How could i get an international health insurance for one month?

Will it be expensive? And how long do i process that? I am going on an internship in another country and they're requiring me to get this... :-)
--------------------
If you are currently covered on an existing health care policy via your parents/guardian (or yourself)you might already be covered for temporary trips/visits out of the country. You should check with that insurance company first because you might already be covered and just don't know it. If you are currently covered domestically but aren't covered for out of country trips/visits for a nominal fee they will probably agree to add you for a specified period of time. If that fails you should look for an insurance agent that represents appropriate insurers. Let them do your leg work. A good agent will find you the best coverage at the least cost. Short term policies are pretty common so you shouldn't have a difficult time in finding what you need. The answer might be as close as the yellow pages of your local telephone directory.

If you have a long-term health problem while on short-term health insurance, what happens when it expires?

For example, let's say you purchase a short-term health insurance plan with a duration of 6 months. Then, 3 months from now, something goes wrong that will require treatment for many months or years (cancer, liver problems, a bad accident, etc). Will the short-term health insurance plan only pay for your treatments for the remaining 3 months until the policy is set to expire? Or, since the health problem occurred while the plan was in effect, are treatments covered indefinitely (up until the lifetime maximum dollar amount is met)?

You have to contact the insurance provider. It varies from policy to policy but you can bet they won't want to spend a penny more than they must. The Muse

What does California offer for health insurance for people with low income?

I currently live in maine and get maine care. what would be the equivalent in california? and is it hard to get?
--------------------
There is no equivalent. In California, you can be an illegal immigrant or indigent and get MediCal, or you can be simply too poor to afford medical insurance and you get nothing.

What are the pros and cons of deregulating health insurance so consumers can buy across state lines?

I know the obvious pro would be to create competition and hopefully lower costs, but would there be any other benefits? Also, are there any little-known risks you're aware of?
--------------------
Not so obviously. The real pro, is more competition. But there are some major issues dealing with it, because each state requires different things of insurance companies. Some states require coverage for infertility treatment, which drives up rates. Some require that an insurance company CANNOT turn down an application, they HAVE to give health insurance to EVERYONE who asks for it - which triples rates. I think the result of allowing policies to be sold across state lines, will result in an INCREASE of rates for people currently in more restrictive states, and a DECREASE in health insurers willing to write new policies. There is no federal insurance oversight - each state regulates policies sold in that state. So, to do health insurance across state lines, will require a new federal oversight department. How will you fund that? Bottom line, I can't figure out how it could possibly cost less.

If the US system is so great then why do we have millions of people who can't get health insurance?

Yes, I'm aware that some don't want it, and a couple million of them are illegals. However that leaves 20 plus million who can't get good health care in the US.
--------------------
Probably should check your numbers. There are approximately 15 million that don't want it, 11 million are illegals. We don't turn anyone away that needs medical care. The problem is you don't want the government controlling yet another facet of our lives. And if this proposed health care plan is so great--why is it that noone in Washington has stated they would sign up for it--because it's not what they are telling us. If they want to propose a health care plan, then the President should propose the very same health care that those in Washington are getting. ***

What do you think of health care insurance that covers 90% of a hospital stay?

It offers a $500 family deductible, after that, 90% of a hospital stay, $20 for a Primary Care office visit, and $30 for a specialist visit. The insurance company is Aetna. This is their Core PPO plan.
--------------------
I don't like it. You could end up with a really big hospital bill since they add up quickly. The rest is pretty standard.

About how many nations have national health insurance and in how many of them?

are the people clamoring for an American-style system? After all, 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'.
--------------------
I'm from Canada and no....no one person in Canada wants a privatized health care system, other than a few businessmen who may profit from such a change, but we believe it to be a basic fundamental right that all Canadians have universal health care. Which means I don't pay for insurance I'm covered anywhere in Canada. and in times of sickness I don't worry about financial. As well I believe that most European nations have a government funded health care systems, as well as Australia, Cuba, and countless others. I believe the US health care is really a notch or two down from most of the industrial world...get with the times USA...look after your peeps. I have family who vacation the winters in Arizona, and they will not even go shopping in the states without travel insurance due to the potential cost if they were to ever get sick or hurt. Hell when there in Arizona the go to Mexico for there prescriptions and dental work...kinda sad if you ask me.

About health insurance at university?

I have a network health insurance and my school rejected the insurance. I have to get their recommended health insurance blue shield cross. Is there anyway that I can have my network health insurance cover part of the bill?

Yes, you can do that but you have to ask them directly about it as they know the best procedure. Here is a source where you can find more advice: http://www.myhealth-forum.com/

How is it fair that the AMISH don't have to buy health insurance?

don't they ever go to the hospitals? seriously? can I claim the same thing?

Why would they need to go to the doctor, they don't eat disgusting food like we do (mcdonalds and soda). They do physical work all day. They are not fat slobs like the rest if us.

When Obama's health care plan passes does that mean my employer has to pay for 100% of my health insurance?

Or whatever percentage my employer feels like? And what about deductibles, can my employer get away with a $2000 deductible under Obama care that I have to pay?
--------------------
That depends on how large your employer is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htZN-Is7N… And no, a large deductable like that would be banned. FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [a] FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [b] FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [c] FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [d] FACT - Obama was elected to bring in change [e] FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies screwing the American people [f] FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and in Switzerland [g] If anyone can prove the facts above are wrong, e-mail me and let me know.

Would Jesus vote for a National Health Insurance to give free care to the poor, sick, and needy?

I think He would. Jesus has commanded us to help the poor, the unfortunate. I have read nothing in Jesus' words that would deny care to those who can not afford it. Isn't passing a "public option" the Christian thing to do?
--------------------
You beat me to the punch. I was about to ask the same thing. Yes, Jesus would vote for National Health Insurance. I think Jesus would give every worldly possession to save 1 person. I do think people of faith that vote against a plan that is INTENDED to help people are hypocrites. If Republican, let's say Bush, were to put forth the same plan Obama did. The majority of conservative would be for it. I don't know when saving people became a Liberal thing to do. I don't consider myself to be Liberal nor Conservative, but if it is only going to cost me money to give someone HOPE that they will live then I think we should do it. The good thing about this country is that it can change things. If a bill isn't working, then come back and fix it. But let's start saving lives, Jesus would.

What can I do about my health insurance not covering any weight loss pills at all?

they said ppo even medicaid or medicare won't cover weight loss pills... what can I do? I don't have enough money cuz I was laid off
--------------------
Good for your insurance! That's smart. Those pills do not work anyway! Stop spending your money on junk food. Eat a salad for lunch. Eliminate snacks. Walk, exercise. Stop looking for some useless crutch, and get yourself in gear to eat properly & exercise. Eat healthy, act healthy, and you will get healthy.

Can you have mre than one health insurance policy in Michigan?

If you were covered by your work, but wanted additional coverage could you do it?
--------------------
Yes, it's usually called supplemental insurance. For instance, if your insurance from work doesn't cover hospitalization, you can find insurances that will cover hospitalization and surgery but nothing else. The two would then complement each other. You can search for programs here: http://www.esurance.com/home/health.asp

What family practices in Las Vegas accept saint mary's health insurance?

i just moved here from northern nevada, and i looked on the health plan web page and it looks like there arn't any family practices here that do. and i really!!!!! need to see a doc!!!
--------------------
There might not be any. Call the number on the back of your card, and ask for the 'out of network' benefit rates. And you'll probably have to change insurance, to find one in network.

How will the state of mass. collect and enforce fines (penalties)for unpaid mandatory health insurance?

According to reports non-participation in mandatory health insurance will result first in loss of state personal income tax refund (?), then fines!!! How does the state intend to recoup or enforce these fines??? Liens? Wage garnishing?? Seizure of property??? Loss of drivers license or other state issued licenses?? I haven't found the actual statute to review it.
--------------------
The fines will be charged and enforced by the Department of Revenue, in the same way the Department of Revenue collects unpaid taxes and related fees.
