Please tell me why or soliders do not make enough money to provide for they're families and health insurance?

I work in a hospital and there are many patients that state they are in the military or the parent is in away in the war, but they are on medicaid or some kind of state aid. How can this be? Someone tell me that the people that are keeping our country safe and free isn't making enough money to take care of their families.
--------------------
Because they must be National Guard and do not understand their benefits. While on active duty (Regular Army, Reserve, or National Guard) their families have Tricare. All active duty military has health insurance for their families. If they did not enroll their family, then that is the service member's problem because they did not do the pre-deployment processing correctly or if they are unaware it is a chain of command issue. If they are reserves or guard not activated, then they do not have it. If you have another family that comes in and claims that, ask them about Tricare and if they don't know, call Tricare.

For any one who has had lap banding sugery what private health insurance did you have?

Australia only thanks!
--------------------
I am a lap band patient. I had been obese since the 4th grade and started having health problems at the age of twenty. At the time of the surgery, I was taking seven different medications and realized that surgery was my last resort to stay alive. When I decided that surgery was the way to go, my next step was finding someone who specialized in not just surgical options and procedures, but who truly understood obesity. That meant understanding its very nature—from its origin, its progression, and its effects physically and emotionally, I didn't want just any doctor who could and would perform the surgery. I wanted the right doctor. I came across Forerunners Healthcare Consultants website and learned about the surgery and their associated doctors. I remember I already had the information printed out and in hand when I approached my mom and told her, 'I want to have surgery. To anyone contemplating having surgery I would say it was the best decision I ever made for myself. I feel blessed to come across Forerunners Healthcare Consultants and to undergoing the procedure literally saved my life because, with the path I was on, I may not have lived to see 35 or 40. I found Forerunners Healthcare Consultants and I credit them with being the vessel that God used to save my life. You don't realize how people treat overweight people until your body shrinks...its amazing! People are more friendly and social and I am able to enjoy them because of my new confidence. So, it really depends on how well you can change and control your eating habits, and whether you are willing to take the extra risks involved with the surgery. There's more info here http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com

Would businesses be better off if they didn't provide health insurance benefits to their employees?

Think of all the money they could save.
--------------------
Actually, everyone would be better off if companies did not provide insurance to their employees! Individuals working at company x would then be able to bargain for higher wages such that he could purchase health insurance tailored to his/her needs and acceptance of risk. Put aside funds to cover their basic medical needs and save the rest in accounts set aside for health care need. This freedom on the part of the individual would not tie an employee to a company via the "golden handcuffs". Insurance rates would drop as more pools of like risk individuals form which would allow premiums to be established for those pools based on actuarial factors. Individuals would out of economic intelligence tend to remain healthier since every dollar spend on health care would be from their pocket not someone else --- Obesity, Drugs, life styles would have a measurable cost to each individual. Costs to business would decrease with reducing of law suits abuse of in house medical system. This would allow firms to lower the cost of goods and the economy would have more for less. Lastly, privacy of individual medical data would be enhanced --- firms would not be provide cohort analysis of their employees with projections on what each departments medical expense would be based on current age/sex demographics. City and state employer would not be saddled with medical cost for employee Q three x partners due to legal rights award him via domestic/civil court actions (Note in some states --- continuation of medical coverage can be assigned during divorce/separation processes.)

okay I accidentally bought 2 different individual health insurance plans which one should I keep?

I live in Alabama, and I'm a healthy 21 year old with no medical history. One plan is from Humana One wich will be $43.00 a month. The other is from Golden Rule wich will be $137.00 a month. Anyone that has experience with these company's please let me know about your experiences with them. Thanks!!!
--------------------
Rather than decide which one is better from the price, why don't you look at the COVERAGE and DEDUCTIBLES and compare them. My guess is, the $43 plan is a major medical policy that doesn't cover little stuff, and has a massive deductible. And the $137 has a much smaller deductible. But you, yourself, have to weigh the savings vs. deductible factor. And save the difference in premiums, if you pick the high deductible policy, so that you HAVE the money to pay the deductible if you need it.

Will the McJobs that McCain creates with tax cuts + ending Work Health Insurance deduction help the recession?

Or will it just make the deficit bigger, fueling the credit crisis and make health care costs worse without group negotiations?

cummulative effects of tax cuts and financial realignment will be average voter will be a bit poorer

If I have no health insurance, can I still see a doctor to get a physical exam done?

I haven't had one in over 2 years. I thought that without insurance, I couldn't get an appointment with a doctor.
--------------------
You can, you'll just have to pay up front on the day of the appointment

Why can't Canada have a health insurance policy for Americans?

Basically if you are American and you want to enjoy the same healthcare Canadians enjoy from the taxes they pay, why can't Canada offer a policy where I can pay money to the Government of Canada and then receive Canadian medical care anytime I need it? And they can have Canadian doctors located in the states?
--------------------
Your idea defeats the purpose. A better question is, 'Why, when almost every free country of any stripe has a form of Universal Medical care, does the U.S.A. hang on to an inefficient, out dated and discriminating medical system that caters only to the rich, is capable of bankrupting the middle classes and just plain ignores the poor? Master Python must be one of the idle rich or else a Republican. Both groups are busy spreading misinformation about our Medical System and the amount of taxes we pay for it. Why do you not go check out some other country's Universal Medical System. We are not the only ones who have it and we are not likely to get rid of it to make some mentally catatonic Americans happy. According to Macleans Magazine, "we're wealthier than the Americans, we live longer than the Swedes, we're more industrious than the Germans, we have more lovers than the Italians, we eat better than the French and we have more TVs than the Japanese." Wow! I love this country!!! Oh Yeah! We are bigger than all the aforementioned countries too! http://www2.macleans.ca/2009/06/30/the-b…

Wouldn't it be great if illegal immigrants all signed up for health care insurance?

Then the government would have the names and addresses of all of the illegals. The biggest problem of immigration would be solved. Our government doesn't have enough man power to locate all of the illegals. Does everyone understand yet why health care reform won't cover illegal immigrants?
--------------------
If it won't, why does Obama keep saying he wants to insure the 50 million uninsured when that number contains all illegal immigrants? (and the super rich, and those who already qualify for medicaid and medicare, and those who can afford insurance but don't want it)

Health Insurance is there a certain way to?

search for it?
--------------------
You can try a site like ehealthinsurance.com to get some quotes and ideas. You can also check with any organizations you belong to if they offer anything. If you can qualify for an HSA account, that is a good idea (and that ehealth has a way to do that as well). You probably can use some good help figuring out which plan is best for you as the fine print leads to a LOT of bankruptcies for people in the US. Doctors and hospitals are now putting some VERY scary stuff in their financial fine print. Check out this week's BusinessWeek cover story to see what I mean: http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnfl… You need to make sure you can afford the insurance. You need to make sure it meets YOUR needs. You may want to turn to an insurance broker for some assistance. Realize too that insurance companies have a LOT of ways to NOT pay for things they say they will, so take GOOD NOTES when you check that you're covered because you may have to file an appeal or fight them. Good luck.

does health insurance force terminal people to go home?

my dad has been in the hospital for 17 days now. he has cancer of prosate, bladder, water in lungs, swollen legs, and his one kidney is not working and the other is poorly working. he will have a visiting nurse to help my mom. he has a walker now and a cathita. is is true that the insurance won't let him remain in the hospital beacause they can no longer help him. my mom won't say it. she is 72 and he is 74. my friends in nursing say it"s beacuse he is terminal. MY QUESTION IS THIS TRUE?????
--------------------
yes its true! they only get a certain amount of money for each stay and too bad if you need to stay longer. look into hospice for him, it sounds like he should qualify. what about an extended care facility? he may be too sick for your mom even with a nurse to take care of.

When will Obama tell us the national health insurance is not a promise of national healthcare...?

Obama plans to CUT healthcare spending, not raise it.
--------------------
That could present a problem. I'd actually like a decent medical system like France or the UK.

Do you live in Mexico or the US? If you live in the States then you should consider discount healthcare. They have no pre-existing, and offer discounts on any procedure (cosmetic or not). The plans start at $19.95/mo per household and you can get upto 60% off the regular cost of a procedure like this. Check out the website www.deliveringonthepromise.com/40545943 Watch the 5 minute video on the home page and qualify for a free $100 Rx card (no strings attached). Then view the "Save Money" option to see if they have a program that may work for you. Their plans start at $19.95/mo..and then even has special Rx programs, and diabetics programs that you may qualify for. It's not health insurance, it's discount health care. My husband and I go this route for our family of four because it's cheaper...
