just be gone to suffer and die.
--------------------
Hell no! America has the healthcare system of a third-world country... It's ridiculous! However, I asked my friend (who's anti-universal healthcare) and he said that if they don't work hard like the rest of us to pay for their insurance, they're a burden to society and SHOULD be allowed to die. Unbelievable.

Can you deduct the standard deduction and health insurance premiums?

My buddy and I own an LLC (taxed as an S-Corp). Can you deduct business expenses (such as phone) and health insurance premiums AND the standard deduction? Also, do distributions/dividends have to be distributed equally (if we each own 50%, per say) can he take 60%, and I take 40% of distributions? Thanks in advance.

Pick one.

You don't have to have medical coverage to apply. Coverage starts when you go to your staging event (which is your last stop before flying to your new home)

How long do people have to get health insurance?

Me and my younger sister have health insurance, but my mom can't afford to buy herself some. She'll be able to get some through work soon, once she's been working there a year (in June or July, not sure). I don't want her to go to jail because she's all me and my sister have. I'm really worried..
--------------------
It's not mandated until 2014 so there is more than enough time. She's not going to jail.

How can low-income people *afford* lower cost health insurance?

Huckleberry suggested that low-income people will be able to afford low-cost private health insurance--but he doesn't say *how* that will be possible. Guliani says that with tax credits, people will be able to afford low-cost insurance. (How is that possible?) I haven't figured what the other GOP candidates want, but how can low-income people--and those on disability--be able to afford expensively HUGE health-insurance plans on what little money that is already afforded to them per month?
--------------------
WOW some of the people on here are sickening. You're right- they can't. It's insane. Low income means these people are WORKING, they are contributing to society and yet they are denied medical care. It's madness. They need to expand medicare to provide cover for low-income people as well as the completely destitute. I know people who have quit their jobs in order to get medical care when pregnant- that's not useful to anybody.

Why not crack down on insurance companies first instead of this mandatory health insurance?

That seems to be where the source of the problem lies anyways. By the way, mandatory health insurance just means more money for insurance companies, not helping American citizens. That would be unfair if I have to buy health insurance. That's not free health care as advertised. In Europe and Canada, the entire nation's tax payers share the burden of health insurance so that every single person can receive free health care, even those who can't afford, even foreign travelers temporarily visiting. That's how it should be. That's what it means to be a community. Not being fined and forced to buy a health insurance package. http://news.yahoo.com/video/us-15749625/health-care-bill-what-it-means-to-you-18746729 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100322/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_care_overhaul
--------------------
I agree with you But in this country money is number one and insurance companies have lots of it and want more they got a slap in the face that's about all. I want free health care I don't want to have to worry if I have enough money to take my kids to the doctor and pay my bills. I am happy that we have something that helps us it is a start

what happens if i lie to planned parenthood about my health insurance?

I do have health insurance now but before I didn't and I would get everything free and my parents never knew about it. So now that I have it what will change? Do I have to tell them? Will they find out if I do or not?
--------------------
It's so much easier to explain to them that you don't want your parents finding out, and therefore can not use your health insurance. They will totally understand. I told them that, and they fixed my copays.

How much does private, high quality, health insurance cost in Dubai?

I am moving to Dubai with my family and I want to budget for health insurance. Does anyone have any input on this? thanks.
--------------------
On an average it will be between AED 2,500 to AED 4,000/person/annum. The above would be for a coverage of about AED 200,000 with a regional cover. The insurance premium will vary based on the following factors (i) Number of people in family (ii) Sum assured (iii) Geographical location (iv) Coverage (Maternity, Dental etc)

Health insurance coverage for someone with preexisting condition?

Does any one know about an good insurance company that will cover somene with pre-existing condition. I am looking or indivisual health plan but I have been turned down by blue shield for having a pre-existing condition.
--------------------
All legitimate companies will underwrite you for the pre-existing condition unless it's for a very limited defined benefit plan. However, just because one company declines that doesn't mean all companies will decline. What each company will do depends on the company, the condition, sometimes the plan you are applying for, and your state of residence. Depending on the condition some companies will accept you but not cover the condition. Other companies will accept you but charge a higher premium to cover the condition. Other companies will have a separate deductible for the condition. Also, companies can do any combination of the above. Since companies and regulations vary by state (and you didn't mention the condition) there is no way anyone here can recommend a company. Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can find out your options with the various companies and can find the best plan for you if one is possible. There is no extra charge using an agent.

Who will cut taxes for big corporations, but tax your health insurance ?

Yes- McCain !! Apparently this trickle down will help the economy, altho it hasnt done up to now. And the middle class can pay for it, through being taxed for their health insurance. You betcha !! Joe the plumber better get a second job.
--------------------
What gets me is that cutting taxes for big business gets confused with taxing personal income for mega-earners. Tax on big business is too light anyway, and the orthodoxy that increasing it lowers productivity is nonsense put out by neo-liberal economists. It's a matter of who is willing to absorb the cost: big business won't and small taxpayers can't. Mega-earners pay too little tax. They know where the loopholes are and can afford the lawyers to find them. edit - 'TA Obama Sheeple': No useful socialism has ever had a chance to develop without fanatical capitalists banding together to spread discord. Your ignorance is irritating more than anything.

I need to provide my own health insurance. Any suggestions on who to call?

I am considering going in to business for myself, but I will need to privide myself and my family with health insurance. My daughter has type 1 diabetes and I have to be covered. What company offers good coverage for families?

A friend of mine went through a similar situation a few years back. I think the suggestion of contacting your current agent is a good one. A benefits broker is definately the way to go. Check out this article on things you should be asking potential benefits brokers.

If someone can't afford health insurance, is there a way people can help to make the rate go down?

Let's say someone wants to buy health insurance. But the health insurance is to expensive for them. Is there a way that the insurance can do down so that the person can have health insurance? And how will Obama help with the insurance problem?
--------------------
Sure, they can raise their deductibles, or limit their coverage, to limit the amount the insurance company has to pay out, and that will lower their cost. What's the "insurance problem"? Obama's definition, is that people with preexisting conditions can't buy coverage that covers them. So, he fixed that by backing a law that says, in exchange for YOU being REQUIRED to buy health insurance, the insurance companies have to cover preexisting conditions. Price is NOT relevant - they can charge as much as they want. Due to the nature of the law, insurance costs are actually going to go HIGHER - maybe a lot higher.

With obamas new health care plan is everybody gonna have to buy their own health insurance?

I keep hearing more and more now that obama is gonna reinforce his new health care plan. Which I know nothing about. It kinda scares me since i'm unemployed and I can't not afford to have health insurance. Is obama gonna make everyone buy it? And i'm wondering if there gonna raise more taxes on us, like we need it?
--------------------
Under the plan I've heard mentioned the most, everyone would be required to buy health insurance, either from a private insurance company or a new government-run public plan. If you're unemployed and can't afford it, the government would help you pay for it (how they would do this, I don't know). And yes, taxes will have to increase to pay for it, although precisely WHICH taxes is unclear at this point. With any luck, you'll have a job by the time all this goes into effect.

If you are injured in an auto accident (other car is at fault, no insurance) why doesn't your health ins pay?

Why doesn't your own health insurance pay for your injuries in an accident involving someone with no insurance. I can't understant why the need for uninsured coverage if you have medical insurance, which should pay for your injuries, if someone else causes your injuries.

They should pay.

About how much coverage does your health insurance provide?

I'm trying to figure out the average coverage of health insurance. Do they cover 70% of your medical bills? 90%? Tell me yours, or an average that you know of.
--------------------
As a physician, I see many of the hundreds of plans offered. The range is amazing. Some are very good (like my son's coverage): $100 deductible and 80-90% coverage. I can't afford that sort of plan, so my family has a $1500 deductible per person, and 80% coverage. I've seen plans that have high deductibles and cover 50%, to some that cover my charges in full. Medicare has a fairly low deductible, and pays 80% after they write off about 75% of what physicians charge :( It's pretty close to charity work for us. Many people don't understand their insurance plan, and it's no wonder. They are complex and confusing. Add into that equation the fact that insurance companies are dishonest and frequently try to get out of paying for things they ought to cover. I've spent hours trying to get paid for a 20 minute case.

Are there any cheap health insurance programs in Wisconsin?

I am a college student who just moved out on her own and even though I work 40 hours, I still can't afford health insurance through my job. Are there any cheap insurances or aide?
--------------------
Talk with you college there are programs there that can help. When I was in a similar situation I was able to get insurance through my college. It was cheap and much more comprehensive than anything I was able to get later. For example the University of Wisconsin Madison has the SHIP program for any UW-Madison registered student. It costs $815 for coverage from 1/15 to 8/14 so a little over $100 a month Good luck

How do I treat my Oral Thrush without any health insurance?

I think I've had Oral Thrush on my tongue and the roof of my mouth for about six weeks now, since I initially developed a viral bronchitus that developed into a secondary bacterial infection in my sinuses. I typically see dr.s in a free community clinic. And I sometimes visit my primary clinic but now have to pay $50 fee each time since I do not have state funded health insurance yet b/c I'm still unemployed. I applied for the state health insurance two months ago but it takes forever. Anyway, do I waste my time at the free clinic again where a dr. there (I never see the same one twice b/c they rotate so often) about a treatment? Or do I spend another $50 just to see an ENT (who knows if I have to wait another 4 weeks to get an appt. either) to get a treatment for my Oral Thrush. I am scared it will spread down my throat to my lungs if I wait any longer. I did call my clinic's afterhours primary care line. A nurse told me to swab dish soap and baking soda on the Thrush. Please help!
--------------------
Your condition sounds moderate to severe and therefore needs to be treated with an antifungal medication. You will find a list of these medications listed at www.webmd.com under drugs and treatments. Click on drugs and treatments, then click on treatments by condition and type in Oral Candidiasis. Write down these treatments and return to the free clinic and ask the doctor there to prescribe the best antifungal medication for you. You will have to come up with the money to buy it...but worth it to get rid of this condition which is a yeast infection. If your condition is severe you will need medication twice as long as the usual dose. If the free clinic doctor does nothing then start complaining everywhere you can beginning with the head of the free clinic. The lack of medical care in the US is Appalling! Please note....WebMD also lists homeopathic remedies among other useful resources. However you can spend a lot of money on these remedies when one prescription will do the trick and probably cost less. I hope you get well soon. I've had Oral Thrush and it is no fun.
