Health insurance when dependents are in a different state?

How does health insurance work if I work in a different state than my dependents? I'm getting a divorce and may be relocating to a different state but I'm unsure of how to provide health insurance for them if I'm in a different state.
--------------------
It will depend on your new employers policy as to who they purchase their insurance through. Most times in this situation the policy that is covered by your employer is the basic. Anything above and beyond what they carry is YOUR responsibility. Best of luck on the move. When you get settled make an appointment with someone in personnel they will help you.

How many of you have health insurance?

If you don't have it, how do you pay for healthcare?
--------------------
Have to at he moment, as government (in Australia) taxes you if not, depending on your income. This is to be changed soon under election promise as it's not very fair and never accounted for inflation etc. Medicare (Gov) provides basic healthcare for all Australians though regardless.

Is it more likely than not that if an insurance plan has a higher premium, then the doctors probably like that insurance?

Out of the 47,000,000 Million People in this country, without Health Insurance, How many are Illegals.?

I have a Number of over 12,750,000, And this number is supplied by a very reliable government source. There are other numbers supporting that more than 20 Million are Illegal, And If you on the left and would like to context the House and Senate versions of the Bill. A proviso is in their to continue to pay for these Illegals. Now why Would you or I want to pay for someones health care who is breaking the law.
--------------------
I think the number is much higher than 20 million. However, there are many decent, hard-working Americans who don't get health insurance benefits from their jobs. They should be allowed to purchase affordable health insurance and receive a tax deduction for doing so, without having their ability to purchase quality insurance or their rates go up because of preexisting conditions. Illegal immigrants should have no rights at all, except the right to go home immediately. Why is this so hard for the government to figure out?

Talk to your HR department. Most BCBS insurances have an optional vision plan. They usually pay a blanket cost of $100-$200 for exam and materials.

health insurance?

Dear friends, I was an international student in the past spring semester and my health insurance is still valid until the end of this summer. Thankfully I have not used my insurance at all and I was wondering if you my friends could give me any smart ideas on how I may be able to get the most out of my health insurance before it expires? I assume there would be no refund to me from the insurance company even if I have not had a single claim on it. I paid almost 500$ for it and that kinda hurts to see it is going to expire soon and you have not benefited from it at all! Hope you understand and thank you very much in advance for your smart ideas and any advice or information you could give, warm regards, Rojin
--------------------
Health insurance isn't like a car rental - it's a BET. And, this is October, so . . what do you mean you have it until the end of this summer? It's mid fall now. If you only paid $500 for it, my advice, if you're determined to "use" it, is to break an arm or a leg. Likely, you'll have a hefty deductible, also, so expect to be out of pocket even more than the $500, but at least you make those darned insurance companies pay you something, even if it costs you more, and hurts a lot.

health insurance?

i'm a self employed 28 y/o male, where in the hell can i get health insurance that isn't like 800 bucks a month?
--------------------
You need to do your research. Call around to the big names (Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, etc.) as well some smaller or local insurers. Make sure to compare benefits across the boards. Get quotes from many different sources and then use these to bargain with different insurance companies. You could try a site such as http://www.insurance.com which may be able to get you many different rates and may save you from doing some leg work.

Health Insurance?

I've recently changed jobs. The job that I have right now doesn't offer insurance at the moment. While looking for affordable health insurance I got injured playing soccer (I was diagnosed with torn ACL). Any idea what shoud I do now? According to the doctor the surgery can wait few months. Should I hide my injury from the insurance company and get the insurance, then after some time fix my knee etc? Please help.
--------------------
Do not listen to the other Bozos answering your question. You really only have one or two real options due to your diagnosis and pre-existing condition. You will not be able to hide your injury from any insurance company now that you have had a diagnosis by a doctor while previously covered by insurance....they all report to the MIB (Medical Information Bureau) and you will be discovered sooner or later and your claim will be denied. If they did pay any claims you will be required by law to pay them back in full. Option # 1) Get a new job with "Group" coverage. Group is guaranteed issue and if you have had no break in coverage for more than 31 days (in most states) the one year pre-existing clause is eliminated and you should be covered immediately. Option # 2) Have your current employer (if they do not offer coverage) pay you as a 1099 self employed individual. In most states an individual that is self employed may apply for a "Group of 1" guaranteed issue health plan. If you have gone past your 31 days you may be accepted for the insurance but given a 1 year waiting period for pre-ex. conditions. Did your other job offer you COBRA? If you don't know, ask your old employer. If they did offer it, you have 63 days to accept it and assume the coverage....in which case your injury (if incurred in the 63 day window) would be covered.

Health insurance?

I left my job about a couple of months back.Im actively looking for a job and hoping to land something by next month.Im eligible for COBRA benefits through my former employment.I still have time to elect or waive the COBRA coverage.Im not sure whether I should elect it.I definitely don't have any planned doc/hospital visit in the near future,so I need insurance only for unexpected events.I have time until Aug first week to make the election.I might get insured through my new employer before or roughly around the first half of August but it would be about 4 months since I lost coverage from my previous insurance plan if I do not elect COBRA.I don't know if that has any significance and I don't know what exactly is the HIPAA rights.I read somewhere that a break in health insurance for more than 63 days could mean losing HIPAA rights and also have some other consequences like pre-exclusion.My question is what are the pros and mainly the cons of electing or waiving COBRA benefits?
--------------------
You need to take the Cobra. If you don't, and during your uninsured time you develope a problem that will remain with you the rest of your life (diabetes, cancer, fibromyalgia, kidney issues, etc), a new insurer can exclude any medical treatment related to that condition as "pre-existing". Uninsured medical issues are the number one reason why middle class people become poor people.

Can his family help him to get new insulin pump with their health insurance?

My friend's insulin pump broke. He needs a new one. it cost $7,000.00. He doesn't have health insurance.
--------------------
Your friend cannot receive benefits of his family's health insurance if he is not covered by their policy. He should really look into getting state insurance (Medicaid) if he is eligible. I'm not sure if they would help pay for an insulin pump, but they might cover office visits and other expenses associated with care of a diabetic.

Anyone have suggestions on dropping out of employer health plan and getting your own insurance?

Health insurance is so expensive, and we rarely use it. I am thinking about taking out my own high-deductible policy for catastrophic coverage and paying everything out of pocket. Has anyone tried this? Any recommendations for companies that offer high-deductible policies for catastrophic coverage?
--------------------
I would never suggest to not elect group coverage. Group coverage is cheaper because you are paying the group rate. An individual policy is usually a lot more expensive and your rates can increase every year. You can not afford to not have insurance. What would happen if you had a major medical claim. You can not work your way out of a claim for hundreds of thousands of dollars to some claims that are one million dollars. I decided to quit my "big boy" job 3 years a go. I did purchase a individual policy and my premiums have increased every year by at least 15%. I am now paying $174 a month for health and rx coverage (no dental and vision). If you are still thinking about making such a bold move, speak to an insurance advisor.

How long does the Virginia Life, Accident, and Health Insurance Exam take?

How many questions are on it? What is a passing score on it? What is the pass rate for those who take the test? and finally For those who have taken the exam, please rate it on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the hardest test ever taken).
--------------------
It has been awhile since taking, but I believe there are 200 multiple choice questions. I believe the passing score is 75%. Took and passed all on the same day, 1st time. The Va P & C is much harder.

Need health insurance policy for my parents aged 60 and 53.?

What do you suggest? How is reliance healthwise? Has anyone made a claim? How is the process?
--------------------
There are plenty of health insurance companies that have strong policies for those up to the age of 65. The key is to choose a reputable and trustworthy company like a Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana, etc. Plans differ from state to state so be sure and compare quotes from at least 3 different companies in order to find the best plan for their needs. Here is some more information on how to choose the best health insurance company:

If my child gets hurt on my backyard trampoline - will my/his health insurance cover his injuries?

Or would that be a home insurance claim?
--------------------
Use your health insurance. It's a bad idea to try and put a claim through your home owners insurance. You are at risk of being dropped or premium going up. Children get hurt at home all the time. If a friends child got hurt at your home then you should deal with the Homeowners insurance company. That's my opinion!

Low income Health and dental insurance ?

I make under 20'000 a year and im in need of dental work for my wisdom teeth and health insurance because im getting sick. Is there any gov. programs or anything i can do to help. I live in ohio.
--------------------
Your state should offer insurance through the department of human services for low income individuals. Bad wisdom teeth should be treated asap....you can die from bad teeth in severe cases.
