I live in Mass and have New Hampshire health insurance (Blue Cross) because I work in NH. I've been going to a back doctor in MA. Will I get screwed if I get surgery in a MA hospital or am I better off going to a doctor in NH?

That is up to the insurance company, some are nationwide and it doesn't matter, but your human resource employee should be able to tell you if there will be a difference.
