How do I find out if my health insurance will cover laser therapy to quit smoking?

OK I am 20 yrs old still under my mom's health insurance. I have been smoking since I was 16. Now I want to quit. I have a friend that did laser therapy to quit and she says it the greatest thing she ever did. I want to know does laser therapy actually work and I don't know how to figure out if the health insurance will cover laser therapy to quit smoking.

What are some affordable Health Insurance Options in NYC for Latin American father and his child to be?

My friend doesn't have health insurance and is planning on putting his new baby (born around Oct.) on his policy with him. He's Latin American and has his permanent residence card, but is not yet a citizen. Anyone know of any affordable plans for him to look into in the Manhattan area?

How does the new health care reform bill being passed effect my existing health insurance?

I already have health insurance. I have "Cover Florida Plan II" through Blue Cross Blue Shield. Will I just keep paying for my insurance like nothing happened? I am happy with my insurance and I don't plan on changing it, unless I have to for some reason.
--------------------
It will stay the same for the time being. As soon as the insurance companies are mandated to accept pre-existing conditions the premium will drastically increase. This will happen sometime this year. Most of the rest of the bill, except for the new taxes, won't take effect until 2014 so little else will change until then.

How do I get health insurance for my dog?

I'm looking into buying a dog and checking out different pet health insurance agencies. Is it worth it? How much does it usually cost for a healthy puppy/dog?
--------------------
When you first get a dog, you will probably be told by several people that you need to buy dog pet insurance. However you may not be at all clear as to exactly why you need it, especially if you haven't owned a dog before and are aware of the situation. The cost varies with the type of dog and the age, shop around but i know my dog insurance policy has had a battering in the last two years and they paid out over two thousand pounds , thank god for my policy! LOL If there is one reason for having dog pet insurance that you had already thought of, it is probably health insurance. That is, insurance to cover your vet's bills if your dog is sick, or injured in an accident. It's most unlikely that your dog will go through his whole life without a single disease or injury, and nowadays just one treatment can cost literally thousands of pounds. Dog pet insurance policies vary enormously as to what level of cover they provide for vet treatment, so you need to compare them carefully and see what best meets your needs. However, there are several other reasons why it is important to take out dog pet insurance. Some of these may not have occurred to you if you haven't had a dog before. ? If your dog causes a motor accident, for instance by running out into the road, you will need insurance to cover you for legal advice and compensation payment. You are responsible for what your dog does, so the other party will sue you. If a serious injury is involved, the compensation could be huge. ? Similarly, you can be sued if your dog bites someone, e.g. a postal or other delivery worker, or a neighbour. Of course, you need to keep your dog under control and train him not to bite people, as it would also result in him being put down. ? If you have to be hospitalised and there is nobody to care for your dog, your dog pet insurance can pay for boarding kennels (if you have a policy that specifically includes this). The policy won't pay for putting your dog into kennels while you go on holiday! However, if you have booked a holiday and your dog is sick or injured at the last minute, preventing you from going, you can have a policy that covers the cost of cancelling your holiday. ? If your dog is lost or stolen, dog pet insurance can pay for advertising and rewards. Some policies will also cover replacement – some will even pay for bereavement counselling! ? If your dog is hard to control, is disobedient or has other behaviour problems, a dog pet insurance policy can pay for advice and help from a dog training expert or a dog behaviour therapist. Of course, many of these things may never happen – and you certainly hope they won't. But sometimes they do, and it's a good idea to consider right at the outset how you would cope if any of these things did happen. There are a number of good reasons for having dog pet insurance, but the most important one of all is – peace of mind.

How do I get health insurance in Canada if I am not yet a Permanent Resident qualifying for OHIP?

I am a US citizen living in Ontario waiting for my permanent residency to be approved. I would like to purchase health insurance to cover me for the time period until I am approved for the Ontario Health coverage. I don't see this period being more than a year. Are there any companies that offer health insurance to non-Canadian permanent resident in the immigration process? I also do not yet have a SIN number.

You buy private health insurance. You are usually expected to wait outside Canada for a visa and tourists have to be out after six months. Are you legal in Canada.

What kind of health insurance should I get for my family?

The health insurance i get from my job sucks, I'm paying $500 out of pocket per month. My wife and I are both young, barely go to the doctor if at all. The only reason I have insurance is for my 10-month old son's vaccinations and such. There must be a better type of insurance for me to get, any recommendations?

My family has Cariten. I love it. My husbands appendix recently burst and spent a week in the hospital and we only have to pay around $300 bucks out of a $22,000 bill we racked up.

What's the best health insurance company not tied to a single location?

I'm a travelling sales person with multiple mailing addresses. What location in the United States has the best health insurance rates and best health care? I'm in my mid 30's, non-smoker, healthy.
--------------------
You only have ONE legal residence, where you register to vote and file your taxes. That's the state where you buy your insurance from. You need to talk to a local broker, who can find a carrier in YOUR state, who will cover you out of state, also. You probably won't be able to do this yourself (without spending hundreds of hours researching), and you shouldn't buy online, anyway.

How can I get health insurance for my family member?

My little cousin has absolutely no health insurance, and he has never even been to the dentist. Right now, he really needs extensive dental work. Unfortunately, his parents are ill-equipped to help in this situation, and he is not old enough to get his own insurance (nor is he old enough to work). Basically, it's impossible for his parents to get insurance for him, so I want to help him myself. Since I am not his parent, and our slight age difference makes it impossible for me to pretend to be his parent, I don't see how I can put him on my insurance. He doesn't really speak to his parents, so that makes it even more difficult to coordinate anything with them. I don't make that much money, so I couldn't possibly pay for the work solely out of my pocket. Some sort of financial assistance is simply a must. What can I do to help pay for this dental work?
--------------------
I'm not sure whether you can include your cousin on your health insurance; you should call your insurance company, your state insurance office (link below), or a local insurance agent (link below) if you'd rather not talk with the company. I do know that the definition of "dependent" has changed lately regarding health insurance. Some states have extended the eligible age and others have broadened who can have dependents on their health insurance (grandparents, for example). As for financial assistance, I've included several links that might be of use. Some free clinics also provide dental services, so that would be a free or discounted option (also try searching for your county's health department. The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), offers health insurance for kids, although you might have to get the parents involved. Insure Kids Now is a Web site where you can look for state-sponsored insurance programs, many of which include dental coverage. The American Academy of Pediatrics has a resource page to help promote children's access to health care, and you might also want to try contacting the American Dental Association to see if they have any dentists that do pro bono work in your area. Hope this helps. It's touching that you want to help out your cousin. Barnes@MostChoice

Who should verify health insurance coverage and if procedures are approved?

In Illinois (and the entire US, possibly), who is responsible for verifying health insurance coverage (if doctor is in-network) and if any procedures done (echo, stress test, blood draws, etc) are covered? Should it be the patient or the doctor's office? Shouldn't dealing with the professionals in the insurance company be done by professionals in the doctor's office, instead of the patient who sometimes does not understand half of how the health system works?
--------------------
It's your health, and your bank account that will be affected, so you should be the one checking the coverage and procedure approvals. You don't have to understand how the entire health system works, you just should be capable of asking an insurance care representative, or your HR representative, whether procedures are covered, and how much.

Is expanded health insurance coverage the answer to the health care issue in our country?

I've seen some of the proposals by the presidential candidates advocating expanded health insurance coverage. Is this subsidizing health insurance companies? Are companies that are in business for a profit the best means for health care?
--------------------
Just expanding the system is not the answer as the system is bloated and inefficient. We need to have more efficient choices in our health care. There was a system which I saw proposed in California where smaller clinics would be opened up in strip malls and community centers. Staffed by Nurse practitioners and Physicians assistants and working in consort with doctors, they would be allowed to take care of simple illnesses and injuries that clog the emergency rooms now. The cost savings alone would more than make up for the initial cash outlay to start the clinics up.
Source

How do the candidates expect to make everyone buy health insurance?

Health insurance costs are extraordinary, Hillary and OBama want to force people to buy health insurance (and subsidize the costs for some) but they fail to address the reasons health insurance is so expensive. Medical malpractice insurance costs doctors more than most people make a year, and Insurance companies answer to their stockholders before their customers are two of the main reasons it is so expensive. It seems that insurance companies are the ONLY winners in the field of medicine. The democrat solutions to the "health care crisis" only masks the problem.
--------------------
The problem I have with this is taxes. Where is the money going to come from, me the middle class. The middle class is what keep this country running. Besides, do you think this plan will really benefit all? Will this stop hospitals from closing their doors because illegals immigrants and American trash that go to the emergency room every time they have a cold and they never pay the bill resulting th the hospital having to eat the loss. Read up: 13 hospitals shut down in California as a direct result. Furthermore, this type of heath coverage will result in lower pay for doctors which will go elsewhere for higher paying jobs. The quality will drop and then we will be like Canada who has waiting list for surgeries and people dying as a result. this is madness and we shouldn't elect Hillary or Obama as a direct result.

How should I start going to the doctor - Received Health Insurance after 7 years with none?

An odd question, but stay with me: I haven't had any health insurance for 7 years. Now, finally with a wonderful new job, my excellent health insurance benefits start tomorrow. There is so much that I need. When should I go to the doctor? I'm posititive they will find little things that I have had for a long time, but done nothing about - will they determine it to be a pre-exsisting condition? I mean, if I go the first day of my insurance, they will know that I had this medical condition before my insurance was in place - does that make a difference? I don't know how it works. Thanks!
--------------------
Most group plans will consider something to be a pre-existing condition only if you've seen a doctor or received medical treatment for that condition within the past 6-12 months. Unless you've seen a doctor your plan should cover you with no problems.

Where can i get individual health insurance for me and my daughter that also covers pregnancy in connecticut?

I need to get health insurance for me and my 1 year old daughter. I am planning on becoming, or possibly already am pregnant but need insurance for us. Any help? This is in CT, so it is a state that does not require individual policies to cover pregnancy.
--------------------
There are many web sites online that offer health insurance quotes you can compare with no obligation. Some health insurance plans may include coverage for pregnancy. You want to check with the plan when requesting your quotes. Ask about pre-existing conditions coverage in the health plan and how your coverage and deductibles are applied to pregnancy - What exactly is covered. This way you won't be surprised when you need the coverage during your pregnancy. You want to make sure you understand the coverages offered, coverage limits, deductibles, co-pays, and exclusions for any pre-existing conditions. Try this site http://free-health-quote.blogspot.com/ Here you can get quotes from different health insurance companies in your area, its the best way to find an individual health insurance with a reliable company. How much does health care insurance cost in America?

Im planning on moving to America with my 2 children to live with my boyfriend, can anyone tell me how much health insurance costs?
--------------------
Oh, dear, love. You are in for a big surprise. Your boyfriend needs to be employed by a large company to obtain the best health care coverage in America. If he does, ask about the company and/or insurance company's policy on domestic partners. It is entirely up to the company and/or insurance policy whether or not you and your children qualify. If you do not, you will need to get married soon in order to qualify to be on his plan, or purchase an individual policy for you and your children, which will run you approx. $300 USD or much more, depending on what coverage you select. There is no nationalized health care in the U.S., so each and every time you visit the doctor - even with insurance - you will be paying something. Without insurance, a standard doctor's visit with prescriptions will cost you hundreds of dollars. Have a good long talk with your boyfriend about this, and I'm sure you will come up with the right solution. The sites below can help if you will need to apply for individual health insurance.

How does the health insurance work in the UK?

Is there a government health insurance for every employee in the UK? How much do you pay per year? Is it deducted from your paycheck? Can you get additional health insurance? Are vision and dental usually included as a benefit from your employer? I am moving to the UK and would like to know a bit more about what to expect. Thank you!
--------------------
The NHS (National Health Service) is either free or very cheap: the idea is that everyone can use it. Although the UK is a wealthy country, the NHS has many issues: if you have an accident, you could find yourself waiting for much longer than you expect to get surgery or an examination. There are lots of delays and some misdiagnosises, but the doctors are very good, and carry out very complex surgeries very efficiently. If you can afford it, there is private insurance, and different clinics range in insurance price, and there is travel insurance. I'm only 15 so I'm still not entirely sure how it works, but this is a basic overview. Hope this helps.

Will my Health Insurance sue the father of my baby for pregnancy-related expenses?

I am 7 months pregnant, and my partner and I are not married for complicated reasons and will not be married when the baby is born. I recently heard that my insurance company (through my employer) might sue him for medical expenses related to the pregnancy (he doesn't have health insurance). Is this true? Has this happened to any of you?
--------------------
No. The health insurance company you have through your employer will not sue your boyfriend for medical expenses related to the pregnancy. All of the prenatal care is considered your medical expense, not the baby's. And, of course, your own insurance policy is going to cover your own medical expenses. (As long as maternity is covered on your policy, of course.) The delivery and hospital charges should be considered under your policy too. Presuming that you plan to add the baby to your medical coverage at work, you'll want to complete the necessary paperwork with your employer within 31 days of the baby's birth.

How much health insurance coverage do I get as a military spouse?

I am a newly married Air Force wife. I am currently enrolled for TriCare North Standard coverage for health insurance. Does anybody out there have TriCare North Standard coverage and know what the whole package is like? I heard that if i go to any military base medical facility, all my medical coverage would be free. What if I were to have a doctor's appointment off-base? Also, does this cover dental costs too? I am just trying to fully grasp what me insurance does and does not cover so I can be prepared in the future.
--------------------
if you have Standard you have co pays and a deductable. only PRIME is completely free when seen on base/ In network Proividers. and using the base Pharmacy. to be seen off base it must be your assigned Primary Care Manager or your PCM must have referred you to a specialist. Dental is comepletly seperate has a monthly cost plus co pays of up to 80%. 2 cleanings( 6 months apart) and one exam and set of xrays are fully covered per year.

How do health insurance deductibles work?

Basically, I'm looking to get new health insurance (my work insurance blows) and I have a choice between one that is $180 per month but with a 1,000 deductible and one that is $480 and has no deductible.
--------------------
Well, the deductible is how much you pay of covered services, BEFORE the insurance kicks in. So, you pay for the first 5-6 doctor visits, or the first couple of emergency room visits, or the first broken arm, etc, whatever adds up to $1,000, BEFORE the insurance pays one dime. If you don't see the doctor often, you'll be ahead of the game in three months.

What kind of health insurance do you need for cosmetic dentistry?

Im thinking about getting veneers when I return home from my deployment, and tricare prime doesn't cover cosmetic dentistry. What kid of health insurance do I need to actually get the procedure done?
--------------------
No insurance will cover cosmetic procedures. The only time an insurance may pay for it is, if your front teeth have a a major defect. Then the procedure should be pre-approved by the insurance by sending a pre-determination and narrative to the insurance. The dental office would have to do that for you. Tricare Prime is your medical coverage, United Concordia covers the dental portion. If you are active duty, you will not have United Concordia at this time.

What kind of health insurance plans do college and professional sports teams get?

Do the athletes themselves have to make copayments and such as that for their own surgeries, doctor visits, etc. like the rest of us do? What about the coaches? Is it the same for them? If I can get some answers from anyone who has worked with health insurance, good!
--------------------
I worked for a large insurance company that happened to provide benefits to 2 NFL teams and 1 MLB team. However, the players themselves were not covered by the "team" policy - I think that the NFL player's union coordinates the benefit plan for the actual players and their families. (like how other large unions coordinate benefit plans for union members) The coverage we provided was for employees of the organizations who would not have been members of the players union, and also - in the case of the baseball team - the minor league players. But, in general, the sports teams that we covered (minus the players) had better than average benefits, compared to some of the other companies who had coverage through us. I'd suspect that the players have pretty good coverage too, because job performance is so closely related to their health.
