Can you get money back from your health insurance provider if you never used it and canceled it?

So I was on my company's health insurance plan and I never used it once. I've only had it for a few month and I canceled it, Is there a way to get any of the money back that was taken out? Just wondering, I have no idea how it works.
--------------------
No, there is not. It is like a losing lottery ticket. You pay for the chance to use it if, by luck, things work out so that you can use it. If not, then the money is used to pay for the treatment of others who do use it.

when do i get my meijer health insurance?

How do I use my health insurance? Do they send me a card?
--------------------
They will send you a card, and a pamphlet about how to use it. You'll have to ask your manager, about "when".

I want to start a category answering questions about "current" health insurance. Ie EOBs reading them, etc.?

There are a lot of people who do not understand how their health insurance "works". Deductables copays EOBs etc. I am ready to answer any and all questions, so fire away.
--------------------
Sir, that is the GREATEST idea of all time. If I could afford health insurance i would be asking questions right now, because it confuses the bejesus out of me.

Who are the 5-15 million in USA who need health insurance?

46 million without health insurance (12 million illegal immigrants, 10 miilion who make over $75,000 and choose not to buy insurance, another 10-20 million young people (18-25) who are generally pretty healthy and don't need it. Who are the others? Poor? Uninsurable?
--------------------
Many are the poor who qualify for Medicaid but don't want the stigma of being on welfare. Many others are between jobs who are counted even if they don't have insurance for only a month. The rest are uninsurable and these are the people that need a health care reform.

Health insurance companies for a non Canadian resident living in Canada?

I'm looking for a health insurance company to cover me while I live in Canada. I've been living here too long to get travelers insurance and don't qualify for OHIP- so this also restricts the companies I can go through. All the info is too confusing. Thanks.
--------------------
Some insurance companies to try... Pacific Blue Cross (BC) http://www.pbchbs.com/Corp/Default.aspx Blue Cross http://www.bluecross.ca/ Manulife http://www.manulife.ca/canada/canada1.ns… Good luck :)

When you will be forced to buy health insurance for yourself, how many of you will actually spend the moneyand?

and buy health insurance? It should cost an extra few thousand a year for health insurance. In your situation right now, would you actually be able to afford it and buy it or will it just be a huge joke and no one will buy it. Then we will all have to go to jail because we didn't buy health insurance.
--------------------
But costs will be lower. And you will get fined if you do not buy insurance. And then still have to get insurance anyway. I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts? FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3]. Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4] Maybe that is because in the USA, insurance companies push up costs, buy politicians and refuse to pay claims that people pay for [5]. (Look up Wendell Potter on YouTube to hear more if the link below is too long.) Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8]. Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare? If you think my arguments are wrong, e-mail me with proof. But if you can not, let Obama try to help America. If he fails, vote him out in 2012.

Where do you get long term health care insurance quotes?

Where do people get long term care health insurance quotes? I've come across many websites but was wondering if anyone has had any particularly good experiences. I did come across http://www.ltcconnects.com which appears to compare various health care providers.
--------------------
The best way is to visit a local independent agent that works with several of the better companies. There are many variations of long term policies and the agent will be able to explain the differences and can find the best policy for your situation and budget. There is no extra charge using an agent.

herniated disc with no health insurance. How can I afford surgery?

I am self employed and have no health insurance. I found out yesterday that I have a herniated disc that will require a discectomy surgery. I have no idea how much this will cost and I'm both scared that... 1. I can't have the surgery due to lack of funds 2. Can't get temporary health insurance because I already have been diagnosed with the problem. I'm hoping that someone has some suggestions on how I can get this done without being in debt for the remainder of my life. I am 43.
--------------------
possess as much information as you could maybe is one of the options, however it is quite time consuming, here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info is the resource i have ever had good experience.

What's the best individual health insurance?

I am 27 and have no major health problems, but because all the jobs I have been getting lately are temporary gigs, none of my employers offer health insurance.
--------------------
The best idea is to visit a local independant agent. They will be able to fit your medical and financial needs and wants to a plan that works for you. Since you are healthy, ask about a high deductible HSA plan. That way you are covered for major issues and can take advantage of the tax breaks an HSA offers.

Why do democrats not support tax credits for health insurance?

Universal Healthcare is on the agenda for this next election. However for several years republican and democrats have been trying to come up with a way to pay for healthcare. At one point it was proposed that all health insurance costs could be written off on your income tax. Thus making it a tax deduction. Hillary Clinton, Obama, and a majority of democrats are against this method? However they are all for tax deductions for buying a hybrid car. Isn't this a better alternative than trying to implement a system that is not the best method for healthcare?
--------------------
Can't see why they'd not want to have health insurance costs to be tax deductible. As for rectifying the problem of healthcare access in this country, it seems like a step in the right direction. If people could deduct the cost of health insurance from their taxes it would make shopping around for the best and most affordable insurance a good option, and have the effect of creating a more competitive environment in the industry. As it is, the only way to have that benefit is to take whatever healthcare provider your employer does business with.

Guess why the "warrior" senator is on CSPAN fighting for his bill to protect health insurance profits?

Why was he named amongst the infamous "Keating Five?" Is he, indeed, just another corporatist war monger and a spear bearer for the investment bankers, mortgage industry, healthcare elitists? If not, why not? Health insurance companies expect tax payer subsidies to maintain their awesome profit levels. McCain has a bill for them. Is that what you really want?
--------------------
Why should anyone be surprised? (kpk02 seems to be ignorant of what "profit" means...a "profit" is what is left AFTER all expenses have been paid. Expenses INCLUDE MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR Executive salaries...so, its obvious these guys pay themselves a TON because only 3% is left over. If they didn't pay themselves so much, their "profit margin" would be A LOT higher.)

Can my private university force me to buy its student health insurance?

I am currently covered by a state-enhanced version of Medicare; my family is extremely low-income and this health coverage is far superior to that offered by the private graduate school I will be attending this fall. However, the school is not accepting my waiver form saying that government insurance does not meet the school's waiver qualifications (only employer insurance programs do). Can they do this to me and make me pay thousands of dollars I don't have for redundant school health insurance I don't need? Anyone knowledgeable enough to know whether this is something I can fight legally? The school and my insurance are in NJ.
--------------------
A private school can require you to do just about anything as a condition of admittance -- because they are a private institution, not a govt agency. It's all a matter of contract -- you can either do what they want, or not accept admission. Your choice. Racial prejudice is about the only thing prohibited -- and that's only under the 13th Amendment, which affects private groups -- the 14th only applies to govt action.

I need basic cheap health insurance for school where do i go?

Hello! I need basic cheep (pointless) health insurance so i can move into my dorm room for college. I have no insurance, neither does my mother and my dad... thinks i should work as a waitress, get married and pop out a few children, so he's of no help. where is a good inexpensive student insurance place that will pretty much just say "she's insured!" and let me continue on my way thru school tiptoeing around so i wont get hurt.
--------------------
In nearly all cases, the cheapest option for students is whatever their school offers. If you go to one of the few schools that does not offer any insurance, then the cheapest option will be one of the options that is available only in your state and not in the other 49 states. The only inexpensive options that are available nationwide are only available to employees of the federal government. Other than the federal government, there is no good inexpensive place that offers insurance for all 50 states. If, like most schools, your school offers some type of health insurance, take it. If not, then post this question again with the name of your state, so that we can tell you what options exist in your state, although all of them will be more expensive than getting insurance from a school.

Health Insurance?

I'm currently enrolled into Blue Cross Blue Shield (Federal Employee Plan) I have the basic family plan ( I think) My question is my son has been diagnosed with ADHD and non of his office visits or medication is covered. It all an out of pocket expense. Does anyone know if Blue Cross Blue Shield covers this? If so which plan. I've been looking it up online and just can't get any answers. Thanks.

Pick up the phone and call the number on the back of your insurance card. Or ask your HR department for a copy of your policy. Your insurance policy information will not be online.

what would happen if you got food poisoning after eating in a restaurant if you had health insurance?

and what would happen if you didn't have health insurance?

Your health insurance should pay for any doctor visits and if you dont have insurance, you would have to pay yourself.

Why doesn't the government offer tax incentives for people who purchase their own health insurance?

instead of forcing everyone to purchase health insurance and causing taxes to skyrocket and opressing people further than they already are?
--------------------
It is about control and if everyone doesn't buy into the ponzie scheme it will not work. They need all of the marks (victims )to pay or this will be a big fat failure.

do we get tricare health insurance when hubby is at bootcamp?

My daughter just turned one and isnt covered by any insurance anymore. I need her to see the doctor. and would they cover for mental health too?
--------------------
As soon as you are registered in DEERS and you have your dependent ID cards, and your husband actually enrolls you into Tricare, then you will be covered. Until that happens you are not. Only Active duty servicemen are automatically covered by Tricare. As a dependent, depending on what type of medical plan you are enrolled in with tricare, some things will be covered while others won't. You may also have to pay co-pays.

American Health Insurance - Are there any providers who will cover me?

I have very few issues, a couple prescriptions but a couple large health insurance providers wouldn't cover me. If I can't, it means a lot of people are getting turned down by these jerks. Does anybody know of a fair organization?
--------------------
If you are rejected by insurance companies, then check into your state's high risk pool. Your name goes in to a "pool" and the insurance companies have to take turns taking people from this group. Yes, health care insurance stinks at this point in American history.

If i dont have health insurance, will planned parenthood still see me?

I dont have health insurance and im 15, will planned parenthood still see me and provide birth control?
--------------------
Yes they will still see you. You will have to provide your address, and phone number. They will help you set up a payment plan. I think in some states it is free to receive BC from planned parenthood through government funding. They will help you get set up with that.

Why "significant others" can be included on the partners health insurance, but my daughter can't add boyfriend?

Why "significant others" can be included on the partners health insurance but yet my daughter, who has a boyfriend can't put him on hers?
--------------------
Most employers don't allow "significant others" to be added to health insurance - it's really for same sex domestic partners. If your daughter wants to put boyfriend on her health insurance, she really needs to marry him. If you want marital priveleges, you need marital responsibilities.

In PA, does my sons father continue to be responsible for his health insurance while he is in college?

After child support ended for my son at 18 his health insurance also stopped. Is his father responsible for my sons insurance while he is in college?
--------------------
Not unless your divorce/support/custody agreement says so. The law does not require it. Once your son is 18, he's an adult. You can't have it both ways.
