Can you get health insurance for just your child, and not yourself?

Live in MI, need health ins for my 2 year old, but dont want to cover mysefl or husband. Can i do this?

Yes. In Michigan Blue Cross Blue Shield has to insure anyone who applies, and you can get a policy just for your child. However, Blue Cross may not be your best option. If you child has no pre-existing conditions then you can do better buying a policy through Aetna or one of the other medical insurance carriers. If your daughter has a health condition then you may find that Blue Cross Blue Shield is your only option as most carriers will not cover someone for whom they can foresee actually having to make payments.
