Can you cancel easily health insurance should you quit your job?

The terms and agreements say that the enrollment will continue until you retire and also if you are in financial hardship, but what about if you quit your job? Is it hard to get rid of health insurance if you quit?
--------------------
No it's not hard to get rid of health insurance if you quit. The premium is taken out each month from your paycheck. Once you quit and the termination notice is sent in, your health insurance is stopped at the end of that period. They will usually send you some papers to see if you want to sign up for a Cobra Health Plan (an extended health insurance where you pay the total premium). You don't have to accept it.

Does anyone know how much the government's health insurance will cost per month for families?

Does anyone know how much the government's health insurance will cost per month for families? Everyone for the bill is so happy because they finally get affordable insurance, but I have yet to hear how much they will really be saving compared to private insurers? Thanks!

Where can I get health insurance for my daughter?

She is 3 1/2 years old and she has had hypothyroidism since birth. She has been denied by IHC Select Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield through individual plans. And we no longer qualify for Medicaid or CHIP because our income level is too high. So unless my husband has benefits through work where they can't deny her (which he doesn't have at the time), we have been unable able to find insurance for her. Does any one have a solution?
--------------------
Call your doctor's office and ask the nurse or Office Manager if there is a solution to your problem. Also, call or go to your local public hospital and ask if there is free or low-cost program for your daughter.

Is there a law in NYS that says all health insurance companies are obligated to pay for a home birth?

I am having a home birth and want to find out if my health insurance company is obligated to pay. When I call them, they give me no answers. (Empire Blue Cross) Someone told me there was a law that in NY all insurance companies were obligated to pay for home birth.
--------------------
Nope. And here in TX, they aren't, either. I looked into it - wanting a home birth with my last baby. See, they have "in network" providers. My insurance company - Cigna - just doesn't HAVE any in network midwives (in HOUSTON, TX, the 4th largest city in the USA!). They WOULD pay for a midwife in a birthing center - just not in a home. Unfortunately, here in TX, birthing centers are not allowed to do vbacs. It's a racket. They COULD have paid $3000 for all my prenatal and delivery - instead, they've got bills for over $15,000 for a C-section again, as the hospitals don't like to wait for women to labor (time is money!).

What are my friend's legal obligations to his ex-wife with regards to health insurance?

My friend is seeking divorce, but has covered his wife's health insurance for 20 years. She has been told she is virtually uninsurable. What are his legal obligations to her for coverage?
--------------------
Gotta love America and the "unisurable". Anyways, I know the wife should be eligable for COBRA benefits once she is removed from the insurance. She will have the option of paying for those benefits monthly until she is able to find new insurance...or until it expires. Not sure if he will be required to pay any of those benefits. I don't think he would be...only way would be alomony and then she could use that money for benefits. You should consult a lawyer to be sure. Good luck!

When you get a personal injury settlement, does part of it go to reimbursing your health insurance company?

For example, I went through physical therapy due to injuries sustained from an auto accident. My health insurance company paid for the physical therapy. Once the claim is settled, will part of the amount of the settlement be used to reimburse my health insurance company for the physical therapy?
--------------------
Depends on your health insurance policy wording and whether or not they make it a practice to seek reimbursement. They may have already put a lien on the settlement. This is not something we can answer for certain, you will have to find out from your HEALTH insurance company. In my claims experience the only companies I saw try for recovery were government (medicaid and medicare) or self-insured companies.

How is it Constitutional for the government to punish people for not purchasing health insurance?

If I'm understanding the new Health Care reform right, the government will essentially force people to get insurance. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand the value of insurance, but how can they force it on someone?

What was the first Health Insurance company?

Can anyone tell me who established the first Health Insurance company in the USA and in what year it was established? Thank you.

Blue Cross is the oldest insurance company. It was founded in 1929 for teachers in Texas. Blue Shield was founded a few years later. The first HMO was Kaiser Permanente, and it was founded in 1945.

What is a good job to get for a full time student who needs group health insurance coverage?

The only skill I really have is music. I've been a manager for a few years but I dont want to try and do that and go to school full time. I would like something where I could study on the job. Something low stress. Something that offers good health insurance. I will have an associates degree in math or music or english (my choice after I finish spanish) in the summer. What do you think?

What do you think with happen with the SCHIP health insurance thing Obama passed?

Do you think that income limits to qualify for this type of insurance will increase? We are just over the requirements and can't afford health insurance for our babies. My daughter has kidney reflux and our son also has concerning medical issues.... I am REALLY hoping this would help us out! Any thoughts?

This administration is really concerned about the number of uninsured people in this country. I don't know what state you live in....but keep an eye on how your representatives vote on these issues with the first link below. The second link explains H.R. 2 Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009. Good luck...

Where can I find a basic comparison of the the major health insurance companies?

I am a financial adviser. I am looking for a chart or spreadsheet that compares the major group health insurance companies. I dont need quotes just the basic things that are covered or not covered by each carriers average plans.
--------------------
The problem is insurance plans can differ form state to state so you would have to find this for the state(s) you do business in. You really need to build a relationship with a broker that works in your area. They would have the knowledge you are looking for.

How much does your health insurance cost per year?

Yes, this is a political question! So, what is the cost? I am not asking what it costs YOU; I'm asking what amount of money is paid in total to the insurance company to cover you and your family. What you pay, and what your employer pays, combined. Do you have any idea? Are there any other things you buy that you have no idea what the cost is? Do you think the fact that people are so insulated from the actual costs of health services causes the distortions in the market that result in such high prices and costs? Do you think consumer-based, rather than government-based, solutions, like medical savings accounts and more realistic tax treatment of employer-purchased benefits (treating it as taxable income and giving people an offsetting tax deduction or benefit) would be a better solution to people's present concerns? Thanks.
--------------------
I know exactly what mine is, since I pay it, and it is a lot...but I would rather pay a lot than have the government run my healthcare.

I own a small business, what are my options in California for affordable health insurance?

What I'd really like to know is, if there are some of you out there who own their own business, how much are you paying monthly for health insurance? I need to cover my wife and 2 kids and not having insurance doesn't seem to be working. Is AFLAC good?
--------------------
Aflac is indeed a summplement insurance plan.. What I currently have is AmeriPlan USA... I started off with one of their plans... liked it used it.. and then found out I could tell others about it and get a commission off of it as well! so I thought why not!.. so you can check them out at ameriplanusa.com.. they have been around for 16 years..and are a discount for a service health benefits company.. so it's not like normal insurance where you wait forever.. and only have limited visits where you pay 50 dollars a time. you can use it as much as you like, as often as you like or as little as you like. The price is right.. just a dental plan is $19.95 a month, Basic health is 30 per month per household..and total health is 40 a month per household..and that includes medical dental, vision, prescription drugs, chiropractic, lab work, braces... everything health related. even cosmetic surgery you get discounts on! I have 2 kids under two.. and they get ear infections about once a month. so what I do is..every time they go to the doctor..with ameriplan they give you 40-60% off the visit.. then you get 25-50% off the prescriptions.. and one visit is less than the normal monthly ins. premium for a family of 4. you can also go to any hospital of your choice..and anything over $2500, ameriplan has a advocate work with the hospital and gets that bill lowered for you as much as possible.. (usually over 50% off).. and then you can pay off that bill interest free over the next 1-4 years.. (that's what I did when I had a baby 6 months ago...) So if this interest you.. please visit the site.. and my contact info is under the contact section.. i'd be happy to talk to you further about the coverage and how the discounts work.. anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. central time.. of course.. cause my babies need sleep! I sure hope this helps.. my family is in the same boat..my husband doesn't get coverage through his employer.

Letter template to a health insurance company of a business address change?

I work in a medical office and we are changing location and phone numbers I need to send a letter to all the health insurance companies that we deal with a letter stating our changes. Our tax identification number will remain the same just our physical address and our phone number. Any suggestions on a professional letter to write with the changes?

a simple letter is stating you are moving locations and include your old address and phone number and the new ones. make sure to include your tin, so they can update their records correctly. the simpler the better.

Is it possible to put my mom on my health insurance?

Are there any jobs out there in which I can have a parent covered on my health insurance or is it only covered for your own children? What type of insurance (if any) would cover for that type of situation. Serious answers please--this is to help my sick mother.
--------------------
Yes, it is very possible; but whether you would save lots of money is up to your talent: * contact your company's Human Resources and ask for assistance first (under which clause, you can do so etc.) * contact your health insurance company and negotiate for a better policy for her. It could be that adding her into your policy WITH MUCH HIGHER DEDUCTIBLE in hospitalization + ER (= for cheaper premium) Do shop around and compare: buying her a stand alone policy with similar benefit mentioned above (up to her health condition: if she needs prescription, then try to minimize this out of pocket expenses etc.). For your mother who is being ill; it is best to negotiate for: * reasonable co-pay per doctor visit (= pay nothing or about $20) * reasonable prescription charge (= pay $5 per prescription per 30 day supplies max; or else ask the doctor to write prescription in such a way Wal-Mart can fill for $4 to $8 / month max) * high deductible to hospitalization (say $1,000 per incident co-pay; insurance pay the rest) * $200 per ER visit co-pay. Work backwards: ask the physician, the hospital your mother uses for what insurance company is best for her; then deal it with your current Health Insurance company. SHOP SHOP NEGOTIATE NEGOTIATE but must do it very fast, before the real needs arise.
