Sister adding younger sibling to health insurance?

I wasn't eligible for medicaid and I'd really like to get some braces. I've been wanting some since I was about 8 or 9 . Im 16 now! My sister said that she would contact Blue Cross/Blue Shield to see if I could be put on hers . What are the chances of me actually being put on her plan and being able to receive dental help?

Trying to obtain health insurance at McDonald's?

I starting working at McDs seven months ago, and didn't need to enroll in their health insurance program because I was covered under my parents. My coverage under my parents' policy ended a week ago, so I'm trying to enroll for health insurance of my own through work. They told me that I have to wait until June for open enrollment, but I've heard a lot about "life-changing events" that can qualify you, would one of these be losing your coverage? And is there anything that McDs is legally required to do about it?
--------------------
You can't sign on until open enrollment. Here are the qualifying events: •Marriage or divorce •Birth or adoption of a child •Death of a spouse or dependent •Significant change in the health care coverage of the employee or the employee's spouse attributable to the spouse's employment •The taking an unpaid leave of absence by you or your spouse •Change from part-time employment to full-time employment or the reverse by you or your spouse You SHOULD have taken coverage as soon as you could have . . . losing dependent status will qualify you for COBRA on your parent's policy, but WON'T get you added to your employer's coverage outside of open enrollment. Sorry!

to pay for the health insurance of people who can not afford health insurance, they are taxing....?

other health insurance? and people actually voted for this guy? This is just asinine. has obama ever heard of "cause and affect"? The solution to battle the cost of expensive health care is to tax it?
--------------------
What is more disturbing is that neither house is in session and they are reconsciling both bills without us having ANY representation at all. Not that the dems would do much good for us...but they are rushing this through for the STATE of the UNION address. WHAT AMAZES ME is how bozo thinks this will stick. With all the lawsuits being filed and losing popularity and AMERICANS being outraged and knowing the dems will not be in office come Nov and he will be a limp noodle then...you would think he would try to deceive people long enough to keep senate in place for his term! But he truly does not care about AMERICA...he is like a run away train and no control..and we will and we can stop him. He has done NOTHING for AMERICA...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but destroy our freedom and rights! Old School....it is YOUR attitude and the dems attitude that is destroying a good party that had honor and credibility . It is people like you and your leader that gloat over NOW and to hell with consequences! It is like a kindergarten class gone wild and like kindergartners....you will be controlled and stopped. So you can say we won...get over it....but you are not looking out for your party and the long term affects...and that is your downfall. If you can't win you feel like a failure..and the truth is...BECAUSE YOU CANNOT accept compromise and backing down and allowing EVERYONE to be heard...you will end up killing your party. This is not about winning dude..this is ABOUT AMERICA! and CONVICT.....CBO said republicans had several good options and would be REFORM and not government controlled and it would SAVE BILLIONS and not INCREASE THE DEBT as this is. You just believe what you want....it is all lies..and if you just stopped to look around you you would see your house of cards falling down rapidly! ANYONE who does not think that being taxes on every end of everything to cover this is not going to happen...well..you were lost a year ago and you still are. But time always brings out the lies and the truth..and the lies are out there...and the truth is coming. CBO says by 2017...cost of this insurance will be 13,000 dollars per person..not family!

i was wondering if my health insurance can be used on my pet in need of veterinary car?

my dog is kind of sick but i am not sure she has not been wanting to play or anything. She is usually very playful but she just got weird on me? can i use blue cross medi-cal on my pet in need of vet care.
--------------------
like the other two people, I think it is highly unlikely you can use your insurance below is an interesting article about a pet insurance company you need to get pet insurance or just keep money aside in a special account for pet medical needs, or just put expenses on credit card or cash out of pocket when pet related expenses arise.

Why do libs fall for Obama's villainization of health insurance profits?

Profit margins for health care plans rank 86th in industries in the USA. If you could strip away 100% of insurance company profits, you would save only $100-$200 per year on your insurance premiums. SEE LIST: http://mjperry.blogspot.com/2009/08/heal…

Any suggestions on individual health insurance?

I just recently became self employed. Can anyone suggest any good individual health plans that they might have some experience with??
--------------------
You'll want to visit a local independent agent. Plans and companies vary by state and the agent knows what is available in your area. They work with all the major companies and are able to compare all the plans available. The plans and premiums are the same whether you go through the agent or buy directly from the company. Do not try to do this over the internet. It'll take you several days to intelligently compare all the plans available. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy or cause you to be declined or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process. You may get answers here concerning medical discount plans. Be very wary of these plans. They are not regulated by the Department of Insurance nor do the people that sell them need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by the low price and claims of "save up to 80%" be aware that very few doctors actually take these cards. It does you little good if you have to drive 4 hours to find a doctor that will accept the card. Montana couldn't find any doctors in the whole state that actually took the card and only one dentist who was on probation for unlawful activities so they banned the sale of the card and fined the company. See this link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/wes… for more information. Many other states are starting to ban these cards as well. Before signing up with any discount plan get a list of doctors. If they won't give you a list consider it to be a scam. Call the doctors on the list to make sure they're still taking the card (many don't even know that they're listed as a provider) and that they're accepting new patients.

don't you think the Premiums for job-based health insurance should have been taking care of long ago?

yep going to be layed off too. found out to continue your group health insurance is going to cost 570.00 a month or what my employer was paying ,heard it went up 10% this year.it also a reason business has a hard time paying us....this is where bush should start finding solution, etc. if you dig deep I wouldn't be surprise to find corruption too , agree?
--------------------
$570 really isn't too bad for COBRA, if you had halfway decent coverage through your employer. If I were to leave my employer, COBRA would cost about $850 a month. If your employer was having a hard time paying the premiums, they should have investigated other cost saving measures. I'm sure that your co-workers would have rather compromised on their health plan vs. being out of a job entirely in this economy. There are things that an employer can work with on their insurance policy to help control premiums...wellness programs, increasing deductibles or coinsurance, etc. (Not that employees would be thrilled about a deductible increase, but it still beats losing a job.) As far as "corruption" goes...insurance premiums go up to compensate for medical expenses going up. If an insurer raised premiums by 10% in a year, then you should be able to confirm (through publicly available data with the department of insurance) that the volume of medical claims they were paying out increased also. The insurance industry is one of the most tightly regulated industries there is - nearly every move an insurance company makes has to be approved through the department of insurance, and all of the data is available for the public to review. Unfortunately, medical expenditures grow every year, and those costs have to be absorbed somewhere.

What is the best option for personal health insurance?

I am recently coming to the end of my COBRA 18 month policy that I took after ending my last job. I am my own boss, and I am wondering how to go about seeing which providers would be a good fit. I currently have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield. Is there a way to keep the same policy and just pay a normal premium?
--------------------
ehealthinsurance is a good place to see what is available but don't buy from them unless you like talking to people in a call center. Call a local agent that works with all the major companies; you'll get the same rates, you'll get the same office each time you call and you'll get personalized service. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions or are out of the normal height and weight guidelines the agent will be able to find the company that will accept you and that will have the best coverage for your situation. ehealth just submits your application and they don't worry if it gets declined.

Do I need to disclose I've had an abortion when applying for health insurance?

Am I likely not to get coverage because of it?
--------------------
Ignore Mimi. People are ignorant. In answer to your question, almost certainly not... I've had to fill out several health insurance questionnaires, and the most intimate question I've ever been asked is "Do you smoke?" Having had an abortion is quite irrelevant to how much you will cost an insurer, so they don't care. You have NO legal obligation to say "I've had an abortion" if not asked. You're generally obligated to discuss pre-existing conditions. This is not one.

Health insurance question: what is the most that you can be insured for?

I want a plan that covers anything and everything. Please tell me what plan it is or post a link to it. Also, how will things be covered under Obama care (the procedures, etc.)?
--------------------
It is not Obama care. It is the Affordable Car Act or the Patient Protection Act. There are two of them. In 4 years you can buy insurance from an exchange which offers lots of policies and plans. There will be a government subsidy to help you pay for it and a tax credit when you file your return. What is covered will depend on which plan you choose. It is not set up yet. These bills are very comprehensive and complex. I just answered you about the biggest part of the bill. You can read summaries and go to links of the provision you are interest in. http://edlabor.house.gov/blog/2010/03/af… http://dpc.senate.gov/dpcissue-hri.cfm http://www.healthcare.gov/

Is Health Insurance really worth it, if you can't afford the deductible?

I have BCBS TX and it is $200 a month with a $10,000 deductible. It pays for everything else though, like if I go to the Dr. it is a $25 copay and they also pay for any lab and ex rays and any kind of preventative care like my yearly pap and immunizations. I am 26 and go to the Dr. maybe 3 times a year. What do you all think? Should I save the $200 a month, or keep it?

Can you donate blood without health insurance?

I have donated blood for the last two years that I have been eligible to do it whenever the whole 'circus' came to my college campus. I am now at serious risk of losing my insurance, at the point of it almost being a sure thing - now, I know they probably won't need it to draw the blood, but if, for some crazy reason, something goes wrong, will I potentially die because I was donating blood? Sorry if it sounds crazy, just a little paranoid...
--------------------
In all reality, you would only die from donating blood if they took way too much, or if the needles weren't sterilized and you got a disease. And if by some odd chance something happened that you would be in dire need of medical care, the donation center, red cross or whatever would probably pay for the medical care if the blood draw had anything to do with it. That and there are usually doctors at hand in case something more than someone just passing out goes wrong.
