How will letting health insurance companies operate across state lines affect healthcare?

Because now that all the credit card companies are allowed to operate from North Dakota, they're free to charge 79.9% interest rates and change the terms whenever they please. http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/cred…
--------------------
This is really a ploy so that insurance companies don't have to comply with state laws about coverage and responsibility, I live in NY, and my insurance co is in Texas, they call themselves a discount plan, not an insurance plan. That way they don't have to worry about the consumer protections I had when I had an employer provider plan. I had to fight Aetna to get an operation done in a way I needed, the State Insurance board went to bat for me and four months later I had it done and paid for by the insurance company. They actually admitted that the operation was well within their own guidelines. The reason for denial was never made clear..my guess is that they were just hoping I'd give up. I can't do that with this out of state plan. So how will it affect health care? It will put us more at the mercy of the merciless.

For the past few days I haven't been feeling well, but since I dont have insurance I try my hardest to ignore it. So I found this in my research? What are the symptoms of tonsillitis? The following are the most common symptoms for tonsillitis. However, each individual may experience symptoms differently. Symptoms may include: *swollen, red tonsils (often coated with a yellow, gray, or white membrane) *blisters or painful ulcerated areas on the throat *sudden onset sore throat *pain with swallowing *headache *loss of appetite (dont have) *malaise (dont have) *chills *fever (dont have) *swollen and tender lymph nodes in the neck or jaw area So I am hoping that SOMEONE out there can offer some advice to me as what I can do at home and save myself the huge bill going to the doctor without insurance. If not, what is your opinion of Congress and Hussein's plans to extend the SCHIP coverage to 6 million kids who's parents are in this country on work permits? I don't mean to be mean. But America needs to wake up. Our own citizens are going without, but congress can spend billions to pay for the neighbor's kids, but allow our own to go without. Is that the change you expected?

How do you become a medical technician? How is the pay? Hours? Do you get health insurance?

I thought I would want to be a Nurse's Technician, but I don't really want to deal with vomit or stool. This has come out of the blue. I'm 30 and thought I wanted to be a teacher. If Obama forces you to buy health insurance, and you simply can't afford it, what will happen?

I am up to my earlobes in debt, and if another bill is laid on me, I'll collapse. Are YOU gonna pay for my Bacon Cheeseburger addiction?
--------------------
It will probably be paid for out of all of our paychecks, just like it is now, thus spreading the cost over millions of consumers. Also, not all of us have diseases that are artery-clogging or otherwise damaging to our health so we won't all need quadruple bypasses. At least, not all at once, so there's a savings there. The proposed plan that I favor encourages preventive maintenance so that, hopefully, your cheeseburger habit won't catch up to our wallets and your heart. Lay off the burgers, Fatty. Your loved ones want you around for a long time.

Anyone ever switch health insurance while pregnant?

Only in the good ol USA do we have to stress about how in the world we're going to afford medical bills.. I have United Healthcare right now but they do not offer maternity coverage at all unless Im on a group plan. That is not an option for me because my work doesn't offer insurance. I've checked into BCBS but would they consider being pregnant a "pre-existing condition". I have a call in to a rep and am waiting for a call back but I'm just looking for advice or experiences pleeease. Thanks
--------------------
This lovely country we live in! Most won't let you, since they see it as a 'pre-existing condition' (so dumb!) I didn't have any when i got pregnant and my husbands insurance wouldn't let me switch on to his. So i go to a birthing center and pay out of pocket...which is cheaper than insurance :)

--------------------
If your wife is covered on BOTH your COBRA plan AND her group health insurance, then yes, it will work as dual coverage. However, if she is not on your COBRA plan, then she gets no help from your insurance. You CAN have both COBRA and Group Medical, it is just a prohibitively expensive idea, in most cases. I hope your wife recovers well, swiftly and safely.

Simple question; why do businesses offer health insurance as a benefit?

Simple question that my parents cant seem to answer?
--------------------
To retain better quality employees. The companies where it's harder to FIND qualified employees, tend to offer coverages. The companies where your employment base is unskilled labor and easily replaced, tend to not offer coverages. Sure they could pay an employee more with no benefits - but most employees WANT those benefits, and would rather have them. Benefits are WORTH something, ya know! The average no deductible family plan with maternity coverage, is valued at $2000 a month! That's not chicken feed . . ..

As a senior citizen on medicare do I need additional health insurance. Presently I have both and it is costly.?

It is costing me nearly $200 per month. Whenever I have blood work and doctor visit they charge medicare not my med insurance. I am healthy and only go to the doctors and have blood work 3 times per year.
--------------------
Medicare has two part that cover medical related expense. Part A is for hospital situations an if admitted your only cost in 2009 is a $1,068 deductible. Part B is for all out patient medical expenses. It pays 80% of the Medicare rate for a specific treatment and the person pays 20%. Today so much treatment is done on an outpatient basis thus a Medicare Supplement plan, which pays the 20%, is needed. In my area a very good Medicare Supplement can be purchased for about $190 a month. There would be an additional cost of about $40 for prescription coverage. Another option to cover the medical treatment expenses Medicare does not pay is a Medicare Advantage plan. They normally cover medical and prescription and the monthly cost could be around $120 a month. A person currently on Medicare can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan once a year during the annual open enrollment from Nov 15th to Dec 31.

--------------------
if they are on a "group policy" through their employer's plan, chances are good that mental health issues are covered. if, however, they are self-employed and have private health insurance, chances are very slim they mental health visits would be covered. maybe you could find out which it is. they will find out that you are seeking help if you go to a psychiatrist because the 'eob' report...explanation of benefits report will be sent to them following any office visit that you may have....see if there is any possible way that you could discuss this with them...if not, talk to a psychiatrist's office that you have in mind and explain the situation. see what kind of feedback he/she might have.

Is medicare considered good health insurance?

how good is medicare compared to an average health insurance plan?
--------------------
Medicare is insurance that you have been paying for all of your working life. In some instances, it pays better than 80/20, and in others it pays less than 80/20. It does not, however come without costs and gaps. If you are enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, it will cost you approx $93 per month in premium. This premium is taken directly out of your social security check - if you are drawing social security. I would not recommend going with Medicare alone. The gaps in coverage can be easily and completely covered if you wish to do so. There are several plan designs to choose from, including managed care plans that can be at no cost to you. The Standard Plan designs A-J have a varying cost, depending on which plan you choose and which insurance company you elect for coverage. The typical cost for this coverage, in the individual market in CT, is around $160 per month per insured. The new Medicare Part D is also something that you will need, as Medicare does not cover prescriptions, generally. These plans can be purchased in the range of $23 to $65 per month. Find a Health Insurance broker who specializes in senior/Medicare plans, or contact AARP.

actually productive within their state for reform like Mass for example? And if they are against federal health reform but are not offering any reform to help their residents how can they prove this is unconstitutional as opposed to forcing people to pay for medicare?
--------------------
Medicare is a government entity paid for by tax dollars. Forcing people to buy a product from a private company is a completely different thing. Can they force you to buy a car from GM? Can they force you to buy apples to keep the price down for others who want them cheaper? There is nothing in the constitution that grants the government the authority to force you to buy somebody else's product. It is an assault on your individual liberty.

father and mother BOTH have the child covered under their separate health insurance plans?

under ca law the fathers insurance is primary due to the fact that he is older . how or could it be possible to have the the mothers insurance primary ?
--------------------
The "birthday law" isn't about AGE, it's about what day of the year the birthday comes FIRST. So clearly, dad's birthday ocurrs earlier in the year than moms. The ONLY way to get mom's policy primary, is to cancel child from dad's policy during the next open enrollment. If the transfer happened, because there wasn't a local in network hospital that could provide a specialty service (like a pediatric nephrologist), you appeal to dad's insurance to have it covered as a medical necessity on an in network basis.

I need phone #'s for Health Insurance companys to assist me in getting a Chiroprator in network.?

I need provider line #'s for the departments doing credentialing for Chiropractors. I'm located in Columbus, Ohio and i need local insurance companies in this area. If anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanks
--------------------
Your question is a little confusing. It almost sounds like you ARE a chiropractor (or work for one), and you'd like to become a network provider for insurance companies in the Columbus, Ohio area? Is that the case? If you're looking to become a network provider for some of the major insurance companies in Columbus, you'd want to contact: Medical Mutual of Ohio (www.medmutual.com), United Healthcare (www.unitedhealthcareonline.com - that's the site for medical providers. www.uhc.com is the general corporate site), Aetna, and Anthem BCBS. Those are some of the insurance companies with the largest membership in Columbus. The websites should have contact links for providers who are interested in applying for the network. There are also other insurers...if you're Medicare and Medcaid certified, you'll want to look into all the managed Medicare/Medicaid plans in Columbus as well. (ODJFS can provide you with a list of the Medicaid plans, you can find the Medicare plans through CMS.) That's a starting point for you, anyhow. You'll have to continue to investigate on your own. I don't have all of my contact info at home, and I can't access this site while at work. :)

She's a great lady, very loving and giving and she REALLY needs a break right now. Parents are elderly, low income. Thanks for any suggestions.
--------------------
Your friend might call the local branch of the American Cancer Society, for some guidance. They may have referral sources for low-income people. Or she might try a major teaching hospital, and see if they have anything to offer. Your friend probably would qualify for the state funded health insurance plan (Medicaid in Pennsylvania) for low income folks, which would allow her to go to any hospital/doctor who accepts Medicaid. Good luck to your friend.

Are cashless health insurance policies still sold by insurance companies in India &accepted by major hospitals?

I have heard there is a controversy among the insurance companies & major hospitals so cashless facilities are not available at the moment? Thanks
--------------------
HARSHfromApnapaisa : Cashless facility is offered by insurance companies to a select list of hospitals that are pre-approved by the Insurance company for this specific purpose. Every insurance company is still offering cashless facility. The controversy that you see in the media was regarding the one time removal of hospitals from the cashless network (the PSU's call them part of their Preferred Provider Network) of the PSU Insurers only unless they accepted the new rate structures put forward by the PSU Insurance companies. The smaller hospitals signed up and are back in the PSU insurers cashless network but the major hospitals are yet to accept the rates laid down by the PSU insurance companies. The matter is currently (as on September 22, 2010) being discussed at the highest levels between the hospitals and insurance companies with the health ministry also being reportedly involved. The cashless network of most private companies continue as before. In fact you can find the current cashless network of each provider on the websites of the individual insurance companies. Please note that for any company there are always some hospitals being added and deleted from the network on a regular basis. This is true for PSU companies as well as private companies. The reason for the ocntroversy was the wholesale removal of hospitals from the cashless facility by the PSU insurers.

It would probably be best to ask these questions of whomever handles benefits for his company. The company may or may not cover him for the difference. COBRA is very expensive so wouldn't be an option if you can't afford the usual amount...how that is handled though, I do not know. Talk to someone in Human Resources since they are the administrators of company benefits.

They have announced that starting next year they will no longer cover family members. We have insurance through blue cross blue shield. Would it be possible to switch to individual coverage? My husband has several health problems and I would want to try to avoid the "pre existing condition" wait period. What are our options? Thanks for your help!
--------------------
Well, if your husband has an employer that offers a group plan, you can switch over to their policy during open enrollment. You're probably not going to have a pre-existing conditon issue if you buy a private policy. That's because either they'll flat out refuse to cover him, or they won't cover the pre-existing conditions, PERIOD. That wait time, is only for a GROUP policy through an employer. You need to get some quotes. I think when you see what the individual policies will cost, you'll find out that it's going to be less expensive, to pay for him, AND GET COVERAGE, through your employer's plan.

Uninsured people, will you buy health insurance or pay the fine in 2014?

I am assuming this issue is very important to you and you have researched the bill.
--------------------
None of the above. I'll let my current insurance lapse and let them try to seize me and my property. If they think they can intimidate us like the thugs they are, let them prove it.

For health insurance & health care experts: How did the health insurance mess in the U.S. start, where, and why?

Once again, this seems to be a big topic with the presidential candidates, but,it's also an old issue. When, where, how, and why did it get to be so out of hand?
--------------------
Health insurance has been around for a long time. Used to be, people paid their own doctor bills and got health insurance only to cover catastrophic events (skiing accidents, cancer, the stuff that generated lots of big medical bills). They paid for it themselves. After WWII, employers looked for ways to get the best employees, and since health insurance was cheap back then (!), decided to offer it as a benefit. To entice and keep good employees, they bought insurance that covered more health care costs, including the routine ones. Now that people didn't have to pay for their own medical costs any more, doctors and hospitals felt free to charge more. After all, insurance was paying, right? Meanwhile, medical science and technology have progressed. We have much more sophisticated tools for diagnosing disease and treating it - but they cost a lot to research, develop, manufacture, etc. People want the best they can get, so now insurance is paying thousands for a knee MRI instead of $100 for a knee x-ray. So they need more money, and premiums go up. Also meanwhile, people are suing frequently for medical malpractice, and they get huge awards. This means the doctors and hospitals must insure themselves in case they're sued, and the costs are $100,000 - $200,000/year for every doctor. To cover that, they up their fees, and insurance must pay more, and the cost ultimately is passed on to us. In response to this, doctors and hospitals are legally required to bend over backward to ensure that nothing goes wrong. This means lots of disposable equipment, from face masks and gloves to paper liners for the examining table, to being unable to reuse an opened bag of something. Also, they will request every conceivable test to make sure they don't miss a diagnosis (to avoid being sued). This drives costs way up. The attempts to control costs have both helped and added to the problem. Managed care (getting surgery, diagnostic tests, procedures, expensive drugs and visits to specialists pre-approved) was intended to limit unnecessary care, but often it prevents patients from getting care they need. Negotiating payment rates for a preferred provider plan means people using the plan have lower medical bills - but those costs are just shifted to people outside the plan, especially to those without any insurance. Please help me understanding my health insurance policy?

I have 500 deductible and my office visits to the non-specialists is 20 copay and deductible waived.. what does this mean... I have asked a question similar to this one.
--------------------
Co-pays are co-pays - they are never subject to your deductible/co-insurance nor do they go toward your maximum out of pocket. Traditionally - co-pays are your cost of that particular covered benefit. The insurance picks up the difference between your co-pay and the contracted rate, between the carrier and the provider. Co-pays are normally used for standard and specialist office visits. You enter into your deductible when ever you are utilizing services that are not covered under a co-payment - Labs, X-ray, in office procedures and hospitalizations etc. Also, keep in mind with most PPO plans, after you have satisfied your deductible you enter into co-insurance - typically 80/20 - meaning the insurance pays 80% of the bills and you pay 20% of the bills until you hit your maximum out of pocket - see your policy for these limits. You will also notice that you may have co-pays for Rx Drugs - this works the same way - the insurance picks up the difference between your co-pay and the contracted rate of the Rx Drug. Hope this helps!

Who offers the best pet health insurance for older dogs?

Is there a waiting period for the plan to be effective? any other additional info will be helpful.
--------------------
There are many great pet insurance plans out there. You should think about how comprehensive you want your plan because some include routine care and dental. Of course, that makes the premiums more expensive and I personally would recommend against it because you don't really get your money's worth. A good company to look into is Trupanion. I have it for my dog, who is a younger dog, but I really like them. I chose them because they don't have annual limits which means you can't max out for one year. Also, you can enroll up to age 14 which is one of the highest (there are many companies that cap out at age 10 or less). Waiting period: typically most companies do have a waiting period, usually one for accidents and one for illnesses. They are a few days up to a few weeks, and this is to keep people from signing up just to make claims and it makes it fair to those who have already enrolled. Check around at some reviews and get free quotes from the companies. Here's a great site to get a quote and look at quotes from other companies side-by-side: http://www.trupanionpetinsurance.com/why…

Pregnant and currently dont have health insurance ?

So we had insurance, was seeing my doc.My husband got out of the navy and the next day no more insurance. He just started his new job and will get insurance in 3 months is it healthy for me not to see a doc till then?
--------------------
How far along are you? If you are healthy and are not at risk, doctors often do not see you for the first time until around 10 weeks in the pregnancy. So if you are really early, it might be ok. If you are in the second or third trimester, I would look at other insurance options and see the doctor. Discuss this with your doctor - they may have options for you. Was he not offered any sort of COBRA plan that he could pay out-of-pocket for until he had coverage at the new employer? Another factor to consider is what is 90 days? At my employer it is 90 days after the first of the month so if today was my first day of work it would be 90 days from January 1 not from today. Best wishes!

Why do I need a Health Insurance agent since I can see all providers' plans on the web and apply online ?

There are web sites where you can input your age, zip code etc. and select from a very comprehensive list of medical plans from almost all providers with the monthly premium shown. You can then select a short list for side by side comparison and apply directly to the health care provider.
--------------------
A good independent agent is the best thing you can have and its FREE. The plan premiums are the same whether you work thru an agent of you buy direct. So whats so good about an agent? #1) All plans have good points and bad points. There are tradeoffs. I can assure you that the customer service dept of XYZ company is not going to go out of theirway to point these things out. For example one plan has unlimited $25 doctor copays...sound great but the fine print on page 13 says only for "family physicians. A good agent gets paid from all companies. He is free to work for you!! He/she understands the big picture with all the products. When you say maternity is important he know exactly what the issues are with all the plans and is not afraid to tell you.

If so, is it enough and do you feel you over pay? If not- what are your concerns about your families health? My hubby is covered @ 1,000 ded...and me and kiddos hav ziltz...I remember when everyone was given great insurance as a perk of the job. Too bad-
--------------------
I have insurance and I feel like I pay through the nose... It's very expensive and my check is pitfully small because of it. I wish that companies would still cover the cost of insurance... My insurance is fine, though I wish there wasn't such a thing as a "deductible" or "out-of-pocket expense"- I think that's crap. My insurance covers myself and my husband and any future children we may have can be added... My husband has a similar insurance benefit which costs only slightly less than mine.

Any suggestions for health insurance for preexisting condition?

I was pregnant and applied for insurance through the state. About two week after I applied, I has a miscarriage. I now have the medical bills from the prenatal care I received and the ER visit from the miscarriage however was denied insurance because my income is to high. Does anyone know where I could go to try and get help in paying for the bills that I received?

Ask your husband or boyfriend to help pay, or your friends and family. You should also ask the hospital, at the very least, to reprice the bills down to a cash price.

Can I get health insurance now because of Obama's health care reform bill?

I'm an unemployed young adult. Just graduated from college. So can I get free health care now? Like Kaiser, Blue Shields, or PacifiCare? Or do only certain health insurers apply?
--------------------
Don't know where you got the idea you can get free health insurance. The has been and will continue to be Medicaid for very low income people for which you may qualify. If you don't qualify, the health care bill will provide subsidies in the form of tax credits to help you pay for health insurance if you make less than 400% of the federal poverty level. This will start in 2014. The way a tax credit works is you pay the entire premium during the year and will receive the subsidy when you file your 2014 taxes. To answer your question - No, you cannot get free health insurance from the companies that you listed, nor from any other company.

If we eventual have universal healthcare, Do you think most companies will not offer health insurance?

I mean they would lose money by offering healthcare through the company. Why would they offer it if there is no competition for recruiting new employees. The Government will have it taken care of.
--------------------
My opinion: If we have universal health care, then the companies offering health care now will drop employees. Health care is the number one expense of a corporation.
Source

Isn't it wonderful how the health care reform is going? The same private insurance benefits that the?

congress has will be offered to all? And we all have the chance to pay health insurance premiums within that pool? What a great idea. Why would anyone be against this? I wonder? More entrepreneurship, more opportunities for small businesses to be able to buy insurance? Why didn't I think of this?

how much do health insurance agents make in florida?

And whats the difference in selling it in florida as opposed to NY?
--------------------
www.salary.com . . . it depends wildly on how long you've been in business. The biggest differences, are that in NY, an insurance company HAS to offer a policy - so prices are a lot higher. And in FL, the population 65 and older - and FL has the highest percentage of those - already have Medicare. Cheaper insurance prices in FL, smaller market.

I am now pregnant and want to change to BCBS 650/m premium (no deductible/20% coinsurance/ max outof pocket 2500/person). Will it be wise to change?? Please advice.

Being already pregnant you will be unable to change unless the BCBS is also a group plan through an employer and you have an open enrollment period which would allow a change. No individual insurance will accept anyone if anyone in the family is currently pregnant.

why should there be more health insurance?

If there was mandated insurance for buying milk, does anyone seriously think the price of milk wouldnt go up? If there was clothing insurance. It would cost about the thousand dollars for a shirt but on the bright side everyone would have a shirt.
--------------------
Finally, someone who understands !!! (besides Ron Paul) Consider this: I was born in 1960. My mother's very nice semi-private hospital room cost $35. Nowadays a night's stay in the hospital would run many hundreds of dollars. That room would, with all the sneaky things they throw in now, would cost at least $600. Now, this is just one example of how medical costs have risen not just dramatically, but horrendously. What is the main reason? HEALTH INSURANCE. Back in the 1970s, everyone started getting "free" health insurance through their employer. If you went to a doctor and did not have health insurance, a lot of doctors would charge you HALF PRICE. Why? Because their "normal" rate was just to get as much money as possible from insurance. So if health insurance was normally just catastrophic insurance, medical rates would plummet.

You can deduct health insurance that you paid only if you itemize you deductions and then the deduction will only be everything you spent on medical, including dentist bills, prescriptions, doctor bills, mileage to and from the doctor or dentist as well as you health insurance premiums over 7 1/2% of your net income. Your itemized deductions needs to be over $5000 if your single for it to be to your advantage to use it, otherwise, you need to file the standard deduction which will have you paying a lower tax.

Is national health insurance good in America?

Would wages and salaries still be falling? After tax wages?
--------------------
Socialized Health Care will not help Americans get better health care. What will happen is that many doctors will leave the places they now work and work at places they can make good money. * Health care quality will go down. * Waiting periods will lengthen. * Choices will dwindle. * Facilities will be clogged with patients using their "free" health care for things like headaches and hang nails. * Non-medical persons will be deciding if you can have a medical procedure done or not. Does this sound good to you? I don't like the idea. Kev

How do the tort laws of countries with national health insurance differ from America's?

--------------------
It varies, but generally countries that have a national health insurance program also have rather generous social welfare systems that take care of those injured by doctors, both in terms of financial remuneration and personal care. Disputes over the amount of compensation or nature of personal care tend to be dealt with through an administrative system rather than an adversarial proceeding.

There are corporate hospitals which are recognized by the state government to treat their employees, through an official agreement between the state government and the hospital. The concerned state government department usually issues a 'credit letter' to the employee, which when submitted at those recognized hospitals entitles the employee to free treatment. Also, the employee can pay upfront in the hospital and go for reimbursement with the state government later. However the amount reimbursed may be lesser than what is being charged by the hospital. To know which all hospitals are recognized by the state government, you call the hospital on phone and enquire or visit their websites. The Aftermath Inc. - An Indian Citizen.

--------------------
Buying individual health insurance can get pretty complicated as we get older for a variety of reasons. Couple of approaches you might want to consider: 1. Shop online. In California the site I prefer is Insurance Neighborhood (http://www.InsuranceNeighborhood.com ). Outside of California there's www.QuickQuote.com or eHealthinsurance. 2. Find an Independent Agent. Even better, talk to an agent who focuses on individual health insurance. A local, qualified agent will know the health plans available in your community and has the expertise to help you zero in on the two or three that will work best for you. A good agent can save you money; a bad one can waste your money. Insurance Neighborhood requires agents in their network to sign a service commitment, get letters of recommendation, and the like. But again, they're only available in California for now. You can also find good agents from their national trade association. Just go to http://www.NAHU.org, click on the Consumer Information tab and the click on the "Find an Agent" link. When selecting an agent, you may want to make sure they represent multiple health plans, have experience working with clients in situations similar to yours, and can give you references to a few of their other clients. There's definitely good and affordable health insurance policies for folks in their 60s. So good hunting.

At my employer it is 90 days after the first of the month so if today was my first day of work it would be 90 days from January 1 not from today. Best wishes!

Do you have health insurance from your employer?

--------------------
Ask your husband or boyfriend to help pay, or your friends and family. You should also ask the hospital, at the very least, to reprice the bills down to a cash price.

I wonder where people got the idea that they have the right to health insurance?

I've read the Constitution, and I can't find it anywhere. I know you have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Would you also think that would give you the right to be stupid, make stupid decisions, think stupid thoughts, and PAY THE PRICE for those thoughts, and decisions? Am I wrong here? Why?
--------------------
Because we give them food, housing, utilities, etc. so they automatically think they are entitled to everything else. It's getting more and more difficult to support a family these days for those of us that try to provide for our own family. My step-sister says they can't afford insurance but they have a nice big house, two large SUVs, a four wheeler, boat, etc. They just don't want to afford it, they would rather have toys. We can't afford toys because we're paying for food and health insurance for our family. The example we're setting is much better than the example she's setting though.

in canada, where can i get the best health insurance?

currently unemployed, so have no health coverage, and have some dental work to take care of.. cleaning and several cavities! so nothing too serious, maybe an insurance that also covers the occasional massage would be nice.. ahah would love some information about company names and their offers if possible.... looking for something short term, monthly possibly? or at most an annual rate? whats the average these days anyways? would it just be cheaper to pay for it all myself? thanks! and all the best!
--------------------
Depends on your age, smoking status, gender, and what kind of coverage you need. You should expect to pay at least $50-$100 min a month for it. Of course, its worth pointing out that you can claim a non-refundable tax credit on your income taxes for the premiums paid.

why are diabetics turned down for health insurance?

i had a fasting glucose test and my BS result was slightly elevated. since this is pre-diabetes will this be in my medical record and could this cause me to lose my insurance?
--------------------
Another factor (besides just testing strips/meter etc) is all the expenses that come with the many diabetics who don't manage their blood sugar and end up blind or needing amputations. It's very expensive later in life if not well-managed earlier. You cannot be dropped from your current health carrier and if you are, you can sue.

How much more do women pay for pay for health insurance than men?

Is it alot more?
--------------------
It depends on the age. On average women between 25-45 (child bearing years) can pay double. From 45-55 its about equal and after 55 men begin to pay more. This is from actual actuarial tables at a major insurance company. Some companies get a person premium rate from their broker where this is not broken down, It is factored in to their quotes.

Do WWE wrestlers have health Insurance?

I am curious to know ifthe WWE wrestlers have health insurance, please only answer if you know. Don't just guess.
--------------------
No, due to the fact there's no "union" in professional wrestling. They must pay for their own health insurance. When Jesse Ventura ran into problems with WWF management (concerning Ventura's plans to form a wrestlers' union, similar to those found in other sports and fields of entertainment) he was released from his WWF duties. Vince McMahon is one of the true "monopolizers" in the history of the "entertainment" business. Really is quite a tough business, whether fake or not. To be putting your body at risk 300 some days, on the road constantly; then to not have the job security, or a union to fall back on makes it quite a crap-shoot. Not to mention, the lifestyles many of them live on the road, you can imagine why so many guys in our generation (80s-90s) have already died. You also have to wonder, due to the nature of their work, they must pay a hefty fee for health insurance coverage. Wouldn't surprise me if some of the guys are even covered at all. So imagine being an "indie" wrestler, who draws little to no income doing a show, who gets injured during a show, so it's quite a business to attempt to get into, with such consequences and very little reward, and rare if it ever happens at all.

Best health insurance for young single people?

I'm looking for informaiton about health insurance for a single, young man...he is 27. Are there any affordable policies out there that may provide minimal coverage (annual well visit, a couple sick visits, one prescription, some emergency?)
--------------------
Since he is young and presumably healthy and is mainly protecting against major medical expenses, I recommend enrolling in a "qualified" High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). This is health insurance with high deductible amounts, so it costs less than traditional health insurance. Under federal law, the minimum deductible in a HDHP plan is $1,100 for an individual and the maximum is $5,500. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium. The advantage of an HDHP is that he can shelter up to $2,850 a year from state and federal taxes in a Health Savings Account (HSA). Depending on his tax bracket and where he lives, that could save him as much as $2,971 in taxes per year, assuming a combined tax rate of 52.6%—9.3% in state income tax (California), 28% in federal income tax, and 15.3% in self-employment Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax. Another way of looking at it is that the HSA doubles his buying power, since he is using pre-tax dollars to pay for things. The contributions he makes to an HSA are his to keep, rolling over each year. The funds are not taxed, provided he uses them to pay medical expenses or withdraw them after age 65. The funds earn interest on a tax-deferred basis. Think of it as an IRA that he can use to pay out-of-pocket medical expenses. To find a qualified plan, he should speak with a health insurance broker. A broker works with several insurers and can find the best plan, rates and coverage. To find a broker, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote. Your information will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you. Good luck!

I don't have money for health insurance, what can I do?

I am a very healthy person, and rarely need a doctor or a dentist. I am 31 years old, non smoker, non drinker and live in Michigan. The only thing that I might need someday is coverage in case I have to go to the emergency room because I broke a bone or something like that. Is there a way to get free health insurance? ps. My wife works but I don't want her to pay for it.
--------------------
YES, oh course you can get free insurance. you should get on public aid they will provide you with good doctor. I'm currently on it right now because since im pregnant no one wants to hire me and its important that i have insurance. My husband works but his insurance is just enough to cover only him. You should look into it right away, you dont want to have high hospital bills and regret it later. GOOD LUCK

Why do conservatives think that people who can't afford health insurance should just suffer and die quietly?

Well cons? Stick to the question please. I don't want to see any smart-alec answers involving our president Barack, or other Democrats.
--------------------
Because most Conservatives, are easily manipulated sheep who vote for leaders & initiatives that essentially dig their graves for them Like when they voted to support unlimited contributions to campaigns from Corporations. The Conservative movement is about 10% Rich & Educated (but mostly rich) people, and 90% people who are manipulated into doing things that keep that 10% rich. How much is your health insurance premium?

From the moment we became a family of 4 in 2/07 the monthly premium was $1,357.64 It is as of last pay-stub on 12/09 $1,689.98 This includes my contributions as well as those of my employer
--------------------
$1300.00 monthly and going up to $1400.00 next month. Family of 4. Some of these kids here don't see the full premium sheet when they sign up for their health insurance. They just see their costs - when, if they scrolled their eyes down a bit they'd see what families are paying. Or they are on their parents health insurance. So, when we say that we are paying $1400.00 per month they have no concept of how that could be so!

If you have no health insurance and you need an operation?

can a hospital deny you care? Can they put a lien on your home if you can't pay the hospital bill?
--------------------
In US jurisdictions hospitals are not allowed to deny basic emergency care to sexual assault victims, pregnant women in labor, and those for whom denial of care would likely result in death or serious injury. (Hospitals without emergency departments --- such as most psychiatric facilities -- are exempt,of course.) As to extent of the emergency care, it is generally held to mean at least "stabilize and transfer". Beyond that, they most certainly CAN deny treatment, and can do whatever is necessary and lawful to secure payment for services. So -- the answer to both of your questions is YES.

Why does president Bush want to veto a bill to make sure all children have health insurance?

and why is he paying blackwater international while they are not running missions in iraq?
--------------------
I may be wrong, and not trying to provoke any bad statements. However I beleive the increase of funds was not intended to put children of well to do families say $82,000 and up on government insurance but is to cover more eligible children, and families that currently they are not able to take care of. Those families that are working good paying jobs, most already have good employer, and employee paid insurance already. So to me this idea that they will join government paid insurance does not add up. Our usa has paid at least close to $600 billion dollars and more to come !!!! on the Iraq invasion. With little or no talk what soever of what is being cut in our deserving u.s. citizens tax paid benefits to divert these huge funds to a needless occupation. Well folks, the bills are coming due !!! The money being alloted almost $200 billion every three months for bombs and bullets does not grow on trees. I think the idea of taxing cigarettes was a poor choice of finding funds... Who on earth would tax a system of death and addiction as cigarettes to promote funds for life giving insurance? While the bill does have some good and bad sides. It was a poor choice to choose cigarrettes. Surely they could find some other way to find funds. Hmmmm $35 billion for needed child insurance for the future of our country, or $ 200 billion for bombs and continued war and death. ?????? Which will it be ????

Is Clomid covered by most health insurance providers?

Does anyone know the estimated cost for someone with health insurance?
--------------------
I found one article (link below) that cited a survey showing that 44 percent of private insurers and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans cover clomid and 67 percent of HMOs cover clomid. However, I could not locate the original survey and it is from 1993, so the data is probably obsolete. I would think that it's gotten easier to receive infertility treatment under your insurance plan since 1993, though. The International Council on Infertility Information Dissemination has a page (link below) on possible insurers that will cover infertility treatments (through employers). What do you do if you don't have health insurance?

I need to have some dental surgeries done and I don't have the money to pay for them. My wisdom teeth are growing in and pushing my other teeth out of the way. It is very painful and ruining my teeth. How do you pay for something like this if you are a 21 year old college student with no money and no parents?
--------------------
Health Insurance CAN pay for wisdom teeth to come out, but it depends on the circumstances. I just had a client with Aetna pay to get them out. However, you don't have health insurance so it's too late for you. You need to pay out of pocket. You can also contact a dental school to see if you can get it on the cheap. When it's done go get some health insurance. It's not expensive and it's not nearly as expensive as needing it and not having it.

Will there be any consequence for the health insurance deductions or benefits that we receive through the health insurance company? Also, how could a health insurance company find out about the motorcycle in the first place?
--------------------
No. It is against the law for them to base your rates on activities unless you turn in repeated claims for related injuries. Turn in claims on your motorcycle policy, NOT your health Insurance.
