What shows up on my parents' health insurance bill?

I'm 18 yrs old and I'm still on my parents' health insurance since I'm a full time college student. I was wondering if birth control pills would show up on their bill, also things like std tests would show up.
--------------------
Pills do not show up on medical bills unless you're getting them from a hospital. Where are you getting them? If you visit your doctor and got a prescription then nothing will show up. You just get your pills and pay for them at the pharmacy. STDs will not show up if you have them, only the blood tests you get will show up

Why do states support mandatory auto insurance but not health insurance?

Could it be that they are looking out for the insurance industry because they make a lot of money in auto insurance and then pay back the politicians and afraid of health insurance because it may cut into their profits?

No.

my mother is coming to the US for the first time she is 61. How can I provide health insurance for her?

She is a permanent resident with no work history in the US. What type of health insurance and benefits apply to her? Will she be eligible for Medicare/Medicaid benefits? I was wondering if there is anybody out there with the same experience. How did they deal with any medical problems. How do I start the process?
--------------------
You can't. She's going to be a cash payer. Medicare is for people over 65, who've paid enough in to the social security system, to be eligible for social security benefits. She's paid in nothing. She's not going to be eligible, even after she turns 65. Medicaid is effectively welfare health insurance. Generally, when you become a permanent resident, someone must "sponsor" you who guarantees to pay for these sort of things, so you don't collect welfare. Most of the time, you're not eligible for "welfare" benefits of any kind for a minimum of five years. As it varies by state, you might not EVER qualify. Private health insurance isn't available to someone at her age, and it's not available to someone with no verifiable medical history (read, here in the US for the first time). Unless she gets a job with an employer that will provide her with access to group coverage, she's going to be uninsured. She could always try to buy a health policy "there" before she comes over here.

Is there any way that I can finance a breast reduction with no health insurance and little credit?

I am about 4'9 with 36d breast. I am very active and there is alot i like to do but with breast this size i have constant back pains. I dont have much credit for a loan nor do i know someone who will cosign.I also dont have any health insurance and i need this surgery asap. Does anyone have any suggestions?
--------------------
Borrow a down payment from family - then discuss with your doctor a payment plan. Or if your personal physician is not the one doing the surgery - see if they know a surgeon who will take a down payment, and then the rest in installments.

Which insurance school prepares students best for Life and Health exam?

I live in the Houston area. I am ready to obtain my life and health insurance license. I would prefer to be taught by some who is in the business or who has retired from the insurance business. I also want some one who is familiar with the content and questions on the test. Can anyone recommend a school that is thorough and dedicated to helping students pass the exam and get licensed?

Will I lose my health insurance if I do not work enough hours at my job?

When I signed up for my health insurance I remember reading that I needed to work 30 hrs a week to maintain it. Last week I only worked 29 hrs. Will I completely lose my insurance in one week or does it have to be a pattern? If I work more than 30 hrs the next week will it resume or will I have to re-enroll in the coverage? Thanks.
--------------------
You need to ask your benefits admistrator about that.... I believe most places base eligibility on a quarter. If you don't have enough hours in a quarter.... then it may become an issue. However, ask your hr rep or benefits admistrator to be sure.

Is health insurance mess the Government's way of handling Social Security deficits?

If less people have access to good, affordable health care, they will die sooner and not need social security as they age. The way health insurance is currently structured guarantees that, as time goes on, fewer of us will be able to afford it, and therefore, go without. How can we fix this mess?
--------------------
That is a very cynical way of looking at things! As for the way to solve it, my view is a national health system would be best, but one allowing people to still have private health care if they so choose. I live in the UK and work in the NHS (our universal health care system). It has problems, but not as many as the US healthcare system has. Despite spending much more per head of population than other developed countries, the US has worse health outcomes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care… Life expectancy and infant mortality figures in the US are worse than in other developed countries, despite more money being spent (and wasted) in the USA. In the UK there are waiting lists for routine problems. Problems that can not wait are treated as emergencies. Also, in the UK, people can also have private health care. I can understand Americans being proud of living in the richest and most powerful country in the world. What I can not understand is why Amercians settle for an expensive healthcare system where babies die that would have a better chance of life if born in another developed country. http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,,2…

The only problem with health insurance in PR is the same problem as health insurance every where else.... it costs a lot! This is especially problematic in PR since most people here earn much less than in any State. So many people really can't afford health insurance and have to rely on the free service provided.

Who Started Mandates Across State Lines For Health Insurance?

This is what we need to end- buying health insurance anywhere we want in the country to promote Competition forcing lower costs! And TORT Reform!
--------------------
If the State governments allowed competition across state lines for the rights to carry health insurance (Prevents the Insurance company from leaving the state...holding it as a tax prisoner). Insurance costs would drop 25% over night. Some would go out of business. TORT reform is a good thing. Don't put a ceiling on it if you like...go for the moon! Sue the company and doctor for a Trillion dollars! Go For it! However, what's wrong with "Loser pays?" If you're willing to enter the ring for a contingency law suit, see if you're willing to pay the legal costs. Opponents of that, say it's discriminatory. The injured cannot match the funds of the big company. Now...Government pays...Where does government get the money? They tax the Insurance Corporation. What ever happens, win lose or draw, the Insurance company pays all legal costs. Those costs are passed on. All of these need reform. All of the aforementioned conditions are CAUSED by the government. These have been known for years, they've been brought up for years, BUT since it would make government smaller instead of larger it will not gain traction.

I have health insurance and my wife doesn't and we are having a baby how those insurance work?

i have health insurance through my job and my wife is supposedly not eligible because she those not have a social security number regarding my child, how those it work? can she receive anything regarding the pregnancy or not?
--------------------
None of your wife's maternity expensese will be covered by your insurance policy if she's not enrolled on the policy. You should be able to add the newborn after he/she is born and get coverage for the baby's expenses. The way that maternity billing works is that all the prenatal care will be billed as services for your wife. During delivery/after the birth, expenses will be separated. Certain expenses will be billed for your wife (ex - her hospital stay, her doctor's examinations, etc.). Certain expenses will be billed for the baby (ex - the baby's hospital stay, medical tests, pediatrician examination in the hospital, etc.) Expenses that are billed for the baby could be eligible for coverage by your insurance company, if you add the baby to your policy immediately. Expenses that are billed for your wife (all the prenatal stuff plus her share of the delivery/hospital charges) will never be able to be billed to your insurance company. Unless, of course, you figure out a way to add your wife before the baby is born. Not sure how Medicaid works if your wife doesn't have a social security number? But at this point, that's her last hope for getting her maternity expenses covered, if she can become eligible. You'll never find a private policy that will enroll her and cover her maternity expenses when she's already pregnant. Sorry.

Considering leaving my job to focus on being a novelist - how will I get health insurance?

I've only ever had W-2 jobs where my health insurance was part of my benefits package. But I'd like to quit my job to follow my dream of writing novels. What are my options for health insurance? Obviously that will factor into my calculations to figure out if I can afford to take this plunge.

What does the UHC plan do for me, subject me to buy health insurance, is that supposed to be an entitlement?

If I buy health ins right now am I part of the UHC goal, seems weird to make a big fuss if the plan is for me to buy health insurance. Hillary's plan is better, I know I've heard that.
--------------------
If you are talking about Clinton's plan, nothing changes for people that already have insurance. The idea is for people who don't have insurance that can't afford it to get help to pay for it. And if they can afford it, to be mandated to do that instead of sticking all of us with their medical bills. If the people who are uninsured now start paying health premiums, it should actually reduce the cost for everyone else that is currently subsidizing them.
