I am about to get married and was wondering if I have to notify my health and auto insurance of the change or if they will automatically know that I got married.

After marriage, you need to notify your health insurance company. They should give you a certain amount of days to enroll your spouse, they will not automatically know. It depends on your insurance when your spouse will be covered, it might be date of marriage or it could be the first day of the next month I don't know about your auto insurance
