I have health insurance and need to go to the doctor. Nothing serious. I have heard people choose to self pay and pay cost out of pocket instead of using insurance. Is this something you can get in trouble for? I am just afraid my premiums may go up and I can't afford to pay any more.

You don't have to use your insurance, it's not something that you could get in trouble for. If you're going for something that isn't serious than I would use it, it shows you are taking care of your health. The insurance companies like that.
