Is there such a thing as Supplemental Mental Health Insurance?

My spouse needs to see a therapist/psychiatrist and we have pretty good health insurance. But there is a $50 co-pay for a specialist and we can not afford it. He needs to be seen 4-6 times a month and that is not possible. Does anyone have any advice?

Your only other option would be th see if you can get him help through your local mental health center. They can find help for lowincome mentally ill folks. However if you have insurance you may be out of luck..... he may have to cut back on the number of visits he has each month..... Insurance companies often limit the number of visits a year you can have to a therapist (mine limits it to 20)..... so you may want to call your insurance company and get a better picture of theor mental health benefits... often they are completely different than medical benefits. For example, my therapist is not treated as a specialist but like a physical therapist would be....... smaller copay but limited visits every year.....
