Can an employer cancel an employee's health insurance while he's out on workmans comp? How about his wife's?

My husbands employer seems to have cancelled his health insurance shortly after he went out on workmans comp., as they cancelled mine too. Now she's telling him that if he wants he can go COBRA?

Well, when you are terminated from employment, the employer can't keep you on their group plan! And unless you have a contract that says otherwise, an employer doesn't have to keep you employed, or keep your job open, while you're out with an injury. If the employee's insurance is cancelled, so is the entire family's plan. Yes, if he wants to keep the health insurance, he should go on Cobra. And there's no grace period for that payment, so accept, and mail the payment in TODAY.
