Health insurance to travel to Europe?

I have no health insurance and I'm going to go to France in a college trip for three weeks next semester and I need a traveler's insurance. Where can I get such thing? I don't want to get a whole health insurance.

Try Squaremouth. There is a section dedicated to travelers who need just medical insurance while abroad. Squaremouth is a comparison site so has lots of choice. You can sort by price and amount of cover etc. http://www.squaremouth.com/visitors-insu…

About how many nations have national health insurance and in how many of them?

are the people clamoring for an American-style system? After all, 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating'.
--------------------
I'm from Canada and no....no one person in Canada wants a privatized health care system, other than a few businessmen who may profit from such a change, but we believe it to be a basic fundamental right that all Canadians have universal health care. Which means I don't pay for insurance I'm covered anywhere in Canada. and in times of sickness I don't worry about financial. As well I believe that most European nations have a government funded health care systems, as well as Australia, Cuba, and countless others. I believe the US health care is really a notch or two down from most of the industrial world...get with the times USA...look after your peeps. I have family who vacation the winters in Arizona, and they will not even go shopping in the states without travel insurance due to the potential cost if they were to ever get sick or hurt. Hell when there in Arizona the go to Mexico for there prescriptions and dental work...kinda sad if you ask me.

About health insurance at university?

I have a network health insurance and my school rejected the insurance. I have to get their recommended health insurance blue shield cross. Is there anyway that I can have my network health insurance cover part of the bill?
--------------------
Yes, you can do that but you have to ask them directly about it as they know the best procedure. Here is a source where you can find more advice: http://www.myhealth-forum.com/

What do you think of health care insurance that covers 90% of a hospital stay?

It offers a $500 family deductible, after that, 90% of a hospital stay, $20 for a Primary Care office visit, and $30 for a specialist visit. The insurance company is Aetna. This is their Core PPO plan.
--------------------
I don't like it. You could end up with a really big hospital bill since they add up quickly. The rest is pretty standard.

What if I refuse to buy health insurance under Hillary's plan?

How is it fair that the AMISH don't have to buy health insurance?

don't they ever go to the hospitals? seriously? can I claim the same thing?
--------------------
Why would they need to go to the doctor, they don't eat disgusting food like we do (mcdonalds and soda). They do physical work all day. They are not fat slobs like the rest if us.

When Obama's health care plan passes does that mean my employer has to pay for 100% of my health insurance?

Or whatever percentage my employer feels like? And what about deductibles, can my employer get away with a $2000 deductible under Obama care that I have to pay?
--------------------
That depends on how large your employer is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htZN-Is7N… And no, a large deductable like that would be banned. FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [a] FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [b] FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [c] FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [d] FACT - Obama was elected to bring in change [e] FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies screwing the American people [f] FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and in Switzerland [g] If anyone can prove the facts above are wrong, e-mail me and let me know.

Health Insurance: Coverage in Canada as a US citizen?

I am currently a full time university student under my parents' health insurance plan. As soon as I graduate this semester, I will have to purchase my own health insurance. I plan to move to Canada (Montréal) to live for 6 months and search for a job there. Since I am a U.S. citizen, I will not receive free health insurance in Canada. My questions: 1) What is a good low-cost health insurance company? 2) If I purchase my health insurance through a US company, will it cover me while I am in Canada? I have a very good medical history. No past problems, am a nonsmoker, not married. Thanks for any info!
--------------------
I would check with Canadian insurers as mentioned and also with an international health insurance provider like www.piu.org. The international plans are reimbursement only, and probably not what you are looking for.

Orthogonathic surgery: How do I get my Health insurance to pay for it?

My orthodontist and dentist feel that I need to get Othorgonathic surgery to fix my underbite. They want me to to get surgery to my upper and lower jaws. To be honest I agree with them. I cant close my mouth comfortably along with the fact that I grind my teeth at night and I am already developing minor TMJ issues. However it says this in the exlusions & limitations section of my benefits information Upper and Lower jaw bone surgery except as required for the direct treatment of accute traumatic injury or cancer Orthogonathic surgery, jaw alignment and treatment for the tempromandibular joint except atreatment of obstructive sleep apnea Services for the evaluation and treatment of tempromandibular joint syndrome (TMJ) whether the services are considered to be medical or dental in nature. Has anyone else run into this problem? Were you able to successfully appeal? if so how? By the way I'm over 19. Thanks I would like to be able to smile in pics. for a change!

Call a very experienced oral maxillofacial surgeon. They are usually located in educational medical schools or consult a trauma hospitals....the folks that operate on gun shot wounds to the face....that is the surgeon you want doing this type of surgery....it is complicated. Call this type of surgeons private practice and ask who is in charge of billing...they usually know how different insurance cos work and how to go about getting coverage. I'd also make sure the doctor is not only a DDS (doctor of denistry), but also an MD (medical doc). Most really qualified oral maxillofacial doctors are...these guys are like artists or even more qualified than plastic surgeons.

College Health Insurance in New York?

I am a full time college student in New York and have always been a resident of New York. In a week on my 19th birthday my health insurance through, Child Health Plus is going to end. I am unemployed and my parents do not have the options of family health plans. I do not know what to do I need to have coverage to be safe, does annyone know where I can get affordable health insurance as a student and at my age in New York.
--------------------
If you are in college, you may want to check out health insurance programs that are written through your school. United Healthcare has a plan available at many US schools. These student injury and illness plans provide wide ranging coverage and are designed to be affordable for college students. To check if your school is participating, go to www.UHCSR.com and enter your school name in the search box. You might also be interested in joining the American College Student Association (ACSA), a national organization for college students. They have lots of member benefits, including student health insurance. Their membership fee is affordable.

Since much of the ideas in Federal Health Insurance law comes from Mitt Romney's Massachusetts reform -?

Does that bode well for him if he is the presumptive republican candidate to go up against Obama in 2012? Will it make conservatives heads explode if they have to choose between Obamacare vs Romneycare?
--------------------
Not as big a dilemma as you are making it out to be. Romney's plan is a _state_ plan, whereas Obamacare is a federal one. Most conservatives seem to be okay with state management of many things, including health care. Cheers! ©2010 SinisterMatt. All Rights Reserved.

When you have a baby, the child is covered under the mother's health insurance for 30 days following birth...?

Is the child covered under the father's health insurance for 30 days as well? My husband and I have 2 different health insurance providers and I have a 35% coinsurance with my (I am the mother) insurance. I am now getting thousands of dollars of medical bills for the delivery of my child. I know I am responsible for my hospital stay, but I have a $4000 bill for my daughter's. Can I submit that to my husband's insurance?
--------------------
Not exactly true, for either of those. You have 30 days from the date the baby is born, to ADD that child, to mom's coverage, or dad's coverage. IF you add the baby, the baby is covered retroactive, from the date of birth. SOME state medicaid programs - welfare health insurance - WILL automatically cover the baby under mother's welfare health insurance, for the first 30 days, even if baby never gets added. IF the baby gets added to both mom's private insurance, and dad's private insurance, the "birthday rule" applies, as to whose coverage is primary - whoever has the first birthday, during the year, is primary. BUT, if dad does add baby, and you submit the bill, his coverages apply to the TOTAL AMOUNT, not just the part you have to pay. So, if dad also has a 35% coinsurance, then his insurance pays NOTHING, because yours already picked up 65% of the bill. If his has a 30% coinsurance, then his pays the difference - 5% of the TOTAL, not 65% of the BALANCE.

Do I need to get tested for smoking to get health insurance?

It would depend on the policy of the insurance company.

What is the cheapest/reliable health insurance for a family of three???

I am a mother working full time with an 8/9 year old. And recommendations????
--------------------
My recommendation is to visit a local independent agent that works with all the major companies. The agent can find the best policy for your situation and budget and there is no extra charge for the service. Most insurance companies do not write policies in every state and every policy, even from the same company, can vary depending upon your state. The premiums can even vary by zip code so the best policy for you where you currently live may not be the best policy if you move to a different town.

Where can I buy the health insurance for foreign visitor who will come to visit USA for three months?

Is there any website that I can check the info?
--------------------
Any guest you have staying should purchase there travel insurance in there home country. Most insurance has restriction on the nationality of the user. I travel to the states and have found that the UK travel insurance is much better value for money than what is available in the USA. $70 for six months covers and up to $10 million dollars worth of treatment with no surcharge

What is the best/cheapest health insurance. I am very healthy and mainly need "Emergency Coverage"?

I am working as a private contractor and need coverage for the next 6- 8 months before starting new job with coverage. I am healthy and don't need any medications. I am mostly concerned about getting into an accident and huge hospital bills. Or if I get pregnant (we are waiting but sometimes things happen!) Also, my best friend is in the same situation- can we share a policy?
--------------------
When it comes to health insurance cheap and best will not be in the same sentences. You need to look up the companies that provide insurance in your area and read the fine print. It is not going to be cheap to get a good insurance for medical emergencies. In this day and age there is no reason for an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy. You would also need to get coverage for that and make sure that the little one would be covered. Some states still allow insurance companies to avoid covering pre-existing conditions and I am not sure if pregnancy is considered a pre-existing condition. How long do you have to work before you can start using insurance benefits? You may have to pay for insurance longer than you thought. Most states only allow you to share a policy if you are married, immediate family member, or a domestic parnter.

What's wrong with being your Brother's Keeper,as the Bible advises? That means health insurance that covers the?

poorest of us. Paying an insurance company is the same as paying taxes, except that with the latter, you can be sure your brother will be covered and won't be treated like a charity case. Are you your Brother's Keeper, or a hypocritical Christian or other?
--------------------
Your argument is flawed, the "poorest" of us ALREADY has health care, it's called Medicaid. The people not covered are middle class that do not want to spend their own money for it, the illegal immigrants that do not contribute to the system, and the elite rich that pay cash for medical expenses. So which of those groups are you volunteering to pay for?
