how long does it get under army health insurance?
I am getting married this sunday and i was wondering how long it would take for me to get under his insurance. I've heard it can take up to six months is that true? How long does it usually take and what do i have to do?

No health insurance (Tricare) will not take up to 6 months before you are eligible for it. That can be housing or command sponsorship if he is overseas on orders. As soon as your information is entered into DEERS you are automatically enrolled into Tricare Standard. With Standard you go to approved civilian providers, have a yearly deductible and a co-pay for each visit. When you get your military ID card you can change to Tricare Prime. With Prime you go to a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) and there is no cost to you after being given a Primary Care Manager (PCM). With Prime though that doesn't start immediately it depends on the date of hte month you enroll. If you do it before the 20th then it starts on the 1st of the next month. If you sign up after the 20th then it starts on the 1st of the following month. Meaning you sign up May 19th it starts on June 1st, but sign up on May 21st it starts on July 1st.

How do I get help with discounted health insurance?

As a single parent entering the military, will my son be covered under my health insurance?
I understand I mainly have a few a few options. Marry my ex legally, Marry her and work things out, or go to court and relinquish custody and pay child support. My question.... If I chose to relinquish custody to join, would my son be covered under my healthcare plan or would she have to look into finding her own insurance plan for the two of them. Thanks!

Can a pregnant woman get health insurance with no residency?
I recently found out I am 7 weeks pregnant, and my I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status) is pending. I am extremely worried as I have heard that it is difficult to get insurance once you are already pregnant and on top of that you cannot get insurance without your residency granted. Is there anyone who will insure me? I want to have my baby in a hospital with proper medical care available. My residency will not be approved until October and my baby is due in November! Please help.

you can probably get on medicaid on a pregnancy only basis. even if you think you make too much money. they can do it just because you are pregnant. i made too much money to qualify for any govt. assistance, but because i was pregnant with no insurance they granted it for pregnancy only. and it covered up to my 6 week postpartum visit. residency should not matter...i had just moved when i found out i was pregnant. i live in tx. good luck. hope this helps

Neither of us have the option of getting it through our jobs, so we are still searching.
